Battery usage question - HTC One X

Hey guys, I am an iPhone convert and using HTC one x for nearly two weeks now. I have rooted and installed leedroid Rom and its much better than HTC stock. So the question is u an attaching a screenshot of ny battery. Is this battery usage kind of good or can I improve it. I don't use my phone for calls much so that's why very low usage on calls.
Would really appreciate some feedback.

It is pretty good, you can try to download Easy Battery Saver and Easy Task Killer from the playstore. Also (this helped me verry much) you can download the CoreControl app from the xda forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652136
You can set it to 2 cores,it will run perfect, the phone won't heat up anymore if you play games and also saves you'r battery life.

Task killers are pretty useless, android is good at memory management. When you kill the task that android hadn't done already it will be restarted right after by android then killed again by the app thus making an endless loop of killing and restarting processes wasting more battery.
And anything these "battery saver" apps do you can do your self, turning off WiFi ect. Thus removing the need of the app and saving more battery.
@op you really need to post a screen on time as well but yes that seems about normal

could have 3 days battery life without screen on time it means nothing

What was the screen "on" time?

Wtf? Is this normal.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA

What sort of. Battery life and screen time are you getting from it 100% > 0% cause don't look normal to me
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

Well, long story short, from %100 to dead took less than 4 hours on stand by.

If WiFi and 3G are turned OFF, but auto-sync is ON, does it cause any drain on the battery as opposed to if it were OFF?
On WiFi, for a non-rooted HOX, what battery time and screen-on time is considered "good"?

Battery Drain after OTA Froyo

I have no idea how to solve it. I have charged my Desire to 100% and after 3 hours I have only 20% left. I have not been using it much. Before upgrade it took about 24h to be only 20% left... Moreover the phone is hot when I touch it. How to solve it...?

I'm having the same issue!
It seems that the phone does not go to sleep (up time same as awake time)
Any help is appreciated as my phone dies within hours
Mine has done the exact same thing... With in approx 3 hours it had gone from 100% down to 50%, in the same normal usage in 2.1, it would of been lucky to drop 15% if that!!!
Mine dropped from 45% when i went to sleep, to 0 this morning!!

I cannot reproduce this, my battery life is a little better than with Eclair. However, I'd recommend downloading Android System Info from market. In the CPU Panel, you have the statistics of CPU clocking, it should give you heads up concerning a phone not going to sleep.
As for reference: my phone's CPU runs at 250 MHz 85% of the time, 1 GHz for like 10% and the rest is somewhere in between.
If you find anything, you should consider downloading Auto Task Manager as well and try killing anything unnecessary. It is not recommended to be using a Task Manager, but it might help in this case. Good luck!

Did you all restart after reboot? And did you flash the latest radio?
I flashed to froyo 7 hrs ago, played an hour with it to see the new features and went to bed and woke up still 80% of battery (after mentioned 7hrs, 6 of which my phone and i were sleeping )
Seems to be 245 mhz 50% of the time and 1ghz around 40% of the time, the problem is that I can see that my phone isn't going to sleep according to the battery info
The new radio is already flashed with froyo, isnt it?
And how do you flash a radio without rooting?

Have you tried a factory reset aka hard reset? It could also be some app that keeps the phone awake.

The one from ElectricSheep. The other one is probably not from Google, but from Googe. I'd also recommend looking at battery draining apps in the settings (certain bad live wallpapers can harm battery).
As said before, if you aren't using your phone all time and CPU clock at 250 MHz is less than 80% of the time, something is seriously wrong.
I have the same issue..
After froyo update, the battery lasts only a few hours not even using the phone much. If i put in flight mode the battery not discharge ..
I think it's a problem with radio and not of applications. I already tried hard reset..
Moreover, the phone become very hot..
I hope the htc resolve the problem. I'm in holiday
excuse me for my english

I think HTC did good work here, but I'm sad to hear other people are having issues. Anyhow, I don't think our impression of better battery life is purely due to real improvements, but also because they fixed the battery icon (like Apple did with the signal, but in the other direction...).
Prior to FroYo, my battery icon would look like "50%" when there would still be like 75% power, "90%" would look like 75% and so on. I noticed that when I tried several battery widgets. You know, it's all psychological
I had 55% yesterday night and at the morning i had 49%
idk if its bad or good
Found the problem!!! It was an LED widget stopping my phone from going to sleep, if you have it make sure to get rid of it ASAP!!!
Cheers guys!!

yes i use it on my g2 and it does save some battery life. idk how much to be exact but i do see some improvement in the battery life. all it does is turn off ur data when ur screen is off. thats all i noticed different. then when u turn ur phone back on it turns back on ur data. tmobile told me to use it when i had my, mytouch 4g but i never used it till i got my g2..
And on cm7 based roms it can control 2g 3g to save batt too!
Sent from my HTC Vision
Love the app. I've had it since my G1 days and it works wonders on the G2 as well. I've been having troubles with the AOSP helper the past month or so, so I've had to control my 2g/3g manually, but when it works right its even better.
great app. you can set all sorts of power saving features on there. you can set it to connect to 2g/3g at set intervals, get it to connect to a wifi whenever you enter the area you use wifi the most. ive noticed my battery life does quite well with it.
This app is so amazing that I bought the ultimate version. This app is very affective. I recommend using for all devices, especially ones that have roms that use lots of battery life.
i use it with my g2 and it really better my battery life even by default setting.
thanks, one of the best apps which I used!
Love the app, I have ultimate version. Enable wifi in certain places doesn't always work. Btw don't get juice plotter, I liked that app at first but then I was draining my battter in 2 hours just w screen on even thou it has really good concept.
I recently installed the ultimate version & noticed a huge improvement soon after. I'm in love with this app & can't see my self not using it. It's been 17hrs+ and I'm still @ 23% with moderate use.

I have the Ultimate Version. My phone was on battery for about 18hrs with moderate usage today.

Now I wonder what causes such a big difference from regular to ultimate. Maybe just a placebo affect?
I have the free verson of it, and I`m happy.
does it have support for gingerbread now??
Yes, juice defender works marvelous! If you want you phone to last the whole day and your not using it just enable juice defender and it can last as long as 2 days.
Very usefull

works pretty alright for me as well.. i guess the auto turning off of data does help to a certain extent.. if you are using the phone constantly, then i think there would be minimal difference..

HTC One V battery charging

Hello everyone
I am using my HTC One v for about a week and the battery drains quite fast
I don't play any heavy games or use too much apps
I turn off the wi-fi when I don't use it and the screen is on automatic brightness
the battery drains even in sleep mode
and I would like to know the best way to charge the phone
I've read several forums and somwhere (I don't remember where) I've read that li-ion battery needs some time to become the full potential
Is this true?
and if it is does anyone know how much time it needs?
by the way the phone is not rooted
Thanks in advance!

Battery life is killing me

Hi all, I bought my brand new original HTC One X 3 days ago and it got the newest android version for it, JB. But there is a big problem and it is the battery, it's just horrible to see such a awesome phone with a battery life like that. Does anyone know which things I can do to have a better battery life? I already have the almost lowest brightness, no live wallpaper and no antivirus on the phone. I also use the official energi saving function that comes with jelly bean but it doesn't even make the battery better at all, not even a little bit. Please help!!!

You will find your phones battery life will improve, mine wasn't that good for the first few days.
When ever i get a new phone i always charge it over night & then when its off charge leave it till it bleeps to be put back on charge, do that for the first few times as i find it gives the best life.
Mine is very good now

can u say how long your on screen time or general battery life is? but at the first few times/days/weeks it's really bad but after few charge cycles it will bet better because the battery has to improve itself with the information the phone gives, you know? wait and charge and after a week or so it will be really better...
Or if you just disable google now you will be good. If you disable google maps aswell your battery life will be perfect. Something is wrong with those two
That issue is just with jelly bean

if you play more then 1 hour or so then that's not so bad because if you play a game or two only from full charge you can reache 2- 2,5 hours...with games like THD games or other which make a lil bit more heat or so ....and if you play only games like solitaire for this time or so ...then that's really not normal...you know that in the hox are 4 cores and 8 gpu cores, and therefore the battery isn't like in a phone with 2,500 or more mAh because our has only 1,800 mAh ...if yo uwant to disable it press long home button and then you can press the menu button and there will be settings in that you can disable google now and for the other google things just go in settings then apps and then all apps and there you can click on any app ! but don't deactivate system apps! and if you click on them there will be a button deactivate and yes press it and it is disabled
I usually play Dead Space but not for more than 20 minutes because the phone heats up like hell -.- And I disabled google now hope the battery will be a little bit better, but any more ideas how I can get better battery life please
With my HOX, I found having brightness at 60% or less made the biggest impact. Also, disabling wifi when not needed made a huge difference. Decrease the time between auto syncs, and also check for wakelocks. Might have an app waking the phone a lot.
But I do understand where you are coming from. The battery life was killing me also, so I bought a Note 2 as a primary phone and now use the HOX as a music player for which it is outstanding haha
the first time the battery is always bad ._. just wait some days or so and it will be better...and look with betterbatterystats which wakelocks you have then you can see which apps might make the battery life also more worse...
Thank you very much I will try them, the battery seems to be a little bit better when I turned Google Now off

Pretty obvious, isn't it? Plus the Snapdragon S4 Krait has a better manufacturing process (I think 32nm) compared to Tegra 3's 40nm process, so it's more efficient and less power hungry.

Not true. Look at the RAZR Maxx. If Motorola can put such a huge battery in a thin phone, there's no reason other manufacturers can't. Also, it was definitely possible to put a bugger battery in the One X, but HTC just didn't do it. They instead released One X+ sometime later and claimed better battery life as a 'feature'. That's just wrong, and very similar Motorola releasing the RAZR, and then the RAZR Maxx soon after. The phone should have had that battery since the start. The only reason I can find with Motorola is that the RAZR is slightly thinner for those who want it that way. But the One X and One X+ have 0 design difference.

My point was in comparison to old phones.it'll be a long time before we get as good batrery life as on old phones. Reason being smArt phones just do to much nowadays..many forgetting it's actual purpose

Just don't forget that the T3 is a pretty "old" chip, it needs a lot of power.
Nevertheless, I think the One X isn't that bad regarding battery life. It will drain quickly if you start gaming, but you should expect that. It's no gaming device, it's still a smartphone. Of course you can play your games every now and then but if you expect you can game with that thing for hours without getting it to heat up or charge it in the meantime, you put your money on the wrong device

HTC one x battery life

Hi I've just recently decided to swap my xperia ray for a second hand HTC one x and unfortunately the battery life is horrid, under 4 hours and the battery is below half. 3g is on 24/7 and I didn't browse the internet for even a second , only text and call and I can't believe it, seriously considering taking this back unless somebody can convince me otherwise. All I use is the internet and calls and texts, and if it can't even handle those , then how am I going to be able to use the internet ..

are u using a custom rom ...? if not then say which base it is...3.14 oder 2.17 ...
You might try searching the forum, there are LOTs of battery related threads.
Install BetterBatteryStats (search here for it and how to use it), and check wakelocks and partial wakelocks, should tell you what is preventing the phone from entering deep sleep.
i like the battery life of my phone very much but also think, when you are using a custom rom, the rom and the kernel need to settle and i think, this take a time.. try one and give it 1-2 days, until you see the real battery draining
Came from Xperia arc myself, but wasn't expecting tremendous battery life, tbh. That said, there's virtually no drain in screen off on any stock based rom, so it evens out. Haven't tried aokp, cm10 or miui due to the pretty horrific battery life on the arc with them.

the battery life of the htc one x is an enigma to me (no other word can do justice to how much confusion it's causing)....I understand everyone uses their phone differently but the battery life shouldn't be all over the place as it is. My battery is lasting between 24 and 48 hours regularly with normal use i.e. normal everyday use on my one x, calls texts, camera, finding a place on maps while lost etc etc
screenshots attached.
I understand a lot of the problems are being caused by the phone not going into deep sleep. One of the ones I pinned it down to was if you go into Maps and check the location settings through there...i've turned them all off (and i still get correct google now information).
If someone wants to try that and then let us know what its like then that'd help everyone.

well not quite sure what you're doing with your phone - in that image, your mobile signal is only on for about half of the total time? did you have it in airplane mode or something?
my battery is pretty terrible - actually shocking the past few days. I can't even get through a full work day without it being down to <30%, which is only 9 hours or so. I've had power saver turned on all the time, too. I use it a bit for texts during the day and that's about it - no heavy data use. so I have no idea what's sapping it so heavily. it's quite bizarre. even if I try to micro-manage my data by turning it on only when I need it, I still get down to 40%.
this is on a stock ROM by the way. considering changing to a lighter weight custom ROM to see if that helps, as this is just ridiculous!

actuallyi just glanced at ur screen shot and for u it might be the mobile radio. It seems like ur signal is spotty for most of the time. this drains battery like no other when trying to find a good signal this goes with wifi too
HOX's battery live was terrible at first. (ICS & Old kernel)
Now it seems that it has reached its max capability. It saves the day, but it would be great, if the battery had been 2100 mah.

@op you could try the battery calibration. Charge phone till green light, once fully charged unplug and switch off the phone and charge again till green light now switch on and use phone.
You should now have better battery.

Calibration doesn't do nothing and certainly not gonna give you better battery life.
