Touch Screen Replacement Question - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I dropped my Evo and now i want to fix it and want to order the parts but i read something about a wide flex cable and narrow flex cable does that pertain to the LCD only or the glass itself?
i have the wide flex cable (2WCA)
So to make my question clearer To buy the screen (Glass) not the LCD does it matter which flex cable i have??
TIA

Change LCD Cable

Hi there!
While replacing the speakre of my BA the lcd cable broke. But I already changed the lcd some time ago and now i have one broken lcd with a good cable and one good lcd with a broken cable.
Does anyone know how i change the cable?
Sorry friend, I had made the the same mistake; there's no way to replace it.
You have to buy a new BA lcd screen.
Well....
Some of those ribbon cables are attached to the glass via what amounts to glue. Electrical contact is done just by touch (no soldering).
At this point, I'd take apart one of the LCD's to see. It's not like you are going to make things worse if you break the glass on the dodgy LCD, it's already dead, correct?
Just try to post the results so the rest of us know as well!
yeah please post your results...
better if you have pics for it.
... im interested in "frankensteining" our BA's

Qtek 9090 LCD problem

Hello! I need an answer to a question: what is the problem to my Qtek 9090 LCD? I cracked only the touchscreen glass (not the entire LCD screen). I had another Qtek 9090 that was not working, but that glass was OK. I changed the glass (this one had a wider cable and I soldered it) and it is working just fine. But the display isn't showing all its colours, it show only a few (I think 16 colours ). What can I do to solve this problem? Can it be a problem to the LCD's ribbon cables? Please help me! I need a solution as soon as possible. It's enough if you tell me where is the problem and I can do the fixing. Thank you very much!
With the cracked touch screen, lcd show all colours? maybe when you soldered the new glass you soldered another thing also.. i don't know.
I changed the glass (this one had a wider cable and I soldered it) and it is working just fine.
You can tell what you do to change the touch screen and how you solder it? All touch screen need to be soldered?
thanks and good luck with your problem.
any help? thanks

I'm electronic technician, let me explain you, the flex wire need an especial low termic solder past cause it need 0 resistance to pass the little signal through the flexible line, when you damage the flex wire the resistance was incresed and the signal it afected, oviusly the image gonna afected.

HTC EVO digitizer glass cracked:(

I have hardware version 0003, the display works fine just the top glass got cracked, can someone point me in the right direction for a new digitizer assembly? I found one on amazon new for 24$ but have no idea if it will work for my phone.0002 vs 0003 I read have different ribbon cables.
Sent from my EVO.
When this happened to me, I couldn't tell that the LCD had also cracked. I bought the digitizer only, and when I took apart the phone, I realized that I didn't have the parts I needed to fix it.
I can tell you that the correct P/N for the Novatel screen is 2V6A, but I am not sure of the P/N for the Epson screen. Check which screen you have by adjusting the brightness.
If when you adjust the brightness it switches with a fade effect, then you have a Novatel screen and you need the 2V6S ribbon. However, if it switches quickly and suddenly from one brightness setting to the next without a fade effect, then you have an Epson panel and you need the other ribbon cable.
So, I know it's been posted a lot in other places but I couldn't find like, a definitive answer as to if there are different digitziers? Am I just confused?
I would like to try and just replace the digitizer and glass over top of the LCD, my LCD works fine, the cracks are really thin and only a few going across diagonally. It fell from maybe 2 feet off my lap onto a parking lot surface.
I understand there is two LCD pannel types like you said, but are there two digitizer types/sizes?! for that ribbon cable.
I'm completely comfortable with taking it apart, I'm just worried I'll get the wrong part and find out the screen is also cracked and have to end up not using it for days until new stuff ships.... bleh
I've found digitizer+glass on amazon for 24-30$.
How do I adhere it to the LCD though, says doesn't include anything to do that.
EDIT: Found this gem: http://www.durapowerglobal.com/HTC-EVO-4G-Digitizer-Adhesive-_p_1166.html
Adhesive wont be a problem I just need to know about the glass/digitizer
EDIT2:
OKAY, if you want to ignore all i've said so far here is my real question of what I need to know.

Is there only ONE digitizer/glass piece on any given HTC EVO 4G? Or is there two different types like the LCD?

How to replace ribbon cable?

Well, In replacing my spring I broke the flex cable somehow. Kinda irritated at myself, especially since I have my old razr in my pocket, but oh well. I have one ordered on amazon, and my phone is setting on my desk torn apart. Unfortunately, how to replace the flex cable is not immediately obvious to me, as it appears that it's one ginormous piece , and glued down in certain spots.
I figured I'd do some research waiting for my new cable to get here, but I'm finding nothing. The tear down guide that was very helpful in replacing the springs and tearing it down to find the damaged part of the cable is of now help on how to get the cable off!
My first instinct is just to get something flat and pry up the glued parts, assuming that I'll be aligning everything when I get the new cable, but I thought I'd ask first if there is some better solution.
Well, for posterity, that really was all there was to it. There are several easy reference points on the ribbon cable as to how to line up the new one, if you're lucky there will still be some adhesive from the original. The only slightly tricky part is getting the Microphone seated just right, and getting the screen-> mainboard cable through all the slots it has to go through.

Volume flex cable

Hey,
I just replaced my front screen. I ended up getting the lcd + digitizer + frame assembly replacement part and had to basically move the flex cables from one frame to the other. While doing this I accidentally damaged the volume flex cable. Finding a replacement volume flex for this phone seems to be impossible for me. Does anyone know where I could possibly find a replacement?
The model is a Canada E973.
Thanks,
Jaycuse
I found this
stellatech.com/lg-e975-optimus-g-volume-flex-cable,a,en,814988.html
Sorry can't link because I don't have enough posts.
Do you think it would be the same peice as the lg e975 .. I imagine if it's a similar case and the same mainboard it should be the same thing. Could anyone confirm?
