[Q] US Cellular Version - HTC Wildfire S

I'm about to buy a US Cellular version and a bit confused, what is the alias for this variant so I know which custom ROMs work for it?

Or... will any CDMA rom work for it? I don't need the radio to work, just using it as a WIFI player (mostly as a GPS tracker for running and listening to music)

CDMA owners using sim capabilities, no internet and texting with new zimage builds?

I've been watching android a bit and the development has been stellar. I've been using my sim card on my cdma device to test and so far all has been working. But with the recent builds, internet or texting does not work. Is this because of 3g? I've tried switching to 2g but that didn't help either. My question is what should I do to get data and sms working on my rhodium 500 (CDMA world) touch pro 2?

Try removing your SIM card, i'm running the latest version of Android for TP2 by MrPippy on PPCGeeks and its running great, 3G Data, voice calling, Wifi, keyboard, marketplace etc.
the last time i tried running android i left my SIM in the slot, and i couldn't do anything except look at the phone's interface,
the world phone (only version of TP2 from Verizon) uses Vodaphone services by default when it detects SIM card on Android for some reason, so this is most likely why the Android developers tell everyone to remove the SIM card.
Hope that helps

You're using the GSM service on your CDMA TP2 domineus?? Did you take a Verizon or Sprint TP2 and bring it over to AT&T or T-Mobile's network? Either way, you may have a more unique setup than most of us.
For the most part, I'm experiencing the exact thing as schwartz1; my Verizon TP2 (CDMA) works GREAT with the latest MrPippy Android release. Like schwartz1 said (as well as in the detail instructions from the thread), you need to remove your SIM card for it to work. I verified with VZW a while back that it's just there as a placeholder; you don't need it if you'll be within the USA.
Good luck
I'm in the same boat... I'm using my sprint tp2 in germany and the cdma android builds the voice and data don't work at all but the gsm xdandroid cab worked for voice and data once out of 8 times I booted... can't figure out what got it to work that once though.
surprisingly the gsm cab worked well dated march 8
but the zimages have been giving a lot of issues for me...

Possible Switch to GSM ONLY on ([ROM] ICS Megamix 4.0.3 [4/10/12])

The service in my house is pretty crappy and for the most part i use the Edge network. I my phone on stock does get a 4G signal, but it doesnt work. This ROM doesnt have the option to switch between WCDMA and EDGE....is there a fix to the or app or anything?

Use Llama to turn off 4g based on a location profile.
current ics u guys have was derived from us, the skyrocket community, which is based off an AT&T leak. AT&T disabled network switching in the elm framework, so there is no way to currently do this. Once we get an ics official drop (or leak ) from either Rogers or T-Mobile, the devs will cook up a solution

[Q] T-Mobile SGH-T999 Custom Rom question

Hey guys,
I have the T-Mobile SGS3 and I want to install a custom rom but I am afraid to lose the Wifi T-Mobile Calling and Text messaging. I go overseas a lot and I need this feature to avoid roaming.
Does anyone know of a custom rom that I can use that will still support his feature that only T-Mobile has? I have been able to save a few hundred $ in roaming fee's by switching to T-Mobile when I am in Asia or Europe.
Thanks in advance for any help!

The stock roms based on official releases have WiFi Calling working. I'm on Xquizit v70 and it works perfectly. I'm not sure about the JB leaks. I was wondering if it was functional on those yet.
I know that the CM9/10 builds do not have WiFi Calling functional.
Everything with touchwiz has WiFi calling. Everything else does not.

[Q] Will different model roms work wirh other model?

[DOMESTIC][UNLOCK] Domestic GSM confirmed working on some AOSP roms

I can confirm that you no longer need to use the much outdated CM11 T-Mobile ROM, T-Mobile Stock ROM or the RayGlobe Flex ROM in order to use a USA domestic sim such as T-Mobile. I noticed that the BUILD.PROP on the T-Mobile CM11 ROM has some enabled goodies which do not come on the default CM11 for the LS980. That made me wonder what if I use a unified ROM (built for all variants) instead of the ROMs available on the Sprint G2 section? The build.prop there will still include capabilities for GSM devices, which CyanogenMod seems to strip in order to avoid switching to GSM (correct me if I am wrong). Anyways I gave it a go using the LS980 Bliss Pop ROM based on 5.1, which is found in the non-carrier specific section of the G2 Android Development, and sure enough I was back to being a Sprint device. Using the dialer, I accessed the Testing menu by dialing *#*#4636#*#*, switched to WCDMA preferred, and it seemed to have revert. Then I clicked WCDMA only and it stuck and I could see my signal bars changing. THEN I switched it to GSM/LTE and FINALLY HSPA+ appeared. Calls, texts, data, it all works as the APNs were already auto selected. MMS DOES NOT WORK. I've been using it like this for the past couple of hours and no issued so far. I cannot remember if I did the official unlock available on our section of XDA as I've had quite a few of the Sprint version on and off, but I really do not see what role that plays in the matter. If it doesn't work for you, then you probably do need to use the official unlock.
***Again, if my theory is correct, this should work only on unified ROMs, which are ROMs compiled for all/multiple variants.
It never worked for me on stock CyanogenMod ROMs for the LS980, thus my theory. Another theory I have is that since Sprint now allows domestic unlocks, these phones may be free to enter the domestic side if you can get them to recognize a domestic sim...
If you want pictures/proof, ask, its about 5am in my time zone and I'm too lazy to take them and upload them.
If you want to force HSPA+ instead of HSPA, use the "HSPA+ Tweaker" app found in the Play Store.
If you feel like this is good news since you use this device on a carrier other than Sprint, remember to thank me.
If you are in another country and are willing to experiment, try it and I'll update my OP as soon as I can.
If you have already mentioned this in another thread, this is my own thread, started so that others can see it easier rather than having to accidentally stumble across yours in another thread.
EDIT: Can confirm it works on other AOSP ROMs. When switching network modes, you must have a stable data connection or else it will automatically try to connect to Sprint towers.
MMS DOES NOT WORK!
Outside the usa GSM sims works perfect on every not SPRINT rom (stock based like cloudy or optimus, or AOSP/CM based)

Thus the first word in the title of this thread is "Domestic". Back then, you couldn't get a USA sim working with those AOSP based ROM, heck you couldn't even use it if the rom wasnt modified to spoof the T-Mobile version, see for yourself the domestic "unlocked" roms I mentioned above show your device as a D801. There has always been the international unlock which can be used even on stock, but that wouldn't help USA users.
