Epic 4g on Pioneer Appradio 2 - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

has anyone been able to successfully pair the Epic 4g with the apps2radio?
I was able to get the pair it fine. But when trying to use the apps or Pandora...the icon is blacked out. (meaning i cant select it)
the install went great. everything works accept the apps. i even downloaded all the supporting apps on my epic.
I feel like im missing a step or maybe the epic isn't compatible. A little help please.
Epic is running CM9 4.0.4 ....

bump!

The Epic 4g is not a compatible phone as far as ive found. (I have the same phone)
It is not able to display video out of the usb port meaning its not an MHL enabled device.
Hope this Helps
Im waiting for the Galaxy s 3 or maybe getting a gs2

yeah i realized that...i upgraded to the ET4G ...ill say im happy with it...but at the same time i miss the keyboard alot. haha...and 2.3.6 sucks...i rooted and loaded CM9 the same day i bought it....put it back into the radio and it didnt pair...after a lot of research I come to find out CM9 does not support HML ...so no pairing took place...so i went back to the stock build and cleaned house on it till a Rom comes out that supports HML....the appradio2 doesnt like roms to much lol

Really frustrated with new Epic

I just replaced my Hero with an Epic a week ago. I hope this was a wise move but I am having second thoughts. The Hero was barely usable until I rooted, then it was actually pretty good - slow but good. Anyway, I was looking forward to having a phone I could just USE without having to root it or really screw around with it. I guess that is not the case with any Android phone...
Biggest issue is bluetooth. It sporadically works. Generally to get it to work I have to delete it from my car radio, then reinstall - same with the phone. This is not acceptable. Again - I had similar issues with Hero until I rooted - then bluetooth was perfect. I also liked to use an app called RadarNow that I cant get to work on the Epic. Last but not least, I cannot 'mount' the Epic to my PC. PC simply doesn't see the device.
I really appreciate your suggestions! SB
Bluetooth issues with the Epic are pretty common, and caused by Samsung's proprietary bluetooth stacks, once CM7 is complete bluetooth should be flawless.
I haven't tried Radar Now so I can't speak on it, maybe another user can.
Install/Reinstall the Samsung USB drivers and use a cable other than the one included in the box.
I installed the USB drivers this morning. I hope they were from the proper place. No change. I haven't tried changing cables yet.

If you got them from the Samsung website then they were from the right place. Do that then report back, the one included in the box is a piece of junk.

I never have BT issues and here are the drivers if you're running Windows
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/SPH-D700ZKASPR
I do not have any BT issues and my epic is perfect in every way - although I am on a stock rom and a patched stock kernel.
I am rooted though, but only so I can do a recovery and removed only two pieces of Sprint Bloatware; Nascar and Football
I haven't used radar now since early in my hero days, but rainy days is just like radar now & works perfectly.

OK 0 it is clear now that I am going to have to root this phone. Can someone tell me what ROM is the best for bluetooth as this is very important to me. Also - is there a way to keep the Sprint TV after rooting?
I came from the hero as well and even on stock The Epic was so much faster and snappier than my rooted Hero was. I have also never had any BT issues in fact it is one of the things I really love about it. I can listen to music all day with maybe one or two skips and this is from the music player, slingplayer, xm radio or pandora. I use a Blue Ant T1 and just bought a Pioneer Nav system for my car and they both work great. You may have a bad phone but hope you get it working.

Try EC05 Plus or SFR 1.2 with Genocide or Vision kernel also make sure you enable journaling.
I came from a Hero 8 months ago as well and up until 3 weeks ago was running a completely stock untouched Epic, not rooted or anything and have never had any issues with BT. Might be worth exchanging it if you really want to stay stock. Maybe you just got a bad device.

Rooting their friends phone

Anyone root their friends phone? I did 2 in the last week. AT&T Inspire and my wifes Nexus S 4G. I put Sense 3.5 on the Inspire and Miui on the Nexus. I've forgotten how cool Miui is. I'm afraid if I put Miui on my friends phone we'll panic because he's so used to sense. Anyway I just thught I would open it up to hear any storeis, or horror stories of other peoples expierences.
how does your wife like the nexus s 4g? I'm thinking of getting one for my son.
3 motorola cliqs (all mine, those things were garbage and I kept having to send them back lol)
1 mytouch 3g slide (mine) running cm6
1 HTC G2 (mine) running stock rooted
5 HTC Evo 4g (one mine, two the gf's, the clerk at speedway at 3am and an out of town friend)
1 HTC Thunderbolt (cousin)
1 Epic 4g Touch (mine)
I'm also about to root 2 more HTC Evos that a couple of friends bought (first time smartphone owners) and I'm on call for a Moto Photon when my gf upgrades in a few months.
My favorite story though is the Speedway clerk. I'm a regular there and the nightshift knows me pretty well. Well the guy said he couldn't afford wifi at home anymore so he couldn't play any online games. I took my computer down there not knowing that none of the wifi tether apps worked for our Epic 4g Touch yet. I got down there and realized that I couldn't get internet on my computer whatsoever. So, I downloaded Revolutionary (the program that roots HTC Evos now) on the phone, put it on my computer, then input the codes and stuff in the web browser on my phone while the computer did all the work. Then it failed pushing recovery (not interwebz on the laptop), so I had to download amon ra on the epic touch, put it on my computer, then on his phone and flash via bootloader.
From there I hooked him up with a gingerbread w/sense 1.0 (stock for that phone) rom with busybox and root already installed. Showed him how to make wireless tether work.
He and my brother play CoD on the ps3 together almost daily now.
Quick troubleshooting with over $1500 worth of technology in a gas station that's been robbed before at 3am FTW!!!
She loves it she won't even pick up

New Liquid Rom 1.2 question plus confirmation

Hey,
Gotta get those posts up so I can ask and confirm stuff in the Dev thread Been crazily flashing my GNEX! lol
Just confirming that the latest Liquid Rom 1.2 runs well using the latest Popcorn kernel! Nice and fast plus completely stable. I use my phone heaps and I am totally happy...... well I was until this afternoon :-(
Bluetooth - Got a brand new stereo for the car today, and the phone won't connect to it via bluetooth. It searches and finds the stereo, but it won't connect. The sales guy's stupid iPhone connected straight away, so I changed roms there and then. Flashed AOKP Milestone4 and it too wouldn't connect :-( So I flashed it with the latest Gummy 0.9.0 and it worked!
I do like the Gummy rom, but I prefer Liquid. Is there a fix, or is there something that I didn't do that I should have? I always do a full wipe before a flash so I know that isn't it.
Help would be appreciated
update
UPDATE:
Flashed Liquid Rom 1.2 again and initially bluetooth connection did the same thing as before, but the second try it worked! So I am very happy
Popcorn kernel running beautiful on it. The test will be over the weekend when I spend some time mucking around with the phone (gotta go to stupid work tomorrow!).
Sure am loving my GNEX! And this forum of course!!! ;-) Been a long time lurker... flashed my old Galaxy S2 many many months ago from info I found on this forum. Since them I have already flashed the GNEX with around 6-7 different ROMS.
Not only is this place a great source of plain old info, but the info that you do find here is explained well enough for even noobs like me to understand

Need Help With Signal problem

Hi Everyone,
I'm making the call out for help cause i just can't figure out how to fix my issue, and if i search i just get lost on posts. So here i go, i will explain the situation. I had a working 1+1 until about a month ago which i realize did not work properly in my house either. (Real problem is the screen is broke thats been taken care of with oneplus rma) So while waiting for my 1+ to be picked up i decided to get out my old galaxy note 2. My cell is on Rogers provided by my work (Which im totally thankful for) but they provided me with a Galaxy S3 mini while waiting for my 1+ to be fixed. The s3 mini sucks ass it barely plays ingress and the screen is super small BUT the NETWORK H+ works perfectly fine in the house!
So i decided to crack out the Note 2 and use it, it had been sitting in the drawer for a while, i had a N5 which i gave to my wife when i got the 1+! I prodeeded to oem unlock and root the note 2. All worked flawlessly with odin as it always does with all the phone i root! Installe TWRP 2.8 latest and greatest! went and got some roms KK, i gave 5.1 a try but it was just didnt work properly! (I am TOTALY happy with KK 4.4.4! ) The screen is big and ingress works great! When im outside my house on the buss or road i am able to get HSPA or LTE connections no problem! But in my house .... NO GO im on edge! =( even sometimes no connection in my room, so i get a bunch of sms like the next morning when i come to the living room and the E connects!
I realize now i had the same issue with the 1+ .... My Nexus5 from Rogers works GREAT (no rooted stock everything, my kids s4 mini from fido also stock not rooted connected to lte fine also) The s3 mini stock also works fine but why not my rooted phones?
i have all the rogers APN's configured, none work in the house! =( i have tried 5-6 diff roms, they all dont work!
any direction or help is welcome!
thank you
mike
Sounds as if service within your home is questionable.
.
Perhaps you should look into a signal booster for the inside of your home..
I have the same issue in my home and with a booster installed my signal problems are gone...g
