Hey guys I've been reading around and in order to change the boot logo (not the animation) apparently you have to create a flashable zip...there isn't a file you can replace..I think. Anyone know how to switch? I want to replace ours with gsii one

Do you mean the Boot animation? If so there are many good custom ones. Instructions can usually be found within those threads..

What ROM are you using? I have never seen a reboot or shut-down animation and have no idea why there would be one

I use that ROM and have the boot animation customized. Just look at the links DirkGently1 posted. Make sure though its compatible with Leedroids kernel. i flashed one the other day and ended up in a boot loop no matter what cache i cleaned after.
I'm running Freeza's 1.7 and I'm loving it, but I'm not a fan of the boot animation (the galaxy nexus boot animation). I am wondering how I can go about changing it to the international GS3 animation. I've tried searching and haven't found anything. Thanks for any help.

Rom toolbox products has boot animations... Why not try them? Does the rom allow custom boot animation?

I am also interested in this as well... I've been trying to find a bootanimation.zip of the SAMSUNG logo and it's animation...
Not a fan of seeing the "android" animation and haven't quite found a good alternate animation that catches my eye. xD

I had the CM10 ROM but just changed to Slimbean yesterday and I liked the screen off animation of CM10. Is like a old TV screen when you put it off. Someone know how to change mine to this one ?

I don't believe there is a more simpler way to do this, as the TV effect only comes from stock google , and Samsung has given development help to the cyanogenmod team to put the specific stock ROMs on their devices. So until they gone up with a flashable lock animation, you'll just have to stick with CM10

I've successfully rooted my phone with no problem and am running CM 10.1. Boot animation works fine, but when turning on my phone, I get no kernel splash screen (the screen you get right when you turn on your phone, before it hits the CM boot animation). It stays black, then after a little bit, goes right to CM boot animation.
I tried to make my own kernel splash using this method, but it made no difference. I'm running the latest TWRP. Is there any way I can get a splash image to show?

I tried "two" kernels. Right now I'm using ktoonsez's kernel (I thought he had a splash screen in it), and I also used CM 10.1's default. Neither of them had a kernel splash screen. Is it just because those two that I'm not seeing any splash screen?
Of note, is that when I'm getting ready to enter TWRP recovery, I DO see the normal Samsung Galaxy SIII splash.
For some reason these later aosp based kernels don't support splash screens..

I can confirm that also. AOSP kernels do not have a splash screen, but stock and Touchwiz based ROMs/kernels do have a splash screen.
