How to S-Off - Wildfire A3335 - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have root (Hboot 0.8) on my Wildfire but unfortunately it is the A3335 variant which according to some here is difficult to S-OFF without using XTC Clip.
I started off with Revolutionary but hit a wall with Hboot it needs. So got a Goldcard but then worried about possibility of screwing up my radio (Telstra Next G) changing to HBoot 1.01 - advised don't try it on A3335 (due to some NAND error with Revolutionary??)
If there is already a thread or guide on this I missed I do apologise but the threads I saw are quite old and just say it is either impossible without XTC clip, or difficult without- or advise don't try it on A3335 (due to some NAND error)- others suggest HTCdev are nearly there with a way to S-OFF.
Could someone please update me with the latest- my old Wildfire is sitting around and I'd like to experiment with a few different kernels which require S-OFF.
I don't care about warranty or rolling back, so anything goes- but if the Radio is screwed it wont be much use as a phone!

[Q] Wildfire custom rom question (XTC clip related)

Hi,
Im kinda new in wildfire stuff and i didnt find a simple answer for my question using search so.
When i use xtc clip to s-off my wildfire, does this allow me directly to install any ROM i want, or should i use any other tricks/tools to do so?
Thanks
I've done a little research on this. And theoretically you should be able to flash the old 0.80 hboot as when s-off is achevied with xtc clip or jtag etc there are no signature checks performed which would then allow you to root the old hboot with unrevoked and flash custom Rom. As for flashing the hboot I'm not aware if the xtc clip can do it directly. But the jtag clip can for sure.

Yes I can confirm this as I have an XTC Clip in my store.
It completely removes all S58 security data to leave the handset fully factory unlocked, super CID & S-Off, all without even rooting or flashing the phone, this clip is awesome and totally rocks my shop.

[Q] Is there a new eng s-off hboot for new mainboard?

Recently I changed my DesireHD's mainboard at service center and they put a newer mainboard into mine.
Because the newer mainboard is not compatible with old hboot (such as hboot in Build 1.32 or 1.43 or etc), when I try to downgrade or eng s-off, my desire hd boot very slowly with long vibration.
I find way to install CWM recovery with ship s-off, so i don't have problem with installing custom ROM or customizing, but I want to eng s-off my phone because of using fastboot.
So I'm looking for a new hboot which is eng s-off and compatible with new mainboard.
Anyone know what I want is exist? or Anyone can make it as a favor?
God bless my poor english
im having the same problem... now im on the eng off that really takes me 6 minutes to boot up htc white screen and 3 minutes of vibration then i can use my phone...
how do you return back to stock hboot?
There are quite many way. PD98IMG.zip, RUU, Upgrade, etc.
But I recommend this method paste.pocoo.org/show/
Try it, then it will clear up your problem
P.S.
Cause I'm a beginner in xda, I can't attach direct link in the post until I post eight posts, so I remove http from the link.

When ever I insert a sim it says network locked, I have read and followed some of the instructions on this forums with no luck and success in getting it unlocked. Im a noob whose been eager to learn the trade and I always come to loose ends, can anyone just point or direct me how to do this in a way I can do this successfully? Thanks you very much... I really appreciate you guys for doing such hard labor answering all of these questions.
Little background would help. How did you get S-Off, or did somebody else do it? And "followed some of the instructions on this forums" isn't very specific, there are several methods to S-Off and root.
gfree will give you S-Off. But not sure if you can run this if you are already S-Off.

Gfree gives u Sim unlock. You probably just have fake s off

It's all in the Wiki. S-OFF is not the same as SIM unlock, that's a totally different issue (but is often addressed at the same time as S-OFF etc).
So it seems you have some sort of S-OFF, but are still SIM locked.

[Q] Cannot S off my wildfire s

My girlfriend hope to remove some build in unnecessary app.
so i try to root her wildfire s.
But problems appear.
I am able to unlock the phone: from unlock to lock.
but then my hboot version change from. 1.08 to 1.08.0999
and keeping s-on
then I can no longer s-off it anymore.... Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all welcome to xda!
And second of all.....if you don't have a CDMA version of the Wildfire S....You CANNOT S-OFF it with a software for now.....there is a hardware called XTC-Clip which can S-OFF the phone but its too costly(check here)
And BTW unlocking the bootloader is enough for rooting the phone
If you looked around a bit you could have found about 20 similar threads......if you are new it doesnt mean everyone is new......people will just freak out looking at this thread
So please search before posting
About s-off
Sorry about that, I do search for long time about root. But since my hboot version is 1.08999 I cannot flash any recovery into my phone as they are all for version 0.9. Other say My version : unlocked hboot 1.08999 s-on is already mean s-off but I cannot flash any recovery to the phone....=[

[Q] Rooting wildfire a3333 hboot 0.80.0002

Hello everyone, i just got an old HTC Wildfire from my aunt and decided to root it and make it a useful secondary phone... the problem i ran into is the fact that it has HBOOT 0.80.0002.
I cant seem to figure out how to root it. I tried the full guide to rooting and de-branding but i got stuck first i tried to just use revolutionary, but that only supports hboot 1.01.0001 or something like that and then i tried to downgrade it (what u are supposed to do for 1.2.0002 hboot) but that didnt work either since i got stuck trying to create a goldcard image. Well i actually got the goldcard (found a functioning website online put in my CID and got the gold card, but the prtoblem was that i couldnt patch the mmc)
So anyone got any help for me? or a tip what tutorial i could try.
Phone info:
HTC Buzz (wildfire)
Hboot 0.80.0002
Radio 3.35.19.25
S-on
Firmware 2.1-update 1
Thanks for the help

If you run the unrevoked program it will root your phone with your current hboot. You could also consider working out your phones cid, (not the one from your goldcard) And then you could look for the correct update ruu. Upgrade to hboot 1.01.0001 and then use revolutionary and gain full s-off

Ok, unrewoked worked the second time around tried it before i posted here, but it stopped at pushing recovery image... i guess it must have been HTC sync (yeah forgot i had that instaled on this pc) when i uninstalled it as the software told me to it worked just fine. Rooted with CWM thanks for the help
Ok guys, is this even possible? I used Unrevoked and it worked nicely and got my phone rooted (super user) and CWM installed... but i still have S-ON... am i missing something here? should i flash something to get S-OFF or what? really confused right now...
Thanks.

Unrevoked never removed s-on, it used a root exploit to gain superuser access, install superuser and then flash a custom recovery. Revolutionary, which is a conjunction of team unrevoked and alpharev was the next step, after the upgrade to hboot 1.xx.xxxx unrevoked exploit no longer worked, so they found another I believe and forced a hacked bootloader into the phone, making it believe it was s-off even though the radio flag was still set to on confusing I know
so revolutionary s-off is from a patched hboot, and the xtc clip gives full radio s-off. The only real difference is that with xtc clip s-off you can remove SIM lock, but with the patched hboot you cannot, as the radio which houses the security (for all intents and purposes) is still set to on. The patched hboot just tells the hboot to ignore what the radio says and believe it is s-off all the time.
But before I ramble on you should be good to go with your hboot, but you may need to upgrade your recovery, in order to do this I believe you will need root and to flash the recovery by using a script called flash. I'll look Into it for you or, you could try the clockworkmod recovery app to flash the new recovery, you want 5.0.2.0 preferably
