HTC One S....I'm back to the GSII - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Had the One S for about a month, not a bad phone...but too many bugs. That phone cant hold a signal. I consistently have better signal on the GSII. Also when making phone calls with the One S other party always complains that m voice either sounds robotic or like i'm in a tin can. Since I primarily use my phone as a phone this is a big show stopper.
One great thing about the one s is battery life. With 3-4 hours of talk time and 3 hours of screen time, I still have 35-40% after being off the charger for 16 hours.

I don't blame you ....the one s feels cheap.
I can't believe no external memory and no removable battery....reminds me of an iphone.

I waited so long to get s 2 instead of sensation!

Tried out a one s in store as well. Just didn't seem as nice as the sgs2. Really glad I went with the galaxy instead... Especially when i read about all the problems in the one s forums.

I liked the design of the One S to a certain extent but, the more I looked at it the more it looked like a Sensation. Even has the same stupid, cheap cutout for the front cam, which is VGA (Yuck). I totally jumped ship, sold my One S and left T-Mobile and used to the money to buy an AT&T Note.

I had htc sensation 4g. Seriously, HTC sucks, bad signal ever. turn on wifi and phone signal is gone. thats bull ****. won't reccomended htc to anyone.

Had the itch to buy the One S on impulse.
Held back because well... didn't want to pay retail for a phone again.
I got an Amaze in the mail. I hope it doesn't disappoint.
I had mytouch 4G and only complain was ****ty battery life and speaker phone. Just sucks. Otherwise was stable.
HTC is full is like 90% good, and screw up on one piece of the phone that makes it suck. That 10%
Honestly I can say I'm pleased with GS2 overall and my minor complaint is screen resolution and placement of capacitive buttons. Its best phone I've had so far. So reliable and great battery life.
My only complaint is no CM7 Stable full support. I learned to live with Stock based ROMs. But whatever.

I had the one s for a week and went back to the SGSII I believe that the screen on the S2 is way better than the one s the camera on the one s is amazing but all in all S2 is still superior IMO

I exchanged My GSGII for a One S and I'm not coming back. The One S is faster, sleeker, sexier, and better phone overall. (IMO, I don't want to start a war.)
After Owning a SGSII for 5 weeks I was convinced it wasn't the phone I was looking for.
Looking Side By Side the T989 and the ONE S screen all of my friends concluded that the One S screen looked better (even tough the colors on the SGSII looks more saturated, the higher resolution on the One S really helps a lot)
For me choosing the One S over the SGSII was a no brainer.

I agree with everything you said, plus the battery life on the one s is awesome. But, as a phone for me it failed. The reception is much worse on the one s (no reception in places my SGSII easily had several bars) and call audio quality is much worse. Too many people complained that they couldnt understand me when I spoke. I am not the only one to complain about this either. CNET noted the same thing as well as other users in the One S forums. So as much as I liked it, it failed for me in its core functionality thus i reverted back to the SGSII which has amazing reception and call quality.

I have to agree, but that issue was fixed for me with a custom Rom, LeeDroid One Supreme (I think so far is the only one with this) have a patch that fixes the network stability Issue on Tmobile.
Anyway, the SGSII is also a great phone, and in white is a real head turner

I had the Tmobile Galaxy S2 and the international Galaxy S2. The Tmobile version is a beast to say the least. It has the best design and fast as hell. The one S is nice in black, the blue one looks like crap. But HTC has lost my trust in them. Ever since they've entered the dual core business since the sensation, they been EFFIN up.

I don't know...
To me,the one s flies.
Sense on the one s kicks ads.
Beautiful phone.but no ext sd killls it( eff the cloud).
But ummm...one s smokes this amaze and the gs2.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using XDA

So I bought the Amaze.....
I'm using it so far and its heavy, feels strange in the hand
I make way too many typing errors (wow bigger screen was better)
Speed is ok, after being away from sense i'm like .... meh....
I want CM7 or CM9 AOSP as possible
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is only day one, and I already miss my GS2 and some of its convenience. Hell, I prefer my G2X over the Amaze's heavyness and constant error.
Battery drains fairly fast compared to GS2
Its only day 1. Maybe I'm being too demanding.
Maybe the GS2 grew on me and didn't realize it.
I'm like torn between 3 devices. I will say this, if I have to travel and go out on road and vacation like trip, GS2 HANDS DOWN. That device was beyond reliable and awesome camera for my recent vacation.

Prices at Tmobiles doesn't make sense SGS2 vs Amaze

Samsung Galaxy S II full retail pricing is $529.99
HTC Amaze 4G (either color) full retail pricing is $559.99
IMO the Amaze is a bit inferior to the SGS2
yet it's priced higher than the SGS2
shouldn't HTC price it the same or lower to compete with the SGS2 ?
Besides the screen size resolution and display. The phones are equal. What I am guess amaze cost more money better quality materials. Also the camera on the amaze 4g makes it worth thirty dollars more.

More expensive to build, but not necessarily better. After having an HTC Sensation 4G, Samsung's phones are built much better.
They share the same SoC, some of you seem to believe that makes them the same exact phone.. it doesn't.
SGII is faster...
go to phonedog.com and try the zoom function, the amaze is a little laggy, did a speed test with both phone side by side the SGII double the amaze.
amaze have brighter screen, but SGII have better colors
amaze have better camera in daylight but horrible ****ty sound (surprise surprise) SGII does perfect in both department and i'm willing to bet amaze take horrible video at night..
soooo tmobile is stupid but thats good for us consumer

Having come from an HTC HD2 (which is built like a tank), I was put off a bit by the paper thin back cover on the SGS2. But then I tested the download speed and got nearly 20mbits/sec...and quickly got over it.
Haha, same here. Ran a speed test on a store demo and got 15 and showed all the reps who just got done telling me we dont have hspa+ in our area
I read an engadget or somewhere side by side comparison of the amaze and gs2. They said with heavy use an amaze gets 4 hours tops. That wont work for me. I got Almost 12 hours yesterday with very heavy use. Amaze is a sensation in new skin and new radio. I think the gs2 is superior in every way. My opinion...

I did the exact same thing. No overheating, great signal, smoother UI, lighter phone (due to its plastic-y design) and louder speaker. Overall this was a definite upgrade for me. I didn't get the Amaze because I figured I would still have the same issues I face with the Sensation and based off of the post I seen in the Amaze section I was right.

Same here, don't regret it a bit either. This phone is is much better than any HTC phone I've ever had, I can't believe I was so loyal to that brand for so long >.<
the only thing i can say is the HTC is mde like a tank... I kind of like the quality feel
HTC lost my attention earlier this year when they released all the 'S' models with basically just slightly improved hardware of the old ones.
It was time to switch to Sammy, and I haven't looked back since.

Good comparison. Reminds me of my dad's old Cadillac. It's been breaking down since he bought it, while my little Neon has yet to spend a day in a shop at 90k miles :3

leaving sensation for SGS2. need input

ok ive never liked samsung phones before till i got to play with this beast in the tmo store the other day ,ive already orderded mine and will be getting it in a few days.ive always i guess you could call it "hating" on samsung because i thought their build quality was poor and they tried to be too much like iphone. Well that was then and this is now.The sgs2 won me over instantly when i started playing with it and i even forgot i was looking at a screen with a lower resolution than my sensation because it was so clear and bright. i cant wait to root this thing and install custom roms .ive heard that samsung phones have data issues and reception issues. that didnt seem to be a problem with the demo i got to mess with .any info will be appreciated
that was only with the vibrant, so far that i know! My new sgs2 is fine with all that
I can't wait for root either. Coming from sensation, which is a big phone, this feels humongous. I am sure using different launcher we can utilize the screen size with 5x5 . Love it so far.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
yeah it looks massive. i had an HD2 which also was a little bigger than my sensation screen .i guess i just missed a big ol' screen to look at.I played som HD videos on both phones right next to each other and i really could not tell a difference aside from the samsung looked a little brighter. The camera on my sensation was probably a little better but i had the Amaze camera on it and its pretty good, but the camera on the S2 looked great as well so no loss there.Phone was snappy as hell and for people who judge by quadrants i was getting over 3300 on the Demo ,any how thanks for the replies
Like many people I've been eyeing the SGSII since last winter. I wanted it more than the Sensation. It just took the phone too long to drop here. I used a family upgrade on the Sensation in June and fell in love with it. The Sensation ruined me for this phone. I checked out the SGSII today and the 800 x 480 screen is a no-go for me. It's a personal thing for me as I like very tiny text on the screen and it is much easier to read on my Sensation. Plus there is a ton of ROM development for the Sensation. That and I'm perversely attracted to the feel on the Sensation.
The next family upgrade might still be with Sammy though as I'll be eyeing the Prime and even more resolution.
Other than that the SGSII is a beast internally. TouchWiz is lame IMHO but ROMs should fix that problem soon enough. I do like the phone a lot and don't want to say the Sensation is better, I just like it better. I had the wife try out the SGSII to see if she wanted one, but she just aggravated me. I tried to explain to her what a beast of a phone it is, but it was lost on her non-technical mind. That and she knew if she got it, I would be f'ing with it all the time.
Alas Sammy you guys took too long (probably US carrier's fault) and released this badboy here right before you drop the Prime? The delay cost you possible HTC converts (like me) and maybe Sammy fans with the Prime so close.
Is it just me thinking that way?
Sorry if I sound negative against the SGSII, the phone rocks so that's not my intent.
I can't stand vanilla android or small text, so no.
no offense here. main reason i got rid of my sensation is the damn dust under the screen issue . i dont know if i just hit a homerun in the bad luck dept. or what but i sent the phone back 4 times and the last return they sent me had the problem worse than any that i had. It didnt bother me at first but i just couldnt see paying that much for a phone with a repetitive defect so i decided to give samsung a try

Just out of curiosity. Has there ever been reports from older samsung phones that had dust in the screen issues?
I have a plug that I use for my aux 3.5mm but if I don't have to use it, then I rather not.
I do not know why HTC phones are so sluggish, although I love sense over everything else samsung or LG has to offer. But I will have to say, S2 is def a great pick. I got mine 2 hours ago and I was playing with it at work. Managed to do this -
now obviously its not rooted or overclocked. But getting a 3800 on quadrant on a snapdragon chip is pretty cool.

very very few compared to HTC
i have old HTC phones, and yes i do have lots of dust underneath the screen.
but in my case it's probably due the fact the phone shell cracked after too many falls
reason why plastic works better in that kind of scenario, at least it doesn't crack open like the aluminum body
Also, Samsung fuses their screens to the digitizer so there is no space for dust to get trapped in. That's also the reason why their screen seem so bright

Very good to know and hear, Thanks guys.
I cant wait to get home and get mine. i work offshore so i wont be able to mess with it until the 26th when i get home. Dont get me wrong i liked my sensation and with custom roms and over clock i achieved over 3000 on quadrants with a sense rom, but that was over clocked at 1.78ghz and honestly it just isnt safe. seems this phone has that speed and more already stock cant wait to see where development goes for it. And honestly the stock sensation Rom was crap and it seemed like they just crammed it in the phone without any testing
Yeah I had a sensation and eventually got over it. I am not a big overclocked/root/mod person but I'd hand it to samsung for making snapdragon s3 somewhat capable in front of tegra, omap and exynos.

It's their damn Sense that makes it sluggish. Such a resource hog. Funny how ROM developers working for no money make Sense run very well but HTC cannot. My Sensation with stock Sense was sorta "meh" but with optimized Sense ROMs it's amazing. Personally I prefer MiUi though.

SGS2 vs Sensation
Hey tmobile brahs!
I've had my Vibrant for a good year and a half now, and have been long waiting an awesome 4g phone. For the most part, I've simply been waiting on the SG2, but only recently found out that we had another solid option, the Sensation.
I'm currently reading up reviews on both, but i figured I might as well ask you guys, since most of you I'm assuming already have the phone, and had made the decision over the Sensation for a reason/s.
According to my friend, they're both nearly identical, except the GS2 having a slightly better screen. My only worry with the GS2 is, coming from the Vibrant, Samsung not releasing drivers and all that stuff, making GPS for example damn near impossible to perfect with the latest roms (post froyo). Never had an HTC so can't speak on them as a brand.
Thanks guys!

[Q] Which one phone to get?

Well, right now I have the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G.... My wife and I went into a T-Mobile store today and they informed us of a new plan they had that would save us about $100 a month. So, me, being the person I am, asks if the new plan will mess up my upgrade for my phone.... And lucky me.... Instead of waiting another 8 months for an upgrade, the new plan will actually allow me to upgrade then
So, long story not so short...
I am debating between the Samsung Galaxy S2, OR the HTC Amaze.... I was just curious as to why, if you already own the S2, you would or would not suggest it to someone? Thanks for any input in advance!
SGS2 hands down, best phone out for T-Mobile right now.

I expected biased answers... That is why I posted the same thing on the Amaze forum... What I am looking for is a more in depth on WHY people love their phone's so much... And what are the big things for them to keep them.
From a development standpoint, our SGSII has more support, kernels, roms and themes than the Amaze. Also CM has been confirmed for our phone as Cyanogen said it himself. I'm not exactly sure for the amaze as I don't visit their forums often. Imo, SII is the way to go if you like a variety of roms to choose from.

HTC has horrible quality control, their battery life on the amaze is ****, it's ugly, bleeding key lights, it's ugly, it's a sensation in a new case overclocked to 1.5.
The galaxy s2 is beautiful and the screen is awesome. It does have the vertical lines, but I think those can be fixed with a software tweak. The battery is crazy good and the phone has no bleeding key lights. Also the amaze is ugly, did I mention the amaze is ugly?

I so far have loved every single HTC device I have ever owned.... (Ok, I take that back... The HTC Shadow sucked balls... I had read about the screen bleed on the Amaze, but I haven't read anything about vertical lines
I went SGII for divx support. I guess it's not really a big deal though to most but to me it was.
I think the SGII will have a longer life than the Amaze because of developer support.
Plus I had heard that battery life on the amaze is pretty horrible. I wanted to make it through a day of work.

So it's pretty much just the random things that can happen with any phone if you just happen to get the bad apple? And I really don't mean for it to become that, if it does, I apologize to the community... I should just change it to, tell me what you love about your phone, and what you think a con is, if it has any... And leave out the story behind it
sgs2 all the way!! just read both forums and u will see
LOL
way to convince yourself to get a SGS2, posting in this forum you'll know the answer will be biased
You pretty much already know you want the SGS2, but you want to reaffirm the believe by finding out if there's any issues you should know about.
if you check the sticked INDEX you'll find out most of the issues
hope that helps!

You should definitely get the gs2. I came from the sensation and this is a way better phone. I know the amaze has the bump up in ram and the better camera (compared to the sensation) but I guarantee this phone will blow it out of the water. The sensation I had had no problems besides overheating so I was skeptical about the gs2 being that much better but it is. I also like the build quality of the gs2 which I didn't think I would. Oh another thing is sense is such a memory hog and the novelty of it was cool for the first week but after that I wanted aosp bad. So yea I think you should just go with the gs2 you won't regret it. And the vertical lines aren't really an issue its there but not noticeable in everyday use. I can really say that besides the vertical lines this phone has been perfect.

I had the amaze, I brought it back on the 13th day of my remorse period and got the sgs2. Best thing I've ever done! Hands down a better phone. Actually, best device I've ever had, and I come from a long line of HTC devices, but I am now a fan of Samsung, and even touch wiz if you can believe it. I'd recommend the

I can plug in my one gig hard drive full of 720p mkv movies and play them with out a problem what so evar! My tegra2 transformer cant do that, nor can my playstation, or my 360. Not sure about the amaze. One thing I am sure of between the two we will be getting ICS well ahead. With no crappy overlay, not that I dont like sense, just no point of it. With ICS all widgets are scrollable.
Coming from a sensation,.the sgs2 is a great improvement. The amaze to me is an ugly phone. The amaze also seemed extremely heavy. I could see chipping the elevated glass on the phone, and after going through several sensations, same as the amaze, with different problems well enough said. I'm extremely happy with the sgs2.

You have to know what you want in a phone to make your decision. Both phones has its pros and cons.
Galaxy S II Pros vs Amaze 4g:
Longer battery life, larger screen, louder speaker, does not/barely overheats, 2 megapixel front facing camera, better video playback/audio, no death grip issue with signal (both wifi and data), lighter materials with a premium feel means you can hold the phone in your hand for long periods of time without strain.
Galaxy S II Cons vs Amaze 4g:
Screen resolution isn't as great as the Amaze, the design looks much more rich on the Amaze, the Amaze has a slightly better camera especially in low lighting, the Galaxy S II does not have hardware camera and camcorder buttons like on the Amaze, No LED notification.

I sold my AT&T note yesterday to get a unlocked Galaxy Nexus. Thought about getting a one X but I mean a almost $800 unlocked price is a bit crazy for a HTC I think.
Plus I never used a HTC and even though sense 4.0 looks cool I'm not a big fan. I Bought a nexus to get the pure ICS experience without a overlay.
If anything wait for the Galaxy S3 if your gonna drop $800. Oh and beats by Dre mehhhhhhh. I'm not 18 lol.

The way I see it the cons are:
- slow updates from HTC
- no Super AMOLED screen
- Sense
- bloatware apps
- capacitive buttons (may be a - or + for you)
- power button on the top (personally I like it on the side, good for people with smaller hands too)
- non removable battery
and you don't get the awesome multicolored notification light on the Galaxy Nexus.
No Super Amoled Screen
After using a Super Amoled screen I can't use anything else!

You shouldn't be so quick to bash the SLCD2 on the new HTC's. Its being regarded as the best screen out there right now. Laminated (no gap), better viewing angles, better colors, and almost as deep of blacks as AMOLED, but full RGB 720P.

LOL. No joke. I had an Evo 4G and a G2, both of which had poor build quality (good materials shakily put together) and needed replacement (G2 once, the Evo several times over). Got my GNex and its solid and well built. I always found it funny that people regarded HTC for their build quality and I never thought they were miles ahead or anything, especially based on my experiences.
HTC has apparently stepped up its game on these models, though.

My fault. When I was looking a few days back a few places had them at around $760 or something. The non removable battery is a big deal on a android device usually because of the phones power and screen. Well really with any phones now of days including the 4S. Now the iPhone 4 had awesome battery life. But that besides the point.
I'd say hold off.

Actually, you should be our guinea pig and buy one. Then you can let us know +'s/-'s of the two.
I would get the HTC ONE because of the sexy hardware. Yeah people will say it sucks having HTC 4.0 sense but who cares. Custom roms will take care of that and alot of software issues which can always be altered. When hardware on smartphones can not.
IMO why not to get the One X, because you will regret it when the SGS3 drops.
Normally I don't like the “there is going to be something better" mentality, but the SGS3 is literally around the corner. At least hold off until we know more about the SGS3

I don't know about the others, but my HTC Droid Incredible was solid. Still have it and it's still a well built phone. Regardless, I'd stick with the Nexus or wait for the SIII.

Ah, I guess I will have to go see the SLCD2 for myself when the One phones finally hit. Have you heard anything about the screen's drain on the battery? AMOLED is supposed to be more battery sufficient isn't it?
And I agree on the HTC build quality. The materials they use are usually excellent, but on some of their phones the actual quality of the build leaves something to be desired. The only thing I see people disliking the most on Samsung phones is the plastic they use. I haven't heard any complaints on the actual quality of the build though.

AMOLED is actually not always so frugal on battery. It only does well when you have a dark UI or dark background (because individual pixels can turn off). It actually drains very high when you use high brightness levels. SLCD2 isn't going to be any better or worse I don't think. It's still going to be the largest drain by far on your device, especially at 720P and 4.7".
The way I see it, if u keep waiting for the "next better phone",you're gonna be waiting infinite amount of time because you'll hear information on a phone like the One X (for example) and when that comes out there will be info on the s3 and then you'll wanna wait for that, and then when that comes around to being released, the new Nexus will be rumored and you'll wanna wait for that and so on and so forth....pointless! Just buy a phone and use it! If u want the next one, sell yours and pay the difference! IMO, the smart thing to do is stick with a nexus if you're not into bloatware and plus development will be booming with every nexus! So many factors come in to buying a new phone, it sucks but cell phones are ruling the world right now!
And yeah I know quad core is all the rage but I've said it before and I'll say it again, these phones can't get any faster in terms of transitions and such lol! Yeah you'll notice on benchmarks and hardcore games, but that's what the ps3 and 360s are for (and ps4 and 720 next year) and get real! Nobody will care that your phones scores higher on a benchmark than someone else's if their running the same damn software!

Exchanged HTC one for s4 OMG AMAZING

Ok so I have had the s3 and the note 2 prior to switching to t-mobile, when I switched I figured id get the HTC one since I didnt or wouldnt have had that option with verizon, I must say I hated the phone. The hardware is nice dont get me wrong but the software SUCKS. The camera SUCKS. even the camera software is no were near as nice and useful as it is on the S4. I am so friggin happy with the s4 I dont know why I thought I would like the One. It may be the best device in the world for some but Id have to say to go from a samsung to an HTC Is like going backwards, and I even thought the gestures and smart scroll and all that would be to gimmicky and never get used but honestly, I love it!
Anyway, I just had to vent this. There were so many things wrong with sense in my opinion and if I can make anyones choice easier and allow them to be satisfied then hope I helped.

A friend of mine at work just got the HTC One and I must say, yes hardware wise it's a nice looking phone and the speaker quality is the best around no question. Other than that, the software was Meh, no 4.2.2. Thank God I went with the GS4, made the right decision.
A lot of people probably hate TouchWiz too until they got used to it. Count me as one of them (well actually, I didn't hate it). For me, I'm a Samsung guy and have had in succession the Note 2, S3, and now S4. A family member of mine has the Nexus 4 and while the phone was so debloated, so stock, I felt it was missing so many features. Yes, some people will love it that way, no bloat and pure Android. I'm so used to TW and all its (fancy) features, I feel any other phone is not as powerful if they don't have the same features.
Obviously, Sense is a different launcher/style than a lot of us are used too (by us, I mean the Samsung folks). That doesn't mean it's horrible. I for one would love to try out the Sense theme, if I can get my hands on an HTC One. I'm all in for new/different features - like Windows 8. A lot of people hated it from the start because it was so different, so not intuitive they say. In response, I have to say, get used to it before making the judgment. It's taken me a couple months just to get used to Windows 8. Certainly, the Metro I don't care with, and would prefer Win7. Until I can do the same thing with Sense, I can't say whether the difference with TW makes it better, worse, or it's just different than TW.
I feel you made the wrong choice. Those additional features will only be used for showing off and you only have about 8 GB of storage compared to about 28 on the one. Speakers are the best and I'm sure HTC will do a good job pushing out updates. Lastly, the one's screen is better and not as big so it is easier to use. I was going to get the s4 at first but then I asked myself what I really wanted. That's why I routed for the one

To each their own.
Me personally, neither phone could sway me away from the N2.

It's interesting, I recently purchased a TMO Galaxy S4 coming from a 2.5 year old HTC Sensation and I have *almost the exact opposite experience. The hardware (screen, form factor - obviously - it's just plain insane) and the camera software/interface is top notch! But the remainder of the experience felt like I was put back onto some odd looking, super sized font version of froyo - and not just by looks, I immediately noticed a drop in usability in some key aspects of the OS (e.g. email, sms, dialer, launcher) vs what I had gotten used to with HTC Sense.
Either way, not trying to be a troll. It's funny what we get used to and come to expect based on past experiences. The S4 will have to go back (thanks TMO return policy!) and it's gonna be me and the "old" HTC Sensation for a while longer. (I'd get the HTC One, but have to agree - no SD cards slot? wtf lol)

I've had a similar and also slightly different experience. I also came from an HTC Sensation which I've had for about 2 years, previously owned the og Galaxy S (Vibrant), and instead of the S4 I chose the HTC one, and got the GS4 for my wife instead.
Here are my observations since I actually have both phones and can compare them with NO bias...
-A lot of the online mainstream reviews you'll read between the two hit the nail on the head. The One imo is a better "phone". It does indeed have less features then the S4 (although many of them are gimmicks like the eye scrolling/tracking, airview, and a few others) but the speakers are far superior, which obviously aids for anyone who ever uses speakerphone or plays music and videos, the call quality is also a little better, the phone is more fluid and faster than the GS4 with basic functions like scrolling screens etc, and the phone of course has a MUCH more "premium" feel. Sense 5 is MUUUUUCH better than past versions of Sense and like a lot of review say, it *DOES* improve over stock android in actual useful features. The look is subjective of course but it's flat, useful and fast, and to me that's all that matters. The camera is better than any past smartphone I've ever used (Tmobile Dash>G1>Vibrant>Sensation>One) so I like it personally, but compared to its rivals like the GS4 I guess it's not the best, but does everything I've ever asked of it VERY well so no complaints from me.
The GS4 on the other hand has a superior camera. The camera on the One isn't bad at all, and kills the Gs4 in low light conditions and the aspect ratio and wide lense captures waaay more in each frame, but the GS4 has more camera features, packs a crapload more detail in each shot, has some pretty useful camera modes the One doesn't have, and is just generally better. The Galaxy might not be made of aluminum like the one, but it's lighter and imo actually feels better in my hand (without a case). Once you add a case in the mix, hand feel is null and void obviously but if you like to go commando the Gs4 feels better and will probably hold up to abuse better than the One due to the polycarbonate body and gorilla glass 3. The screen on the Galaxy is bigger than the One while the actual phone altogether is lighter and smaller so that's pretty nice, but it's not really THAT noticeable to be honest. One huge, huge advantage the Galaxy has over the One is removable storage and battery, which *USED* to be a deal breaker for me back in the day, but I've learned to live without them since I got my One, so either way it's a definite advantage but I guess how much so is up to the user. The Galaxy also has native quick settings built in which the one doesn't have (yet), so minor issue but another positive for the galaxy.
As far as negative for each, I'm actually on my second One already. Somehow my camera lense glass cracked even though I keep the phone in case and have never dropped it or bumped it. It just appeared one day in addition to the top speaker grill starting to separate from the body. Weird, but I got it replaced and the replacement is doing fine and actually stands up to overclocking and undervolting better than my old unit, so that made me pretty happy lol. That's really the only issue I've had with mine, but on the whole, the phone is definitely more fragile than the Galaxy WITHOUT a case. It scratches easier, dents, chips, etc...while the Galaxy doesn't.
The Galaxy feels better in hand (caseless) than the One, but it's slippery as hell and slides around easily and can be more prone to being dropped. Again, only an issue without a case, but this is my observation.
Touchwiz...personally I think it's a mess. I don't care for the look, as many have said it feels like your still running Gingerbread 2.3. The look hasn't changed much since I had a Vibrant running Touchwiz from 3 years ago, and while Touchwiz DOES have some unique features and generally does more than Sense and stock android...it's just ugly as hell while doing so lol. The Galaxy also does feel a tad slower and microstutters every so often while the One is almost always fluid and seems much smoother even tho it's running a newer version of android and has slightly better specs on hardware...it just doesn't "feel" like it. Other than that it's a fantastic phone and we haven't had any problems with it whatsoever unlike the One.
Between the two...if I just had to pick one, it's a toss up. I prefer my One honestly but I can see the advantages of the Galaxy S4 with it having more features so I'll just break it down like this...
Usefuleness as an actual phone
One>S4
Camera
GS4>One
In hand feel, portability
One=GS4
Usefulness as a multimedia device
GS4=One
Expandability
GS4>One
I will say that between the two if this even matters to anyone...I get WAAAAAY more props and questions and even jealous stares directed towards the One lol...
