HTC ONE X screen ripple - HTC One X

Hi all.
I returned my black HOX last week because of the screen ripple thing (when you run your finger down the sides of the screen) also the screen seemed to be a tad loose just like so many people have reported on here. So phones4U sent me a white one, I have received it and its worse than the black one now I don't even have to apply any pressure to get the screen ripple. What should I do? should I just put up with the fault or should I change to another phone s3 etc.
Cheers eze

Return it and tell them its a known issue (they should know)
ask for a tested device or enforce a newer batch
SH248 on awards are good
latest SH25 and HT25 seems good
loose screen is a known defect, slight screen ripple on outer edges pressure is normal unless its acting badly

This one is serial SH24, I have literally just had the screen flicker now to, so this phones is defo a faulty one. So the slight screen ripple is normal, I would say my old black one was normal because you had to apply a bit of pressure for the ripple to appear but this white one aint normal. Anyway I have just got of the phone with phones4u and I have managed to arrange to do an exchange in store.

SH23SW, no ripple.

normal is under bit if pressure

I've had two SH25's.
First one had no screen ripple at all but the screen was loose in left bottom corner. I could feel it moving, clicking etc. The backlight was also bleeding from that corner. I returned it and the second one has screen ripple everywhere with light pressure, has a dead pixel and the screen is loose on both sides.
I'm waiting for this one to be replaced. Beginning to wish I wasn't so fussy with the 1st one.

Every HOX will do it under pressure but it shouldn't do it if pressed lightly mines does it but I don't really care as I ain't going to rub sides with a dark screen??

you second hox was defected due to the extra ripple and the first hox was defected due to screen loose
you should expect a defectless hox where the screen is rock rigid and fit on all sides and only slight ripple under pressure to the outside edges

I know, going to hold out for a perfect one now.
On this one you can see a small red light in the top left behind the screen when you are on a call, is this normal? I didn't notice it on the last one.

I dont think he means that, I had that on my original one its the notification led bleeding through the side of the screen and the case, caused by the screen not being glued correctly.

HT25 here and ripples do occur in the middle of the screen with very light pressure. when i press "send" button on SMS app i get a ripple in the middle of the screen. WTF????
I am rooted at this point and not sure if I should screw around with it. What do you guys think?

[Q] HTC one X yellow spot (tint) display issue, any one find?

Just saw some photo taken in HTC shop of demo phone that indicate One X has some yellow spot (tint) display issue.
I would like those who have gotten the phone already to have a check and give us input does it happen to you or not.
The recent yellow spot issue is serious problem for latest Sony Xperia S phone.
Hope it can help to understand is it common or just rare.
Thanks!

Yes, some people give up Sony Xperia S(LT26i)because of the yellow spot issue. I really do not want it happen to One X. The issue for Sony is detected by user after 1 or 2 weeks usage, in some case is when phone get warm(like charging) or play heavy game after a while.
So if One X user can test it under charging status with full white screen may can more effective to confirm.
Rumors said One X screen provider is Sony. If it is true even the technique of it is different than LT26i screen but still may have some common issue behind.

It's the SLCD2 Panel itself...
So take a pic of the actual phone and white background.

The screenshot just shows what you are supposed to see.
The problem is in what you actually see on the screen itself.
To avoid any confusion, please take a physical photo of the screen in a dim room, not a screen shot.
There. Solved. Please do not fight.
I don't have any of these spots. The screen is just absolutely amazing!
The yellow tints are caused by the LCD screen foil. If you drop the phone, you will get yellow spots!

That explains, and maybe it can even be caused by pressing too hard on the screen maybe ?
Darn... Just got the One X from digitec (Switzerland) and it clearly shows two yellowish spots in the two bottom corners of the display. It's very visible and distracting on white background, not so much on dark background.
Isnt this the glue that holds the laminated screen onto the glass? I used to have this on my iphone4s ips display and the apple dude that served me said it would go off after using it for a slightly longer period of time and after a week or so the tint disappeared

Now that you mentioned it, i do believe this is the cause indeed.. i almost forgot about the iphone4s screen issues haha till you mentioned it , but that could be because i don't read much about Apple/iphones etc. and i don't have any affinity to Apple and it's products. [off-topic] To be honest i really hate Apple's mentality / their way of business
When the yellow spots are on the side, it's most of the time glue.
But if it's in the middle of the screen, most of the times it's the foil.
I would get a replacer if i were you!

It kind of looks as if they got weaker over the last two days of usage. Could be my wishful thinking, though. With white background, the spots (still) are noticeable and distracting. It's like with dead pixels: once you've discovered them, you can't ignore them anymore...

Flashlights on the bottom of the display

Hey guys,
I want to know, if you have such "flashlights" on the bottom of your screen, too.
Just on the bottom - on top of mine everything is allright.
I ask myself if this is a reason to swap the device due to garantee reasons.
Look at the picture and pls. vote.
edit: I have the flashlights permanent - even if the lights of the 3 capazitive buttons is off

That's light from the Capacitive button Backlights, you should only really see it once the screen just unlocks.
Not always, if it bothers you- Return it, that simple.

Well that's backlight bleed, just get it replaced.
I have it too
I spoke with an HTC Support Manager at their North American headquarters this morning and they are advising me that this is normal. They apparently designed the display to have these lights to make the viewing angles better and to make the display easier to see in direct light or sunlight.
It's a new technology, so I am told.....
I have the same issue, only noticed it recently. Not sure if it's enough to warrant getting it replaced. Do all people have this? Noticeable when there is colour (ore so on white) on the screen, not when on a black screen.
Dont have the "flashlights" on any color. not even on white.
Should get a replacement if it annoys you..
It's normal. You can see them all the way around the screen if you look hard enough. It's barely noticeable even at just the right angle. You can get it replaced but I wouldn't expect it to be much different. The people in this thread saying they don't have them probably just don't notice. It's a very subtle thing.
they vary between devices but they exist in one way or another
i don't find it hard to believe that these assist view angles

[Flex] Wondering if I should get my HOX replaced

Last night while using the phone I noticed this slight clicking sound from the bottom right corner of the screen (touch-sensitive panel). So I kept pressing it and I wasn't hallucinating, its there. Also figured the sound also comes when I press the bottom right or bottom center edge of the phone. The creaking sound isn't loud but its noticeable when I hold the phone in specific angles and while typing if haptic feedback is on, I think the vibration also makes it happen(weird)
So except for this my HOX is fine and am wondering if I should get it changed.
Are there any long term effects to this? I'm starting to just ignore the sound and trying not to make it happen purposely
Depends, does it make the sound when you're using it normally? If it does I would consider swapping it, although you said everything else was fine.
If on the other hand, it makes the sound if you hold it in a certain way and push unusually hard then I would say stop intentionally pushing it in a weird way and use it properly.
People have been complaining about "screen flex" along the side of the phone when they push on the edge and run their fingers along the side. Want to get rid of the screen flex when you push the edge of your phone and move your finger along it? STOP PUSHING THE EDGE OF YOUR PHONE!!!
Just remember that some phones have had screen flickering, yellow marks and even scratches under the screen, you may not be as lucky as your were the first time if you choose to swap it.
what you described is not flex even, most mobile devices have a creak some where
Flex should mean the screen is literally loose to warrant an exchange

The only time I've noticed this sound while using the phone is during haptic feedback from typing on the keyboard. I switched haptic feedback off to save battery and for this 'problem'

I did reduce pushing it intentionally since last night after figuring it might mess it up more.

my first flexed bad (soft one pressure, loose) on the left side, although i loved it so much because it had the much more dense yellowish sharp screen
second hox had a bad coating and slight flex on the left side, also hot pixels
third HOX my current is perfect, the screen is rigid on all sides expecially left and right, but it creaks if its around 50degree hot on two out of the four corners, very very slight creaks and only happens if it test it intentionally, it has the acer white screen with visible pixel grid, so the first hox screen i miss so much
im saying don't replace for a little reason bro it will be a bumpy ride, if the screen is loose then ok, you can see it by testing for light bleed in a dark room or if its physically moving
I think my screen is perfect. I can't figure how you're suggesting I test it, but pressing along the edges with slight pressure doesn't cause any change in the screen. The pixels are all good and no flickering. I think its a yellowish screen and not the bluish one.
How do you find out what LCD brand is on your HOX?

Hmm I don't think I'll get it changed, I love it too much . Just have to get used to the occasional/random creak/click sounds from the device.

Problem with the display

So i got my phone few days ago but yesterday i noticed something strange with the phone so wanted to know if i have a faulty device or what so the problem is when i press the left side (the whole left side but most on the top left corner) of the display the edge when i press it a little harder not hard but a little harder than a regular touch i get that rainbow effect that you would get by presing directly the display of a plazma/lcd/led tv something like a rainbow or mixed colors when you press it

Read THIS and THIS ...
"Things not considered defects:
- LCD ripple on outer intentional pressure, this seems to go away with time if the lamination is perfect"
It should be better with time ... try to overheat it and cool down for 3-4 times and it should be better ... thats because the touch and the SLCD2 are glued together.

I agree, it's not a major issue, I was thinking to take of the screen completley and reglue it using some duble sided tape... But there is a risk of breaking the screen in the proces... It's not worth it
What about putting duck tape across top and bottom of the screen? Don't forget to make holes for loudspeaker, front camera and proximity sensor. And for microphone and fingerprint at bottom
So, you're all saying that tbe whole screen is moving a bit in the case? Check teardown and you'll see that is actually glued. Not my favorite solution but I suppose is cost effective.

Bought a screen off eBay, yes you need to heat up the glue underneath the screen with a heat gun.
Got the new screen in after I had to remove all the small piece of glass that was still glued but it's not an easy repair and I still have screen issues I assume the screen isn't the same quality as the original one which comes with a silver backing plate.
In bright sunlight my screen turns blue
The battery maybe will never die, because a bigger LiPo much longer live as a small one and we just load again all 2 or 3 days. So that's ok that's build in. Maybe the screen is much earlier broken. Hope it doesn't broke
My battery has 3600mAh(3597)
