Mugen 4000 vs Innocell 3500 video Review - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

hey guys,
So I got both of this big boys and decided to do a side by side comparison. I can tell you both are very good batteries ..both do their job and for the price gap between them the difference is not substantial .
If you are still undecided which battery to pick, this review might help u
Enjoy!

Great review TY.
Bought my innocell 3800 about 4 weeks ago and love it.
Price is a bit steep, but nfc compatible and super long lasting.
Average use I get 36-40 hours (nonstop LTE). And heavy use about 25-30 hours (nonstop LTE)
Again thanks for the review

Glad it helped you!. your times are similar as mine. I think its a good investment ..but I cant use extended batteries all the time. I like to retain the thin profile..Man i even hate cases but Im too stupid to not have one because I drop phones like crazy lol

I'v tried Seidio innocell and its pretty good
here is what i got from it

would love to try out the Mugen battery

Thank you so much for the video review! I always hated extended batteries because of how it made the phone look, but I think the mugen battery cover doesn't look bad at all. I think it's because how it looks at the end/bottom of the phone (doesn't protrude out as much).

I felt the same way at the beginning, had to go back to my original nexus with that amazing curve every so often.
But after a while the extended battery just grew on me. Especially with just the skin tight case.
I did notice tho that now I seem to be getting a bit less battery life especially after a bit heavier usage.
Ill try battery status wipe in cwm and do another 2 rounds of full charge to discharge.
How do you go about your charging patterns?
Do you -
1 - full charge to discharge every time?
2 - full charge to to half and back to full?
3 - full charge to x% back to full?
And has your battery life been dropping slowly? I.e. getting less hours per charge.
As it stands now it seems to have lost roughly 3-4 hours after the same usage as when I first got the battery.

I try to go from full charge to like 10 or 5 percent however work and school dont let me do that everyday. so little charges here and there happen all the time . But at night if im low i let it charge
nope I didnt get that issue at all..But what i found with every single extended is that the first full charge is INSANE ..its so good that creates an standard..I dont know why lol but after that its been steady.

What rom are you on? And do you have any battery mods?
I'm on arhd 4.0.1 with the circles mod.
You think that could have anything to do with it?
I'll post back in a couple days after the battery wipe and full charge. Maybe my battery mod is throwing it off.
Thanks again for the info

nice! I hate how some little things can screw things up

Wow, this review didn't help at all. When buying a battery the most important factor is how long it lasts. The mAH values reported by the manufacturers are meaningless so battery reviews are there to test how long they really last. This video review was nothing else than just a comparison between the back covers provided with the batteries.
Next time charge both of the batteries and then do a heavy usage test with them. A regular heavy usage test would cosist of running an internet stream video on constant brightness. That way pretty much everything is being used: screen, radio and processor. Then have both phones running the same video in a loop until they run out of battery and see how long they last.

So how about you buy both those batteries and buy 2 galaxy nexuses and do a review yourself? Then provide us your input on what you have found.
I do agree that the person left out an important part but he did do a battery review. Any information is appreciated and physical features can make or break a persons decision on a product even if it isn't important to you. I for one will thank the reviewer on his input between those batteries and leave negative comments out the window.

What about this..why dont u pay attention to the part that I say " if you want to see the power of each one..please check its independent videos..as I cant do the comparison in one video for that because It will last 15 minutes

I think the charging pattern is not really relevant when it comes to li-ion batteries...what is important is to make the phone understand that there is new capacity used. These hi-end batteries last for 400-500 recharges so I think that if you get less battery life, you should just re-calibrate it.
Mugen btw has a user-guide with calibration process described there http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/user-guide It's a no-brainer for a generic user, but it does it's job. Just I don't think it's good for your battery if you do it often...

Atrix Mugen 4800Mah Review (56k/dail up death)

Please let me say, I failed english. Probably all that time I skipped english probably would have served me well....Had I attended, so be gentle on this guy. If this made you laugh, lol, "wow", that's neat, but if this helped you in anyway toss a thank post my way.
Hi it's been approximately 2 weeks since I received this battery. I can mostly say great things about this battery. Lets take a look at this monster, before I can say battery stats this, battery stats that.
I often Google how the extended batteries are "huge". I've SEEN extended batteries, none like Mugen though. Most of them are bigger, this thing really uses the word "Extended". First thoughts make me feel like this makes the phone x2 the original thickness. it feels hefty in the hand, and this makes for a constant reminder that the phone is in your pocket. I cant forget that this brick is in my pocket, but it makes it all that much more dramatic when it hits the concrete.....
I can say now having this battery installed on my phone is more than just extra juice, it makes for extra grip with this large backing. I'm sure a lot of people probably don't have extended batteries, so I'll just side-by-side a series of pictures so you can see.... how big it is.

Now that you see what it looks like, I'll give you my apparent opinion, its big... and there's more to that than just being big! (Or at least with "our" phones.)
This phone has one of the only biometric scanners that I know of, but it becomes somewhat a hassle with Motorola's choice battery location. Its not something I fret about, considering I don't use the finger scanner. I have tried it with this battery, it makes it awkward to use but not impossible.
Docks, another thing this phone was craftily shelved as. The phone with the @ss loads of docks, more than others, non with this battery will it fit... All of these normal Motorola docks are 'ment for the phone with the stock battery. When you want to dock the phone often, you pretty-much need to keep the stock battery and its back plate.
Cases as we know it are plenty and many far from few with this phone. I've seen more than a dozen cases with this phone. But I have yet to see a battery this "great", there is the problem. None of cases will fit with the Mugen battery! But this isn't a problem with me, I often battery pull from rom flashing anyways.
Lets get to the battery stats, and how it plays with a couple ROMS!... But 1 problem remains, I cannot get the android OS to condition the stats into it. So it majorically says 1% of the poor battery's life. With the extended battery, dont trust all of the OS stats, they dont depict full time ORRR accurate time.
CM7-Beta, Faux 1.3Ghz.
With my current setup on the OEM battery.
On Battery 9Hr:45Min
Voice calls 56% 3Hr:57Min
Phone Idle 18% 8Hr:57Min
Display: 16% 55Min
Mobi.mgeek.tunnybrowser 4% CPU/Total 42Min/9Min
Cell Standby 9Hr:42Min
CM7-Beta, Faux 1.3Ghz. (Mugen 4800Mah)
This setup like before but only the mugen battery changed here. The battery life off this battery makes it so I can shoot higher than 50+ hours, with my current use time. Calibration of the battery is not as easy as "Battery Calibration" when I used, it only shows 1% for most the time.... I could have sworn after this, I get better battery yet as I have tried this method.
Charge, turn off, pull battery, charge, pull battery, charge, untill the battery is surely full. Now from 4.206v down to 3.615v as we talk im currently trying to charge while on from 3.600~ maybe getting correct battery stats.
On Battery 59Hour~ (aprx, hard without OS giving correct stats.)
Voice Calls 44% 6Hr:43Min
Phone Idle 22% 22Hr:8Min
Display 20% 2Hr:33Min
Cell Standby 5% 1Day:1Hr:41Min
There was a screen shot for 57hours unplugged, but it continued till 59hours and shut off. It still does the 1% stats. from full battery, wipe stats, till here.
Later I want to try Froyo based roms, and see if I can break these records. (on froyo I got 6+hours of talk time, with bluetooth.) that's pretty good IMO. Mainly, just so I can see for myself.
Now for my conclusion....?
The phone is great on battery, if you let it. The battery gives more than double life! I like it, and all of it's size battery, and capacity! It just might be easier to give pros/cons.
Pros:
Lots of battery life, more than double
No annoying battery swapping
Size/Weight to those who like it
Cons:
Size/Weight to those who hate it.
Finger scanner hard to access
cases no longer fit it
I love this battery, and it's completely replaced all my oem batteries. No longer shall I battery swap. Besides how can you work a weekend or more and not use a charger.... Whilst usage like mine or better? You cant, only with Mugen's battery! You need one, more than need, you want one! I'll update with calibrated stats, vs max charge and drain to 1%-0%?
Battery
Reserved for OP
Ill compare stats vs OEM and this battery (Calibrated) But I'll try this with running netflix as a constant. Be patient, wont be long from now.

No but I'd suggest
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BH5X-Batter...376966?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3a65952786
And for those who wanna know, ebay batteries are (from china) are garbage. I've owned alot of them, they lose capacity quickly and become buggy.
And if you dont believe me, try this...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Atrix-4G...408011?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3368ab978b
I bet for less than 5 months of swapping batteries, and when their back plates break... Less capacity, and then become nothing more than mere paper weights, (should they not explode) cruddy batteries. Remember, cheap batteries off eBay are usually not rated for their "quoted" Mah! My 2800Mah battery from eBay lasted almost twice as long for about 1-2 weeks. Then no longer, about equal to original after a month. (And I purchased 4 of them) and 2 of them I had to return 2 of them because they DID NOT CHARGE. Now if you were planning eBay batteries, and wanted to make sure you had a weekend away from the charger, don't rely on eBay batteries from Chinese outfits making 90% profit off their less than 1$ production/labor costs.

Yer, that's about the life of my stock battery too, though for hiking trips etc imagine the uptime I'd get with an extended one (-:
This 4800mah seems to be the perfect battery for all the problems I was facing with the original motorola battery. But after seeing an youtube video and some images about it...whoooowww!!! This battery is really large. The Atrix becomes a really large and heavy phone.
Because of that, this is really not a good battery for daily use. I think it could be a good solution if you are going camping without electricity nearby for a whole weekend and then you need an extra battery. Otherwise i think it is really not a good solution.
My choice was this pack: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220799408011?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I'll keep using my original motorola battery and if needed I still have 2 x 3500 mah batteries (they also need special cover) plus a battery charger. They are smaller than 4800mha but even though larger than the original one. The price was really good and I'm totally satisfied with it.

Well when you see those battery stats, whats your talk time? It looked like you idled forever, and what rom/kernel/etc are you running. That would makes a big difference, Froyo(stock) vs alien faux 1.3 can differ battery greatly.

Talk time was several hours. Lots and lots of texting going on. About 45 mins of netflix. about three hours of the drag racing game. 10 mins or so of browsing. It looks like it was idle forever because thats over the course of 3 days.
hahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha thats huge
Will it fit in the car dock with this battery? just kidding - I think I know the answer to that!
Reference to the 3500mAh batteries, I bought one just like that from Deals Extreme, after a few charge cycles it gave me a consistent uptime of a bit less than the stock battery, for the price they are good spare batteries, but having to put a large back cover on for less performance than a stock battery really sucks for everyday life, I'd spend the extra to get another stock battery if you need one for everyday.
As for battery life, I'm running stock ROM, just rooted, search around this forum, lots of threads about getting 2-3x the uptime from a stock battery.

Near full of GSM coverage and just few hours of screen on ("Screen on" is near always OFF) is not what you have wrote us.
- A lot of texting with Screen off? You are God!
- 45min of watching video on netflix with Screen off? You are more than God!
- three hours of race game with Screen off?.......
Summary: (theorical) 3 hours of talk (much of GSM), 45 min videos (sound+screen), 3 hours of game (sound+screen), 1 hour (total) of texting over 3 days (GSM+display): 5 hours of "Screen ON" over 72 hours are more then you 3-4% if you try to sum the "ticks" of "Screen on".
Theorically every 10-12 hours the battery is automatically drained of about 10% even if the phone is in Airplane mode and with 200Mhz of clock (with SetCPU), so in 72 hours the battery should be less then 50% (I suppose 30%) even in Airplane mode.
You screenshot is fake.

3,800 mAh Extended Battery Review! *Video* *Pictures* *Screenshots* vs stock!

If you have bought this battery, and have experiences, good or bad, and want to share them, let me know!
No longer providing daily updates, but will post how the official extended battery compares in a few days!
If you guys would like me to either carry on testing this battery out, carry out tests on batteries I have (stock, extended, 1950 ebay), or purchase others and test them I'm more than happy to (providing cost isn't too high!) Just let me know!
Scroll down for a 100% to flat Vs stock!
Check out tuner520's findings here, here, here and here!
Hey guys,
So I took the plunge and bought one of these 3,800 mAh extended battery and covers from ebay, they finally turned up today and I am very impressed! I'm not going to try and say the back isnt ugly, but it is far easier to look at than I expected! I was expecting a massive ugly lump, and while it is fairly ugly, it isn't that big for the bump in battery life you'll be getting! The cover follows the curvature of the phone to start with, then flattens out over the top, unfortunately, it seems the designer got bored when it came to the end, and just made a square edge!
I have yet to put the battery through it's paces but will push it hard over the next few days and get back to you with the results!

Day 1
So Its 8:30 pm here in the UK, been unplugged since 8 am, fairly heavy usage, still got 22% left. Will update with screenshots later tonight!
Day one (first full cycle) Screenshots!!! (the gap is where I made a clockwork backup) At least an hour of GTA played, and 3g was constantly on.
Day 2
Very light usage today due to having exams, so been revising all day (sitting an exam part way through). I am going to pop the battery out and do some reviews of some new cases and the official extended battery I just received, then pop the 3,800 back in and carry on into day 3!
Day 3
So I took out the battery to do some reviews last night, then put it back in, and carried on! Light usage to start with, then medium usage towards the end of the day! (streaming music, web browsing) This battery just will not go flat with this usage!!! Very impressed, it's still only on it's second cycle!
Time for some quick maths if we take day 2 and day 3, add the total time together ( 12h 27m 23s +1d 1h 44m 55s = 137,538 seconds = 38.205 hours (I think!)) and take it as 50% battery used, we can calculate that the battery should last 76.41 hours, or 3.18375 days, which is pretty impressive!
Hope you guys are finding this useful, I'll update again tomorrow!
Day 4
Okay, so I used it a bit more today, and as a result it's now flat! I'm going to charge it up overnight, and tomorrow I will do a 100% to flat test streaming youtube videos, and compare against the stock battery to see how this beast does!
Day 5 - 100% to flat vs stock!
Currently running what I shall call the nyan cat test. Screen brightness on full, bluetooth on, NFC on, portable hotspot on, running on 3g, left in the same spot, playing the 10 hour nyan cat video from youtube.
Done the 3,800 mAh battery, impressive results! Just testing the stock battery then I will post up screenshots of how long they lasted! If there is enough demand for it I can also carry out this test with the official extended battery, as well as the 1,900 mAh batteries I have from eBay.
Results
Okay, so first up is the stock 1750 mAh original battery!
And now the 3,800 mAh extended battery!
So, the results speak for themselves. 3 hours extra screen on time, and the battery is still only on its third cycle!
Update: I tried to make it look better by covering it in white carbon fibre effect vinyl, but due to the excessive curves around the camera (and my somewhat lacking skills), it did not end well!
so review it and tell us if it really doubles batterylife hope so otherwise it is really damn ugly
but for that price not going to argue xD

I'd say the battery and case weigh around twice the originals, so it's a noticeable amount of weight extra, but not too much!

Nope, NFC does not work with this battery.
Wow....would you like a side of phone with your battery!
But then again, I had a Nokia 9000i Communicator...so that is still an ultra slim phone!
So are you actually seeing double battery life with this? I recall reading a while back about some 3rd party battery tests and they were only performing at about 50-60% of their rated capacity, while OEM's performed at 95-98%. The back case is hideous... I really hope someone comes out with something in between the lackluster 2100 mah ext battery and the 1850 OEM battery.
*Edit*
Saw this was for the GSM version... Whoops!
can't wait to see some battery life screen shots with this!
Updated the OP with day one screenshots!
Has anyone found a deal for a battery of this size compatible with the LTE model?
(Preferably not the Seidio version, as it retails for near $70.)
13 hours from full to empty with 4 hours and 20 minutes screen on time with a big 3800mah battery, i get 20 hours from full to empty with 4,5 hours screen on time with my stock 1750mah battery.
I know its the first cycle but i really hope it improves alot
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I've had all types of extended batteries for my Evo 4g and my Evo 3D ranging from the cheapo Chinabay to the $75 Seidio 4000mah batteries. Seidio has the closest mah rate as advertised and I once was able to get 120hours of average use out of the Seidio 4000mah battery. The Fleabay extended batteries are only "slightly" better than OEM and it adds the pregnant look to your phone.
Now that I am on the Galaxy Nexus and have loved to use Google Wallet, I am not so keen to jump to use extended batteries that do not support NFC. If Seidio is able to make an extended battery that has the NFC antenna, I will buy it in a heart beat.
Gah.. I'm at four hours screen-on time with my stock battery
Yeah looking at your screen shot, I'd estimate it's about a 2200-2500 mah at best.
A stock battery can almost hit 4 hours, and that ones got maybe 4.5 hour.
That's like what, a 60% effective mah over the rated?

I should have mentioned this, I clocked around an hour of GTA use through the day, plenty of web browsing and some video, I would struggle to get through half the time this battery lasted with my stock, and that was it's first cycle!
+1 for 3800mah batt for GSM and recommend it to heavy/busy users.
Battery Monitor says batt life is
13h55m with my heavy usage
13days4hrs Standby
I measured the weight of the batteries and 3800mah is 68.65grams versus stock at 37.75g
BTW, my phone (SC-04D Docomo G.Nexus) is same as the US GSM type. The GPU is overclocked to 384mhz, processor overclocked to 1.42Ghz and its tweaked from kernel to baseband.
Also, I noticed is that this battery has a working internal temp sensor unlike my X10's mugen 3600mah. I don't use NFC but can put the stock batt back in for that moment... it only takes seconds for the Nexus to boot up anyways.
If you need/want extra batt power, I highly recommend this battery. I've used these fat type batteries for 2 phones now and love them both.

terrible seidio 3800 performance?

I followed all the instructions from from seidio, let the battery fully discharge, then leave it on the charger for an extra couple hours after its full and do this for the first 5 or so charges. After this i repeated the test EVIL JIMMY did with the screen brightness all the way up bluetooth on 4g on and mobile hotspot on and watched the 10 hour nyan cat video. My battery lasted for 3.5 hours? With my stock 1850 battery i was over 2.5 hours. does anyone else have this battery yet and what kind of battery life are you getting? One of the biggest reasons im upset is that the cheap chinese knock offs for the gsm phones was getting 6+
I saw your review of this on Amazon. For 70 bucks you would think the performance would match the price.
How long have you had this overall? For the first week or so my Mugen Power (xperia play) had awful performance. It wasn't until after all that conditioning that it really shined.
Maybe you just got a bad unit?
try to calibrate the battery, download battery left from the market, it will take days or about a week to fully calibrate a battery.
sorry to hear that man,
i got the cheap chinese one like jimmy and got around 7hrs of rundown test

Agreed. It's more than likely the same as the $10 battery on Ebay just with a beautiful coat.

I am putting it through it's 4th charge cycle. I live around NYC and have LTE. I have gotten MUCH better performance on this battery and am a heavy user of Netflix, Youtube, my screen is about 75% of the way bright, and I use Google Music (streaming) a lot. I feel bad for the few bad reviews I have read. I am happy to say, the least amount of time I have gotten on my daily VERY heavy usage has been 23 hours, a great improvement for me personally from the Samsung Extended battery. I wonder if there are some duds out there, as I read a review on Amazon of someone who is only getting 4 hours of screen time (and only 3 hours on the stock battery). Even if the brightness was maxed out, on LTE, and overclocked, I am not sure how you could possibly only get 4 hours with this. I feel so bad for him, I wonder if the phone is defective, or perhaps, the battery connector has an issue? I am not an expert, I just don't see how I can pull over 24 hours with my heavy usage (except for my one 23 hour day), and I have not even finished conditioning the battery fully yet. Anyway, even though it adds some bulk, the extended door was NO WHERE NEAR as BIG as it looked in the pictures. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Seidio Surface Extended Case, so at least everything is the same color now. I hope others out there give their review, as I can't believe I'm the only one who is getting a lot of hours out of this battery. It's MASSIVE lol

I bought both the battery and the case for the battery off of Ebay. The case fits extremely well and although it doesn't really have much shock protection it at the very least will stop scratches.
Still in the process of conditioning the battery but the simple fact that Seidio had the foresight to actually produce a case for it was enough for me to use it.
I am pretty sure OP just got a dud.
After a couple of days use I can safely say that my Sedio 3800 works amazingly well.
I also have the case that covers the phone AND the enormous battery and it fits wonderfully.
Both highly recommended if you have to be on the go for some time.
Seidio 3800 with NFC impression
I decided to pick up the Seidio 3800 with NFC after trying to save money on the Qcell 3850 and found it to be total crap. This is the first cycle and its looking pretty good. I followed the instruction and charged it for 8 hours before i used it. Most of the battery drain was me trying to kill it by streaming videos on Netflix.
Kernel - Lean Kernel 3.2.1
Rom - AOKP b31
Percentage - 2
Battery time - 18h 15m 50s
Screen on time - 6h 45m 59s
I was connected to Wifi all day.
It really depends on the usage. I bought the samsung extended and I still had problems with it NOT lasting all day. My old phone's battery (Blackberry, garbage I know) lasted all day so I just had to charge it every night. That's kind of what I was looking for in a battery. I don't really care about size, so I tried the Seidio 3800 and I finally got an all-day charge.

2100mAh Extended Battery: 2-Day Impressions [LTE]

So I finally decided to pick one of these up before the sale ends (yes, they are still half off at Verizon corporate stores). The stock battery provided "acceptable" battery life, but I was really apprehensive about losing the little hump on the back of the phone (and $25) for only ~13% additional battery.
So, in short: it's a good buy. Obviously it won't DOUBLE YOUR BATTERY LIFE or anything, but it kicks the phone up from right at the "acceptable battery life" line to the "good battery life" area.
When I first got the battery, I allowed it to charge fully before using it, and the first night of use was comparable to the stock battery, maybe a bit better. After letting it charge overnight, I got much better battery life the second day. I decided to cycle it a second time.
The first ~12% of the battery life on this cycle was used flashing a kernel and then recovering when that kernel created a multitude of issues. In short, I spent a good 20 minutes wiping dalvik, resetting app Cache/Data, fixing permissions, re-installing Nova, etc. It was a mess, and for this reason my battery stats neglect to show a good 15% of the beginning of the cycle, for which I apologize, but if anything this just makes my recorded runtime that much more impressive to me.
I historically get about 2.5 to 3.0 hours TOPS on my stock battery.

Disclaimer: I was on wifi 99% of the time, but was resetting my router when I took the screenshot, hence the 3G indicator.
On the second cycle with my extended battery, I got a pretty good chunk longer:
And again, that's with the first ~20 minutes of flashing/installing/chaos not recorded.
For what it's worth, I also got rock solid standby on the extended battery. When I went to bed, I consciously noted the battery at 42%. When I woke up 5 hours later (it sucked ok), the battery had only dropped to 41%. Seriously.
This is totally anecdotal and non-scientific of course, but based on my results (so far) and having heard similar reports from other members here, I would not be surprised to learn that either the stock battery is of poor quality/chemistry, or the extended battery is of higher quality. A 13% increase in capacity, by all means, should not provide such a drastic improvement in performance, but I'm seeing a 19% increase in screen-on time alone.
So, I don't claim to have evidence that there's more than a numeric capacity increase to the extended battery, but the real-world results are certainly pleasing, so I don't really care!
PS: I do miss the hump, but the extended battery/cover gives the phone a nice feel for its own merits
Ya it's not a huge increase but I could tell the difference; definitely worth $25.
I left the house with full charge yesterday, the first day with my extended battery. I noticed I was down to 90% rather quick, checked for wakelocks and had none. As the day went on my battery life seemed to drain as it had with the stock battery. The extended battery didnt really "kick in" until I got down to say 10%. At this point it took longer than usual to drop down in percentage. I checked my battery stats @ 4% and again found no wakelocks, my screen on time was a bit under 2 hours (like stock battery), I really didnt notice the extended battery at all. I figured this would give me that bump to take my Nexus through the whole work period without having to do a quick charge in-between jobs (DirecTV Installer). I hope I get better life out of it today, like OP did on his second day!

These batteries take a couple charge cycles to get to full capacity. Give it a couple days and you will start to notice a difference. 1850mah to 2100mah is not that big of a jump though. It's not gonna get you a huge increase other than maybe about 10%-12% longer. I bought a desktop cradle that will charge the phone(it fits with the extended battery with the standard backplate) & has a slot to charge a spare battery. It's pretty handy because I can charge the phone and the stock battery at the same time and can easily change batteries if needed. I got the cradle on Ebay for $20. It shipped from Hong Kong, but surprisingly only took about a week. I bought it on the 2/17 and it arrived on 2/25(seller shipped it on the 20th so not too bad). Shipping was free. Here's a link: http://tinyw.in/RpFR
Here's another 1 from same seller. Different title, but the cradle looks exactly the same: http://tinyw.in/E6PN
Btw cordell12, I don't know if you remember me from the Evo 3D forums, but glad to see you over here. How long have you had the Gnex?
After a couple of charges I've noticed that the device does have a nice increase in battery life. Nothing to write home about, but that extra 10-15% is nice to have especially since I got it at the Verizon corporate store for the $25 sale. If nothing else though, the added weight (very minimal) and feel of the backplate complete this phone for me. Feels so much better in my hand.
So you're getting almost 4 hours of screen on time? I think I can eek out 2 hours and make a full day with my extended battery. I'm thinking I got a junk one if I can't get at least 3 hours of screen on time.
Think if I get another battery, it'll work better than this one? Previously, I only used the stock battery, and that thing lasted me a good amount of time... and oddly enough, it felt like it lasted longer than this extended battery. I've been using it for over a month now, and I don't have many things syncing to my phone so it shouldn't be draining it as much.
I think I'm going to buy another battery, and if it doesn't work, then whatever I'll just have another extended battery.. Right?
I wish I could give you a good idea on what my battery life is like, but I feel like I get about 13 hours with 2:15 screen on time and that's with maybe.. 30 minutes of a light game and the rest of the time is texting/reading/surfing the web. I use Wi-Fi at least 70% of the time as well.
Right now, I'm at 10 hours and 40 minutes with screen on time at 25 minutes. The battery percent is 66. I feel as though that's pretty good, but to be honest with you, if I start using the phone or getting texts or anything, it'll drop extremely quick.
I am not sure why this phone didn't worth this 2100 ma battery in the first place.
The increase in weight or thickness are so small that it's crazy that out was shipped without the bigger battery.....definitely worth the 25$

Not quite. The battery (chemically) works best on the first charge and gets incrementally worse with each charge, exacerbated by exposure to high temperature. The phone, however, needs several large charge cycles before it calibrates to the battery. This is why the other poster didn't seem to notice a difference until he got to 10%. That's poor calibration. Eventually, the curve will straighten out and he'll see more accuracy. The battery will still cut out at the same voltage it did on Day 1, but he'll have a better idea of when the cutoff will come.

This is true for li-ion batteries AFTER the battery has stabilized. The battery needs to be reach a chemical balance in order to provide full charge/discharge efficiency. This optimum chemical balance is reached after first 3 to 5 charging cycles (even more for the cheap ones), depending on the exact chemical components used to fabricate it.

Hyperion Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus 3800mAh Extended Battery

Has anyone purchased the Hyperion Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus 3800mAh Extended Battery from Amazon? How has battery life been with it?
$25 for such a large battery sounds quite suspicious... but the amazon reviews arent that bad!
http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-Exte...1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333678914&sr=8-1-fkmr0
I got one and was getting very similar battery life as the 2100mah.
I used it for 2 weeks, so 14+ cycles.
I just got the Seidio one today. I hope it performs better.

I got great battery life from the battery. On the first day with a full a charge, it lasted approximately 30 hours with some pretty moderate usage. Not bad for the first full charge.

It is quite heavy and bulky though, nowhere near as svelte as the stock. It doesn't look that bad really, the back cover is textured like the stock cover.
Says it has NFC capabilities, but I don't use them, so I am not sure.
The one thing I found curious about it is the seeming uptick on the battery percentage at some times. Percentage would go up a percent or two every now and then when not charging or being used. I did not wipe battery stats prior to using this, so that may explain it. I will continue using the battery (back to the svelte stock today), but it has outperformed my hopes so far.
eh...a little out of budget
whats the sceen on time?
I'm able to get 5:30 hours of screen on time with the official 2000mah extended battery on my gsm gn.
I'm looking to get an extended battery, but it needs to do at least 7 hours of screen on time for it to be worth it.

Don't have a number yet. Doing another test today. Will update. Of course, the battery varies whether I am in LTE range or not. Also varies with brightness of the screen, etc. Therefore, I don't think screen on time by itself is very helpful in the determination.

The newly released Seido spring clip holster is designed for either a "naked" CDMA Galaxy Nexus -- or one sporting one of the monster extended batteries.

Clearing battery stats does NOTHING. N.O.T.H.I.N.G. The "uptick" is what happens when you slam the battery really hard (video streaming, gaming, whatever) and cause it to drop. The voltage will recover a bit from that once you stop, which cause the phone to recalculate the remaining power. All lithium batteries do this, you just notice it more on large cells because you can drain two watts from it without it dying first.

I will put some pictures up tonight or tomorrow. I don't use a case, so I don't know about what would fit. It is quite different size-wize, so something like the Seido case referenced above or a "bumper" case is probably your best bet.

29 hours on a charge this time. Probably 2-3 hours of LTE during that period - that definitely makes a dent. Pretty consistent use with a few heavy segments of use.
And for your question regarding on screen time:
But, like I said, I don't think you can judge too much off of that. All depends on screen brightness, LTE, etc.

I wasn't upset, nor do I blame you for thinking the way you did. That rumor swirled around here for the better part of 2 years. It just needs to be made abundantly clear to everyone that the battStats myth is a placebo. It doesn't do anything. In fact, the stats get cleared every time you unplug your phone after you charge it.
Pictures
As promised, here are some pictures:
The first two are with the stock battery installed:
Next three are just the covers, side by side. Stock obviously on the left in the first two.
Last three are the extended battery installed.
Let me know if you would like some other shots taken.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the battery. i easily get 1 day without having to charge. I actually like the heft that is added with the battery as well, makes the phone more substantial and seem less fragile.
I bought this battery as soon as I saw the thread. I received and installed it yesterday. I charged it for the full twelve hours that the manufacturer recommended and I'm on my first cycle now... so I can't comment on battery life. But as for the battery cover... it doesn't fit as well as I had planned. But it stays on, and is comfortable to hold. I actually like the larger back and the added weight that the battery brings.
I will report back with battery results after a few charge cycles.

Battery cover fits fine on mine, see my pics above, no problems. The bottom corners of the cover are starting to rub and the paint is coming off though. It makes the corners kind of black.

I got one and was getting very similar battery life as the 2100mah.
I used it for 2 weeks, so 14+ cycles.
I just got the Seidio one today. I hope it performs better.

I am looking to get the one from Verizon 2100mAh.
Does this 2100 one increase the thinkness of the phones?
also how is it compared to the original 1850mAh?
Thanks.

Be a Clear Battery Stat athiest if you want but don't push your liberal beliefs upon others.
Wipe 3x before flashing
and Clearing Battery Stats is sacrosanct.
We hold the faith.

Can you provide a review now that you have used it for a few weeks?
