Protect camera lense and speaker? - Galaxy S III Accessories

Is there any cases that can cover the camera lense to protect it, and maybe stop the speaker from getting dirt in it?

I think the best way to do that would be to buy a hard case that clips onto the back of the phone. It should prevent the camera getting hit uf you drop the phone.

This one covers the back of the phone completely.

case with cover for camera lens.

For some unknown reason, phone manufacturers refuse to put lens covers on their camera lens. It's become a standard practice to wipe your screen lens before taking a picture.
Why in the world hasn't anyone come up with a case that does this yet. If so, please point me to it. How hard is that?!
Now that we are getting up to 5mp camera's with good picture results, I think it's time to make a case that has a small plastic cover (like the one's we have with the vibrant for the USB) over the Camera lens.
If anyone knows of a case that does this for any of Sammy's, let me know.
Also, do Sammy 9000 cases or backplates fit the tmobile?
Yep, its like DUH! The Vibrant is the first phone ive seen with a sliding door for the USB connection, all phones should have that! It makes you think if the people designing the phones even use them. If the camera lens gets scratched, the camera is useless...come on phone manufacturers....
uh, are you ****in kidding me dude?
if there was a cover for the lens you'd be wiping the cover to make sure there were no fingerprints on it...

Dude, better to wipe a cover than leave a lens exposed!
No I wouldn't. Better to leave a dirty cover that exposes a clean cover lens than to waste time cleaning a lens everytime.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the lens recessed? (Not a Vibrant owner yet)

I think he was refering to a sliding door that would cover the lens for protection and you move it when you shoot a pic.
My wife had a Motorola Zine a few years ago that had a sliding camera door. It really was a great idea.

The Realook screen protector I ordered from eBay came with mini-protectors for the camera.

I ordered that same screen protector partially for the camera lens cover.
I have had a scratched lens and it and it rendered the camera virtually useless. I would rather have a cover over it that I had to clean off than to have a scratch that I couldn't remove.

[Q] Case that covers camera lens?

I mean i awkwardly hurt my phone in the most vulnerable place. I thought my case-mate tough would be enough but ive damaged my phone to the point where the lens are cracked and the kickstand won't close. I take care of my phone but some things happen when i least expect it. Like when walking through tight places my jeans would hit the corner of a table and crack goes the lens. Pictures and Video are perfect but I'm going to order a back housing to fix the lens and kickstand. I was wondering is there a case that fully covers the lens? Does the Ballistic HC Series cover the lens directly over? I'm kind of eyeing myself to that case but if there is something better, I'll order it. Thanks.
The case mate barely there covers the lens

God damnit, no one knows about cases?
Are you looking to protect from scratches or damage?
I've had a basic clip over case for about a year now and never scratched my lens. But the other day is was cracked. I ordered a replacement on eBay for 6 bucks. Easy fix.

I recently saw a case that covers all ports, has a flap that covers the camera which you can remove, its 3 layers thick. It turns your Evo into a literal tank. Sounds like something that would suit you well from what your telling us. But warning, the case is enormous. You should be able to find it at your local best buy, or radio shack, i even saw it at best buy mobile.
Seidio Rugged case has a rubber flap that protects the lens.
But it does add bulk.

(If you go to buy one, look around. I got one for $8.)
Edit: try a lens protector for $7

The lens protector doesnt cover the lens and i could see something small hit my phone to crack it.
Trident does
The ballistics covers it so well that you'd have a very hard time damaging the camera. It even has a plastic film to keep it from getting scratched

Is the S3's camera lens recessed from the back cover?

Planning to order my S3 here pretty soon and was wondering if the camera is recessed at all? I'm using the S2 right now and the camera lens protrudes slightly so it runs the risk of scratching the lens when place on a table, etc.
Just want to know so I can order a case, bumper, or skin to protect the protrusion. I actually plan to run no case at all, because I feel that it takes away from the overall feel of the phone from oem. I've always had cases on my phones and I think it's time to just rock it how it's meant to be. Thanks!

it protrudes slightly, but has a bezel. even the thinnest case will cover it. plus it's not actually the lense glass. the actual lense is recessed several millimeters

Camera glass

Is anyone else concerned about the glass in the camera getting scratched easily. I can already see some scratches on mine on the very first day. It's only been in my pocket and on my desk. I usually place it on top of papers though.

Have you removed the plastic protector over it ?
I didn't have a plastic on it. I doubled checked too

are you sure? I had a note which also had an exposed camera and no issues for 1.5 years

same here, i already have few scratches there
Are you sure?
I had the S3 for close to a year. With a similar design, I don't not have a scratch on my camera glass. I used my S3 naked and toss it around quite frequently.

Yup I'm sure. My S3 has a few scratches on the camera too. Not major ones.
I'll take some pictures of both cameras on each phone later

Isn't there a TPU that has the lips around the camera slightly raised so when it's in your pocket or on a flat surface the lens isn't touched?
I just got mine a few hius ago and just looked at the glass and there a a few light scratches on it already. This isnt gonna be good. I work at a body shop. Its going to get destroyed if I dont find a case that protects it

I've been worried about it too. I was hoping to get a screen protector that goes on the camera.
does anyone know if the full body shields also cover the camera.

I have the zagg full body shield and it does not cover the camera.
Seriously... Of all the things to have wrong with it, why does it have to be the camera glass? I would rather have creaking than a weak camera cover! I have NO scratches on my S3's camera... Why would they waste so much money on high end optics and then cheap out on the glass?! >_<

I saw that post but if you can get it off with your fingernail, then it will come off over time in the pocket. Poor design...
Yeah it is a bad design. they did it so the phone could be thinner. they can make the rest of the components smaller, but not the optics. That's why they stick out

Well the camera sticks out on my S3 as well but it hasn't scratched at all. I have an Incipio case on it (soft/hard shell) but it doesn't protect the camera from my keys and I regularly pocket the thing. From the sound of it, the S4 is extremely prone to scratches.

I think the issue is when you place the phone down on a surface, the camera lays flat on it and it gets scratched. If you put a case, most of them are thick enough and go over the height of the camera glass.
Sent from my SGH-M919
After looking at it again this morning mine has a clear protector over it with a small hole in the center for the lens. Thats where the light scratches are. Im gonna leave that on as long as it will stay. But im still worried about it. I got a pastel case for it yesterday that slightly syicks out further than the camera and hopefully when my otterbox case comes in it will protect it more

That would be all fine and dandy if it wasn't for the fact that the first two weeks I had my phone, I didn't have it in a case. It was in my jean pocket with lighters and keys. It came through flawlessly and I have never scratched a camera lens - it seems like this one is so scratchable that you could easily scratch it badly. Just seems like a stupid oversight.

Is it supposed to be removed? I have never removed those before. Or is it worth removing??
Yes, if you're talking about when you first get your phone. But my plastic was outlining the camera lens.. Not actually the lens. So the picture won't be distorted. I would take it off as it won't protect the optical lens itself.
Sent from my Note 4.
A piece of scotch tape usually does the trick to get that plastic off. It messes up your photos if you dont get that off there.

It almost looks like you can scratch it. I have a couple cases all of which are soft rubber the one I have on now is just an edge band so back is open and I have a screen protector I carry my phone in a side pouch. My reason is most cases interfere with signal strength especially otter boxes they are though better protection.
For what it's worth I don't think the plastic effects the lens but still wouldn't hurt to remove.
