[Q] nothing internet related will work b/c I deleted this app - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

epic touch flashed to page plus everything worked for about 6 wks then I downloaded Identity Safe Password Manager its uses its own browser and I didn't like using it so I stupidly deleted it. Now when I use the internet it goes to the sprint site "deviceselfservice.sprint.com:8000/" says "web page not available". I went back to the place that flashed it to page plus they reflashed it , thne i tried re installing then uninstall the Identity Safe Password Manager this internet still doesn't work. calls, mms, and wifi still work. Anyone have any ideas ?

Sound like the application modified your hosts file and/or proxy settings. Is this the Norton thingy? I'm not familiar with it. And it sounds like you may not be sure what you did or what happened.
A simple solution; use one of sfhub's one-clicks (full reset) to completely set up your phone as stock. You can back up your stuff as follows:
Install AppBak from Market, run it and save a list of all your apps.
Install SMS Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your SMS history. Install Call Logs Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your call log history.
Then flash sfhub's full reset Odin one-click package. Reload your apps and data and it should be good to go.

If that doesnt work, get your MSL and do ##72786# (assuming stock dialer) and enter MSL. Select "OK" on "Reset?"
This is a DSA reset. Your device will reboot and provision itself.
If thats still a no go, make a backup of anything you dont want lost and do a real reset: ##786# enter MSL and select reset.
This will even erase "USB Storage" ... Have a backup...
Edit: Do you know your MSID?
If in about phone/status it doesn't show your MSID correctly you can they this first.
##>yourMSL<#
Choose "edit"
Touch here
Enter correct MSID.

HSUPA cab wont instal!

I had the speed fix instaled but i did a factory reset to to clear up space and just instaled the thing I really use and now i cant unlock the HSUPA feature in advance network any sugestions
hmmm...well id say uninstall the cab. soft reset to make sure its cleared out. then if i remember correct, install the data fix cab again. dont restart right then when it asks. cancel it. then go to start menu. settings. advanced connections. then make sure to select the one that says HSPDA/HSUPA enabled. meaning both are enabled. after u do that, then soft reset it. once your phone boots back up, you should see the big H symbol next to your 3g one or whatever one you have. It worked like a charm for me. no problems. the H stays enabled on mines. Just make sure to do it exactly like that or its not probaly registering right or something or saving the changes. hope this helps you. let us know. i have the data fix, sd card tune up, no push internet, and dynamic proxy cabs installed. along with all bloatware deleted from phone. So my phone is wayyyyyy faster and smoother than b4. also added a ton more free ram available on startup, idle, and normal/heavy use. i also got drivers but going off subject..lol good luck
What is the latest version i've dowloaded jh2001's tilt2 data speed fix 1.0
when I open to install it says it is unsuccesfull
hmm..i just checked..i have the same version as you, the 1.0. you just have to make sure to install it in those steps i listed in previous post. Unless u have some custom rom or something and its not registering right. ok quick version. make sure its uninstalled. we starting over..lol Then install it directly to your device memory if the option comes up to do so. Then itll probaly say that u need to soft reset for changes to take effect. press cancel. you dont want to soft reset yet. then go to start menu, then settings, then advanced. You should see that it changed up from b4. You need to select the one that has both hspda/hsupa. make sure its selected. then go back out to main or home screen and soft reset. once your phone boots back up, you should see the H SYMBOl up top of your phone. you can also go to to your settings again . and go to advanced and make sure that it says hspda/hsupa. dont change anything else in there unless you know what you doing. might change something up. it should work wit no probs though. let me know if that still didnt work. theres nothing wrong with the cab. or just download it again, meaning a new one, and do those steps listed. enjoy your weekend.
Well Ive tried uninstalling previous installation but it doesn't show on the programs list and Ive followed the instructions given above but I still getting error installing the ceab I had it installed before and it worked!!

Clearing Storage will reset your phone to the factory (default) settings of your current ROM. Is an error message appearing when you try to install or is nothing happening?
I did went and clean the storage but When I try to install the cab it instantly says
"Installation of jh2001 tilt2 data speed kix 1.0 cab was`unsuccessful"
i really don't understand as i mentioned before it was working fine two week ago
Well just did a hard reset an erase the storage but still can't reinstall the speed fix!
Is there any other way or another cab to install?
Anybody reporting the same problem?
ok, you don't need the speed fix for HSPDA/HSUPA support. Download and install Julian Schapps advanced configuration program, you will also need to download and install .net ver 3.5 (get it from microsoft). Install and soft reset. Start adv config, scroll down to data connections and enable HSUPA support, soft reset. Then open settings, advanced network settings and then scroll to enable hspda/hsupa and you are all set. you will be getting around 2.2-2.8 MB/sec download speeds. This works well and you will see the H on your top line of the home screen. You do not need the speed fix, you can install it, but after these first two steps.

quiquerc, you can do what ms0529 just suggested, it should get you the HSUPA options and the related speed improvement by following those steps. However, each time you clear your memory like that (aka "hard reset"), you also wipe out some critical elements that have to be added to any new fresh ROM, like .net 3.5...so, you'll have to reinstall that anytime you wipe the phone, before many programs (like this cab) will install or work properly.
So, install .net 3.5 again real quick (see below), and you should be able to install and use the cab after that...however I DO highly recommend the advanced config app anyway, so you should try that out even if you don't use it to help you out with this (in fact, I've even attached the cab here for you as well )
Ive install net 3.5 directly from microsoft and the advance configuration tool
and was able to enable hspda But when I go to the advance network connection it doesn't gives me the option to enable it like the speed fix did.
I'm going to redo all the instructions above maybe I'm missing something.
Ive instaled the config tool and its worling fine now.
Im instaling android let's see what happens!!

I need the help. But there is no such option under "advanced network" on the htc tilt 2(Enable/Disabled hsdpa option). What programs recomended for me

[Q] evo4g on energy jan11 rom no data connection after sprint tech support

Hi folksi flashed energy jan 11 rom succesfully on first try then noticed no voicemail app or notification funtioning called sprint support they made me enter # codes ...still no voicemail and NOW no data connection(no 3g) ony wifi
please help me folks i wiped everything using recovery should i also format sd?
karmakid
Most roms don't come with a voicemail app.
If you have no 3g, that's a separate problem. Try updating PRL and Profile, if that doesnt work, call sprint and have then reprovision the phone. It will basically re-activate it. Don't mention that you are rooted or running a custom rom.
I may be mistaken, but I've seen people here on xda mention that you should be unrooted to activate the phone. I would at least flash a ROM that allows EPST and updating of the profile. Again, I'm no authority.
I'm guessing that they made you do a hands-free provisioning. Let's try this.
Look up MiseryInMotion's Barebones, thread. Find the download link in the OP for the odex one and download. Don't extract or anything
When the download is finished, mount as MS again. Transfer to your phone.
Transfer done? Unmount and navigate to the Wipe menu.
Wipe everything except for SD card. Twice. Believe me. Do it every time you flash a ROM.
Navigate to "Flash zip from sdcard" and find the Barebones .zip. Select with power button.
You are now flashing your first custom ROM, congratulations!
Let it sit there until it finishes. Then get back to the main menu and "Reboot system now".
Let your phone sit for a couple minutes. Skip sign-in. Reboot.
First, go to Settings - System Updates - and update PRL.Once that finishes, reboot.
Go to Market and get MSL Reader. Open the app. If it asks for "Superuser Privileges" then accept. It will tell you a 6-digit code. This code is unique to your phone. Write it down, but you can always get it again.
Go to Phone (Dial ##3282#, Choose edit mode) and enter your MSL code
select Data Profile
Hit the menu button and choose restore.
Just sit there, your phone should reboot. If it doesn't, then hold the power button and reboot.
Your phone should do "Hands-Free Provision". Once it says your phone has been provisioned, hit "Okay".
Once it starts to check for PRL update, hit cancel.
Turn on 4G, give it time to turn on (it doesn't need to connect)
Go to Phone (Dial ##3282#, Choose edit mode) and enter your MSL code. Select Advanced, scroll down to RTSP Proxy Port and HTTP PD Proxy Port. Click on them, set them to 0 (zero).
Set RTSP Proxy Address and HTTP PD Proxy Address to 0.0.0.0
Go back to the main menu of EPST and select Wimax
Find EntryRX and click on it
Change value from -89 to -110. Hit "Okay"
Hit the menu button and "Commit Changes" or "Commit Modifications". Your phone will reboot.
Go to Settings - System Updates - and Update Profile.
Once it finishes, reboot

How to COMPLETELY reset GS3?

I was restoring a backup of my stock ROM from a third party ROM. I have done this countless times before but for some reason, after restoring and rebooting, I got the "welcome and setup" screen as if my stock ROM was reset. That's fine, it wouldn't have been hard to re-download all the apps and reset the settings. However, I noticed that I no longer have 3G connection!
I have done an unroot and factory reset and wiped data since then but nothing
Please advise!

Had that once with the OG EVO... found that it was due to the profile being some how corrupted. Connect to wifi and update profile and prl, see if that helps
Best of luck

I would recommend using Odin and flashing the stock rom again. This will put you back to total factory and it will push through all updates. You can then update PRL and Profile if neccesary.

recommend the same stuff and must add to do a ##72786# in the dialer
You can also try forcing the phone to do a manual activation, if you are unable to perform a profile update.
1. Download Terminal Emulator from the Play Store
2. Open your Dialer and type ##3282#
3. Select Edit, then Input any number
4. When it says invalid code back out
5. Open Terminal Emulator and type getprop ril.MSL
6. Write down the 6 digit number that appears
7. Navigate to your phones properities in settings (settings -> About Phone -> Status)
8. Write down the Phone Number(if you dont know your own number), and write down the MIN (the MIN is also known as your MSID)
9. Open your dialer back up and type in ##YourMSLFromStep6# (ie. ##123456#)
10. Tap View If either the MDN or the MSID fields are blank, or full of Zero's you will need to continue with the next steps.
11. press your back button, and tap Edit
12. Select the field that was blank or full of zeros
13. Type in the number you wrote down for the appropriate field from step 8 and press OK
14. Once Both fields have the proper numbers in them (your Phone number in the MDN field, and your MIN in the MSID field) press your back arrow and select done.
15. If your phone does not automatically reboot within 60 seconds, reboot it yourself.
This should restore your data.
EDIT: I forgot to add, when you are viewing your phones properities (settings -> about phone -> status) if the MIN is blank or full of zero's, you will probably need to contact Sprint to get your MSID so you can perform the above steps. Again this is only if a profile update does not work.

This is the biggest hurdle, which very few people have successfully gotten to work. It is not a perfect solution but it works very well for us.
Download the following Zip file (not flashable):
Follow these instructions carefully:
1. Download and install Titanium Backup. You will also need the PRO version, so you'll need to shell out a couple of bucks if you don't already own it. It's well worth it anyways.
2. Download and install APN Backup & Restore from the Market.
3. Open APN Backup & Restore, ignore the ICS warning, and click on "Backup APNs". Exit out of APN Backup & Restore.
4. Place this folder in your SD Card.
5. Copy MetroPCS_MMS_Send_APN.xml from this folder to the APN Backup folder in the root of the SD Card.
6. Open Titanium Backup, go under Backup/Restore, and find APN Backup & Restore, press and select "Make system app."
7. Open APN Backup & Restore, ignore the ICS warning, press menu, and disable ICS check. Exit APN Backup & Restore.
8. Open APN Backup & Restore again, and now there should not be an ICS warning!
9. Click on "Delete APNs."
10. Click on Restore APNs and select "MetroPCS_MMS_Send.APN.xml".
10a. Press Ok after selecting the above.
10b. Press No when you get the message asking Yes or No.
11. Using Root Explorer or a similar app, copy the SecMMS.apk file from this folder to your /system/app/ folder.
11a. Make sure you are in R/W mode and click Yes to overwrite existing file if you get the message.
11b. Make sure to delete/overwrite any existing SecMms.apk from the /system/app directory. You should only have one SecMms.apk file.
11c. Make sure to delete any SecMms.odex if you're on the stock or an odexed rom.
12. Set permissions to RW-R--R--
13. Reboot.
14. Open the Messaging app and under Settings make sure to check (enable) "SMS split".

i tried this and dont know why my s3 keep saying Sprint and it dosent receive calls o text...
Can you please please help me if i do something wrong
Working Talk Text and Data
I literally got my talk text and data working 2 min ago. I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 that I now am using on Metro PCS.
What I did,
Step 1.
Install Samsung Drivers
Install Kies (To update: I was on 4.1.1 now I'm running 4.1.2)
Step 2.
Root Samsung Galaxy S3. I used Casual one click (It's literally one click)
- Google search key phrase 'root verizon samsung galaxy s3 casual one click'
Step 3.
Now you should have SuperSU
Download
1. APN Manager- I have APN Manager Pro
2. Titanium Backup
Step 4.
I used Titanium Backup to uninstall all the Verizon bloatware, and overall junk I don't use. With removing bloatware click on backup/restore then select and hold APN Manager Pro (or whatever) and select convert to system app.
Step 5.
If not updated to 4.1.2, do so. - You'll need to have the ability to add an APN, only possible with 4.1.2.
I bypassed setting the language etc. with the four corners technique. Google Keyword: 'android four corners trick'
Step 6.
I went out and activated a MetroPCS plan, and got a simcard. At this point I could make and receive calls and text, but no data or mms.
Step 7.
From APN Manager Pro I clicked insert new APN. this can also be done from settings -> More settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> More options soft key: Add new access point. (Updating from phone settings in my opinion is simpler)
Step 8.
New APN
Name: "fast.t-mobile.com" (You can put whatever you want)(without quotes)
APN : "fast.t-mobile.com" (without quotes)
MMSC: "htetep:mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc" (without quotes.Sorry i think you understand what i mean, please put in the letters and not htetep)
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
make sure APN is enabled is checked
Everything else has 'Not set', my APN protocol also says IPv4
Step 9.
Close settings completely
Go back to settings --> Access Point Names to make sure it is still there. Select it if not selected already.
Step 10.
Power off
pull out battery and sim card
wait 10 sec
power on
Step 11.
Enjoy data and mms.
Thank you guys for the instructions, I think I'm about to do the same for my Verizon S3.
But before I do, can you guys post what kind of speed you're getting on the new Metro(GSM)/T-Mobile 3G network?
I remember MetroPCS original 3G on CDMA was horrible and I just want to make sure the Verizon S3 won't suffer the same faith.
Thanks again in advance for you input!
Has anyone tried this with either JB? My phone is on the 4.3 update and I was wondering if it will work.

Your post is very promising to me since I'm looking to do the exact same thing and not looking forward to the complicated process detailed in the OP. I have a few clarifying questions I hope you don't mind answering for me:
1) Are you limited to 2G and 3G only, or are you able to have 4G/LTE connections?
2) Sorry to oversimplify your method, but boiled down, it sounds like you accomplished exactly what I want to do more or less by simply rooting, debloating, and changing the APN settings. Is this accurate? (Yes I've read your post all the way through five times+, I get there are certain important details to follow, but is my summary correct?)
3) I get the feeling you won't be able to answer this one, but worth a shot: Do you have any idea if this will work if the Verizon S3 came with KitKat (4.4.2) installed? Exhaustive research tells me it's impossible to downgrade android versions from this version.
Thanks for sharing this, and hopefully any answers you can give me. I'll be updating my post on whether or not it works for me when I try later
You are correct, root + debloat, change APN settings. When I had the phone I was limited to 3g speeds. I was still able to use maps, and surf without pulling my hair out. Although, most everywhere I went had wifi so I just ended up using that. As far as number 3, I am not sure. I no longer have the phone. Does the APN show up in network settings now? Could you just try the settings above? You could check if casual one click supports 4.4.2. If it does, you could give it a shot. I didn't have to use it, but if anything goes wrong use ODIN to restore your phone.
My sprint Samsung s3 has no card slot, and I'm with metro, can I use this method and get my metro plan on my s3??? Please need help!!!

[Q] CM 11 data connection troubleshooting (RESOLVED)

I have been running CM 11 Nightly builds, and everything has been working out pretty good, until just a day or so ago.
Now suddenly I find that I never get a data connection (3G, etc) - works fine on Wi-Fi of course though.
Using the FC09 multiboot, I am able to prove that it is not an issue with my phone hardware or my Sprint account.
FC09 has data connection and everything is cool, until I reboot into latest CM 11 (right now = cm-11-20140305-NIGHTLY).
(Since I don't have enough posts yet to ask this in the development thread, I thought I'd try here and see if I had any luck.)
In trying to research this, I see some talk of "APN settings" - but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to access those settings to change them
(Some advice said to speak "Open APN" into the voice dialer? But that is not doing anything for me...)
I guess I am also curious if this is happening to anyone else using CM 11 Nightly builds?
Again, the data connection works when I "multiboot" FC09, but cannot get it to work on latest CM 11 Nightly.
Any help or suggestions on things to check/tweak are highly appreciated - thank you in advance.
Yap... that append to me also, i'm on a GT-I9000 with the same NIGHTLY version. That must be a rom problem, because with the previous version, worked ok.
Getting closer to a solution (?)
Same problem (currently running cm-11-20140306-NIGHTLY)
I did finally figure out how to acces the "Open APNs" screen.
My mistake was trying to say "Open APN" from the regular phone dialer, which just threw the voice command to Google.
Then it suddenly clicked - they meant the separate application that is named "Voice Dialer".
(thought I would post that in case it saves anybody else some headache)
So then I found this buzzmobile link that lists "Sprint APN Settings for Android (US)"
http://buzzmobile.us/sprint-apn-settings-android-us/
I thought I was just about to get this all taken care of... BUT, now here is the problem:
No matter how many times I have tried to enter and re-enter the APN settings, they are not being saved.
I don't know if anyone has any experience with this issue, but if you have any advice, I am all ears - thank you.

Click to collapse
Boot into the temporary FC09 installation and try the "##DATA#" dialer code. If thats not the right code then its gotta be another one that allows you to access these settings. You may also need your MSL.
My journey
OK, so I'm back in business again, and thought I would share...
1) Booted into the "multiboot" FC09 and installed 'APN Backup & Restore' app
2) Made a backup .xml file from there
3) Rebooted back into CM11
4) Installed 'APN Backup & Restore' app - BUT - could not restore the APN .xml file yet - special steps needed to get this to work with KitKat
5) Installed 'ES File Explorer File Manager' app
6) Followed instructions in this article to change 'APN Backup & Restore' to a system app:
How To Install Any App As A System App On Android [Guide]
NOTE FOR KITKAT: where it says to move the app to /system/app, you actually have to move it to /system/priv-app
7) After following that, I opened up 'APN Backup & Restore' app, but I was confused that it still said "Unfortunately APNs cannot be restored or deleted on this device because Android 4.0+ does not allow 3rd party apps to Write APN Settings."
8) Then I realized that I still needed to go into the settings of the app and click 'Disable ICS Check'
9) Then the app was recognized as a system app and I could do a restore from my .xml file
[EDIT: attaching a .zip of the .xml file that I snagged from booting into FC09]
