use the stock one. I was using a cable i bought online and it took over 7 hours... lol stick with HTC!

You're better off using the stock charger. I tried mine with an extra BB charger and it took 4 hours to charge full while the stock charger needed 1.5 hrs.

It won't make any difference; the phone charges at ≈800 mA.

So even if we use a 2A charger the phone wont take more than 800mA ?

Exactly. I think it's overheating protection.

those are rated at 2200mah, with loss for charging and heat i'd assume you'd get somewhere around half a charge.
better to just get something like this

which can get you 2-3 full charges
To be honest am not looking at 2-3 chargers, I just need something that will give my battery more power so can watch football live when out and to play games, as I charge my phone every night ...
I get home from work with about 30% remaining but am curious about playing games etc just incase battery dies.... Was alright on 1.26 but since updating to 1.28 battery seems to have gone worse

Our battery is 1800mah and this is 2200mah so it should give it one full charge and a bit but in reality these batteries are usually 70% to 90% of their stated amount so expect one full charge. Its a bit pricey for 2200mah though, then again its very portable, let us know how it goes if you decide to get it
I'm thinking about this one, but I'm concerned about charging at non stock voltages/currents. Will charging at 5.2V damage the phone? What about devices that feed more than 1000mA?

This one looks a little too good to be true, 4000mah in such a small size, but it should charge our device just fine the charger supplied with our phone says it has a 1A output which is equal to the 1000ma supplied by this battery pack. If the device feeds more than 1000ma the phone will simply charge faster. The only difference is the charger supplied with the one x states an output of 5v while this one says 5.2v but I doubt this matters. I'd go with the first one .

My mistake, my old phone used to charge faster with a more powerful charger.
I have one of these.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Trent-I...MP50/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1336512020&sr=8-2
Bought it 18 months back for my DHD as I go to a lot of music festivals and I didnt want to pay to charge my phone up. I used it when I bought it from a full charge on my DHD and I got 13 full charges out of the thing. And lasts a full week when camping (as I charge my ipod too)
A load of my friends have actually gone out and bought them as a result of seeing and using mine. Not that big or heavy and great for use on planes as well! Has an autoshut off also so when the phone stops drawing power the battery pack shuts down to avoid draining itself.

Thanks for the pics they helped a lot, its not anywhere near as big as i thought it would be. I might pick one up for long journeys I'd be able to charge almost all of my devices fully.
I've got myself a power link 5200mah battery. Does 2 charges on my one x while gives 75% to my iPad. I think it was worth the £40 I paid

I bought Astro 3 two days ago.
I can say that it is more than expected. It charges my HOX very fast and I feel that my HOX battery life is much better now.
I am heavy user so screen on time was 3 hours maximum before Astro. Now it stays about 5 hours with heavy usage.
I strongly recommend this great product.

This phone takes FOREVER to charge.

Seriously who thought it would be OK to sell a phone that takes nearly 6 hours to charge on USB and nearly 3 on the wall?
Its not even like it gets to 80% after an hour then trickles.
Rant over.

i would have said it's a small charger ...
It is a 1A charger, but Battery Widget Pro evaluates charge at 650 mA ( = 0.65 A ) for me.
Charging a 1800 mAh Li-Ion at 1.8 A will last one hour.
Charging a 1800 mAh Li-Ion at 0.6 A ( 1.8 / 3 ) will last 3 hours.
It is just as simple as this for Li-Ion and Li-Po batteries.
I can even say that your USB charge at approximately 300 mA even not knowing your specs ...
I think we can use a 2A charger without destroying the battery,
but i think HTC deliberately "lowered" the charge rate ...
Maybe someone here already tested a 2A charger and see a difference ?

Get a charger with more amps yo.

Would you rather have it charged more quickly (like 1h or 1.5h) generating more heat and thus decreasing your battery life on phone which doesn't sport a removable battery?
I'm glad it's not that fast, the battery will last longer this way. If you don't care about that, get a "faster" charger and destroy your battery more quickly than the rest of use

Yes, i'm sure of that limitation too, but why does it charge in only 3 hours.
Looks like it is limited to 0.6A or my charger only charge at 0.6A
and doesn't have a good efficiency.
The two main possibilities are a bad battery which takes more time to charge
or a low charge rate from the charger.
While i suppose my battery is new and in good shape, it can be only due to charger or "software" limitation.
So for me the limitation is more like 600 mA and not 1A ...

Perhaps your not a heavy power user in a corporate environment who needs to charge the phone a decent amount in the airport, during the day, and so forth. HTC created a bigger problem by not allowing you to replace the battery.
Not hating, just saying, bro.

Seems more like you have a defective charger, or at least not one rated at 1A. Try a different one?
Even with a 2A charger I have, phone does take a dreadfully long time to charge. My Galaxy Nexus with the extended battery charges to full in about 1/3 the time.

Has nothing to do with how slow the HOX charges. The iPhone, blackberry, Macbooks, hell my old T61p ThinkPad all charge faster.

just bought a battery bank 10,000 mah !!

these things are amazing! no more do i have to worry about htc one x battery, all i do is charge it up, 1amp at 5voltes or 2 amp at 5 volts, doesnt get any better than that! it also charges up other phones as well!
the one i got is this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270939385624?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
but if you want go on ebay and type in "battery 10000 " or "battery 8000" and you get different battery banks,
i paid 25 quid for mine, awesome!! using it for all my phones and devices!!
edit:
hi there guys,i got a good 3 full charges and a half out of it, seems pretty decent and plenty of juice keeps my one x going, kept in the car the last few days and been gaming alot on my one x, here is a pic,
its about double the thickness of the htc one x
it took under 2 hours to charge, you can charge at 1amp 5v or 2amp 5v, obviously 1amp 5v is what you use for the one x, i dont know the exact time as i left my phone to it, then came back and it was done 100%
first 2 charges of the battery pack take 20 hours at 1amp 5v, then after that u are sorted

I agree, having had the Philips Power2Go SCE7640 for the last 3 years or so, it's been great for long-haul journeys, not having to worry about finding somewhere to charge the phone.
is this claimed 10,000mah capacity for real??
yep, the thing takes 16 hours to charge fully, but it will charge my phone about 8 times over, its not that chunky, here is a pic, i can fit it in my pocket, keep it in my car, or in my shoulder bag, it goes everywhere with me

We can’t always trust specs when it comes to cheap no-name batteries and battery packs on eBay. If you already have it can you do some testing and confirm that it charges at 1A (i.e: can fully charge from a low battery level in 3hrs) and that it can charge the phone at least 4 times from a single charge ?
I'm more concerned about the charging speed than the actual capacity. I'd be happy with 5000mAh pack if it can charge as quickly as an AC adapter.

well the first 2 times you have to charge for 20 hours, after that its up to you, its a lion battery high quality, I will test this over the next few days and confirm how many charges I get on my htc one x and s3 so I will know for sure, if it charges from dead at least 5 times then it is acurate and true,

Your assumptions are incorrect unfortunately....
its 10000mah at 3.7v
most of our devices are 5v like the htc one x....
This is the same for all batteries that I have seen, so even my 5000mah battery will only charge the phone maybe twice.....
10000mah am guessing about 3.5 times.... take in other aspects like losing power through heat and the quality of the cable and connectors too......

Micro USB port uses 5v to charge, but that is not the voltage of the battery. Most mobile phone batteries are 3.7v including HTC One X. Therefore 10,000mAh @ 3.7v ~= 5.5 times the One X battery's capacity

Basically my 5000mAh rated device will get less than 2 full charges for the HOX....
I paid about this much for mine about 2 years ago, but won't be spending more money as I only use it now and again on holidays.
yep is handy to have around if you are away for a bit, just remember use 1amp 5v charging usb port, not the 2amp, but im pretty sure the htc one x prevents over current anyway,, 2 amp is for tablets/laptops etc.
Just WTF. 10000 mah?! U crazy

[Q] Chargine speed?

Just got my G3 last night.
Loving it so far, but i noticed that the charging speed is very slow..
Also, the charger and cable that came with the phone gives me "weak power" notification even when I plug it into the wall.
So I have to use my old charger and cable...
any thoughts ?
Coming from a Note 3, this does feel slower.
Nexus ONE
I'm still using my galaxy s4 charger since its a larger cord. Charges about the same speed as my g2.
Yep coming from the note 3 I notice a difference too. It's gotta be the fact the note had usb 3.0

I haven't even used the one that came with the phone. Use the blackberry blade chargers, they'll charge at about 1% a minute or so. Best 5 bucks I ever spent.

The charger that comes with the phone is 1.8 amps, the Note 3 comes with a 2 amp charger. Not sure how much current the G3 can pull vs the Note 3, but you could try using a Note 3 charger and see if it's any faster.
I had an old charger by my nightstand and when I plugged it in at around 20% it said it would take it 6 hours to charge haha. The included charger quoted 2 hours.
It's possible that your cable (or the charger) is damaged OP
I plugged my 2 day old G3 in yesterday at 18% and it calculated charge to 100% to only take 1hr46min. Your charger must be phuked if it is showing slow charging. All chargers I have that are over 1.5mAh charge at the faster rate.

Mine charges no slower than any other phone I've owned. I don't do Samsung, so I can't say anything about them. Charges every bit as fast as my wife's M8.

This ^^^. $5 on eBay for TWO of them. They're 6 feet long, and charge at 1.8A - fast as hell on my N5. I'll see how it is on the G3 when I get it. But they're honestly so good I bought 6 of them total. For $15, and how good they are, why not?
Did u try them? Do u have link from ebay?

Quick Charging?

I got an M9 today, and im trying to see if my Adaptive Fast Charging cable from my S6 would work on my M9. On my s6 it tells me if fast charging is enabled, meanwhile this M9 says nothing. Is there anyway to know if it is actually fast charging without actually watching the charge and see if its "fast"?
I have the HTC quick charger and there are no messages or indicators that fast charging is in effect. Also, the Samsung quick charger did not appear to work on my M9.
Thanks man, so im kinda guessing I just have to watch real world usage and see... What a bummer
I tried using my Nexus 6 quick charger but I don't think it really charges quickly
That's disappointing that other quick chargers don't work on the M9. You would have thought that if the charger is Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 certified then it should work, right?
Some do. The Motorola quick charger that came with the Nexus 6 works fine with my M9.

that's the problem their not all "Qualcomm Certified" some chargers sold as quick chargers are the old Qualcomm Quick Charge 1.0 and only supply 1.5a at 5v and not the true 18W - 2.0a at 5v
Even the HTC rapid charge 2.0 is only listed as Output 5V at up to 12Watts/1.5A
The list of Quick Charge 2.0 devices is not that large
Quick Charge 2.0 Compatible models:
Samsung Galaxy Note 4/Edge,
Google Nexus 6,
Sony Xperia Z4, Z4 Tablet, Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet Compact, Z2 Tablet,
Motorola Droid Turbo, Moto X 2014,
HTC One M9, HTC One (M8), One Remix (Verizon Mini 2), Desire EYE,
LG G Flex2,
Xiaomi Mi3, Mi4, Mi Note, and more

but it would be no big surprise to me if samsung didn't put something in their charger to disable the quick charge function on non samsung phones
Im using the stock HTC charger and its telling me 9 hours until fully charged, lmfao.. wtf
Just acquired a note 4 adaptive fast charger, i'll give it a test vs the htc charger with minimal apps installed, the original S5 charger with a normal cable charges the M9 very quickly, this isn't a fast charger afaik, but it does the job a lot quicker than the original M9 one does.
Will see how it goes.
Just charged from 50 to 100 in 70 mins.
2 hours 20 minutes or there about.
That is not fast charging, at least not QC2.0 speeds. You're describing something probably charging 1100-1500
QC2.0 can charge from flat to fat in about an hour and ten minutes. +1800 - +2400 - think this is the one I'm using right now: http://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-Cert...9167&sr=8-1&keywords=quick+charge+2.0+charger $15, it charges in average about +2000mA.
That said, it would probably charge faster if the screen stayed off. Seems to drop down to +700mA when the screen kicks on, which it does at every notification.

I have the same charger and can confirm that it does charge alot faster with QC2.0 using battery monitor widget app.

It's not too bad is it? I thought my phone charged pretty quick using that
I have an older HTC charger at work that charges fairly slow. It appears to be around +700-800mA. The charger that came with the phone is much quicker. I assume it must be around +1200mA based on charge time. If I'm near a dead battery, I can get it back up to 100% in around 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

With standard charger I found that by not touching it charges quicker, once you start using it takes time. Same with in car it annoymed the most with how long it took.
