external battery charger? - Galaxy S III Accessories

They gave me a free extra battery when I bought the phone (is that standard?), but I have no way to charge that battery except when it's in the phone. Samsung stores say they still don't have those little external chargers like I have with my Note and S2. Are there any workarounds? The problem is that the S3 battery has four contacts, but the chargers for the Note and S2 have three. I tried it with my Note's charger, but it didn't work.

Wait for he external chargers coming out later this month

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S II Battery

Hi, I will soon receive my SGS II and I normally use 2-3 batteries for my current Nexus S to get by a single day. I'm wondering where can I buy SGS II battery and separate charger? I've searched everywhere but can't find one. Without extra battery my new SGS II will be kind of useless for me. I Know it has 1650 mah, but it just means I can get by with just one additional battery instead of two . Thanks.
usually stuff like battery's comes along a short while after a product has been released .

When you see what you have to do to get off the battery cover I predict you'll be wanting you go that less than three times in a day.

Get a powermonkey to keep your battery topped up. I've had one for years and has been a real life saver.

I personally would prefer a 3500mAh extended battery, like the ones available for SGS1 and HTC EVO. The price of these units is also reasonable.
cryptic, yes you are right, I have SGS II now for couple of days and removing the cover and putting it back on seems to be a pain in the A**. But looking at the battery life, it seems i'll be fine with one more battery and I'll just buy one more back cover should it break due to opening again and again which seems very likely.
tamas, I have been using extended batteries before and really loved it, but SGS II is the slimmest phone in the world, I don't want to make it look fatter and bulkier. I just like it being slim and very light. It may be even lighter then my Nexus S.
Don't worry about the back cover breaking or anything.

Yeah, there is always a tradeoff... The powermonkey and other similar solutions are even heavier and need more space. Right now I have a powerbank with 4xAA batteries, capable to charge any USB-powered unit - it serves well, especially if you want to charge different devices.
However it's ~300g and you have to hassle with the cable, which is not so easy e.g during trekking.

There are plenty of 3000-3500mAh batteries available for the SGS-1, let's hope they will come up very soon with SGS-2 compatible batteries.
P.S.: if anyone knows that one is available, please give a note here.
Weird. I got at least 20 hours out of a standard battery on the 9000.
Hopefully there will be a battery available soon, always prefer to have a spare on me, just in case...

I'll need one in about a month. There are great stuff on ebay for the SGS-1, such as 2x3500mAh batteries+cover in a bundle. I want something like that for my sgs2...
Finally it is now available on Ebay. Though I need just one extra with a charger, they include 3! All other sellers on ebay seems to be selling wrong battery.

That's still only 1650mAh=you have to turn off the phone and replace battery every time one is flat. I keep hunting for a 3000 or 3500mAh unit with back cover.

Nope, the one I am looking for is a big system battery, which needs a new back cover (~twice as thick as the original battery).
The phone gets thicker, but finally I can hike all day long using GPS with one charge and no hassle with external batteries/cables.

[Q] "Info: Battery Is Not Connected" Error

I was wondering if anyone knows a solution to this? I've been looking all day and it turns out that Samsung devices are programed to detect unofficial batteries and whatnot, which is probably why this appears. My battery (which I bought from a phone store) has been working for months, perfectly, until yesterday when I tried using it on one of my other phones (a kyocera echo that won't charge past 0% ) after trying it on that, it would not charge in my epic 4g, though it transfers files via usb flawlessly. I tried a few wall chargers, two different USBs, of which none charged. I happened to have an external charger which works, though takes almost twice as long as the phone took to charge.
The battery health is labeled as "failure" by numerous batter indicator apps. I tried hard resetting, flashing to stock (currently using an old version of stock). Some people have encountered this with some batteries they bought off of ebay, while other batteries from ebay worked perfectly fine for them.
Anything I missed? Am I doomed, should I take it to phone repair place?
Thanks anyone and everyone who replies! I'll try to post some pics.
Btw this is my first time on this site so I might sound very nooby, srry! ='(

His battery, which worked perfectly fine on his phone, when in my phone, would not charge and showed the same "battery is not connected" error. Which means I'm doomed right? ='(

yeah that's probably it. Luckily the 3500 mAh batteries w/ wall charger cost around $15 on ebay. I can still transfer files via usb, and those batteries will last nearly all day (according to people who tried them) and since one of them will always be charged I guess it can't be all that bad

No... you can't calibrate your battery. You can however condition the battery. This is done by fully charging for 12 hours. Then draining it to 0 and just doing that about 2-3 times and you'll be good to go. Just order it off amazon it will be the same price I have a review and link in the accessories sub forum.

ZeroLemon 2300mAh battery-HIGHEST CAPACITY SLIM BATTERY IN THE WORLD-CBA test~2400mah

Looks like ZeroLemon also have a slim battery for Galaxy S3 at rated 2300mAh. Given my experience with their 6300mAh capacity battery being more than they claim, these 2300mAh maybe more than 2300mAh :fingers-crossed: Anyone tried this yet? I have the 4500mAh battery and am VERY happy with it. I am not impressed by advertising that says "Highest capacity slim profile battery". That may be so, but you can only get so much power from a slim line battery. I thought I would never go to a battery that would require changing the size of my phone by putting on a different battery cover, BUT I'm glad I did.
The 4500mHh battery has been well worth it, IMHO. Got it from Gorilla gadgets, BTW.
Looks like it doesn't support NFC. I know that's a deal breaker for some.
I wouldn't trust anyone but Samsung to build a battery that fits under our stock battery cover that provides anything more than we already get.

I read a bunch of posts that said they were coming out with one.... It has been weeks though. I wish they could make a standard fit battery that pushes 3000-3300MAH like a droid MAXX battery.

Just ordered the set myself. Is there instructions for the first use? Fully Charge at first or something?
Sent from my Galaxy S3 using neighbors wifi
Yes the instructions say charge for 12 hours before use and they have a break in of 5-6 charges for full battery life. Also they have NFC enabled crossed of in black sharpie on them the charger feels a little cheap too and flickers when you have your phone on the USB port while charging one oft the batteries. How they expect us to charge them both for 12 hours is odd the one I put in my phone charged much quicker than that and leaving it on longer is pointless as when they hit full safe chargers stop charging the batteries.
Battery 1 finished in 10 hours on the charger battery 2 finished in 2 hours in phone on stock charger stock battery is in charger now.
Charger had the following colors for led
Blue- no battery powered
Pink-battery charging
Purple- battery done
Also while charging and using the USB port is possible the charger led flickers when doing so. I don't believe it has enough amps to power both unfortunately. None of the batteries got warm at all while charging.
As for NFC Samsung should have never put it in the battery to begin with I'm thinking about getting a galaxy note 2 back pulling the NFC ant out of it and putting it in my s3 as they put the contacts for wireless charging and NFC external ant in our phones.

Its more convenient to have 2 ZL, using the first one while charging the other one, then swap. I have 2 chargers, the 300 mah and 450 mah, but both takes 24 hours to charge anyways so doesnt matter.
If you only have 1 ZL, the advice i can give you is just go back to stock while youre charging the ZL.

I agree, 2 ZL's are the way to go. Fortunately for me, I do not have a case yet, or anything....everything is all stock. I was thinking of going with the otterbox case and modding it to fit the ZL battery. I just discovered that ZL said that they will make a "rugged" external case like the otterbox but it will probably be in June some time.
Either way, I have DECISIONS, lol. But can you point me to the link for the 450 external charger? 24 hours to charge wouldnt hurt at all (if one has 2 ZL batteries)

And as for the 450 charger, I actually got that charger when I bought the 2 slim 2200 anker batteries from amazon, i think it was $19.99 the charger and 2 batteries. Just to add my 2 bits, I seem to have a slightly updated model of your charger that I received from my last Hyperion battery purchase. Stil dog slow @ 350mA±50mA, though. HTH.
Mine recharges from about 10% to full in about 6 to 8 hours in the phone.
MD4 stock rooted odexed, modded
According to the instruction from ZL, they advise us to charge the battery with original charger. Do you think it's not good for the battery to be charged with external charger which is not original?

Zero lemon sells an external charger for extended batteries, as does Anker. Beware- the chargers look the same, but the Anker will not charge the ZL7000 / Anker7200 past 88%.
The ZL extended charger-
Charges via USB or installed in charger.
The ext charger is slower (600mah) then via the USB. 1000mah.
It takes 12hrs to charge battery on charger, and only 8 hrs via usb to phone.
If I've helped you, hit thanks!

It depends entirely on the output of the charger used.
I have the ZL external charger and it offers two charging options. With the battery on the charger, the output is only 600Mah taking roughly 12-13 hrs. If you use the usb cord and charge the battery in the phone, the charger output is 1000mah taking roughly 7-8 hrs.
Hit thanks, if I've helped you.

They can be charged either way, though they will charge fastest when you plug the charger into the wall and put the battery directly into it. This is probably also best for the battery life in the long run.
Any updates about the quality of the battery? I just ordered one off amazon myself, hahaha. My current battery lasts 4 hours if I'm lucky on any rom, so I figured it was time for a new one.
Good call! :good:

I sure hope it's good, I bought a set on amazon and I'm going to start using it tomorrow. I've noticed a drop in my oem battery life, so thought I'd give these a try.

I have those batteries and ordered them thru amazon..They work great!! but you get better charging with the charger that comes with it that connect to the wall socket. after you see the blue light..leave it for 15 more mins..as it get better charge!! They're just about the same as the stock batts..No NFC also.

I like these batteries so far. I've been charging just through plugging my phone in, and I've seen no issues. The charget hey come with is handy too.

Does the 2200 battery fit with the stock cover plate?.. I have the S3 and my wife has the S2 so I dont much about the S2 phone.
I have these batteries and yes, they fit the stock backplate. I give them 4/5 for stock replacement just because no NFC. Actual charge capacity is great for the stock size.
