[Q] Multiple Exchange Accounts - how to change outbound account on a single message - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have a bone stock GSM Galaxy Nexus (and am a recent iOS convert). I have two Exchange accounts setup in the email client (not the gmail client). For sake of argument, they are "email1" and "email2". My default account is "email1".
My problem is that sometimes I want to send mail from "email2" when sending email via other apps. A typical example is when I'm viewing a picture I just took with the camera and I decide to email it to a friend, but I want the email to come from "email2". How do I use (or re-configure) the email client to let me choose the outbound (from) email address?

I'd like to know too...

[REQ]Activesync incoming mail rule to fetch other accounts

It's great that googlesync allows true push email to the HD, but we're still restricted by WM 6.x to only one ActiveSync account.
But it occurred to em that we could use this to create pseudo multiple accounts. My idea is as follows:
Set up a GMAIL account.
Set up Activesync so that the new GMAIL account syncs with your Windows Mobile phone. It only needs to pull mail from "1 day" and with a 2Kb size limit as we are actually only interetsed in the header, not the mail itself.
Forward all incoming mail from other accounts at any provider to the new GMAIL account so they are pushed to the phone. Use the GMAIL "[email protected]" to set "marker" to identify the account that the original mail came from
Set up ordinary IMAP (or POP) accounts on the phone with the names of "marker". Set these accounts to "manually" retrieve mail i.e. no schedule.
Have an app on the phone that reads the incoming "pushed" mail from the activesync account, looks at the "marker" and uses that to trigger a "get mail" call for the appropriate account on the 'phone
Delete the original Activesynced email.
And just like that, every time a mail comes into any of the accounts, they are synced to the phone which then pulls them into the "correct" account from whence they can be replied etc. with all the correct email addresses.
Now I know that for you in the development world, this is an easy task. For me, I have a problem writing Step 5 above as I am not a Windows Mobile coder. Yes I could learn and in the spirit of XDA I probably should - but is there anyone else out there who would like to give this a go?
I'm posting a poll too so that potential developers can see if there's demand for this. Please vote if you think it would be a beneficial app.

[Q] unified inbox for gmail and IMAP emails?

so i have multiple emails. One is google but the other 2 are POP/IMAP accounts for work/school. in wp7 and iOS, there are options for a unified inbox (linked account in wp7) that displays all of your emails together. on my old android phone, i had to use a separate application to view my POP/IMAP accounts, and then switch back over into gmail to view my gmail stuff.
is there a unified/linked inbox in android 4.0? if so, how does it work and can someone post some photos?
and before anyone says "just add your IMAP account into gmail", i'm well aware of this function but sometimes its better to leave your work/school and private emails separate.
"sometimes its better to leave your work/school and private emails separate"
Then just use the Gmail app for your personal email and the Email app for the other accounts.
To answer your question, no I don't believe there is a unified inbox in ICS.
Sadly, that is why so many opt for 3rd party mail clients, I want a single inbox to manage my mail.
You could connect to your gmail account over imap, which would give you a unified inbox. It's just not quote as polished as the dedicated gmail client.

Email in the phone

Guys
I am using an Android phone. I have the stock email program and I have also K9 and Enhanced Email all running at the same time.
I have an Gmail account but don't use it for email or for nothing really dont trust the cloud/google.
My problem is all the email apps work great BUT when I open outlook then they all get removed form my phone. So basically the only emails I am left with are the send ones(in my phone). This happens with my POP and exchange accounts.
My question:
1) is there a Mail App that will make a copy of the email in my phone so when I open outlook they wont get sync and disappear?
2) If number 1 is no then is there a easy way to full your phone to keep the emails.
Thank you

A properly configured Exchange server usually doesn't allow the local device to retain the message data, it's all accessed real-time from the server. Its possible you have what I call a Half-Ass Exchange, which means you have a central address directory, but the IT department set up Outlook and Exchange to store messages locally on the PC rather than on the server. This would lead to what you are experiencing... Outlook takes all the messages off the server, leaving your phone with nothing to see when it connects. There's not a whole lot you can do about that unless your IT guys will move your email data to the Exchange server. Or maybe they have an IMAP access option. (See below)
With pop3 accounts... You have a similar problem, except there is no way to for two different devices to access the same data. The closest you can get would be to configure both devices to leave messages on the server after downloading them. Any emailed replies then can only be accessed from the device from which you sent them.
If you have the option, switch your pop3 accounts to IMAP. All user data is kept on a server (just like GMail), and any device that is connected to that account automatically syncs with the server, including access to deleted messages and sent messages sent from any other device.
All that being said... The stock email program kinda sucks. I would stick with the 3rd party apps like K9.
This is a new issue to me. I came from a PRE WEBOS and i did not have that problem. I believe the problem is in the way ANDROID OS handles emails. Basically all its changed is the device all else remained constant. I believe but not sure that if i was run all my mail thru gmail this will not be an issue. Its that true?
Thanks

I access my pop3 mail just fine using K9 (again, I don't like the stock email program). Downloaded messages remain on my phone after they've been downloaded by my Thunderbird installation on my PC.
My current company doesn't have an Exchange server, so I can't speak to that with direct knowledge... My lat experience with Exchange was about two years ago, so its behavior could certainly have changed! My current company has 10 locations, and they are content to use a 3rd party pop3 solution for email. As an IT man, that annoys me, but then, I don't write the checks!
If you haven't changed any settings in your Outlook, then I would look closer to your settings in the email programs. K9 specifically has a setting that you need to check in order to download the messages to your phone (as opposed to just reading them off the server). I don't remember if it came checked by default...
Check to see if your phone email programs are set to actually download entire messages from the server, or just the message headers. In K9, there is a specific setting under account

I don't see that option on my Enhanced Email program nor in the stock email program and I can not use K-9 because y does not support outlook 2010 exchange yet.
thank you

Email issue

Ok using the default email app that comes on the phone ( I like it better than my gmail account ). I have 3 email account work, personal, and professional personal. When I respond to a email from work it uses my personal email to do it. I want it so it different email uses its own account to respond.
Anyone else with this problem? I kinda need it solved quickly of course because of being on the road and responding to work email.
Thanks guys.
There is no option like that. It's not the email application problem but it's the general email client issue.
If you set up multiple email account on one email client, email client is only available to use one account when you reply.
Dirty but working method is, you need to go account settings and check the 'send email from this accounts by default'.
One of your accounts is set up as the default account. I believe if you unchecked that option it will fix your issue. the next time you compose a email it will ask what account you wold like to use.

how to get PUSH email on new GS3 (insurance replacement)

I lost my old GS3, but just got a new one in the mail. I tried to set up the email like on my old one and Note 10.1 as an ActiveSync Exchange but it won't let me. I left domain as "\[email protected]" and the server as m.google.com and I will NOT tolerate late emails. What can I do? I don't like GMail cuz I cannot attach documents other than photos/videos.
I only use email apps from the Play Store. The following ones have good reputations and work with Push email.
Enhanced Email
K9
AquaMail (Push does not work for Hotmail/Live but it does for Gmail).
