[Q] Does this battery time look average? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

http://imgur.com/a/7zLjf#9
I just want to make sure that this battery life looks reasonable. A good portion of these images were taken yesterday, and I wasn't really messing with my device all that much, as I was doing a lot of work.
Thanks for your help, I will try to get some better detailed descriptions per image next time I am almost down to no battery.

Nope. It doesnt really. Gtalk is keeping your phone awake a lot.

I don't necessarily agree with the Gtalk issue but I do notice two problems.
First of all, you only had signal 60% of the time (?) and you are using Facebook. I would disable the facebook app or remove it since it's notorious for causing severe battery drain (at least for now). If you're in a low signal environment, you won't be able to really judge battery life very well since the phone is expending a lot of energy trying to maintain or look for a signal.

I read somewhere that gtalk eats up a lot of battery? aint it so?

Its possible. I can't tell from the logs he posted if it was causing problems. Its one of the apps that I freeze or delete cuz I don't plan to ever use it.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA

Unfortunately, Facebook is a must, all of the notification settings and geo-location stuff is disabled. I gotta be addicted to something right? I have contemplated deleting my account, so when that happens the app will be removed.
Gtalk is now frozen.
Low signal, I can't really help, I work in a brick building.

That isn't very good battery life it also depends on how much you were using it.

Bump added pictures for the past two days worth of battery stats.
I tried having Google Talk disabled for two days, didn't seem to decrease the awake counts.
So I tried uninstalling it, still doesn't seem to have helped at all.
Today, I may have used the phone for an hour and a half maybe. Beyond that, I haven't really used it.

Dracula?? (com.lge.dracula)

So hunting through the bloat I chance upon this interesting kibble. Using nobloat I disabled it and thusfar no issues...But doesn't anyone know what the heck it is?
Google wasn't much help in that regard.
Maybe it is the dreaded "Battery Sucker" we are all searching to disable/stake through the heart/flame to hell, cut it's scrawny head off???
that's weird, i just checked and mine has com.lge.wolfman

Imagine it is the reason why the battery life is so horrible. And if so, why is it there to begin with? hehe
makes us actually wonder that question with serious thought, just WHY is it there and named so? i can actually say i saw battery life decrease when i enabled it. i could leave my phone unused in my holster all day and see little dropoff, but when i re-enabled com.lge.dracula i actually lost 3/4 of my battery power by mid-day!! coincidence?? maybe....LTE affiliation? possibly.... "battery sucker"?? certainly.

Sent from my LG Nitro HD
Can someone run it with the others over at Skyrocket's forum n see if it's also available on their phone. If it is, then it might be LTE related.
Repherb, when u disable it, did u check to see if your LTE will work or not?
i froze dracula through Titanium backup , currently connected to LTE, no problems here, restarted to make sure. it is still frozen and LTE connected.
LG Optimute LTE. P930.
Who can we inquire to here in XDA to research on this random file? Can someone from XDA investigate with LG to find out the purpose behind this file?
Also, is there any possibility of some screenshots to show the difference freezing Dracula does to the battery life? This way we can prove that this file (or Wolfman) does suck the life out of the battery and is the reason behind the horrible battery life.
Froze it, no discernible difference in battery life imo.
Ran a video playback test, the extrapolated playback time at 40% brightness in airplane mode is about 5 hours 20 mins. The same test on my SGS2 got slightly over 8 hours.
LTE works fine when disabled, i am going to dive into the OS to see what calls this. btw: after rooting with DoomLord v3 zergrush, i am getting a serious amount of FC with nothing disabled using GO launcher. anyone else having this? just a [Q]... not trying to cross post...
**************UPDATE******************
after running top, i found that "lg_fota" (OTA updates) calls the Dracula process. hope this sheds some light on this elusive process.
I hate to reopen a two year old thread, but since Dracula is actually undead, I just have to ask: has anyone figured out what com.lge.dracula is, and if it's safe to chuck it?

i love my Gnex but......

if the battery life doesnt get better im selling this crap. i love this everything about the phone but the battery life. its just plain crap. can you guess please help try and figure out the problem. i have flashed every kernel and rom and always bad battery life.thanks
Looks like user error to me. There are a lot of times that your phone is awake and the screen isn't even on. Your apps are what is killing your battery life.

most people get between 4-5 hrs of screen ON time, this has nothing to do with ur gnex, it's related to an app u have, try to locate it and uninstall, or mail the developer about the issues u're getting with it.
you have bad signal and your apps are keeping the phone awake.
You can't seriously blame the phone for what is user error.
Your apps are what's causing the massive drain and unless you do away with the apps causing this drain, your battery life will always seem crap. I suggest you uninstall KTREweather and find a weather app/widget that's more reliable.
I take it it's this app you're using? https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rdHJlLmFuZHJvaWQud2VhdGhlciJd
Judging by its features, I'm not suprised it kills your battery. Live radar and storm tracking? Who needs that?
You have serious drain from awake apps, and looks like you're doing a lot of streaming radio/music? And your signal is absolutely terrible. All of these together will absolutely drain your battery.
use this free app called diagnosis to figure out which apps or processes are causing you trouble https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.diagnosis&hl=en

generally, i dont let anything run on my phone that i dont want it to run. if you have root, there is a good app called autostarts that lets pick what app you want to start up when the phone boots. only when you actually open that app itll start up https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.elsdoerfer.android.autostarts&hl=en

Tbh I let Android do all of the app management. I also only install apps that I'm going to use as well as keeping them running to a minimum in the background.
If you don't like the battery life buy a bigger battery.

Really? Do I need to find one of the few battery life screenshots I have to prove you wrong? 4-5hrs on stock battery, 6 on extended.
Why do people keep saying this ****? Get apps that don't eat your battery. Until then, don't try to claim someone else is wrong.

Maybe its because its a CDMA nexus. This is my GSM on T-Mo, as you can see reception is worse then yours yet I'm still at 75% after 8 hours of use:

Battery life (all roms)

Ok folks, We know that battery life on JB is sub par. But again it's all dependant on user. If your online all day, streaming, playing games, of course your battery life is going to suffer. It's hard to compare between users because we all use our phones differently. Here's a few things that will help this is on all roms. I'm all about making my phone last all day (Texting, occasional calls, reading XDA, News, Email, things of that nature) and i can get my phone to survive my 10 hour workday without a charge and still make it till I head to bed. Here's a few things that help or seem to help... (NOTE: Current rom i am running is in my sig)
Juice Defender- Use this program to manage data.. (My setting- Off with screen off, on with screen on) I don't have 4G in my area, and honestly if i did, i wouldn't really use it unless i was downloading something large. Huge battery drain there.
Screen Brightness- Turn it down! If ya don't need it all the way bright then turn off. Autobright (To me) seems to kill battery because those sensors have to determine how bright/dim to make the screen.
Notification Lights- These will kill the battery as well (across the board) Turn them off if you really don't need. Most of us have our phone close at hand or in an area where we can hear it. So don't need extra "Hey, you've got a message" flashing at ya.
Sync Settings- Emails, Facebook and such, the more your phone connects to the network, less it's going to sleep screen off, and more juice it's gong to use. Change duration between these to make longer before it auto syncs (4-6 hours) just remember if you open the app, it's going to sync anyway.
Placebo 2.0 (Credit to devs please!) This is honestly helped alot (IMO) I run this on Shift 3 and i see awesome battery life. (14 hrs to 45% with 1.5-2 hrs screen on time) So yes, can make a difference!
Agat's Kernel (Credit to devs please! If running an ICS rom, This kernel is awesome. Nuff said!
Gtalk This app is Autosign in, Turn this off, sign out, disable if your not using. Will save you some juice in the end.
All of these things will help slightly increase your battery life.. Now YMMV depending on use for sure.. But these are a few things that can help somewhat make that phone last alot longer.
*DISCLAIMER*
I do not promise all this will actually help you in your case, It's merely some thing that have helped me personally and are typical things i do to every rom I run (which changes constantly) to ensure my battery will last longer. This is merely my opinion on things, and not a reflection of anyone on XDA or the devs we have. Thank you.
If you have anything else that might help along the way, feel free to add on here.. PM me.. Thanks folks. Mods, Hope this helps if not.. feel free to delete it.

Phone Awake

My battery life is not good lately. Someone on here told me to get better battery stats. How do I find out what is keeping my phone awake?

Not sure what ROM you're on, but you usually find it under Settings/Power/Battery Use. This shows a graph of your battery life and a list of programs underneath that have been using the energy.

I believe in better battery stats you let it run for a day or so, then go look at wakelocks and try to decipher what programs are unnecessarily causing them. I tried using the app, but it isn't very clear how to use the data. I would bet there is an xda thread devoted to better battery stats that might give you a rundown, but I don't have a link to one myself.

CM7.2. I did this and my display and voice calls which are always the biggest battery burners were twice as worse as they usually are--which doesn't make sense.
Someone told me that better battery stats would help me resolve the issue so I downloaded it.

+1. I bought it, it's telling me my phone is awake longer than the display is on, but this doesn't help me at all. I need to know what app is causing this.
I remember reading that deep sleep doesn't happen on cyanogenmod in some cases. Can someone confirm this?

That should get you started. I imagine there are plenty of people asking how to use it, but again, I'm not reading through it to find out.

General November update still battery drain 25% on standby in 8 hours

Why? I have restricted all apps I can, still drain very fast....
In my opinion this is a thing that has been on Android (and sometimes Windows and iOS) phones since day 1. Specifically that some people randomly get very poor battery, especially standby battery, which most people are fine. It's a problem with a huge number of unknown causes and few solutions. My recommendation is always - do a hard full system wipe. The three or four times it's happened to me, this was the solution.
With the lack of information you gave there are so many reasons your phone's battery could be sucking now. I suggest doing some research and digging through XDA or some other nerdy site. I don't mean this to sound bad, but figure it out on your own. If you find something that works, share it here.
I went from 4h SOT to 2h SOT after the update same or less usage
Are u rooted? Without root it's pretty hard to do much. First thing u need is data. Find out what is using too much batt. You can use the battery section in settings to get clues. If u have root you can get even more info/data. Once u find the app or process responsible then u can drop the hammer on it.
November build have a lot of bugs, wifi sucks battery sucks, call quality is poor....

Try a clean flash using PixelFlasher or the Android Flash Tool through Chrome browser and skipping the initial setup guide. (Old backups can cause problems). Once your Pixel is running then you can set your apps up!
