Bike Mount/Holder ? - Galaxy S III Accessories

Anyone found any good Bicycle / bike holder/mounts for our SIIIs yet ?
There are only a few options right now on ebay like the "Bike Bicycle Mount Holder For Samsung Galaxy S 3 III I9300" (can't post link) but i don't really trust my galaxy on it

Pebble Smart watch
I haven't seen any specific mounts but you will be able to use a smart watch. I'm getting a pebble for this purpose.
Cheers

car holder for MDA compact III

Hello,
I wanted to get a car holder for my MDA Compact III,
do you guys recommend an air vent car holder or a windscreen mount phone holder?
Have a look at the Brodit range they do a nice holder active and passive and a number of options to hold the unit in your car. I use the Brodit and HR holders in my vehicle - have a read of http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/broditartemis.php for a few details - Mike
thanks for the reply,
is the HR one the windscreen mount phone holder?
The write up contained Brodit products, only one part was the HR holder coupled to the Brodit Pro-Clip, you can see the three pictures using the HR Holder around the text -
"The HR mount is supplied with a flexible arm and windscreen suction cup, I much prefer the Brodit Pro clip as it provides a more stable mounting solution that is vibration free."
or read my post at this link http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modul...pic&t=48131&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=51
Both Brodit and the HR units can be used with a winscreen holder or Pro clips, an edless choice of options depending on the vehicle and phone - Mike
thanks for the reply,
i am a bit confused as to how to select the car holder. i am a bit concerned as to if the car holder would fit the MDA copact III.
i checked in the t-mobile store and they are doing something for 10 pounds. the upside is if it does not fit, i can return it.
but then i be limited to a certain choice.
not sure if i should be going for something that attaches to the vents or something that sticks to the windscreen.
i came across this one
http://www.lhdigital.co.uk//product_info.php?cPath=6_127&products_id=126
is there much between two holders?
Its quite a simple choice to be honest, are you happy to entrust a cheap £10 holder from the shop that can mount a mutitude of devices or get a specific holder that has a degree of quality about it?
I have a T-Mobile generic holder and its CR*P - I certainly wouldn't use it to hold a device worth around £400 - your choice - the position is down to what suits you and the style of mount/ Pro clip available for your car - or go with the cheap offerings and take a chance - Mike
thanks for the reply mike,
i think i will go with a nice decent holder.
i looked ath the herbert rickter mount in the post, and the verdict is that it vibrates.
would it be correct to say that all windscreen mounts vibrate?
i have been using the regular tomtom on the windscreen. so i am used to that.
does a pda on the air vent enable easy viewing for navigation purposes (i guess one gets used to it)
are all the herbert richter's the screen mounts.
what is pro clip?

Well I trust my device to a £3.50 flexible windscreen mount from ebay, and it works perfectly!
I've tried vent mounts, but they are generally rubbish - but it could be my vents! I've tried magnetic ones but they don't stick to my dash - it could be my dash! So far, the windscreen one has been perfect! Although it did wiggle about a bit until I 'adjusted' it by getting it to rest against the instrument console. Not a judder out of it now! and I highly recommend it and the £36.50 saving

what is the make of your windscreen mda holder?
It was this one
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160072850929&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:UK:11
but I was mistaken about the price, sorry. It was 99p +£2.99 postage
EDIT: they are being sold by someone else now

and the postage is only £1.99
thanks for the reply,
i went to the site and though it says that 5 are available i cant seem to be able to buy it.
i think they are all sold out. if you come across any other holders do let me know.
Search ebay for
"Air Vent Mount Suction Car Holder"
there are quite a few
I personally use a Brodit mount attached to a Dashmout bracket.
The wives Vario also uses a brodit mount but attched using a Brodit Proclip, nice and easy to install.
See attched for my car. Need a new pic with the phone attched.

Brodit car dock

Hi
Does anyone know whether a Brodit car dock/mount is coming?
Matthew
Sent from my Motorola Xoom
I asked last week and was told not at the moment but if they get enough interest they should.
Dammit... Thought I'd enquire for an update, and register the aforementioned interest:

Hi,
I’ve got one of youR Nexus One active holders, and I love it. I’ve got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus now, is there any plans for you to make an active holder for this new phone?
Regards,
Will

Hmm. I was hoping for this as well, I have the active dock for my Nexus One. Looking at the shape of the base and the audio socket though it might be awkward to construct.
I also sent email to Brodit. Hopefully they will provide holder for SGN too. If not, then I probably have to choose the Samsung's own suction cup alternative.
I got an email back from Brodit (see below) - looks like we're in luck!
I'm guessing it'll be out in the New Year.

Great news about the Brodit dock, it's a pain trying to use in the car without it at the mo. I have my brodit mounted over the vents as I hate having stuff stuck to the windscreen.
Google's Car Home in the market isn't compatible with ics yet, I'm using CarHome Ultra which is ok, but isn't interfaced with the home button.
That's great news, my girlfriend and I have been Brodit users for many of our phones and cars, well chuffed they'll be having a holder for the Galaxy Nexus, as soon as one appears I'll be making a purchase.
I remember in the early days of the Nexus One that this handset fitted into one of the iphone Brodit holders and the holder was flock lined, as opposed to bare plastic. Does anyone know if the Galaxy Nexus fits into any other current model of Brodit holder ?

I'm waiting on a Desire HD holder that *may* work according to the published dimensions. Worth a punt on eBay for few £ I thought..
I can confirm the Desire HD dock doesn't fit the Galaxy Nexus... sorry to disappoint you!

Too big / small ?
Ah well, I've only bid £0.01
Another one for the collection then...
The dock is too small and the charger connector isn't in the correct position.
I know cos I previously had a HTC Desire HD and I was hoping to use the car dock for my nexus.

Fantastic, do you know what method will used to charge it will it be micro usb or pogo pin?
No since they still are under construction I can only ask you to check our web for updates.
I have always used brodit mounts, however I try and void the active mounts as I don't always want to charge the handset when I pop it in. Also it's nice sometimes not to have the cable dangling around.
Any news on when the non charging mount will be released?
Wouldn't the adjustable holder work then if you don't want the active mount? I know it says nexus s but the width can be adjusted from 63-85mm wide.

do you know after all these years of using brodit holders I did not know they made an adjustable holder! Would have saved me alot of money.
Thinking about it I would still prefer a holder that was made specifically for my device. But thanks for your suggestion.

Ditto here.. unfortunately I've already ordered RamX universal holder to cross fit to my Brodit mount
It's listed and available in the UK through holdersandmounts, though reading description, it seems delivery is not until the new year.
Listed on Brodit now passive cradle

Galaxy note car mount

Folks can anyone recommend a decent car mount for the note? I don't want to use any adhesive or suction cup types since I am scared of those falling off.
Thanks

I've used a 'breffo spiderpodium' and found it pretty good.cheap and simple
Yeah but the official Samsung one uses a suction cup
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note using Tapatalk
the official samsung units have an amazing suction cup.
I had an official Samsung car dock for my P1000 Tablet, There was no way in hell that thing was ever going to fall off.
even sitting on the windshield in 40degC days (Australian summer), and cool night temp changes didn't move that sucker.
Hell, I had struggles getting it to release when I wanted it to release...
Samsung dont skimp on their kit... its why it costs so much more.
I have a proclipusa car mount. So I recently got the Regular Adjustable Holder with Tilt/Swivel here. You can get Proclipusa holders with the charging ports built-in as well specifically designed for the Note - but I wanted something I can use for future devices if needed. The adjustable holder works with my thin Rearth Ringke Slim case as well. I think I may need to add some extra padding to make it a little more snug and secure feeling. It seems to wobble a bit because the slot is a bit thicker than the Note (crazy thin btw).
I use a PHONEclip, which attaches the G-Note directly to the steering Wheel.
You can find detailed info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22252176&postcount=24
In the same thread also more info about the above mentioned 'breffo spiderpodium'
Went on Amazon, spiderpodium reviews were mixed, many found it to be very low quality construction.
That steering wheel clip sounds interesting, unfortunately I have a boxwave case on my phone. Probably wont fit.
Are there any US etailers selling the official Samsung one?

Mounting your Note on your steering wheel is not a good idea if you have an airbag... Just saying.

A bit too pricey for me, guess I'll just have to continue charging it by my cup holder for now...

hahahaha!!! So true and so unintentionally funny to envision, in mid-air-bag-deployment-to-face-contact! lmao
I can see the coroner's quote now:
"There's a good chance he'd have survived the impact with no more than a contusion and a couple of scrapes, but the force of the air-bag drove his near tablet-sized device clear through his skull and out the back side of his spinal column in what appears to be less time than it takes a humming bird to make a single wing-flap."
hmmm, you have a point there. So it's a choice between convenience or safety, difficult decision...
To answer seriously, I've checked it on my car and I think that it isn't a problem. The PHONEclip is made from a very strong material. So in stead of breaking, I expect it to work like a hinge and simply turn over the top of the steering wheel.
Proclip = Brodit
IMHO
for all my previous and recent smartphones I ever used Proclip holders in my car(s)
The Proclip platform is specific to each car model and the holder(s) are specific to each smartphone. I am using active holders with charging and I am very satisfied with it every time.
No excluding with my newest Samsung Galaxy Note too
I have the Samsung Car mount, and I am very disappointed.
It is a pain to insert the phone in the very tight clips, then you have to slide the usb connector into the phone, an exercise that takes two hands.
Further it does not accomodate even the very thin Samsung flip cover.
It forces the phone into car mode, which requires voice input - which does not work. - at least with my voice. I cannot call 'Nora' it will only find Laura - and I don't have a strong accent. It has no means of understanding what 'Home' means.
And now, after a month, it appears that contacts inside the car unit are flakey - the phone goes crazy when I plug it in.
So great phone, but they screwed up royally on the car mount.
So where can I get this Samsung Car Mount?
Mountek
Mountek has a universal car mount that sits in your CD slot for around $20.

Recommended car mount for SIII

If you're looking for a car mount specific to your SIII, I can recommend the ProclipUSA.com model 511398, which is a holder with Tilt Swivel. (Disclosure: I got a free review unit from ProclipUSA, for which I'm planning to write a full review.) True, the Proclip solution can be costly, especially if you don't already have a mount to connect it (I did), but if you do, the mount is secure, good looking, and custom fit for your phone. One more caveat: I'm not sure how well it would fit with any more external protection on your phone than a skin (I'm using the Skinomi, which causes no problems). {ProfJonathan}
I usually recommend the adjustable version for folks with cases. I still think they make the best looking mount out there.

Suggestions for Car Mount?

Hi there! I am looking for suggestions from the XDA forums for a car mount for the OnePlus One! You guys are pretty knowledgeable so I trust this being left in your hands
Even Universal mounts can be suggested, as there will be other family members using other phones(Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge or friends using iPhones).

http://www.amazon.com/Koomus-CD-Eco...Samsung/dp/B00JP0RTB4/ref=zg_bs_2407778011_19
I have the Koomus as well. It's major flaw is the part that pushes against the top of the CD slot may become loose as you remove the phone.
You can buy clones that attach to your vent or with VHB adhesive for as little as $4 from DX, aliexpress, etc.
http://www.brodit.com/productList.html?brand=OnePlus&model=One&pn=prod
you will need a car-specific hilder as well. its a little pricey but totally worth it (for me).
i have one of those for my Nexus 7 Tablet since some years, just works all fine
also used a specific holder for the Galaxy Nexus when I still owned the device.
cheers!
if you have a case, or if you are OK with removing your back cover and throwing a metal plate back there (this is what I did), this one works great!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HUIL310?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
you just have to tape down the metal plate. I placed mine back there and about a day later I started losing signal...the plate had fallen towards the bottom of the phone and must have been blocking some antennas or something. moved it up, taped it in place, and its been solid and working great since. I use this every day to and from work and anywhere else I go without it ever budging. its so nice not having to clip the phone in.
Search Xiaopimei on Amazon ! Amazing and very cheap !
Xiaopimei is great, I agree
I've been using the Brodit/Proclip (same thing) for about a year now, great stuff. I can highly recommend it
I've ordered
http://www.banggood.com/REMAX-RM-03-Mobile-Navigator-Car-Outlet-Bracket-p-982977.html
I heard its great, and its pretty cheap, and universal size phone can hook to it.

Remember to buy a Proclip for your specific car to mount on
My experience, over the last 7 years. I swear to always buy Herbert Richter (HR) mounts. (ebay or online German/UK stores)
Extremely durable plastic (don't want your phone to fall). Universal, also use the same mount on my bicycle, in other cars. Mine has now been in use for 5 years now (have 2). I use the universal one and I use the vent holder in the car. Doesn't block the view and in summer gets cooled down because the airco blows cold air on it. Also doesn't damage the phone and really holds it well.
Also very good experience with their customer support.
