Work in Progress
Please make sure you have backups for anything you don't want to lose.
Google apps are not official, this is a community hack, we have tested all apps but you could still encounter issues.
This is still a work in progress. we are working hard to tame 4.2.2, which brought significant changes and bugs.
Do not ask about CyanogenMod features. We will continue to add more features in version 3.x, when we have a 100% stable base.
Installation
Update your recovery to the latest version. Pre 4.2 recoveries can mess up your sd card/storage. We recommend TWRP.
Download pa google apps: http://d-h.st/Do8 Updated 15-JUL-2013
Download rom: http://d-h.st/AnC Updated 18-JUL-2013
Follow PA on Google+ for changes and other info
Perform a factory reset in recovery, unless you are already on PA 2.99+
Flash ROM first, then gapps
Wipe dalvik & cache
Reboot and wait, first bootup can take up to 5 minutes, it will also restart once
Enter your Google account info, press home when you encounter the black screen
After the quirky bootup is over, the rom should work normally
Do not restore system apps, system data and Google apps. This can cause bootloops and other problems due to mismatches from CM to AOSP and Android version 4.1.2 to 4.2
Previous jellybean versions: toro
Features
Hybrid engine ported, Per App DPI and Per App Layout
Tablet UI back from the dead
Per app color
Quicksettings -> Quicktoggles (first draft, more to follow)
New recents implementation
We fixed the aosp lag in the recents view, well, most of it
New SystemUI Icons that can cope with transparent bars, thanks go to John Xionidis
See through Lockscreen is back
Transparent bars + Launcher2 modified to cope with it
4.2 Walls and Sounds
Google stock apps
Extended Desktop
PER-APP-DPI/LAYOUT
This is not tablet mode! Hybrid engine allows you to target apps individually. You get to pick their actual layouts which can tranform content drastically. Keep in mind, this has nothing to do with build.prop hacks or DPI changes. We list all layouts an app brings, you choose one, its as easy as that. It does not matter if your device runs itself in Phone-, Phablet or Tablet-UI, your apps will always look as you like. On top of that you can scale apps, to fit your screen, that way you can even bring full fledged tablet apps and make them run perfectly. Nothing will break, nothing will shrink, your market will be fine. Additionally we have rewritten many parts of the android framework and fixed countless of AOSP bugs to make way for these modifications - our "tablet mode" runs better on a phone than on a real tablet, that is guaranteed.
PER-APP-COLOR
ParanoidAndroid's newest invention. Define apps in your regular hybrid panel. See your phone fade into the color definition of your current app, press home or go elsewhere and it fades back. Create as many combinations you like, you can even dabble with opacity. This feature is made possible by our hybrid engine, which is unique to this rom.

New option: "large" to trick an app thinking the device has a real big screen. some need it, like amazon kindle to jump into tabUI. some even react on it, gdrive will slightly adapt its layout - makes only sense if you give it a small dpi though.
The algorithm to extract the actual layout containers from apk files works more precise and can reveal more than before. there will still be a few apps left who do that layout stuff in java - we will add an override button for that, but in the meantime you can edit /system/etc/paranoid/properties.conf .layout=360 for phone-like UI, 600 for phablet, 720 = tablet, 1280 = super huge tablet

Flashed and rocking. Franco ocd at 1534 and performance governor, quadrant score at 3500 which is what I was getting on 1.2 linaro. Will compare when 1.3 linaro drops.

Awesome. I've only been on this ROM for 1 day (since the release of 1.2), but I've been following it for a week or so. So far, I'm quite impressed, and definitely love the tablet functionality.
Thanks to Moles for all his hard work on this, and thanks to jaybob for bringing it to us CDMA folks.

This is for the VZW Galaxy Nexus. I believe there is a different build for the Sprint Galaxy Nexus (which is also CDMA).
As of right now, no fix should be needed for 1.3. 1.2 only had a (simple) fix because the default DPI was set incorrectly.

 Installation:
1: Make a backup! (never hurts, ever)
2: Either wipe everything manually, or flash the ROM directly. SuperWipe is already integrated into the install zip (SuperWipe thread LINK)
3: Flash the ROM
4: Reboot and WAIT....
IF YOU HAVE BOOTUP ISSUES
Flash the JellyBean bootloader from above.
Theres a very high chance that alone will solve your bootup issue!
Recommendations:
When you reboot for the first time after flashing the ROM, it may take anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes to boot up. Dont be alarmed! Just wait patiently. All my testers have been successful in booting this up, even though their bootup times varied quite a bit. Just let it sit.
Also, when you get into the ROM, and get stuff set up, let it SETTLE for a bit. Scripts have to run, and things need to install. It will be choppy at first, but a few minutes of use will smooth is out. After that, even after a reboot, it will be smooth right from boot up!

Its been a while since I've used a stock rom.
However, we probably don't have as many customisable items as roms such as AOKP or CM, there is only a few of us that work on this rom afterall.
reserved for me
Menu?
One of the features I have appreciated from other AOSP-AOKP-CM9 Roms recently is the abliity to set the MENU icon(Soft Keys) so that there are four soft keys in the navigation - I tried to figure out how to make that happen with the EOS settings on this ROM and unfortunately I am either blind and can't see it or it doesn't currently exist.
Is this in the plan moving forward or will this not be something we can do?
Having said that - it seems like a great rom - very smooth - snappy - nice work!
One other quick question - the ROM Calls for downloading GAPS - 4-22-2012 - but there is a more recent version - 4-29-12 - is there some reason why you wanted us to flash that GAPPS versus the more recent one?

Is the compass working correctly? I already use EOS on my Xoom so I may as well run it on my Nexus .

before i flash, does this rom allow you to use the default slide unlock as well as a pattern/pin unlock simultaneously?
On stock its one or the other. so u lose your camera shortcut for the pattern/pin unlock.

Its straight aosp unmodified. As there are highly talented kernel devs in the gnex scene, the kernel is not a focus of our development. Personally I use Franco kernel with his paid market app.
I've done the touchstone mod and I'm having trouble charging from the pogo pin circuit. If I connect a USB cable to charge then power up the touchstone then remove the USB, it will charge from the touchstone. If I simply power up the touchstone charger it will only charge of the phone is off. It feels like a software problem. Any ideas?
Make sure to grab the latest nightly. Almost all linaro optimizations are implemented and its fast as hell. Camera and Netflix are fixed as well. We're still looking at string aliasing optimizations but its breaking prop libs atm. Let me know if anybody finds broken apps. Oh and please benchmark against some of the other crappy roms floating around.
What's the latest nightly 23?

Settings cleanup, most of the garbage dpi options are gone, should be more intuitive - i ask you to not bring your old pad.props though some things changed. if you know what you do take a look and edit by hand
Trashed our LatinIME repo - not needed anymore

You know what annoys me about this ROM? All the customizability! I am spending a lot of time getting everything where I like it and I love it. Noticed on other ROMs that allow me to hide the nav buttons that most games would screw up their orientation when I did hide the nav buttons so it was largely an unusable feature. But not on Paranoid! Really nice to play Max Payne is FULL full screen And again, thanks for sticking with the CM kernel.
EDIT: Only feature I yearn for is the ability to disable lock screen rotation.
Nice, getting this now. This is a great rom.

Hybrid.
Anyone know how to scale the lock screen? A couple of my shortcuts are cut off at the bottom. Its not a huge deal, only cosmetic but I'd like to get it right if I could.
Edit...
Nevermind, I figured it out. I just needed to adjust the framework dpi.

PER-APP-DPI/LAYOUT This is not tablet mode!
PER-APP-COLOR Paranoidandroids newest invention. Define apps in your regular hybrid panel. See your phone fade into the color definition of your current app, press home or go elsewhere and it fades back. Create as many combinations you like, you can even dabble with opacity. This feature is made possible by our hybrid engine, which is unique to this rom.
To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

Sorry I've been gone for so long. Life's been pretty crazy lately. I've got an unofficial build that gives you options for Phone, Phablet, or Tablet UI (or Stock, which is just the default mode - Tablet UI for the Nexus 10). It's still uploading right now, but you can pull it down from either of these sites:
Goo.im - http://goo.im/devs/wizard0f0s/ChaOS/manta
Wizbb - http://wizbb.oconeemed.org/~wizard0f0s/ChameleonOS_Unofficial_Builds/manta/
I'd prefer you download from Goo.im as they track downloads, but if they're really slow again you can download from Wizbb.
I'm still working on it, so let me know what you think.

Wizard0f0s, enjoyed your MIUI ROMs for the DroidX back in the day!
I have a couple questions, didn't find the answers on your site.
Can you use other kernels?
Also, does this ROM have any optimizations like linaro?
is there any difference between this one and the official release on the ChaOS website? I think they are probably the same but would just like to be sure.
Thanks

Thanks! I miss those days sometimes. Working with source is so much better than smali though!
Yep, any kernel that works with cm10.1 should work here as well.
No linaro optimizations or anything along those lines. I haven't gotten around to playing with linaro yet. It isn't out of the question for the future though.

The only difference between the versions I post to goo.im and the official version is timing. In a little more detail, the build script I run automatically uploads to goo. So as I test out new features they'll show in my goo builds before they show up in the official (since I haven't pushed them and approved them yet for the official build). It also means that any time you grab one from goo it is a true experimental build (I may not have even flashed it yet myself).
With the current version, I'm working on extending the Tablet mode 0xD34D added by adding Phone and Phablet modes. The basic switch works now, but I'm cleaning up a few things and adding things for other devices (I maintain the d2vzw, manta, and encore and am working on getting the tf201 and the tf700t running).

I'm working on getting 4.3 solid and moved in as the official version. If anyone would like to test it out and give some feedback, you can download it from here - http://goo.im/devs/wizard0f0s/ChaOS/manta (the cos-0.8_4.3-*.zip files are the 4.3 versions). The current one is 20130927. I've been running it safely on my manta. It also has the new notification feature.
If you do get a 4.3, don't forget to use the 4.3 gapps. You can download them here - http://tinyw.in/UVAP

Sorry, I totally forgot to mention that bug! Yeah, we're working to fix that. You can actually make it happen on phones too (then it's a _really_ tiny screen). Until we get a true fix in, there are a couple of ways I've found that fix it. Keep it in landscape (like you have it) and change it to tablet UI. This should actually show up properly. Then change it back to Phablet UI and it should switch properly. If it doesn't (or if Tablet UI doesn't change properly either), set it to Phablet UI and reboot. Be sure to keep it in landscape orientation while it reboots as well. When it comes up it should be good.
If neither of those work, let me know that too.
