Eta on next Nexus phone? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Anyone have ideas as to when it will cone out? The nexus came out around November and remember that another nexus came out in January. Any thoughts as to when the next nexus should come out? I'm interested in a GSM version. After using nexus I have lost all interest if going to other phones since I want to have the latest OS

What nexus came out in Jan 2012?
Sent from my Sensation using Tapatalk 2

Nexus One - Jan 2010
Nexus S - December 2010
Galaxy Nexus - November 2011
Based on that logic, (11 months) the next nexus phone should be released in October 2012.

Yep there will be another one in the fall, however as rumors suggest, they may very well release more than one(from different oems and for different price-ranges).
Also with a nexus 7" tablet due this month.
So Google is making moving the nexus brand from being a "made by Google" brand to become kind of a Google certification(these devices run stock android and will receive timely updates)

Sorry to be a big'ol noob here, but what's an ETA. And I've been in this root thing for months now lol.

I never said 2012 I was just throwing out month in non-chronological order.

No ETAs - I just got my Nexus and because of both the official updates and community support I don't really plan on upgrading until the Key Lime Pie Nexus comes out.
No doubt it's gonna have a quad core but what would something that powerful be used for? I was perfectly fine with my Snapdragon CPU until I bricked it. The only use I can think of for four cores is console quality gaming (Nvidia Tegra) and full desktop OS (Ubuntu Mobile).
I've been observing how some upgrade their phones every three months and there are lots of people I know that still have the SGS 4G instead of the SGS2 because it still does what they need. I'm well aware that Samsung is very different from Google but for the CDMA Nexus models it's interesting to see how that compares between the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S.
I guess the main point is it really necessary to upgrade for every new device that comes out? We'd all look like those idiots that camp outside the Apple store for those non innovative phones.

Super Nexus X Galaxy Drive Speculamaster IV - TBD/TBA
Things to check prior to posting threads like this:
1. History of previously released devices.
2. History of official news releases.
3. Whether there is any current official news. Rumors and speculation don't count, which is all we ever have with phones like this or the iPhone. This kind of nonsense is just that: nonsense, and it does nothing but fill up news feeds (which are mostly just blogs these days) with useless non-information.
4. All the other threads posted just like this.

November 2012.
Expect the rumors to start flying in around August-September.

Will this phone still be worth getting come November?

I'm due for an upgrade in the near future but unfortunately the Galaxy Nexus has already been around for a while. I don't want to end up with another Dinc situation where I get mine a year late, all the good devs leave and we have little support left.
So do you think (Opinions here people) this phone will still be worth getting when I upgrade or should I go with the next big thing?
A new nexus should be coming out by the end of the year, so my answer would be no.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Depends on the price. This phone is still a nexus and will get the next Android version. The specs for the GN are more than sufficient over the long haul.
Last years nexus has a more up to date version than my current Nexus.

Yeah we will be impatiently awaiting the next nexus. But on the other hand this is a good phone and will serve a lot of people well for a 2 + year life span.

I had my Nexus in hand by November last year so I'd say no do not buy the current one.

If you can afford better then there will be better available by November... in fact there will be better available in a few weeks time when the galaxy s3 comes out.. you won't have to wait until November to find something better than the gnex
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Last Nov, the Nexus S was still around $400 on Amazon (still same price even today ). Hardware wise, this GN will be in better shape comes this Nov than the Nexus S was last Nov.
When the new Nexus comes out, it'll be in $650-700 range again (unless Google decides then to also sell the new Nexus at $399), so this current one at $400 is still a great deal.
Come November I would get the new Nexus.
As others have said... we'll see the next Nexus device in November. Galaxy Nexus will be cheap and still good (enough) though.
The phone will be a year old. Wait for a more recent release.
I think Google needs to stick with imagination technologies gpu's. For lots of reasons, including an apple one.

This phone will be fine by November. Plus, if rumors are correct we won't see a Nexus phone this year, but rather the Nexus tablet. Jelly Bean is said to have "game changing tablet optimizations".

One chance.. Gs3 or galaxy nexus??

Hi.. Just got my replacment galaxy nexus maybe 2 weeks ago and im thinking "should i get the galaxy s 3.. It will cost me and extra 50euro if i want to bring my galaxy nexus back to the shop and swap for the gs3. So if you were in my shoes would you do it or? Please leave your comment on what you think

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
For only 50 eurons on top? Yeah, I'd personally go for it.
Hell of an upgrade for that money.
The only reason I would do that - for the better battery time. S3 has a bigger battery and specs are promising a long battery time.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I can only give you the same advice I would give anyone when it comes to choosing a personal device, ROM, kernel, or just about anything for that matter.
Try both, see what fits you best. If you personally like the GS3 better, go for it. If you don't, don't. Do what makes you happy and not what makes others happy.

Galaxy Nexus (GSM) = Android updates as soon as they're available. These updates include new stock Android features, security updates, kernel updates, driver updates, radio updates, etc. Essentially, updates to everything that runs the phone.
Everything else = anywhere from 2-18 months, or never.
Wikipedia, I know: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history#Ice_Cream_Sandwich_4.0.x
Otherwise, to the OP, my previous recommendation still stands. Which device is best for you is something only you can decide, not someone else.

I love my GNEX. But if I had a chance to swap for an S3 and pay $100 on top, I would.
Hardware is better, community will be big, and the phone is much smoother and overall a lot faster in every way that I can think of.
We Canadians will be getting the 2GB RAM version in a couple weeks. I jumping on it as soon as it comes out.
And I will be keeping the GNEX since it is a very good phone still, even by the end of the year, it will still be a very good phone.

Because there hasn't been any yet. You're using a technicality. When Google finishes the next major update, it will be first on nexus phones. Besides nexus isn't about fast updates, its about having fully open kernel and rom code. That's the point. You'll never get code for touchwiz or sense framework.

4.0.1
4.0.2
4.0.3
4.0.4
And every update for the foreseeable future. Just because there haven't been any MAJOR updates (AKA, Jelly Bean or w/e it will end up being) doesn't mean it hasn't gotten every single Android update before every non-Nexus device on the market. It hasn't gotten that update yet because that update doesn't exist yet. Even so, it will get that update at least 2-∞ months before anything else, except perhaps the Nexus S or the next Nexus device(s). Most Android phones that are coming out with 4.0 are coming out with 4.0.2 or 4.0.3; and although the updates since 4.0.1 have been small, there have been several bug fixes and new small features in every update since. Take, for example, 2.3.4 which enabled video chat on Google Voice. If you didn't (or still don't) have 2.3.4 or newer, you couldn't use it. It just didn't exist as far as your phone was concerned. 4.0.3 made several improvements to ICS in general, including but not limited to graphics improvements, new APIs, new and improved camera functions, bug fixes and accessibility improvements. Not to mention that the updates and Android itself are built with this phone as the hardware reference point and more or less designed from the ground up with this phone in mind. Android 4.0.1 was released October 19, 2011 and it still only makes up 7% of Android handsets 8 months later. If Google continues releasing major Android updates in November/December, that means there are only 5-6 months left for ICS to be current, and it's easily possible we'll see more updates until then that will never appear on other phones.
Take the T-Mobile Galaxy S II for example. That phone was released 12 October 2011, a week before 4.0.1 was released. It received an update from 2.3.5 (released July 25, 2011) to 2.3.6 (released September 2, 2011) just a week or so ago. It will be finally receiving 4.0.x (IIRC the worldwide version currently has 4.0.3, which it received March 13, 3 months after the Nexus) on June 11th according to the press releases the past few days. This is actually one of the better examples of a non-Nexus device getting an update.
This whole 'argument' is ridiculous and is either trolling or an attempt to derail the thread or both. Or not, it's hard to tell sometimes. Either way, it will always be the phone that makes you happiest that is best for you. I'm done.
for another 50 Euro, go for it GS3 is way better than GNexus

Probably gonna happen. But no one knows. I'd be surprised if they let a year go by without updating the reference Nexus hardware.
There's rumours that you will see 5 nexus devices this year.
Whispers are saying that different manufacturers will all release a nexus device at the same time...
Don't how true it is mind.
Personally i think either Samsung or Motorola will release the next version on their own as always, but time will tell.
That's what i read.
It will probably be around 600-700 at launch.
Not sure of I want to pay that much. The Galaxy Nexus looks really good right now though.
So of they do release a Nexus phone it will only be hardware and no software since they jusy released JB.
We'll see what happens though.
I am just trying to figure out wether to buy a Nexus now or wait for the next one.

Hopefully its to announce an HTC Nexus to go with the LG.
I really hope for a new nexus device at this event but
I feel like there isn't going to be one because
the invitation says "The playground is open"
I think this will most likely be all about update to maybe 4.2 and stuff related to the play store.
More software and little to no hardware.
I know there are lots of leaks of new nexus devices but
this is just my personal opinion.
Anyways, can't wait for this event to happen!
Just announce the already well known Nexus 4 and then a Nexus 5.
and kill off all these rumors already.

Quad cores don't need any maturing. The s4 pro uses the same CPU cores as the s4 ( dual core). The big improvement is on the GPU side. The pro has a next gen gpu while the regular had a aging GPU because the new one was not ready
People get caught up on the dual vs quad all the time. As well clock speeds. Unless you're comparing chips of the same family they are basically useless
I'd rather have an A15 dualcore instead of an A9 quadcore.
Then you would be waiting until sometime in 2013 unfortunately.

First off, thats a render. Something anyone can do in Photoshop. So dont get too excited. Second, that may not be a "Nexus" device. Google bought Motorola a while ago and was rumored to be making a phone with them. It May or may not be the next nexus. Bottom line, no one knows what will be announced at Google I/O. So no one here can actually advise you on wether to wait or not.
