[TUT] How to get Aircrack working with Alpha awus036h Wifi Card Tf300t! - Transformer TF300T Android Development

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvUE7lP5WME&sns=em
Okay everyone! Here is a tutorial on how to get Aircrack tools working with your Android TF300T! This gets your Alpha Card working with all the drivers in android so you can use it in Backtrack!
CREDITS: I do not take credit for the drivers I simply put all the information together.
Requirements :
Rooted Device
4 GB Free Space
USB Port or for a Phone an Adapter that can provide power like a HUB
An Alpha awus036h wifi adapter
Android 4.0 or higher that supports USB Host Mode
A brain!! :yeye:
Required Downloads:
Backtrack 5 installer APP - IN Files.zip
RootFileExplorer - IN Files.zip
Required Drivers
Terminal App - IN Files.zip
Android VNC - IN Fiiles.zip
Modules App - IN Files.zip
Required Files.zip - https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/share/GY4I6766V4
First install all apps.
Follow the guide in Backtrack 5 installer APP to set up your BT5 install.
Next boot up backtrack and compile and install Aircrack!
In a backtrack terminal issue the following commands to install Aircrack:
http://pastebin.com/tPM8Qshp
Once complete stay in the terminal and get wicd manager
apt-get install wicd
Now that is done download the Alpha drivers and extract them to your system
/lib/modules folder.
Drivers: https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navigate/share/GY4JP966V4
Next TURN OFF YOUR WIFI
The drivers conflict with the internal wifi. You need to reboot to gain your normal wifi again!
Open the Modules app and open the system tab and select the 3 drives your extracted and save them!
eeprom_93cx6.ko, mac80211.ko, rtl8187.ko
Make sure to go to the settings in the Modules App and un-check load at boot!
Now connect your Alpha Wifi card and open up your backtrack terminal and type:
/etc/init.d/dbus start; /etc/init.d/wicd start
Then Type
ifconfig wlan0 up
Put your card in monitor mode: airmon-ng start wlan0
Thats it!
Just start using aircrack or download reaver and your set!
If you want to use reaver just download it in your bt5: http://code.google.com/p/reaver-wps/downloads/list
Here is a good reaver tut: http://www.hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=2079678
I know this is a fairly basic tutorial but I am a very busy guy these days!! I hope you get this working!

This is absolutely fantastic, will try this later on during the day. Thank You!

Its really straight forward. Just follow the onscreen instructions as best as possible. Make sure you downloaded the script during the instructions. Also make sure the files are all extracted to a folder on your sdcard named backtrack

It is a command line tool which lets you *cough* *cough* test the security of your own or other people's networks. Basically if aircrack is able to discover the password on your network in a relatively short amount of time (a couple of hours) you or whoever's network it is needs to boost their security.

You should be able to use this method to install drivers from other wireless cards... HOWEVER, you need to go to backtrack's website (google it), and check the wiki to make sure your wireless card is capable of "injection"

I'm pretty sure mine is. Has the following chipset, discovered when I use a pc with backtrack: ASUSTek Computer, Inc. RT2573 - using the mac80211 rt2500usb/rt73usb drivers
Its one of the ones listed. Don't I need to compile the .ko modules for ARM? If so, how do I do this and where do I find them?

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INTEL MAC & LINUX:
Note: Mac and Linux users may be prompted to enter administrative password, as adb server requires sudo permissions to start.
No drivers required.
Extract the zip file.
Put the run.sh inside the directory you just extracted.
Open Terminal. Use the cd command to get to the directory. If you extracted inside the Downloads folder, it would be easy in Terminal as so:
Code:
cd ~/Downloads/epic.aio.v2.01
Now give permissions and run it:
Code:
chmod +x run.sh
./run.sh

Wow, thanks! Downloading now and gonna install immediately!

Sweet, grabbing now.

It works, but its pretty rough. The screen flickers, and sometimes the navigation is kinda iffy. But backup/restore works and you can flash .zips.. and that's whats important. This should get polished in the next week or so
How did you guys get it to work? Whenever I run that run.bat, it gives me a massive list of "ping is not a recongized command" and "Tab is not a recognized command" and finally ends up doing nothing
I moved the extracted directory to the root of my drive, and it actually made a bit of a difference, as the batch file went a bit further. But still, it ended up doing nothing...
Any ideas?

YES Thanks to all that helped!! This would have saved me a couple days ago. Good to know that its available now.
It does flicker when you scroll the options, but at least it works!

If you don't know how to run a batch file in Windows, then you might want to consider switching to a Mac
Noobnl has packaged this into a one-click method... you just extract the folder into your /android-sdk-windows/tools folder and double click run.bat while your phone is connected to USB with USB debugging enabled.
If you still can't figure it out, then you should just give up pal

Can some post a clean nandroid backup?
Thank you for your efforts!
I am a noob in flashing or compiling custom roms though (locked bootloader on my only other android device, the Motorola Milestone).
I have read that this allows us to inject a nandroid backup into the rom, but would like to know more. What are the benefits of this recovery? What can it be used for? Can i for example flash a stock android build onto my Tab?
Thanks in advance for some helpful, non flamer answers...

CRT Screen Off Mod

Here is an interesting article that will help you if you want CRT screen Off animation like in Nexus S:
http://www.freeyourandroid.com/guide/enable-crt-animation
Worked with no problems on my SGC with Rogers ROM.
I actually used NinjaMorph to package the modified resources.arsc into framework-res.apk, but I assume the original method will work too.

Probably no. Most likely you will end up with phone freezing on the Samsung logo at boot. framework-res.apk files are not interchangeable between models, maybe not even between firmware versions for the same phone.
Can you post a step by step guide then? I can't really understand anything here
The step-by-step instructions from the link in the first post are pretty much what i did. Read the comment by ravenstark - if you mount the filesystem with root explorer there will be no need to execute the commands in red in section 8.
The instructions from the link in your post cover steps 3-7. You still have to download the file to your PC (1), decompile it (2) and upload it back to the phone once you are done with it (8).
For the first step which terminal do you use??
(Free Your Android guide)
adb. If you don't have you can download it from here. It is part of the SDK and probably the most essential tool.
The command is exactly as written there

What do you mean? If you're using a Windows PC, then just open up a cmd prompt. You should read the guides at the beginning of that page so you know how to setup adb and the apk tool.
The big picture is this. Connect your pc to computer, pull file from phone to PC using adb, modify file on PC, push file back to phone using adb.
For what it's worth, here's a thread I wrote quite a long time ago, some is not applicable for the Glide, but most of it still applies. If you're going to be mucking around in your phone it's best to know how to do a few things first. Read Before Flashing.
When I try and open SDK or AVD (what's the difference :| ) then I just get a quick terminal screen that closes.
It would be appreciated if someone could just create a flashable CWM version >_<
I hate my inexperience @ this. It keeps saying this isn't "adb" isn't recognized, but I've downloaded it! How can I check?!

Ok, so what have you done so far?
What should be done. Assuming you're using Windows, install the Android SDK. Once installed, launch the SDK Manager. Then from the list of installable options, choose the Platform Tools and I always like to get the drivers. Once done, you will have this path, CrogramFiles(x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools, now you could add this path to your variables in Windows, which would be easiest, or copy the Platform-tools folder to C:. Then plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
Now, if you added the Path to your variables, just go Start>Run>cmd, and at the cmd prompt type adb devices. If you see a device you're good.
If you copied the Platform-tools folder over, then Start>Run>cmd, and in the cmd prompt type,
C:
then
cd platform-tools
then
adb devices
Beyond that, can't really help, never use apk tool. Good luck.

Attached to this post is a CWM update with CRT Screen OFF and battery icon with percent for ROGERS ROM. I'm not sure this will work on AT&T ROM.
Make a backup before applying this update so you can restore if you end up stuck on SAMSUNG logo on boot.
Apologies to the author of the battery mod - I couldn't find his post to link to here...

Hopefully the file tcfx44 posted works for you. Either way, I highly suggest you learn how to use adb and some other tools if you plan on flashing your phone in the future. It could prove useful some day.
Will this apply over OsiMood? I really am not sure if I am using the Rogers, but apparently I am because in XDA App it says I927-R and same with a benchmark.
Doesn't work for OsI mood 2.1.30 or whatever version was released today. I don't want to give up the amazing UI and stuff of OSi. I'm working fine though, so doesn't look like the install failed or bricked. Any revisions?

[root] win and lin root

Because I didn't really like all the useless code in the windows root method, I decided to clean up that batch file a bit as well as convert the whole process to linux (not sure if it's out here, I remember seeing a linux rooting thread but kill me if I can't find it right now) and remove leftover files from the /stuff directory (they're not really needed, just methods for other devices based on the original root method
Anyway, on the Windows script side, I cleaned up the code, removed the korean text and rewrote what echos because I believe the lines that were there were simply not telling what the user what the script was doing. (installing vs pushing, there IS a difference).
On the linux side, I tore the script from the windows root, and modded it out to work on most linux systems (you need sudo for it to work right, and it helps if you have adb preinstalled in your path, but the way I wrote it it should detect if you have adb running and skip the startup of the version I provided)
As always, with the windows root method, make sure you have the drivers (i tried to download but keep getting 'access denied', you may have to search for these in other places, or maybe it's just not liking that I'm on linux) and try running as admin first, if that fails, run normally, and with BOTH methods, turn on 'unknown sources' and 'usb debugging'.
Other than that, if you have any issues with this, (other than forgetting to chmod +x RootOptimusG.sh ) let me know below!

Newroot for Z1 & Z1C

Hi, since somebody requested my newroot tool. here is it, enjoy! Tool will root your phone and install cwm recovery, busybox, su, superuser, allso you can unroot at least

5: A pop-up will come up on your phone. Allow it
6: Let it do its thing
7: It will reboot and you're rooted
8: Enjoy
How to install (Linux users):
0. First of all you need adb for Linux, I not gona explain where you can download adb for Linux since you need to search XDA and found them byself, everybody know about adb and I not going to explain adb basic things, you need to help byself on that since adb you will need in future for sure
1: Download newroot and put to the same folder with adb binary

Newroot work with all kitkat firmwares but doesn't work with latest kitkat *after 108) .133, .157... firmware or with old JB firmwares!!!
If your running later kernels from out of 108 and newer firmware that you can achieve root following these steps:
1. download the .108 firmware or kernel only
2. flash only the .108 kernel using flashtool
3. Use newroot
4. Reflash back your newer kernel using flashtool

Thanks a lot! It works!
Nobody mention models or what kind of rom does this program root why? is very funny no real data, any one with solid comments about models and rom versions?
Sorry if I'm rude but I think we need some info like what firmware version works with this root or any prerequisite should we have before rooting like bootloader being unlocked etc. Also a simple tutorial would be nice for newbies to avoid confusion. Ill test this out on the latest firmware [.108] on an unlocked bootloader and I will report if this is working.
Its booth for locked on unlocked bootloaders but for no already rooted devices (except rooted by our tool), its tested on last 3 android versions. There is 2 things, it can work or not work, you can try in jellybean and let me know (probaly not working). No more words here since tool is very easy and anybody know what to do with them Enjoy if you found them usefull and easy! Anybody can post detail installation here if allready used my aplication, I am lazy sory!
So I just tested it out and it works. So I figured out, why not just make a tutorial video since it's so simple. Here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06S9GUL9U5s
I enabled USB Debugging and Unknown Sources just to be sure.
No need unknown source since usb debuging is enought! Is not easy? I think very easy Did you tried my recovery after rooting, I just want to know how its working on z1, (you need to press volume button after blue led blink to enter into recovery)
It's really easy to root now. Just 1 click. CWM works too. Here's more proof that it works. Good work man

why you need dev host? mega is not really good but it's ok with small file like this

Spotify Unlimited Skips [ROOT or ADB]

Hello, XDA! Today, I'll be showing you how to get unlimited skips/song select in Spotify on the OnePlus 5.
Code:
/*
If you are rooted or you have adb enabled and installed
on your computer, skip to the bold section of this post.
If you don't have this done or you don't know how to
do this, read the whole post.
*/
This will require root (root guide for OnePlus 5 here, I recommend using Magisk and not SuperSU.) or ADB.
To enable ADB, just scroll down in Settings to About phone, scroll all the way to the bottom and press Build Number 7 times; this will activate Developer Mode. Go back to the main page in Settings, Developer Mode is near the bottom. From Developer options, you can activate USB debugging (which is ADB). You can download Android SDK Platform-Tools from here. Extract the .zip, go into the folder named platform-tools, and open CMD or Terminal (CMD for Windows, Terminal for Mac/Linux) and drag ADB into the CMD/Terminal to run ADB.
Code:
adb shell
would be
Code:
(drag adb file here) shell
but would show up as something like
Code:
/Users/username/Downloads/platform-tools/adb shell
Once you have rooted or enabled ADB, you can download a new app called jOnePlus Tools [adb/root] from the Play Store. jOnePlus is a modding application for the OxygenOS 4.5.x.
When you open jOnePlus Tools, it will ask for SuperUser Rights (if you are rooted). Select Grant to allow it to 'change' the system. It will then bring up a message that says Permission Denied and it will tell you to grant WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS by running
Code:
adb shell pm grant net.jroot3d.joneplustools android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
over USB. You can either connect your phone to your computer over USB and enable USB Debugging and run
Code:
adb shell pm grant net.jroot3d.joneplustools android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
on the computer. If you are rooted, you can skip the whole ADB step; just press GRANT WITH ROOT.
Once you've enabled permissions with adb or root, press the gear icon near the top right, press General, and then Enable experimental features. Go back to the main screen of jOnePlus Tools and press the square-circle shape near the top-middle of the screen. Scroll to the bottom and press 4k (2160x3840). It will lag a bit for about 20 seconds at most. Close Spotify if open. Now launch Spotify. (If your home screen appears to be messed up or corrupted, DON'T FRET! It may be confused because your device is telling it a different resolution. This is temporary.) If you can't click on home screen icons correctly, you can hold the home button to launch Google Assistant and say Open Spotify. When you launch Spotify, it should allow you to have unlimited skips/song select. This is because your Spotify sees your screen size as 2160x3840, a tablet size. The tablet version of Spotify has unlimited song select and skips. Spotify only checks your screen size when it launches, so you can go back to jOnePlus Tools and put you resolution back at Full HD (1080x1920) Default. If you close Spotify, you may need to change your resolution back to 4k again before launching if you want unlimited skips/select (and then back to Full HD Default after launching).

Thanks, but an easier solution is to directly install "spotify dogfood" : see dedicated xda thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-spotify-dogfood-ad-free-spotify-t3632423
edit :
This mod works without root, it's just a simple apk to install
edit : they even have their own updater for the spotify dogfood moded app :
download it, install it and then you can have spotify dogfood always up to date.
*Note* You need to unistall any previous spotify version before installed the moded spotify

Is there any way to use Spotify in countries where it's not available without VPN ? I'm rooted if it helps

Pretty much yeah, you need a VPN only to register an account (and pay for the premium package).

You don't have to get premium, just register the account with a VPN and every month log in to that account from an IP where Spotify is available (it resets the 30day limit for free users)

Yes it is regularly updated, it even has its own updater app on the GitHub page. It also has adblocking in it.
