[ROM][CM9][Marvelc] CM9 release for the Marvelc (nightly) - HTC Wildfire S

I have compiled CM9 for the wildfires CDMA and have got it to boot. There is still alot wrong with it but this is taking over the CM7 project i was doing before this. I may go back and get CM7 stable when this is done though, just because I hate leaving things unfinished.
Anyways, so far I have used alot of modpunks folders and kernel and modified them to work with the cdma version of the wildfire s. Its still being worked on heavily however. If you would like to compile the rom, instructions below follow. Of course you will need to have the environment already ready to compile roms.
::::NEW::::
I set out to fix wifi, And in turn I actually fixed a lot of things. Enough that I classify it as a beta, so seeing as that. Download link is below. Please, only report logcats or unknown problems. Thanks
Code:
mkdir ~/cm9
cd ~/cm9
repo init -u git://github.com/simonsimons34/android.git -b ics
repo sync -j12
. build/envsetup.sh
lunch 5
make -j2 bacon
Note this rom doesnt function well but does boot. If you'd like proof a precompiled rom is located here in this folder. I will make them whenever i build a change, and send them off to my testers.

For all Roms please post bugreports here. Dont duplicate them if on is already open. also please use the logcat and please pastebin it. explain how to recreate the problem, as well. Thanks. Without this the rom will never get better

unless I got some rotten downloads, neither one of those zips flash. (error 7)

That error 7 would be the recovery your using. I think i can say its not cwm official for cdma, yes?

works fine here when I tested it no mobile data wifi (maybe blue tooth) and no camera I'll test more tomorrow with logcats of everything

Why don't you just send me patches so we have just one tree instead of forking? Forking should normally only be the last option. There is a reason why the Liberty and Marvel have a common kernel tree. Less work and everyone gets the fixes.

I just couldn't figure out how to send you anything because of your choice of git sites. All my work is wide open on github so feel free

I had issues as well. I flashed clockwork mod through rom manager and then I was finally able to flash the rom.

All I get is freezes and restarts, no matter how I try to flash with this official. It's quite ironic really. Something that will FINALLY get me to shut up, and I can't flash it....

Yeah I used to get a lot of freezes and restarts when I was a noob and did not know what I was doing wrong with the flashing until I figured out it was my recovery. My phone (CDMA) doesn't like CWM version 5.0.2.6 or 5.0.2.8 or whatever those versions are. I am using 4.0.1.5 and things flash fine without restart. I have not tried this ROM and will try it later when I get more time but if it's random restarts during flashing and backups, then change your CWM to version 4.
Hope this helps. If it doesn't, sorry that I misunderstood your problem.
---------- Post added at 05:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:01 AM ----------
One more thing while I'm on this thread, does the phone get recognized as an Android phone under this ROM? I know with Sense 3.5, it didn't and so I could not install Swype Beta and I can't live without swype on this small phone. Thanks to whoever answers this.

Rename the zip file. I've had this with twrp before and shoving a few _s on the end in front of the .zip seemed to work.
If that doesn't work I would normally rebuild but in your case you would re download so try that.

[DEV] Samsung Galaxy W/Samsung Exhibit 2 4G Development

Okay so that we have a development topic (due to lack of a forum) for both phones which are basically the same.
What's going on the Galaxy W side:
Arco68 is porting CM9 to the phone
KezraPlanes is trying to port CM7 to the phone and making a custom stock ROM.
What's going on the Exhibit 2 side:
**placeholder text**
Try to keep general discussion to this topic I will post:
This will be a development topic.
So I was finally able to solve my issues with downloading the CM7 sources. Apparently it was in issue with the manifest.xml file which can be easily solved by doing this:
Add this in the beginning of the file where all the other equal references are:
<remote name="github-https"
fetch="https://github.com/"
review="review.cyanogenmod.com" />
Click to collapse
And replace the original line near the end of the file with this:
<project path="prebuilt" name="CyanogenMod/android_prebuilt" remote="github-https" />
Click to collapse
This fixes the download sources issue.
So r u gonna help us w/ cm9 an recovery

I'm not sure what issue you are referring to or what file ?
I have trouble with their instruction on the "building kernel from sources page"
repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b gingerbread
repo sync -j8
is not working for me.
Do you suggest to modify the repo file or is that another procedure you are talking about ?

dswaggz was referring to this thread for the Exhibit 2.
My Galaxy W should arrive any day now (*impatient*) and I have an Exhibit 2. I think it'll be easy to cooperate on developing for both phones. I don't see anything in your first post about what's already working. (The phone is rooted, but beyond that, if you have any updates I'll look at post #1 )
Is it ok to PM you?

Depending on what error you are getting, it might work for you. It solved everything for me but I was using "repo sync -j16" (I was also following one tutorial from their wiki).
In my case the error made me unable to download the sources past 93%
Hi Guys,
Just have the phone for a week now, and i gotta say i really like this phone!
Had a LG Optimus Me before, but the Galaxy Wonder is so much more and better.
Hope there will be a CM 7 or 9 very soon.
Good luck with developping!
I was going to release a deodexed-rooted-arcokernel'd stock ROM today because I've figured out how to do it while helping Arco68 with ICS, but unfortunately the laptop I'm using right now (which is not the computer I use for dev'ing) corrupts the ROM everytime I build it.
I might bring back to my hometown (where I spend my weekends) my broken-screen laptop, connect it via HDMI to the TV in the living room and create the ROM there, since I have to go to my rented apartment to get some stuff anyway.
I'm aiming at a release tomorrow at the most.
Edit: I'm a ****ing idiot. I'm guessing it's going to work now,

@matt_6288: the T679 is the T-Mobile USA Exhibit II. KezraPlanes' ROM is for the Galaxy W (a.k.a. I8150). You can't use it as-is, but we're working on ROMs for both.
Well thanks to my mentor Arco68, I have my hands on the newest Samsung FW for the Galaxy W which makes me re-start my work from scratch. But now that I'm working on a decent computer, I should be able to do things much faster.

[Development][Port] CyanogenMod 7/Oxygen for the Galaxy W

***this thread is made strictly for development purposes so that any developer can join up and help the development of a working port of this for the Galaxy Wonder***
Okay at this point in time I'm trying to make an hard port (the easy way) of CM7 by trying to make a generic build of CM7, then bundling it with Arco68's kernel and afterwards fix the libs and whatnot.
I've already managed to compile the generic build and am now playing around to create a working .ZIP file.
Update 1 : ZIP install fine, but no boot, at least for now. Time to play a little
Update 2: Hm, weird. I was convinced this was gonna work. I'm most likely missing some Samsung patches and **** that generic builds don't have. Going back to the drawing board.
Update 3: While I go into theories about how I should go about CM7, I'm also downloading the sources for Oxygen, because I prefer it over CM7. That way I can study both.
Right on bring it on !

Since hard porting was getting me nowhere, I decided to try the hard way and I'm currently making a vendor and device config manually. I'm basing it on YardE's awesome work on the Galaxy S Plus front. At least it saves me some work, but there is still a whole lot to do.

Good luck with that considering we have zero basis to work on and building a ROM from source. If you achieve the miracle of building a 'vendor' folder that actually compiles, tell me. That tutorial assumes you have a vendor config that works for your device.
Anyways good luck. I'm still trying to make a working vendor folder.

[ROM][04/25] Unofficial CM9 Build

Unofficial CM9 Build
This rom doesn't contain any mods. It is a straight build from the CM9 github repo github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git following this guide.
Build provided by sonicrules, however he has less than 10 posts and therefore cannot post in the development forum.
The code is normally compiled daily, but sometimes the pull happens in the middle of a merge on their end, or someone commits code that doesn't compile. We do not test the rom before posting. Try at your own risk as I have also had the black screen boot issue because the March 26th build was faulty.
Not working:
There is an occasional SOD
WiFi Location Services
Working:
Hardware Acceleration (thanks to hashcode's hard work on the 3.0 kernel)
Mounting as USB Storage
Changing time zone
Build provided by sonicrules
gapps.zip
Mediafire Download

Yes that's all. There's no custom mods, or anything. It's straight from the CM9 repo. Just thought others might want a straight, no mod rom, without having to download the source, build, and compile themselves.

OP isn't maintaining the build, he's simply downloading the source code and following the instructions on how to build it against the vendor files. Any progress for the KF ICS build will rely on Hashc0de's 3.0+ kernel.
OP, please don't feel that I'm disparaging your effort in any way - there are plenty of people who will appreciate this, I just wanted to ensure their expectations of what you're providing are correct.

I think you'll find that problem is due to surfaceFlinger crashing on boot. It was a problem a few months ago when I was contributing to the ICS ROM - workaround information can be found in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20987972&postcount=48

Thank you. Currently the builds are provided by sonicrules, however when I get an internet connection actually capable of downloading the source I'll make some modifications but that will be in a new thread. This thread will stay No-Mod CM9, straight from the source code.

That's because it isn't there. The code is pulled from http://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git so it's not Kindle Fire specific until you integrate JackpotClavin's Kindle Fire Vendor files. When CM9 becomes an officially supported device by CM9 with it's own repo, then we'll pull from there.

There are devs working on fixing HWA, but its a problem with the kernel so only kernel devs can work on it. At least thats what I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

CM7 on CDMA?

Alright, I installed the CM7 by Alquez, and of course it didn't boot. So I switched to jmz's kernel, and I got it to get to the boot screen. It has the CM7 logo and it's doing it's thing, but I figured it wouldn't fully boot. Anyways, so my question is.....
How can I get a stable and fully working CM7 on my Wildfire S CDMA by VM. Is there a way where I can just replace a working kernel or do I have to wait, or even try my hand at modding.
If I've got to try it for myself, could someone link my to a guide on how to start editing the files and all that.
Thanks.
Edit: Just got it to boot. There are graphical glitches and no data. but everything else seems to be working fine. Except the camera.
The only cm7 that works on cdma/MarvelC is simonsimons34 cm7 wip Rom, the only thing that dosent work is camera, it does not come rooted when you flash it. The Rom you flashed that had glitches is a gsm Rom

Obviously I understand that. What I was asking is... Is there a kernel that allows me to use Alquezs build. I'm new, but not entirely new to this stuff. I was just wondering if his build would work on CDMA models because it states in the post that it's a kernel problem. At least to my understanding.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if this would mean there's a chance the phones are similar enough to possibly, maybe, someday get an updated ROM on the thing?
Similar? Not. Screens are not similar, hardware keyboard. I dont think its possible cuz of the screen resolution. It will be a pain in the "face".
I don't know enough about it. Apps seem to work fine with the resolution...is there a good guide for rom cooking somewhere? Maybe I'll play around myself since I doubt I can find anything that'll work with the phone.
Most of the apps are able to run on many devices cuz they support different resolution. It has nothing to do with the ROM.

What is the fundamental issue with a different resolution?
Check some ROM porting guide. Its written there that you have to choose ROMs with the same resolution cuz it will be easier to port. It means that u cant use the same ROM on 2 different phones with different resolution.

Well, there must be a guide somewhere on how to cook a rom....I'd like to at least try, given that once the next version comes out, GB will be 4 versions behind...
I have a 2ndinit CM 7.2 port just about complete. Everything except the camera works and I'm pretty close on that. This is using stock kernel, I have not looked into 2ndboot yet. I'm also waiting on the kernel source from motorola. If there's intrerest still, one I get the cam working ill post it.

Yes, we are very interesting with CM7 ROM - I had used it on my ChaCha and it was very nice. But, I believe that if I want to install custom ROM, I must have CWM Recovery (custom recovery) already installed, isn't it?
Sorry for my bad English .
CWM is installed using the Bootmenu installer. Right now I am running CM 7.2 off my SD card so I can dual boot. To access bootmenu cleanly I am currently using battery_charger mode, but, I have been able to get into CM7.2 using the first run service vpnmanagerpm. also. I still need to get the camera working, but, hope to have something up soon.

Thanks for the reply.
OK, if you already have running CM7.2 on Moto Defy Pro it's very good news, so one problem is camera, isn't it?

Excited to see this. Definitely still at least some interest.
Yeah, cwm works using 2ndinit. The rom is pretty stable, but, I still have not got the camera going. I'm closer though Everything else works and runs really fast off the sdcard. If I'm stuck too much longer, ill take a break and get a version without the cam posted.

not all of us can post there
maybe you should look into particulars(and post them) about instructions in number 2 and installing 2ndinit
Ok, sorry about that. The bootmenu installer takes care of installing the initial 2ndinit for you. The rom has 2ndinit built in for future boots. You just need to connect your rooted phone and run the batch file.

maybe others can say something
tryied with and without adb, with and wihout drivers, with two different phones and with 2 xp pc.
maybe something is't right with installer, or it is necessary use other os or to install something for it to work?
The installer needs to access adb. So either set your path to include the adb location or copy adb to the same directory as the installer script.
