SGP Ultra Hybrid Galaxy Nexus(i9250) Review - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I recently got an SGP Ultra Hybrid in Purple/Yellow and I'd like to share my review of it with the XDA community. Overall, I can easily say this is one of the best cases available in the market for the GSM Galaxy Nexus. The quality, fit, and finish is just absolutely stellar. You can find my full video review below along with some pictures of the case.

Checked out their website, only available for the GSM int'l version... sad panda.
Any thoughts on whether I could cram my VZW with extended battery in there?

Yea, unfortunately SGP's Gnex cases are only designed for the GSM Nexus. The fit on my GSM nexus is barely tight so I would imagine putting a Verizon version in there would not fit too well. More so with an extended battery.

I have the black one. Everything is OK except that the case makes the buttons very very very sensitive. This is a very annoying "feature" to me.

I have the black one as well and I too find the buttons was to sensitive, so I used a very sharp knife and trimmed off the tabs that are on the inside of the buttons on the case. This makes it a lot better.

Yea, that's true, but for me it doesn't really get in the way for my usage. I guess it just really depends on the type of user. I also prefer having my buttons protected and covered.

I really wish they would have put a different color other than yellow. Actually like the purple but the yellow ruins the case.

Yea, I understand it may not be everyone's favorite color combo, but what can you do I guess.

Thats the same case i've been using in the same colors and i like it!!!
Sure yellow and purple is lakers., and yellow does get dirty but i just use an eraser and erase the yellow back and like new!!!!
I have it with the extended, dropped my phone.. and the case saved it. Not pretty fond of the combo, but it is nice to see someone with exactly the same case as i.

I have the black one too. Its survived many drops and is a still slim fit so its not bulky. I don't mind the extra sensitive buttons, I find the power button too hard to press anyway.
->Really good case.

I have the blue one. I actually love how easy and responsive the buttons are.
It's definitely the best case that I've ever bought in terms of striking a balance between aesthetics and protection.

It does work, but the fit is not as perfect. It's still usable though.

Is there other colors available? I don't like that swedish theme

There's 4 colors I believe. You can find all of them here.
And unfortunately, I don't have pictures with the external battery because I don't have one.

Does anyone have the all black one? I'd love to see a few HQ pics. I hate shiny black but this does look cool. Any scratching from the hard plastic?

Has anyone tried using a fine razor blade to cut out the buttons on the case? My only gripe with the case is that the covers over the buttons force the case to bow out very slightly around the edge of the phone just above where the buttons are. Aside from that the case is perfect.

I have the full black one and I love it. It fits like the Rearth Ringke Slim case but also protects the sides better, which I like. The overall finish is flat but not rubbery so i have no issues sliding it in and out of my pocket. I'll try to get some pics up tonight when I get my GF's camera.

Align the camera hole, before pressing down make sure everything lines up to your liking
Press out any air bubbles with your fingers, smoothing out the surface
The speaker cover is next, align the speaker and make sure it is center. This piece should be about 1mm away from the battery door.
After you smooth that bottom part down, continue onto the sides using the same procedure. Align it about 1mm away from the battery door and press to stick it on.
Next do the sides that are closest to the screen. You'll want to align the skin with the volume rocker, then work your way onto the sides. This should be flush with the screen.
Now for the bottom piece, align the charging port hole. This piece should be about 1mm away from the front screen.
For the top, align the small notch to the little opening for the battery door. This piece should be flush with the front screen.
The last piece, the front, is optional. I would not recommend using it if you have a screen protector as there is a possibility of it lifting the screen protector up if you ever need to remove the skin. Align the camera hole and speaker.
Here's the finished product, turned out well and was done in less than 5 mins. Take your time and you can get it near perfect. Do note that we did not use a heat gun as it was not needed.
It looks ugly at the bottom corners. But thanks for the pics.

I like the blue color, but otherwise it's a bit too plain for me. Also, I don't like that you can still see the Verizon logo faintly through the skin.

The brushed steel blue is a thinner material which is why you can see the logo.

Any chance we could get some pictures of the brushed titanium and brushed aluminum, that sounds like EXACTLY what I would be looking for.
I am coming from a DX2, and while the phone sucked, it was nice feeling the metal, made me feel safe, lol
Thanks in advance!

Yes that's the Brushed Aluminum however it is the old design. I have sent out a bunch of colors for review so I'll be sure to put that video on here once completed.
Any idea when any of these reviews are coming? I am really leaning towards the skinomi skin right now but have been hoping this product would win me over.
Is the titanium translucent like the blue? Does it feel plasticy or like real metal?
Answers appreciated! Thanks!

Black to White case

hello guys,
I just bought a S2 recently and its the black one (got it off craigslist) and i was wondering. is there anyway I can make it white? (like the one on sprint.com 's homepage). I love the white one and would love to have my phone white.. is there a way to do it and is it worth it?.. thanks!
I dont think they sell any colored shell or battery door replacement sets like they do for iphone 4 to customize the phone unless you wanna go Oreo and order a white battery door

So does it not have any cutouts for the buttons/speaker/etc? Because that's what it looks like (and would actually be good... I would get the black and have a buttonless phone)

it'll basically protect from little scratches here and there, it's mainly for cosmetic purposes
it feels like it's gonna last awhile, i tested it going in and out of my tpu cases and "naked" in and out of my pocket
pretty good for 10 bucks
and here's a little tip, heat the edges with a blow dryer(or any fan blowing heat)
it helps to give the edges a better seal

Finding the OEM parts, though not the easiest of things, is by far easier then having to tear down the device and install the needed pieces.
So if your not up to or technically inclined to perform such a task, then one is probably better off approaching a less invasive procedure.
The battery door is no problem, it's the front screen portion that takes a lot of careful work.
Looks like someone is selling the back cover and battery cover, not the face plate though. Could make for a nice combo look, priced right

using the silver bezel with the black phone comes out nicer than mixing the black with the white IMO

Got my revised Ringke Slim case today.

Here is the New version meant for LTE with extended battery+battery door ON
The GSM version on my LTE phone was really nice... although it did just start developing cracks(known issue) because of the stress from the impropper fit
This new version fits perfect. It adds a hair of thickness since the hump that contours to the stock battery door hump is now filled in.
It can be seen here
Hope this helps some of you out
Is there a reason you're not using the battery door in the new case?
Thanks for the pics!

Thanks for pointing it out coz I was comparing it with the photos of the old case. The new one does go up all the way to the edge of the screen.
I'm probably gonna order one soon after figuring this out

Recieved mine today to, fits so nice. 1st case that is going to make me ditch my Diztronic 3rd gen for.
Got mine today, LOVE it.
The new case will protect the front. The top and bottom portions of the case create a small lip so while face down, everything would be resting on those lips and the phone would be protected. Just the sides are open.
Perfect fit. My new case. The trusty diztronic v3 is now officially off duty.
The only downside is my pogo pings are halfway covered. I'm fine with them covered but they shoulda either left them exposed or fully concealed. The case literally covers half of each pin.

This bothers me too. My concern is when (if ) we ever get a legit car dock, how that'll effect the connection. If there's an issue I won't let it be a deal breaker. I'll hit it with a dremel to make it work
I bought the white, but after seeing these photos, I may have to go and pick up a black case too.

Any chance of some pictures of the case as it fits in the holster?
When you say "pretty good" -- is it wobbly, snug, other?
Also: how does the Ringke case do with the Seidio clip at the top of the holster? Can you pop the phone in/out of the holster with one hand, without the clip damaging the Ringke case? Also wondering if the clip will wind up scratching the case... any thoughts?
Jon
I got the metallic one as people said it most closely matched the actual phone. It's pretty close. Just a little bit darker. I wish it wasn't so glossy though - seems like it will scratch up. I might have to go with the matte black instead. Still looks pretty good I think.
Sorry for the quality of the shots, I'm no photographer.

New Case Needed

Currently using the Aegis on my T989 and love the protection - But it does add a ton on bulk to the phone, making in/out of jeans and other pockets damn near impossible - Any suggestions on a case that offers similar protection in a slimmer profile?
Check out this item I found on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=320938021379
Looks pretty legit and slimmer but idk body gloves usually aren't that big lol

I have the Incipio Samsung Galaxy S2 Silicrylic Case.
It's pretty good in my opinion. For it being silicone and a hard polycarbonate shell it's not too bulky at all.
Easy to grip in-hand and it's easy to get out of my pockets.
Hope either of our posts helped you find a great case for this amazing device!

Go with the body glove case. It's slim and looks incredible while providing excellent protection. I can't even count the number of times I've dropped my phone but it doesn't matter because this case works really well. Anything thicker is overkill.

His GS2 is not white. It's black. He just has a white sticker on the front. The earpiece grill at the top is a dead giveaway. On the white one it is silver. I used to have the same sticker on mine but got sick of it.
Yeah, it's a white decal from decalgirl. I kind of like the two tone black and white look. Plus it hides the ugly samsung and tmobile branding so it looks cleaner.
The only downside is that it is raised from the screen so wiping oil is a little more difficult

His GS2 is not white. It's black. He just has a white sticker on the front. The earpiece grill at the top is a dead giveaway. On the white one it is silver. I used to have the same sticker on mine but got sick of it.

Oh wow, the last case looks really nice. I've been using the Ballistics and love the protection but I am thinking of changing the case and I might get that one, thanks for sharing!

Ordered these 4 cases off Ebay this week to try out.
How's the thickness on the last two cases. the black transfusion and the apex? I kind of like the black transfusion, but not really sure on the thickness. I have a d30 case I bought from tmobile . Found on the monsteraccessory website.

I have been using the Ballistic SG almost exclusively since receiving the cases. The biggest bulk is obviously the bumper corners but really protects the phone when it manages to slip out of my hand.
I ended up picking up a Body Glove case when I was in the US and really liked it other than the fact that it would cause my screen protector to bubble in the corner.
I only tried the mesh backed case for a few minutes to check fitment so I can not say too much about it other than it does look really nice on the phone.

*COMING SOON* Element Eclipse Case

What do you guys think?
http://www.gadgetmac.com/news/element-case-unveils-ion-5-eclipse-iphone-5-and-galaxy-s3-ca.html
Here is a video of the case being explained at CES 2013
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLGYBhevGvg
Second to join Element Case's composite line of Galaxy S3 cases is the new Eclipse. This is perhaps the most amazing case Android users have access to. Unlike the $50 Atom case for the Galaxy S3, the Eclipse is considered to be the flagship case as it features an anodized CNC machined aluminum bezel, and incorporates a flip-out kickstand and a unique "Sound Boost System" that channels the audio coming from the back facing speaker towards the front while enhancing the sound quality. The Eclipse combines the aluminum bezel with a high impact resistant TPU body and a real carbon fiber inlay.
The Eclipse case is thicker than the Atom due to its added benefits, yet it offers the same ruggedized protection and integrated buttons. You'll be able to pick the Eclipse four different colors and finish combinations. We've yet to hear about pricing or availability, but it's safe to say you'll pay a pretty penny for the Eclipse case.

That I quite like, both the kickstand and the sound channel
Very nice, especially the sound channel to the front, pretty ingenius
I might add this to my case collection lol
Looks nice, but the kickstand will be useless for portrait mode.
They should have put the kickstand on the bottom instead of the top.

100% agree.
All these case designers have great ideas, but they seem to all miss the boat when it comes to very simple things like the one you just mentioned.
White one looks amazing
From my opinion, switch the sound port to the side, definitely will affect the sound quality. But with $64, I am able to buy 2 UAG case. Don't you? (# ̄▽ ̄#)

This. When can I purchase this beaut.
makes me wish they put a lower price point.. 64 bucks is alot of money for a case. I like how it looks and i love the idea of the sound channel but damn the price really kills me. it's up there w/ the fancy metal bumpers.
I don't like the raw silver aluminum on the black version. If it was anodized black I would buy it in a heartbeat. Doesn't look bad on the white phone, but I don't like the idea on my black S3.

Supposedly there's 4 colors. Any idea what the other two are?
Also their website says there will be different finishes, glossy, matte?
Maybe they will have a "design your own" like they do for the iPhone.

Looks like you can order it now at http://www.elementcase.com/Element-Case-Eclipse-S3-a/309.htm.... very VERY tempting...
Just found the coupon code of 8745HPSUP34995 for 10% off which does work.
Looks like you can order it, there is not statement that it is a pre-order.
I would love to see a real review on this. I like the look $64 is steep but there are few things that I use more than my phone.

If you sign up for the newsletter, you get your own 10% off coupon code.
Available in black and silver and black on black.
The Atom flopped. They let you order and didn't ship them out right away. If you buy it, you could still be waiting on it for a while. Element is failing so hard.
ok......finally looks like they might have hit a home run! I just may have to pull the trigger on this one! Nice job!
Yeah.....just watched the video, I getting one now! I wish they had the white/silver available for my white phone but I guess I will have to go w/ the black/silver!
Ill wait for some revieuws so i can save uo for this. Still searching for my final case. I love aluminium but full body will affect. I love carbon but they have not made good cases of it. Except for this one maybe
