[Official] 2012 Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III Census - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Okay guys & gals, this is your chance!
Stand up and be counted!
Give us your best single-post comment, phrase, pic, idea, or whatevs comes to mind (within XDA guidelines) to give us all an idea of how many Sprint subscribing XDA'ers call the top new Android smartphone their own! Can be as simple as "me" or "here" (just make sure you reach the 10 character minimum), or be as elaborate as you wanna get.
This goes out to EVERYONE, including you lurkers! Be brave, oh you possessors-of-top-technogadgetry! This is a no pressure, simple way to be involved in the community & get your first post, or current post count, up. Let your voice ring throughout the land that you are a proud owner of the Samsung Galaxy S3!
Please, I know it's gonna be hard, but let's keep our replies to other poster's comments out of the thread (unless that's how you choose to be counted ) & limit ourselves to one comment for each SGS3 you own. So, if you own one, you may post "one" comment. If you own four, well...you get the idea! That way, it gives us all a more accurate representation of how many people actually own it. K?
Now, without further adieu, LET THE TALLYING BEGIN!

Nexus physical problems

Hey I would like to order the nexus in the next days. Is the last batches had problems with the screen or any kind of building problems? I know that there is a chance to get a bad device...
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk 2
I think you may have answered your question, there is always a chance. I got mine long ago and has no issues compared to some people who claim there are flaws. I've yet to experience any.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
With every handset if you look and focus on flaws you are bound to find one. Take the leap of faith
sent from my GNexus rocking Jelly Bean!
I got mine from the Play Store 2 weeks ago and as far as I can tell, its flawless.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I just got mine 2 weeks ago and I was slightly worried. While I have image retention issues and a few grainy spots I have yet to get a full "burn in". The best advice I can say is take the leap, I willingly chose this device over the international SIII due to my want to finally own a Google branded flagship... and I couldn't be happier. I played with an SIII a few days ago, and yes, the Exynos quad is bad ass but I love my Nexus. It is a truly unique, and incredible phone. In the end it is all about what you think you can live with, AMOLED is not a perfect technology, and PenTile displays take getting used to, just keep that in mind and you will do just fine
All I had was the purple screen(ordered a white one directly from amazon) then I flashed aokp and trinity and it went away.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I live in Israel and currently I am visiting the US so I afraid I get a bad device and I won't have much time to replace it.

I have a little purple tinting at low brightness, but honestly wouldn't of noticed if I hadn't read about it being an issue. I would've thought it was supposed to be that color.

I thought it was a feature because of jellybean (purple color).

Please help me with this decision Hercules vs SGSIII

Hello first I would like to thank you for taking the time to view my thread, it means a lot to me. I appreciate the community. I will cut to the chase.
I am thinking about adding a new line to my plan for my little sister. She is currently on MetroPCS and we figured I could save more by adding a plan to my line (about 15 bucks)
What made this so enticing is that I could possibly upgrade my phone and give her my current phone. I currently have a t-mobile hercules galaxy s2 and I love it. I have owned it for 8 months and its just been so great. Never had an issue and then flashed a rom that made it perfect.
I don't know what to do... should I upgrade and get the Samsung Galaxy s3 and give my younger sister my S2?? She is 15 and I was planning on giving her the Blaze 4G but the development for that phone is rubbish.
She has saved 150 for her new phone so I would just have to pay the rest.
What would you do?
Edit: Can I somehow transfer my text messages from my s2 to my s3 with titanium backup???????
Get the s3
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Ditch the s2 mate. The s3 is better in every way possible. Actually the one thing I think the t989 wins in is aesthetics. The s3 is a bad ass phone but I don't like the way it looks. To me it looks like a miniature Samsung TV.. and I think Samsung TVs are ugly. Just my 2 cents lol
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
If you can get an s3 for (effectively) $40, go for it. While I'm happy with my s2, I wanted the s3. I just couldn't justify the extra $120 over the s2.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Let me start off by saying the s3 is a great phone Ive had 3 of them but if you look at them wrong you will break the glass. Im very careful with my phones but somehow i managed to break 2 of the screens in 2 weeks. Do a search on it, it seems to be a real common thing. Also development is a little slow for it, seems like the tmobile version is like the red headed step child of the variants. I ended up selling the 3rd one I got and came back to the s2 with no regrets.
S3 looks terrible and is fragile. Though it does have advantages I still like my s2 better

I agree with the stepchild reference. If you can get an S3 just get it and enjoy your new toy. Quite sure if you dont like it you can switch out with your family member.

How do you figure the T-Mobile version is like the red headed stepchild out of the variants? It's the only one who's had a JB leak thus development is picking up rapidly.

The tmobile s2 is the read headed stepchild of its variants. The tmobile s3, on the other hand, is the same as its variants. But it has had a JB leak so it has better development than the others.

Your phone still has a decent resale value. Or.. It did until T-Mobile and Walmart made it available for $299.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I would personally go for the s3. And use sms backup for your texts. Especially if you're going from one phone to a different phone, titanium message restores cause the messaging app to crash.

Funny how we were saying the same thing about the tmobile vibrant (original galaxy s and only variant to not get gingerbread). For whatever reason, Samsung and t mobile have a history of treating their galaxy variants like red headed stepchildren.
Can we really be surprised if the trend continues?

If I could only take the S4 SoS, 2Gb of RAM, Super Amoled HD screen.......and the multi-color notification led.. cram it into my t989.. Id be set..
I really don't care for the build of the SGIII but its internal hardware packs a nice punch... exterior is garbage

I just want all the software goodies, and functionality. My s2x is fast enough. Its probably faster than the soon to be released ip5. Having my son's ip4s, my i4, and my gs2x side by side, my galaxy beat both quite easily in real world use age.

Im waiting to see what this fall brings. Im pretty tempted by the possibility of Wireless charging for the Lumias. The charging port on my S2 got messed up somehow and charges VERY slowly as a result.

I uhhh.. find that very hard to believe. The CPU in the iPhone 4s and upcoming i5 run circles around the old s3 chip in this phone. Not trying to defend Apple or anything but the CPU in the t989 is a boat compared to the normal exynos 4 in the other GSIIs.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Please people stop calling it SGS3 or S3, because it's none, the real S3 is Quad core
Tmo USA version is Dual core, and it's called SGH-T999 or T999 for short
if you already own the T989 there's no point getting the T999
if you don't yet have a T989 then get the T999
the minor upgrade is not worth it

this phone is seriously ridiculously amazing. far exceeded my expectations (i've only had it for 2 days and im in love) by far the best phone i've ever had. it's buttery smooth which to me was my only issue with past android phones. no lag whatsoever and the display is beautiful.
It was a tough decision to move from pure Google to the note 2. But reading reviews and having multi windows open sealed the deal. Anybody else leave galaxy nexus for this phone?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Never mind I read that question wrong lol
Usually people don't leave stock Android if they like that. But if you enjoy that layout of the stock Android home and app drawer, then you can download the Nova Launcher (you can even get the stock icons instead of the ugly TouchWiz icons). I came from a CM ROM back to stock and needed that look. However, there is sooo many more features in touchwiz that are nice.
But especially with the development section, you should have no problem getting an AOSP ROM if that's what you prefer in the future.

Aftermarket note 2

I was looking around and came across a Japanese company that makes note 2 for $250 is this a good deal and will it work? I know it has 2 sim cards slots

I doubt it is Japanese. They do not do that kinds stuff. More likely made by a Chinese company. What will you do when it breaks?

first of all if a company other than samsung makes it then it is not a note II but just a phone that looks like it. And second at that price point it would be impossible to make a phone with the same specs and still make a profit so my advice is NO do not buy it.
That's the link from eBay but I was wondering if it had lte

You get what you pay for.
Buy that 250 dollar phone and tell us how well its built, how long it lasts, and if it gets any software updates.. (guess software updates is a bad example. LOL)
I have seen companys like these. They use diffrent components
If u flash a "note ii rom" to it most likeley you will have a brick.
But they do have nifty stuff.
Id like to get one and play with it. But I expect a total peice of s**t Chinese knockoff device

aftermarket note 2
If you want a clone note 2 there are a lot of Chinese clones, a few i saw even call themselves galaxy note 2, I think I know the one you are talking about, at least the price is the same, the specs are horrible, no service to speak of, the screen is actually only 800x480, I meg ram. I'd stay away from it. Manufacturer of that phone wholesales them for $119, a piece of real junk
Check Reviews on Amazon
On amazon there are alot of people Giving those devices great initial reviews. Then coming back and saying Do NOT BUY.. They Do work ok for watching movies on i think . But the stylus is a Rubber capacitive stylus not a Wacom.. I would save a few more bucks up and Buy a used Note 2 on ebay. or buy the note 1..
You can get new Note 1 on amazon for 350.00 Brand new..
Used note 2 are going for 400.00 and up on Ebay from respectable Sellers..
I am currently waiting for mine that i ordered yesterday to come in .. Like new IN Box with all accessories mint condition 475.00 ... I could not see buying a new one when i have a Nexus 7 32 gb a note 10.1 32 gb . and a nice 4 inch Huawei unlocked global phone (from amazon) .... ohh i also have a Nice destop computer dual booting.. a New 17 inch hp laptop and 11.6 inch hp notebook.. I know i am bad....
I am Erica and I am a Tech Hoarder . Please take my credit cards
I would get the nexus 7 or note 10 but can't use it as a straight phone that i know off. I would need a wifi to use to make calls and texts over Google voice

I have a question?

I love my note 2 I've asked a few questions like this but I honestly wanna know if this is a good deal because I might trade my note for a new white S3 plus 140$ it comes with 3 cases plus box and all . Is that good deal? Or selling it for 450$ good also?

Why dont you just ask this question and your other question on just one of your post instead of flooding xda with the same questions since they all relate to you selling or trading it. Plus every post I see you say you love your note 2 but damn you trying to pass her around like a $2 hooker.

I agree with the poster above. You say you love Galaxy Note 2, but still want to downgrade to Galaxy S3 with a little extra money. Upgrading is one thing, but downgrading shows how you feel about the device that you are downgrading from. That feeling is definitely not a love feeling.
Question that comes into my mind is: Why do you want to get rid of your Galaxy Note 2 just to get the Galaxy S3?
Because I have the iPhone 5 so idk if I should keep both nd use both our just trade or sell the Note 2

Let me get this right. You are using Galaxy S3 (SGH-T999) to post here about selling/trading your Galaxy Note 2 for another Galaxy S3 with more money, because you can't let go of your iPhone 5 and you now have two or more devices in use. Sorry long winded there.
Boy, the plot thickens.
Do you know that the Galaxy S3 is smaller, less powerful and less battery life device over Galaxy Note 2 being larger and more powerful device with longer battery life? This is why this doesn't make sense to us.
If you can't let go of your iPhone 5 then that should be your device. No need to sell or trade to get Galaxy S3 when you already own one. If you want to get rid of your Galaxy devices then why not give them to someone who really needs a smartphone and would make use of Android. Just make sure that you fully paid for the Galaxy devices before selling/trading/giving away.
Why are you using smartphone devices? What use are you getting from them? What would you like to do with them? Why would you go smaller, less powerful, and less battery life device over larger, more powerful device with longer battery life? Why not look at the new devices that are coming out? Are you just going for the most popular device of the moment? I am just trying to understand your thought process.
Keep both and delete your xda account.
