[Q] How to change the default install destination from int to ext by Root Explorer? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having a SE Xperia Arc S LT18i Android Version 4.0.3 and I'd root my phone.
Now i'm wondering how to change the default installation destination from internal memory to external memory (SD card) by root explorer.
Can anyone help me on this? Best by providing the edited code so that I can know which line of codes have to be changed.
Or any other ways to solve this problem beside using Root Explorer.
Btw, how to move the unmovable apps to SD card? Urgent~
Thanks in advance~

Follow the Link2SD guide on XperiaBlog.

Thanks~ I'll try it now~

Why are my partition tools not detecting my SD card when I plugged in my phone to the laptop?
Is this happened to all Xperia Arc S phone??
Need Help, can't create 2nd partition btw can't copy my files from SD card to Desktop...(for backup)

which partition tools are you using? paragon and all doesnt detect dunno y..use minitool partition..

tried both paragon and minitool, both doesn't work

Connect your phone in MSC mode. Under MTP mode, your SD card won't get detected.

@xtacy!
and how do we change the mode from MTP to MSC? thanks

Settings->Xperia->Connectivity->USB connection mode

1. segmentation fault while want to move my app using link2sd from internal to SD card. (tried both fat32 and ext4)
2. while connected to PC, it only can detect one partition.
zzzzz

while clicking install location on link2sd shown segmentation fault too!!
and1 more question, (i guess) since my app can be link and move from my internal memory to my first partition only, photo snapped by camera also stored in first partition, then what can I do with my second partition?
recommended partition resize for my 8GB SD card is what?
e.g. part1- 3.75gb part2- 3.5gb

You might want to format your SD card and try again. That might get rid of the segmentation faults.
Photos taken with the camera are saved directly to the SD card and not to the new partition.
I normally use 1GB for the partition.

[Q] How to format SD card to use as internal memory?

Hello All,
As we all know there a bit slight issue as far as the internal memory of Xperia Arc is concernend.. when I googled on how can we use our SD card to actually increase the internal memory so that we need not move the apps explicitly to the SD card, I came to knw that we need to create a partition on our SD card in ext4 format.. But I dint get the exact way of doing it... so can anybody tell me how we can do it? And does it need to have a custom ROM installed? Does it work on stock ROM also? Please help.. Thanks..
Try Link2SD or AD2SDX.
I tried Link2SD, but my problem was that after creating the new partition in FAT32, the phone won't mount the SD card, and keeps acting as if the SD card removed. When I deleted the second partition, everything went back to normal but without adding to the internal memory (which is the whole point)
I must have done something wrong but can't figure it out.
The second partition is the one that has to be in ext4 format and as logical so your phone will not try to mount it for storage purposes..

Partitioning your SD card doesn't give you more internal memory

try partition your SD from clockworkmod to 1GB external 0M swap then go to play store and install link2sd.
partitioning SDcard give you virtual 2 SD's. 1 of them, 1GB ext3 partition can be used as internal memory with link2sd. just select all apps and click create link... you will get so much memory. i have installed more than 100apps.
do not need to return your sdcard
because,now 2G you can not see it,but still can use。you can link2sd or data2sd,very useful。

hey, I hope who can help me. I want to divide my Sd card (16Gb Class 10) into 3 partitions. one for Swapper2 (1Gb), one for Link2SD (2Gb), and rest in the 3rd partition. if it has not done up to now. Does who have there instructions for me?

Here you are
First back up your sd card data then partition sd card- use mini tool for that you can searh how to partition sd card on xda there is a simple guide for it. I made it using cwm but you can make only upto 256 mb partition for swapper using cwm. Short guide using mini tool( no limitations) use card reader, first delete partitions on sd card, create Ist partition primary fat32, 2nd one primary ext3(1 gb recommended its enough for all apps and 1gb+ is not tested) 3rd partition swap(1gb) then apply place sd in PLAY open link 2 sd select ext3 done reboot open swapper2 chage setting as you want click 'on' that's it.

Ext partition on stock .587 firmware

I'm on stock and rooted .587. I've tried a couple of times in the past to format the sd card in ext3 or ext4, but the phone refused to recognise the sd card. I have a new card now and wanted to ask if something has changed. Is there any way to recognise any ext partition on our Arc S? Thanks.

Android itself does not recognize ext3 or ext4 format, unless you use certain apps to make it happen. These partitions are used by App2SD and some others as reserved space only for apps that will be placed on SDcard.
You need to make 2 partitions, one FAT32 and other ext3/4, FAT32 will be recognized, other one only by certain apps.
You probably need a custom kernel, I don't think the stock kernel has the capability to recognise any separate partitions. That's why the card ends up not being recognised at all.

Well i have got a solution to this problem.
It can be solved by using link2sd. When we open link2sd it would let us select the 2nd sd partition type i.e. ext4 and mount scripts would be created then phone will reboot and we can see 2nd partition using root browser in data/sdext2 or something like this.
