Anyone try BodyGuardz? - Galaxy S III Accessories

I wanted to put something on my S3, but didnt want it too bulky as the slimness is one of the great features...So I end up looking at a few and think I want to try the bodyguardz armor and screen protector. Just wondering if anyone has used it lately and if it can be put on easy and cover and look good? Also wondering about the screen protector that comes with it. You see I had one on my iphone 3gs I just upgraded from and it had the best protector I have seen, my wife and kids had the zagg and it sucked, the orange peel and most of them ended up with jacked up edges before long and all that. But the one I had , well I have no freaking clue what brand it was...it was rigid, not a floppy skin like the zaggs and most others, it was more stiff and stayed flat if you held it on your figure for instance. I just wish I remembered who made that one as it would be my choice for sure.

Bump - I'm interested to hear if anybody has tried the bodyguardz for this phone too. Particularly the carbon fiber one.

I have used BG for over 3 years now (Palm Pre, EVO OG, E4GT, and now my GS3). I don't know why people don't comment much on it. I have tried the big guys, Ghost Armor, Zagg, etc. and I always keep coming back to BG. The build quality, clarity, application (especially the new ones with the gel) are second to none. You also get 2 sets per kit in case you mess up and unlimited lifetime replacements. Their customer service is amazing.
No orange peel, no weird Zagg texturing, simply clear.
I highly, highly recommend them. You won't regret it.

That's awesome. Thanks.
I'm not going to be put the screen protector on though...might change my mind, but really I'm buying it for the carbon fiber skin. I do not drop my phone, so all I want is scratch/scuff protection. Anybody used the skins, particularly the carbon fiber? I'm really curious if it's got any friction or grip or if it's really slippery still. Thanks!

I've previously used BSE on some products and always had good results.

Best Brand for screen protectors?

Anyone here that has owned a capacitive touch screen, please feel free to chime in with which screen protector you liked the most!
Im looking to buy a protector that doesn't impede the touch experience & image quality of this amazing screen.
Also a warning against bad brands would be appreciated. I Believe Zagg/Invisi shield has already been established as a bad buy.
As another discouraged zagg user, I recommend buying cheap packs off of ebay. They usually are smooth and clear, but they get damaged every 1 or 2 months for me, but that's no problem as they were cheap and I just put a new one on. All the expensive ones seem to have a problem with clarity or feel, but if anyone else has a suggestion I would like to know too.
I'm going to wait for gadgetshieldz to come out with one. They may be coming from India, but their customer service is actually good when I needed another front screen skin for my Tilt 2 because the cut was slightly off. They mailed me an entire full body set within no time. Plus they're reeeeally cheap (Tilt 2 full body set was 6.99 - some discount percentage that was floating around) and lasted me almost the entire lifespan of my phone (Switched from Zagg).
Ok, but how does it feel? Is it smooth to swype as the glass screen beneath it? Clarity?
I use BodyGuardz for all of my phones (started with iPhone 3g -> Blackberry 8900 -> Blackberry 9700) and have not had a problem with them. Did not affect the touch capabilities of my iPhone 3G and kept the screen nice and new underneath.

I haven't used it on a capacitive screen, so I wouldn't know how it actualyl performs. But it's a lot smoother than the Zagg shields I've had before on the phone and iPods and such. The screen protector on my Tilt2 looked great, didn't skew the image at all. I eventually had to take it off though because resistive touch screen + skin = bleh. Pending user installation, you can hardly tell it's there.
nice, ill deff look into bodyguard n gadget shield. next question is, should i put the film all over my phone or just get a case n only use a shield on the screen.
guess what im sayin is: Is the film covering the screen and body enough? id really rather not add the bulk of a full blown case to my device.
p.s. heres another site with protectors that someone vouched for here
http://www.bestskinsever.com/
I started with Zagg, but have moved to BodyGuardz for my last 3 devices. They are the same quality, but for the same price as 1 Zagg sheild, you get two (2) BodyGaurdz protectors.
Currently using BodyGaurdz on the following products with no problems to report:
HTC Tilt 2 (Touch Pro 2)
HCT Pure (Wife's Phone)
Zune HD
soon on the Samsung Captivate
The real question is when will SwitchEasy-like devices come out that snap around the phone, like what the iPhone has???
is switch easy the ones that are relatively thick? Also, no one offered any insight yet on my question, do you think a case is necessary or will just a film covering over the phone be enough? I really like how sleek this phone looks and dont really want to add to its dimensions.
All I know is I had accidentally thrown my iPhone into some pavement and without the switch easy case, it would've been SOL.
Just look at their website. The cases fit like a glove and are very seamlined (They are not big and bulky like otterbox)
wow those cases look amazing. i would purchase something like this in a heartbeat for the captivate. its not thick, it holds the phone together great, and it looks comfy on the hands. Ima shoot them a letter requesting a skin for the att captivate. maybe if more people do they will consider it. So far it looks like they are only doing iProducts cases tho.
Here's a link:
http://www.switcheasy.com/
if anyone knows of a company that does cases similar to this and support a wider range of products, plz post it here.
Yea, they're awesome cases. They protect it great but don't add a ton of bulk.
They're i-Product only though, as you found out. That's why I was asking if anyone knew of something similar here.

I've had their antiglare protectors on all my phones, great for capacitive touch. I'll probably NOT go antiglare on the Captivate because you do loose some picture quality with the antiglare. $13ish for a single one, $25 or so for a 3 pack. That site also has a lot of other nice cheap accessories, like cables/chargers etc. I have on of their cases on my ipod though and don't care for it. Just don't like neoprene style cases.
wait what? You probably will go with antiglare because you lose some picture quality? This seems counter productive.
i know thats probably not what you meant to say. I'm hoping what you meant to say is that you wouldnt go anti glare? idk

Do I really need a Screen Protector for Captivate?

Hi,
Is the Capacitative screen of this phone is scratch resistant like iPhone? I was able to use my iPhone for 2years without getting a scratch on screen. I am awaiting my phone in mail, was thinking of buying accesories...
Thank you
I won't be getting a protector for mine. As long as you are careful, you'll be fine.
Even people with ocd make mistakes. Get the case from att and a screen protector. Protect your investment. Trust me.

Very true. And that whole scratch protector is kinda a lie. You can see pics/vids where the iPhone screen is pretty scratched.
No offense to anyone posting on this topic but I do not understand the purchase of accessories from AT&T or any other provider store. Items for these phones can be purchased significantly cheaper from online.
I bought a box of cut-to-size screen protectors for $5 from amazon and it has lasted our family through several phones and replacements. Touch screen function is not hindered and clarity is perfectly fine.
Though I use screen protectors, I do not believe in phone cases. I feel a phone is built to fit the users hand and cases add unwanted bulk that I don't like. Accidents do happen but in most situations you will cause no more than cosmetic damage. Use some sense when handling your phone and it should last until your next.
I remember recently having a "discussion" with my wife as to why she paid more to get a white iphone and then put a case on it. This baffled me to the point of agitation and I had to drop the conversation.
If really concerned, just get insurance through your provider or home insurance company. At least until the phone price drops after the next big release.
Thanks
Thanks for the replies, will be getting a case any way, still thinking of screen protector...

QFT on all that. I bought like 6 from Ebay China for like $1 and they work better than Apple's $10 ones.

That's a calculated risk.
Is spending $5/mo with a $50 deductible worth it versus spending $30 for a case???
You obviously have not used any good cases. Not all cases are like Otterbox and add half a pound to the weight and an inch to the thickness... SwitchEasy was my favorite when I had my iPhone. Waiting for something similar on the Captivate now.
I'm debating this as well.
I got the body glove case from att and a pack of screen protectors. The att rep put it on for me bubble free. I keep the case on when i am out and take it off at my desk at work. The phone is beautiful. The screen protector is more finger friendly and shows no smudges.
Definitely get a screen protector. Accidents happen, no matter how careful you are. And I would suggest a body glove of some type, again, accidents happen.
What brand of screen protector do you guys recommend?

aaaaaaaaahhhhhaha white iphone with a case. i lol'd. women eh?
with ur statement on bulk, get one with a minimalistic design. a case not only protect ur phone but look sexy too. if you scratch a case you can replace it hangin on to that sex appeal. scratch a phone and ur sol. Also good condition is important for resale
oh but if ur really against cases just get one like leather case that you only keep it in while ur not using it
Case:
I understand both sides. I guess "accidentally" putting my phones through more punishment than I thought they would endure has given me excess confidence in their physical design. I am a fan of the "phone pocket" now in most jeans and cargo pants. It is comfortable and easy to grab (also stays low to the ground). I would like to take some advice and get a nice case but I guess my wife's iPhone cases have already left me disapproving and I hate to add bulk, but maybe I'll try again. I'll admit the Captivate is a bit "smooth."
Screen Protector:
There is not to much to argue about here. I wouldn't worry about brand.
1. Does it stick to the screen?
2. Is it clear?
3. Does it fit?
If you answer YES to all three of these then it is a good screen protector.
If you answer NO to any one of these questions, KEEP SHOPPING.
I'll take a look later to see what brand the box is I have at home so I can post it.
Slim but durable cases are possible. Just very few companies put forth the effort to engineer one.
Switch Easy, they only make for iProducts but when I had my 3GS it was great. A thin rubber around the outside (protect it from shocks and also keeps the case itself from scratching it), then you snap a horizontal then a vertical case that form into one hard case... It was very thin (nothing like the bulk of an Otterbox), yet I think you could have thrown it across the room and the phone been fine.
I recommend the invisibleShield by Zagg. Had one on my iphone and totaled out a work van by flipping it with the phone sitting on the dash. Was one single mark on the iphone screen and it came off when I put a new Shield on it. I was impressed. It feels a bit rubbery for a screen protector at first but never noticed any impedance with touch sensitivity. Costs a bit more then normal protectors as well but again well worth it if you ask me.
Just got home and looked at the protectors I have. The brand is WRITERIGHT (universal screen protectors)
A set of 10 was dirt cheap ($3) and I have been using them for about 2 years. They are cut-to-fit and will cover the entire face of the captivate.

hello all. first post on here. just got my captivate last saturday and still waiting for martin fields to make a screen protector for this phone. they are a lil pricey, but totally worth it.
Well when I picked up my Captivate, I picked up the Body Glove Silicone Case from ATT because I prefer to keep any new devices in a silicone/gel style case for some protection. My sister and mom picked up the Captivate after they played with mine on Sunday *7-19-2010* and called me last night to set up my mom's phone and install a screen protector *3x for $ 9.99 at the corporate att store in my area*, for installing the sp and transfering the contacts *manually* and setting up gmail, I got a SP for free for my captivate for 15 minuets worth of work. Not too bad and I am a little more less worried then the last 2 days..

Wow, 16 replies and not one answer to the original question about the Glass.
Many devices like Microsoft Zunes have a special hardened Glass, you can use keys, knives, razor blades etc to it and not scratch them. If a screen protector makes you warm and fuzzy go for it, but if this device (I don't yet know what Glass it has) has "that" Glass then its a waste of money. It's going to take a hell of a hit to break it, and a sceen protector wont prevent that.
You can read about such glass here:
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2009/04/glass-screen-durability-test-a-lesson-on-the-mohs-hardness-scale.php
I ran a screen protector on my HTC Hermes for years, and hated it. Finally removed it last year and love it. And no scratches. (Case has flip cover for when its in your pocket) A lot more depends on how you treat it. I have 4 sons, 2 of them seem to destroy electronics, 2 of them don't.

So, I was FINALLY able to get my order through on the Zagg website for the full mt4g skin. Pretty stoked about it. Does anybody have one on their phone yet- is the LCD protector smooth or 'grippy' like the bare screen is?

Smooth and Zagg dont belong in the same sentence
Should have looked thru the forums first, if you want a smooth screen protector you should have went with realook! And even with the 50% deal they have, imo is still steep especially with companies like bestskinsever and phantomskins offering similar products but cheaper. Now don't let the price fool you. I've own zagg on my g1 and itouch but then found BSE for the mytouch og my nexus and now for the mt4g. BSE has better coverage on corners and has less orange peal imo than zagg.
One advantage of zagg tho is the kiosks in the mall, you can exchange your skin there once the skin starts pealing or discoloring. With BSE you have to mail the old skins first then you get the new one...but with their buy one get one you always have a spare.
Sweet, thanks guys! Well, one thing that helped me feel like it would be safe to get the Zagg skins is the money back satisfaction guaranty. lol Zagg and smooth not belonging in the same sentence does throw up a red flag though! I've been looking through the forums and would really like to get the real look skins, but they are out of stock . Maybe If the Zagg's don't work out for me, it'll buy me enough time for the real looks to be back in stock somewhere.
Well what you can do is use the zagg for everything else and get the realook for your screen but save the zagg screen protector when you exchange the skin, cause they won't do it if there's a diff one on your phone in the kiosks. Learned that the hard way...took 2 trips to the mall
Hey, thats an awesome idea!- I'm gonna do it. I'll continue keeping an eye out for the SS's to get back in stock

Looking for a case.

I'm looking to get a case for my SGS2, i picked it up locally on CL a few weeks ago and the film that was on the back cover is starting to get messed up, figure I should just get a case.
Anyhow, i'm looking for a case that is easy going in and out of the pocket (a must, its why i have left the film on it, nice and easy out of the pocket), dot need or care about kickstand, and looking to get it on amazon, been looking at all the cases i could find on amazon and came up with two that i think fit the bill, any one have experience with them?

The Aegis case is great (not sure about the Fishbone one though), can't really go wrong.
I would probably go with this one;
http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-CSK3SS..._1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1332720616&sr=1-3
As for skins, don't bother with full skin. If you want a screen protector, Invisishield is excellent, my brother has it on his International S2 and it's very clear and nice, he loves it.
Personally I don't use a screen protector on mine, no issues with scratches whatsoever, not even fine scratches.
Yeah, if you want a good screen/case combo, can't go wrong with Aegis or my preference the Seidio case and invisishield screen protector.
i know when i had the Seido Activ case for my Nexus S it was a bit "grippy" and pulled my pocket out when brining the phone out (slight annoyance), is that one the same?
Having the film is more for the back/sides protection, i saw some threads about how some cases can scratch it up.

For the skin, I would recommend a Ghost Armor one. I just got mine and I'm in love with it. You can barely notice the screen protector is on it, and it works great. Also the texture of the carbon fiber feels great and will keep your phone looking and feeling just like new.
What about this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Body-Glove-Sa..._1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1332726722&sr=1-2
It looks great, I brought it and Im a happy customer
i bought this one
http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Hybrid-Silicone-Durable-Kickstand/dp/B0070DGQW6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332729809&sr=8-1
im using the sedio active case with clip. not too bulky and easy goes in and out of pocket.
but if you wear skinny jeans like some of these kids nowadays then go with the thinnest case possible.
ended up getting the fishbone one, will update when it shows up (it was @ the $10 mark which i had a gift card on amazon for that amount)
i didnt care for the fishbone case. i have a black one and i dont like the way it feels and it seems to kinda pick up lint in my pocket. i have one pretty much new just sitting here lol. i like this case the best.

The Best Case Ever
The 3DO impact resistant case that Tmobile sells is the best case for any cell phone I have ever seen. It doesn't hang up on clothing like other gel cases and the 3DO technology is outstanding. You must see this case to believe how great it is. Meanwhile check out the videos here and on YouTube (search 3DO)

In my opinion this case is worth every penny and then some. It feels awesome in the hand, doesn't hang up in a pocket and offers superb impact protection.

Ghost Armor - Review

I like many people am looking for the best way to protect my phone and keep the sleekness of this device prevalent. After buying my Galaxy S III, I started my research right away. Unfortunately I work as a Carpenter and Installer and couldn't afford to keep my phone naked at work, so as I was looking for a case at my local mall I had seen the Ghost Armor kiosk and decided to give it a whirl.
Review!
To start I have had the device for a week now, and the shield just as long. As I stated above I work Construction, and my phone is one of my most invaluable tools while I'm out at a customers house, running errands, or just in the shop. I had the Galaxy S II (Sprint) and it went through hell, from dents in the sides to scratches on the screen to being dropped from the seat of our work van, it took quite a bit of abuse, I didn't want my S III to endure the same beatings my S II took. (Just a note, its now in my girlfriends care, safe and secure in her everlasting grip.)
Pro's
Covers screen and backing well.
Price isn't bad, $35 for my total.
Screen stays less oily and less streaky.
Does its job and prevents the screen from getting scratched.
Cons
Does not cover entire body.
The skin placement is only as good as the installers skills.
The carbonfiber backing option creates edges.
Exposed areas. (where some skins cover.)
While this product does do its job and did to it well it does leave a lot to be desired, I have seen skins out on the market that cover the entirety of the phone, and you would think getting it from a bigger name they would have a more complete skin for the product. It did do its job however, but then again for about $30.00 USD I could get an Otter-Box that would do the same and much more. I have attached pictures for anyone interested in how it looks.
In short I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone looking for full protection, as a screen protector its nice, but it doesn't offer as much as other wraps that I have seen online.
Would've looked better in black imo. But thanks for sharing.
Ghost Armor is kind of overpriced. I had it on my one S and will never buy again.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I've used Ghost Armor screen protectors on my last three phones - Inspire, Skyrocket, and now S3. I like the screen protectors because they still feel pretty slick (probably not quite as much as the actual glass, but they don't tend to "catch" your fingers) and they don't seem to change the screen's appearance (at least not that I can tell).
However, I have never put a skin on any of my phones (I've only used cases), so I cannot personally comment on the quality of those.

Quite a few people have said that, but I like the white and have no regrets on getting it in white. At least me sharing the pictures will help others decide if they like the pebble blue with a white carbon-fiber backing. To each their own.

I DIG the white on the blue! got me thinking about it. just have to think about which color I would get with my white phone.

You will regret the white. Had it installed on my wife's phone and it picks up dirt like you wouldn't believe.... looks horrible after that.....
Hey Just want to let everyone know if you like this look and don't wanna cut your own.I searched all last night and found a company that doesn't have those seems on the corner I even emailed them to make sure here it is http://www.xgearlive.com/products/android/samsung/exoskin-s-iii
I just ordered one
thanks for the review.
You forgot to mention the lifetime warranty. Don't like the colour? Pay the 5 bucks labour and have them change the colour. I got the green but it wasn't bending over the edges well. Went back and they swapped the back with carbonfibre gunmetal grey. Looks great, left the green sides on just so I can easily find it on my desk/bed/wherever. Love this. I didn't find it pricey at all when I compared it to the invisashield and others that get all scratched up and faded. If this happens to this, you just pay 5 bucks and they'll slap a new one one. I also agree that the screen protector is far less grippy than the invisashield so it's more enjoyable to use.
I'm going to get my nexus 7 done next I think.
I like the fact that their Kiosks are popping up all over the place. They have 2 in the same mall local to me. I paid 20 bux for the front screen protector installed. I have them install it for me and they do a great job. IF they don't have one for your phone, which is the case with Galaxy S II and III since they sell out of them often, they can be talked into cutting one out custom for it.
