Side By Side Video Comparison [International.vs.Sprint US] Galaxy S3 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

The international Galaxy S 3 has a quad core Exynos CPU with 1GB of RAM, while the USA versions of the Galaxy S 3 have a dual core Snapdragon S4 chip with 2GB of RAM. Which is better? Most importantly, which is faster?
If you've been wondering if there are any important differences in speed between the International Samsung Galaxy S III sporting the Quad-Core Exynos processor and the US variant that sports a Dua-Core Snapdragon S4 CPU, this video is for you. Watch our detailed comparison of how real-life use affects each device on a side-by-side battle.

Thoughts?
I like what I'm seeing. No real difference other than benchmarks. I don't see the lag on the US Variant that people speak of.
Now if i could just get Verizon to Release their version

Looks great. Very straightforward and nicely done comparison.

Only in CPU benchmarks. For everyday usage I'll take the extra gig of ram over the extra 2 cores (which most apps probably won't take advantage of)

Lol extra 2 gig wont matter much it would just let you do more multitasking but when you run high end games like nova 3 then international gs3 would run better cuz it has better cpu &gpu

I personally find Sense not useful.. how about the multitasking issue on one X?
Cause the S4 is the best dual core cpu currently. And the TI Omap 4460 on our GNex wasn't even the best dual core cpu when it came out!

That's wrong, the TI OMAP was the only SOC that natively supported HD Video Decoding and LTE/HSPA+42(disregard the existence of the s3 for now). Its also better at multi threaded processing than the Exynos. It has dual channel memory and uses ARMs NEON engine for better media playback. So overall, the TI OMAP is just more flexible and has more features to play with....oh and it supports 1080p HD...something the 4210 didn't support.
Exynos is only "better" because of the Mali GPUs it is paired with, which is a great GPU. Still doesn't compare to the 12-core Tegra GPU. Don't even get me started about how much better the S4 is at power management.

Can't agree. Maybe it opens apps slightly faster.. but my galaxy nexus is slightly smoother than my gs3 and its h/w accelerated, that's why I used the nexus instead of gs3 and I saw the one x in the shop and it isn't smooth not as smooth as galaxy nexus with jelly bean, not even close
Sent from my Jelly Beaned GNexus
I find it amusing how people are so stuck on this smoother thing...The GNEX, One X and S3 are all smooth devices. Let's get real, they are all great phones. Do people really sit there with these three phones and swipe them side by side and see which is smother. Do people actually open apps and see which one opens a hair quicker and then base there decision on which phone to purchase because of those results?
If smoothness is the most important thing to you on a phone then by an iPhone and get it over with.
Otherwise, I do not understand why people stress out of the speed of these devices. It is like when new Roms come out people are always posting how fast it is. This Rom is so fast, faster then xxx....This is the fasted Rom out. Then I try it and I am like they all feel the f'n same! lol
Hi, in my honest opinion its impossible ,if you have jelly bean ,nexus is the smoothest phone u can have ,also better to s3.
Jelly bean smooth is based on 3 factor ,first of all try to install new ROM or wipe or so ,wrong apps like task manager or battery manager can slow your phone
1) GPU ,with project butter GPU is more important, if you want try overclocked kernel ,but for me is stupid ,my GNex is smooth without too
2) Touch ,make sure your don't have 2 dollars screen protector
3) CPU ,the main revolution of android 4+ is using interactive governor ,this permits accords due first 2 factor ,when user touch an interaction to spin up CPU to Max and when finish touch back to Min,
Conclusion :
Try different kernel that have interactive governor ,if u use stock there is no problem, try wipe or uninstall bloat app ,android don't require stupid apps like task manager .
My friend has a one X ,smoothness is the same

That's because the majority of users posting about "fastness" are little kids who don't actually use the phone for anything more than games and stupid apps.
Does it honestly matter if it takes 0.1 millisecond longer to launch an app? Its not the end of the world, you cant expect a phone released in December 2011 to be on par with a phone released 2 months ago?

[Q] Nexus 7 Beats out S III?

Now I know benchmarking isn't exactly "accurate" but I'd imagine it does give you a rough idea of how well your phone is performing, now my question is how can the Nexus 7 Tablet go from a score of about 3500, to over 7100 with just an OC'd kernel to 1.64GHz? Beating out the S III in 'Quadrant Standard' by a long shot. Again I know benchmarks don't mean much, but has anyone topped "7130" with a U.S. variant S III? Just curious and looking for some feedback,
I''ll post the link to the article,
Thanks guys.

Hmm I thought S3 would be much faster than the Nexus 7 but after looking at specs it does have a quad core processor "Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A9" but only 1gb of ram, we have 2gb. Seems weird that the I/O is A TON faster when oc'd. The other day I did a quadrant standard and got 2600 and tested 30 mins later and was at 4800 so it could just be numbers. Seems too big of a jump from 1.3 to 1.64ghz But yeah thanks for sharing!
Yup np, yeah I just found it odd... such a huge leap, and so much more than the 2GB ram S3, but it could just be the highest score out of 20 different tries.

I mentioned android being fast because of ICS and jelly bean. What has to set phones apart now these days is design, battery life and features. I wonder what the next iteration of touchwiz will bring. I was aosp fan but features pulled me in towards touchwiz big time

Lmao, good call on the word count. Made my day.
Either way I'm getting the next build when it releases and I'm sure 30 million other people will as well, the GS3 is the one device that finally pushed the standard past the 1gb ram and will continue to keep a huge following. March isn't that far away and I still love my GS3 like I just bought it so it will be interesting to see what the final release will be like and what other companies are going to do to compete with it.
NRA Approved GS3
If I had to assume on the specs, design and release date for SGS4, it would be:
*Display:
5.0in Super AMOLED display with a slimmer screen
Full HD (1080x1920)
*Case:
The SGS4 will be thinner and slightly wider with a more rectangular look (sort-of like Nokia Lumia 920 but rounded corners)
Liquidmetal technology for durability
Button-less with Swipe Gesture (my imagination) where the Home button is on the SGS3
*Under the Hood:
4G LTE
Wireless Charging
>Camera:
12 Megapixel Rear Camera.
2.1 Megapixel Front Camera
>Processor:
Either Exynos or Snapdragon S4 clocked at 1.8Ghz
>RAM:
2GB of RAM with faster Mhz speed or 2.5GB of RAM
>ROM:
Either 4.2.1 Jelly Bean or 4.3/5.0 Key Lime Pie
Motion:
Better motion senses/Corresponds with Swype Gesture
>All-Play Cast:
With S Cloud, all the apps and media will sync with a SmartTV which would emulate the phone into a remote/keyboard when linked/Corresponds with Swype Gesture
*Release Date:
June-July 2013

People in my area seam to think the note 2 is a bar of gold. They have them priced close to and even above what you can buy them new no contract price. While they are pricing the s3 around 250. Plus I had the note 1 and hated the size. I am an update junky which is why I am thinking about it.

That said I'm impressed with the Optimus G, based on feel and hardware I would pick the LG phone, but I am very pleased with my S3. The performance and battery life of the LG is amazing, also black is a good color for a phone.
Lovin' my rooted S3 running stock 4.2.1 but if you're not into rooting N4 is a great choice especially the price of it. Can't really go wrong with either imo. It all comes down to preference

Actually, the Nexus 4 and the Optimus G have the same processor. S4 Pro. The Note II uses Samsung's own quad core processor (same as the S3 International)
Its like comparing apples to oranges. The Optimus G has no dev support, so that's a no go for me. Also heard the camera is brutal in low light. Yet the phone has some amazing specs for a decent price.
The Nexus 4 has amazing specs, and for the price nothing beats it. I can live with no expandable memory as long as I got 16GB. Hilariously, people are selling them for $500 to $600 because they are hard to get. I'll just wait till its back in stock.
And the golden Note II. I'll get one some day. But not for $650 to $800. Imagine telling my wife we can't afford the mortgage this month cause I bought a phone Lol. Almost as stupid as people paying over $800 for a iPhone 5. Ludicrous.

Correct, that's my mistake I thought the Note II featured the same S4 Pro found in the Optimus G and Nexus 4. The international Note II and apparently the US versions as well have the slightly upgraded Exynos 4212 @ 1.6ghz compared to the original 1.4ghz 4212 found in the International S3. To be fair though the S4 Pro might be a tad bit faster and more secure, not sure if you heard about the Exynos kernel exploit but the S4 Pro seems a bit of a better option at this point.

if you go on the Nexus 4 forum, you'll see a lot of complain about the battery.
And according to this test : http://mobileraptor.blogspot.ca/2012/12/google-nexus-4-battery-life-tests.html
if you only use your nexus to make call, you'll be fine. However, for everything else, the battery drains a lot faster than the GS3 :

S3 lags. But Nexus 4 is a different case. It never stutters when transitions between apps to apps and open a new app unlike the S3 which I hate that problem a lot on my S3. I believed that Samsung screwed up the Project Butter for all Mali 400MP devices.

Note 2 uses exynos 4412 not 4212, s4 pro is definitely better soc compared to exynos 4412

Multisample anti-aliasing (MSAA) is a technique used to improve image quality. Since the Gnex has a GPU capable of supporting MSAA, this setting should make your graphics look more detailed when you are playing advanced games. Keep in mind this will also cause your GPU to work harder and your device may get hotter and consume more power than normal.

This needs to be like a GPU/CPU discussion bcuz I don't know why I get so much lag if I have a dual core with a gig of ram

My GNex has the same specs as my laptop and I'm pretty sure my laptop can run any of these games without lag

Maybe its just my phone but I have zero lag with any game. Nova 3, MC4, NFS MW, RR3, and even Asphalt 7 run flawlessly. I'm on stock Sprint 4.2.1 with stock kernel too.

This phone has a better GPU than the iPhone 4 but not as good as the 4s. The 4 has a 535, ours is a 540 and the 4s is a 543. Our phone may have last gen specs but it'll still run ANYTHING thrown at it.

Finally some answers ! Lol I'll try stock with stock kernel and give u my feed back

OK, so very minor miniscule lag with mc4 and nova 3 but nothing bad. Still extremely smooth. Graphics are slightly lower quality than the 543 GPU but a sacrifice I'm willing to pay for such good quality. Now I don't know if my phone being Sprint changes anything but I hope I helped some. Lol

And yes 2gb and quad core is the normal but there's isn't one game out that harnesses that power yet. Even the latest Real Racing 3 doesn't harness that power quite yet. I had the Optimus G with the powerhouse Adreno 320 GPU and quad core S4 pro processor and it even had some lag in big games. Its all about optimization. These companies have optimized for our GPU because its still an extremely popular architecture (even the new iPhone 5 has the 543 GPU). Sorry for the long post. Lol

The only time I noticed anything period is the very beginning beach level and the very first big fire fight when you play as the bad guy. Other wise every other scene and level ran pretty smooth. No reduction in timing or anything. I get menu lag but no game lag which I find odd.
