[Q] Camera recording sound - HTC One X

Hi,
Quick question about the way this device records sound. Its by far the best phone ive ever used to record sound, however i keep running into a problem with volume levels. It never stays constant and fluctuates depending on whether the sound is loud or quiet.
Now that wont make sense at first so heres a link to a video i shot in the studio with some friends.

Note at around 2:20 in the volume changes quite dramatically. I assure you, in real life the volume of the sound was constant throughout the song, the only change was that both guitars had stopped playing, thus decreasing the decibel level slightly (the guitar sounds at that point were from the effects pedals), which surely wouldve made it quieter if anything
I dont believe this a manufacturing defect as ive had it on the past 4 HOX's i owned, but perhaps more to do the way the sound is processed. It is the same result recording in mono/stereo/720/1080 etc.
EDIT Just remembered, i had to turn my speakers up all the way to hear that properly so the recording level is far too quiet as it is. I can barely hear it through the phones speaker.

Yeah got same problem,
I did turn the stereo off in video options which did improve it. Give it a go and turn the Stereo feature off.
The sound was not dropping as much,
I tested this out at a footy match.

Thats a temporary fix i suppose, it did improve it though it didnt fix it for me.
Does anybody know if this is something that is likely to be resolved by a software update? Or can anybody recommend any apps to record this type of thing with if it is a software issue.

Poor audio performance (NOT a Bluetooth issue)

After trying out the bass/treble adjustment tool here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...tdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=dspen&start=0
I have now found my mp3 playback with WMP9 and voice directions on PrymeNav gps both adversely affected. I get short duration interruptions that sound like little skips. I removed the program but the problem persists. I actually can not say positively that this problem with sound happened right after the install, but I didn't install anything else either. Sound quality now is quite low, would love to get back original sound quality.

[Q] JB Low Audio

I've been trying to find a way to counter the low audio output from the Gnex. I thought the volume was an ICS issue considering the phone's output can handle quite alot more than the silent cricket whispering output it already has. Just when I thought JB had fixed this issue, turns out it hasn't. It's still the same old intensely low audio output.
I've tried almost everything, franco kernel app, Put the phone on Level 3 Ezkeel's MOD and high audio output, Volume+ (Seems to have no effect on JB, perhaps in need of an update?), Equalizer (Crashes instantly, can't even set options or anything)
With headphone's the phone's a BEAST. No doubt about it, Love it. But I can't seem to hear my calls and messages. It's either upset colleagues or an upset gf that assumes I'm ignoring them. Regardless, both are out to get me. I'd love to hear my phone ringing when I'm outside, But it seems "Air" is alot louder than my phones audible level, can't even hear it ringing in my own pocket!
That modded JellyBean rom with Awesome Beats or whatever sounded the loudest in my testing. Of course I wasn't really paying attention at the time or I would've got my old phone out and a decibel meter app to test it .
Hmm. Going to attempt something later today
Not to get off topic here, but I installed CM9 RC and it has higher audio levels than stock, but after it finishes playing any sound on the speaker, a second or 2 later you get this pop or click (assumably the speaker turning off). Not only is that annoying, doesn´t that damage the speaker?
Does this modded Jelly Bean ROM do something similar?

That would damage it in the sense, slowly though. It's like forcing a higher level of output than it can handle. Normally the sound should fade, but if it pops that can damage the speaker. Also the JellyBean is pretty legit from Google. Low audio but nothing ezekeel audio mods can't fix

Sound problem after Firmware 14.5

Hi,
i got the Firmware Update from 14.5 today. Is there anywhere a changelog, what is new with this update??
Because after i installed it and the Surface rebooted the icons on Metro UI where smaler than before, so that there where one more icon in each column. After i started some apps and come back to the metro UI the icons where at the "normal" size, it was before the update. So was that only for me?? Should the icons be smaller, or what happend??
The smaller icons looked a bit better
Read http://www.microsoft.com/Surface/en-US/support/performance-and-maintenance/rt-update-history
Thanks, have the icons become smaller??

That's an oddity that happens occasionally, there's been a number of reports of it happening. If you want to have more icons there's a thread floating around here somewhere that has a registry tweak that can do it.
Thanks for the info.
But now i have an other real problem. When Hearing Music quietly the Sound changes all the time between a higher and lower Sound Level. Only when i have it loud enought the Sound has a constand volume. Thats realy annoying. Is there something known?
And it depens on the song i hear. For some Songs i Need to listen with volume louder than 8 for other it Need to be louder than 4 to have a constand volume. But it doesn't matter if it is YouTube app, in browser, or the Music app.
Only when using headphones there is no problem.
I hope you can help me.
I seem to have that problem too. When listening to music through the speakers at low volume it cuts in and out. Mainly near the end of a track. Thought it may be a buffering issue initially as was streaming, but it's the same with local files.
Quite unsatisfactory.
Yes that's exactly my problem. It depens on the song you listen. Is there a fix for that?? Does everybody have this problem??
The only solution I've found is to rock out louder :highfive:
Had the Problem at Volume lvl 14, too. And at an other RT it's the same. for sure The last Update was s**t
I was playing with the audio on mine yesterday, here's my observations:
The audio level is uneven when it's at low volume (it seems to fluctuate maybe 10-15% when it's below around 40 on mine)
I can only tell a minuscule difference between audio at 50% and audio at 100%, whereas audio at 10% is drastically quieter than at 50%
It does seem to be louder, but since it fluctuates so much <40% for me and I prefer to listen to it quieter at night to not disturb others it's largely worthless.
I'm not noticing any of these issues when I use a USB headset.
Edit: After a reboot I no longer notice the audio level fluctuations.

[Q] mic sounds really bad

Every time I record audio with my phone (mostly voicenotes on whatsapp) the sound is really bad, I can hear myself clearly but I get so much background noise, and If I record a song that's playing it sounds real loud and messed up. Nobody has ever comlpained about the sound when they talk to me on the phone but compared to many other phones I've had I find this one to have bad mic quality. Am I the only one who feels this way? if not then has anyone tried some sort of fix for this? (assuming my phone isn't actually broken lol)

Strange vibration noise

Hi everyone, to those who received their oneplus 5T, I got a question for you.
Have you all hear a strange noise after each vibrates? Basically, I've been hearing a strange and non-consistent "raindrop" sound after each vibrates.
When I turn on vibrate on tap and set the intensity to high, I can hear this sound after the vibration motor triggers.
Has anyone else experience such issues?
Here is the sound file I uploaded for better clarification:
https://soundcloud.com/xiang-pan-1/strange-oneplus-5t-vibration-sound
I hear that on mine as well.
I have a similar experience. However it's very quiet (I don't know how high you numbed up the volume, but I don't have it that hard) and not all the time.
I think I know why:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/vibration-on-the-5t.695633/
It's the combination of the speaker and vibration. So no hardware fault. Or at least, I think it's not.
Way to reproduce this sound: Go to settings - sounds - incoming call vibration pattern
Play a little bit and you should hear the "Raindrop" sound.
After you connect some headphones it's totally gone. So hopefully it can be fixed with a software update.
Weird.. I don't hear it when I do that. I only hear it when the speaker is on. Like when unlocking your phone, the speaker will stay one for a couple of seconds (very quite noise, is normal). When you use your home bottom fast a couple of times after unlock you hear the raindrop. When the speaker totally turns off after a couple of seconds you don't hear it anymore.
I think it's due to the vibration resonating with the speaker when on (try it for yourself). This also explains why you don't hear it when using headphones.
The sound is so minimal many users don't realize it I think. It's not a hardware fault I'm guessing, more a disign thing.
I'm having this problem too.. only after the speaker is activated.
Everyone who notice it, please also let know on the OnePlus forum here, also for more information about it (It's probably design related):
