[Q] Mounting Thumbdrive (xperia pro mk16i GB.62) - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I have the latest GB on my phone of course with root acces and busybox, and i read this topic and tried out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224676
I have already had USB-OTG but not the ability to mount a thumbdrive so I have downloaded the usb-storage.ko kernel object and placed it system/lib/modules folder and given him a proper permission and wrote these lines to the hw_konfig.sh
insmod /system/lib/modules/usb-storage.ko
sleep 1
so when the phone starts the the object starts too and ehen I list the mods the usb-storage.ko is there aswell, when i plug the usb drive it's led starts blinkink and when i check the sda-s it is listing it. and i have the proper folder on the sdcard with the proper permissons (777)
FTR
when i write
ls -l /dev/block/sd*
i have the same exact messege

The question is:

[Q] MicroSDHC Card Issue

Just got a new SanDisk Ultra 32 GB MicroSDHC C10 card. I formatted it through Settings -> More -> Storage -> Format SD card. It formats it:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Whenever I try to copy files using Android Command, I either get "Permission Denied" or "No such file or directory" errors:
If I start up an FTP server, I can copy files through WiFi. I swapped out the new 32GB one with my old 8GB one and Android Commander can copy files fine. Any idea why AC can copy to the 8GB but not the 32GB? I don't want to upload 20GB worth of stuff through WiFi when I was able to do it through my USB cable. :silly:
UPDATE: Okay got it figured out in case anyone it happens to anyone else.
1) Reinstalled Busy Box.
2) Rebooted phone.
3) Enabled Insecure ADBD
Forgot to enable insecure adbd and AC was showing no root access. Enabled it, restarted AC and was able to copy some files but would eventually give this error:

UGH. Any ideas?

[Q] Help on Missing Files and Folders

I have noticed something weird with my device. When I connect my device into a computer or laptop running on Windows 7 and then view the contents of my "sdcard folder" or the /storage/emulated/0/ directory, there are some files and folders that can't be seen.
Those files and folders, however, can be viewed in an explorer app within the device such as Root Explorer or if I access my device from my computer through SSHDroid using WinSCP or command terminal like Putty.
I'm attaching a screen shot of what it looks like.

Do anyone here knows what's the issue in here, what caused this, and a way to fix this?
I'm running on stock rom 6.0.1 build number MMB29V, and my device is rooted.
Thanks in advance!
open Media Storage settings
clear data
reboot
@{fd}ware, I had the settings in Windows correctly. I learned from further reading from other sources that this isn't about the Windows Explorer settings. It was about the media storage rebuilding or refreshing.
Just like what @k23m responded, I have to clear media storage data and reboot the device to rebuild it.

CD Installer USB option - possible to repurpose?

When I plug my phone into my PC it offers me the option to expose the phone as a virtual CD ROM drive presumably mounting an ISO on the filesystem.

Think it'd be possible to change the ISO to mount windows 10 or linux live CDs?
edit: Seems the file mounted is /system/etc/PCTOOL.iso and seems like my PC would boot from it...
This is that the drivedroid app does, if that helps any

If you replace /system/etc/PCTOOL.ISO with another valid ISO file, that'll mount when you choose that option. This was done a long time ago on the EVO 4G LTE. The ISO was replaced with adb & fastboot tools and an automatic command prompt.
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720559
I don't see why something like that can be done on the 10 as well.
P.S. At one point I even tried running Ubuntu from it, but that got crazy, lol
Drivedroid requires root, was more of a thought exercise to avoid rooting the device.

[PIE] Can't choose "use as device storage" with new sdcard

Hi,
I recently inserted a sdcard in my Galaxy S9 Exynos running Pie. The OS asks me if I want to use the sdcard as extra phone storage or as portable storage, but I can only choose the latter - the button for the first option is grayed out. Any ideas what might be the reason for that?

Click to collapse
Thanks for the answer - doesn't work though
Samsung for some reason turned off anything that has to do with an external SD card for the pie beta whether they keep it that way for the actual release we wont know until its fully released bt starting with android marshmallow it introduced something called adoptable storage, this feature that allows you to use a SD Card as internal storage so now you can at least access the stuff on your sd card

Nook BNRV520 unregistered error when rooting

Hello!
I've trying to get root on nook. It gives just neverending 'registering' screen
It coonected with adb drivers and when i've launch root application I've got such screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
How can I root this nook?
Thank you
Starting at the bottom screen:
I don't know which script (batch file) this "rootnook" is.
Apparently it is too picky about the version of adbd on your Glow2.
You can try to delete the line that causes it to stop.
The "find" and "findstr" appear to say "is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
I don't know if your Windows doesn't have them or if they are named something else.
You can check by just typing:
Code:
C:\>find /?
C:\>findstr /?
The top screen we don't even know what command/script you tried.
It looks like you tried something and used the word "files" instead of an actual path.
The error looks like something out of the Glow2 shell
Code:
# busybox stat files
stat: can't stat 'files': No such file or directory
If instead of taking a graphic screen shot you should copy and paste the text and put it inside [code] & [/code]
so that those of us who don't speak Russian can more easily translate it.
How did I get that to work?
Code:
[b][code[b]][/b][/b] & [b][/code[b]][/b][/b]
