Swype help - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

ok this maybe the wrong place to ask not sure. I have just signed up on xda even though I have used and learned allot for months now by reading and following instructions. Thanks to all including phantom since his ROM has been my daily driver. now on to my question. I have tried the ics version while stable I went back to GB version till a few more kinks are worked out. On blazers ics and a few other rooms I tried they had the Swype keyboard that had the numbers across the top row. how can I get that keyboard on GB blazer. Its a much better layout to me at least. I tried to find an apk looked in forums googled it and maybe i'm just not looking right. Any help on updated Swype?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

I assume you are rooted. The very first thing that crosses my mind to do so is:
If you have a backup of old rom that has this keyboard your asking for or if you have the original rom that has it in zip format:
On your laptop, extract the zip.
Go to system/apps
Look for the keyboard apk. Copy it.
Go to your current rom zip.
Extract it
Place the apk in the same path or where it should belong to.
Zip the rom again.
Flash it again.

go into Applications>All>Swipe and clear cache AND data.
Then in Language and input check the 'settings' for swipe and make sure you have the correct language selected.
Had kind of the same issue with my nephews e4gt. Had him download the latest beta (swipe.com) and still had an issue till he did the above.
Worth a try

Thanks I will give anything a try can't stand having the numbers all bunched in the middle.

You could also try touchpal keyboard in market. Pretty much the same thing but less of a hassle to install.

You could go to the swype beta website, download the swype installer and use that, it installs latest swype, which is what your talking about with the numbers on top

...

If you run blu kuban its in the ROM updater.

I did get it installed through the beta installer but I have been thinking real hard of using the blue koban Rom. I run blazer now and love it but I like the mod features on bk. I just wonder how the battery life is since the other ics rooms I have tried had some battery issues.

[Q] Samsung Epic touch voice action app and widgets?

Is it possible to port the new voice actions to the epic 1 w/ the widget also?
I tried it out on my Epic and while the voice actions were really really cool imho, it seemed to lag my Epic something fierce and drained the heck out of my battery. Perhaps it truly only works best with dual-core phones. I wanted to be able to stick with it very much though.
I had the version from the Galaxy SII on my Epic 4G before the Epic Touch was released and it worked great. I also like the layout better than the version that is on my Epic Touch.
There is no lag using it on deodexed but otherwise stock EH17 with TWLauncher 4.5.
Well, I was trying the Epic 4G Touch version and I was on the stock odexed EH17 so who knows.
Does anyone have any links they'd care to share? Search isn't showing up with anything.

Calkulin's ROM (Gingerbread version, not ICS) or Blazer ROM. Don't flash ICS ROMs as they have the potential to perma-brick your phone.
Don't listen to this guy he knows nothing. Flash the goodness rom for a great ics experience. Calk gb rom is great, his current ics build is stable but horrible battery life. Long story short flash slim n trim, the goodness, or cm9 just make sure you flash from gb el26 kernel with cwm and you have NO risk of brick at all.

Says the guy with 3 thanks and 62 posts. I worked in a Sprint store as a technician; trust me I know what I'm talking about. Yes, you can circumvent the issues by doing what you said (flashing a Gingerbread kernel), but one misstep and you're screwed. I said nothing wrong; this guy just got his phone and he said he's still trying to get the hang of things, so like I said, I don't recommend flashing an ICS ROM [right away].

Pretty good. I've owned a LOT of phones since the Evo 4G (which is still one of if not my favorite). The Epic Touch is a solid phone and will chew and spit out anything you throw at it (especially high-end games like GTA 3, Shadowgun, Riptide, etc). The camera is amazing too. You're gonna have a blast with this thing. I'm actually buying an international GS3 and heading to Straight Talk though, so I'm selling my Sprint GNexus soon.

Nothing; when Sprint runs out of supply of a phone, the system offers other phones that are usually of the same tier or better (iPhone is an exception, will never be offered or repaired by Sprint). Some reps will be nice and give you a list of choices, but most of the time they'll tell you what they've chosen for you. It's really up to the manager.

I really wish people would do more research before saying such things. Yes, there is a chance of a brick, but it has been figured out now and some safe ICS options have been developed. Check out the Development thread and look at agat63 and sfhub's offerings at the very least.

Agreed, if people read and follow the instructions, including familiarizing themself with the How not to brick your E4GT thread (link below), then bricking becomes a lesser threat.

Options from Stock to AOSP possibilities. I would much enjoy being able to switch back and forth, even if it's between CM10 and AOKP, without the hassle of having to backup, restore, etc. And from what I've heard of dual booting on Android devices, the apps stay up to date with eachother. Like data from apps, and text messages will carry over etc. But I may be wrong.
It would be nice to be able to have a stock image as well as your favorite rom so for GPS issues and prl/profile issues you could just boot back to stock real quick, update and then be on your way.
Dual booting is possible.
If the I9100 developers can do it, so can we... We just need a kernel that makes this possible.
Here is a link to the Siyah kernel which has dual boot capabilities.

Either him or agat, and possibly get the Siyah dev to jump in. A combination of all 3 would make one awesome kernel.

Dual booting is not impossible, but the bootmanager app which allows booting numerous roms from sd would need an entirely separate app for our device due to the zImage needing to be implemented into a bootmanager specifically for devices with zImage kernels. Combining it into the existing version is impossible due to the boot from sd function needing

When i go to recovery i first do the wipes. Then i try to flash. Only kernels or recoveries successfully flash. is it a bad zip.
Ps. I have to download directly to my phone cause. I don't have enough patience for Centry Links 75kbps download speeds. If there's a problem with that. Hey thanks guys for everything, that's kind of what I figured. Although with the wild for night build I had a ton of problems, even on the latest nightly. But I think my wife is just too picky, I even got her back to stock jelly bean rom and she didn't like it, but she didn't like the ice cream sandwich she was on either (stock).
