[Q] Where to buy GSM Galaxy Nexus NOW in US? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

What is the best place to buy the GSM Galaxy Nexus currently that actually has the device in stock?
It seems like prices have been increasing recently. Less than a month ago on May 31 the device could be had for a mere $370 including tax and shipping from eBay DailySteals. Then it was $390 on Amazon including tax and shipping. Prices at Amazon have been creeping up slowly since and now Expansys is out of stock. Google Play puts it at about $445 including tax and shipping. Newegg still seems to have it for $410 including tax and shipping. Is there anything better out there?

Don't buy a Samsung product, look at all the complaints first about the GN. It seems nice since its a google experience, I would wait for the Iphone 5 honestly, can't wait to make the transition!

ignore the troll lol, the phone is amazing. It does have lag, i hate to admit it but it's fact but after ROM's and kernels you will barely notice it(im not i love the gnex i just won't lie to myself about an inevitable fact) the play store would be the best place to get it tho. It's the only way of getting it in the US with a proper warranty and you get better support.

I have the phone already. A friend is asking where to buy it.
I have the impression that they have run out of Nexuses (Expansys) or are at least running quite low (Amazon) and that this has been affecting prices. Samsung has probably been producing S3s instead.

In the US, I would never buy the phone anywhere but Google Play. Full warranty and support and a good price.

First, call me troll if it makes you feel worthy but obviously I am not the only one with a problem, OBVIOUSLY.
Second, check again. Google only covers it for 14, then you are f***ed, I mean, stuck in Samsungs hands.....

Thanks, but I'm looking for brand-new. It seems like used prices are quite high anyway, probably because the one was never released by carrier here in the US.
Right now it seems like Newegg is the best option.

Let's get back on topic.
Either talk about where to buy as the subject says or don't post here.

Just recieved wrong Phones, no ET4G

On the phone with wirefly.com. Seems as though they've swapped shipping labels and sent me a two Nexus S's rather than my single ET4G. LoL, the saga continues. On the phone with them. Trying to figure out how I stick this to them. Hey Brian, how's my Galaxy S II? Kinda wishing you hadn't gone for the free Nexus S's for free with a 2 year agreement huh? What are these people thinking?

You gotta live under a rock to be on a hundred and thirty dollar a month family plan, sign up for 2 years and get not 1 but 2 free Nexus S's. If he is the one that ended up with my GSII hopefully that's his wake up call. I'm about to call him and tell him to tell wirefly to keep the nexus and send him GSII's lol. I got his number. I feel sorry for him.

I would hit them hard on shipping and on % taking off the price of my device. I would let them know how desperate I was for this phone and how upset the contents of this package made me. We'd be on the phone for about a hour talking that one out because now I have to wait for the device to be shipped again?
I would even slide in a BB complaint if they didn't feel like coming to an agreement with me. This is a pretty large mistake. One a company shouldn't make with a high end device during it's first week of demand.
Edit: I misunderstood. So they are having you take care of the problem? Is it local? And yea, I would try to have wirefly send them 2 GSII's. That would be one very confused family to find one phone in their box.
They're sending out my gsII expedited with a free bluetooth headset

The other family ordered two Nexus S's not GSII's, I have them. About to ship them back to wirefly. Instead of receiving two Nexus S's they received a single ET4G. I hope they open it up and fall in love with it and cancel their order and order two ET4G's instead. It's a shame their signing 2 year agreements with the previous model.

Ridiculous crap screen

I already have a CDMA Verizon nexus.
I order a GSM nexus and got it yesterday.
The difference between the two screens is so ridiculously noticeable I want to smash the phone
The original verizon one is vibrant and bright.
The new gsm one is dull looking. it flickers slightly when I do solid color tests. whites look dull.
Absolute fricken BULL ****.
Go eat **** google
Dont feed the troll my little [put in any word].
Maybe you just got a bad one?
Thought about it?
I've had both and never noticed a difference between the two. Maybe something is wrong with your new one.
Its a common thing as ive read in other posts but its googles fault for allowing it to happen.
You know Google doesn't manufacture the phones, right?
Increase brightness

It is actually the manufacturing facility's quality control that has failed. Google is just the point of sale. You don't get mad at Best Buy and call them F Ups if a PlayStation bought there is a lemon, why should this be different because it is Google?

He a troll, anybody with half a brain would just ask for a replacement if it was that bad/defective. I got a lemon evo 3d,, posting a thread bashing the phone isn't gonna fix it, Radio Shack replaced it immediatly. In before lock!
I received a terrible screen from Verizon for my first phone. I was dull, and had weird banding and a dead pixel... They did t believe me until I made them compare mine to a display model. The only issue I had getting a new one was that I had accidentally let the play store re download titanium backup. They then tried to say I was rooted, root checker failed, then they tried to aay the app broek my screen.....
Tl;Dr just get a replacement and stop whining.

NO its about a huge inconsistency in screen quality from nexus to nexus, amoled to amoled.
THE SAD THING IS, most people WOULD NEVER KNOW, because you cant tell how ****y your screen is until you compare it to a non ****y one

i'm going to make this simple for you since you clearly have no understanding of how this all works.
google hired samsung to manufacture the phone.
samsung makes phone and QC checks their batches.
samsung then packages and sends phones to google for sale
google takes ALREADY PACKAGED PHONES IN THE BOX and sells them
do you honestly believe google is going to open up sealed boxes and check every phone? if you do, you are completely insane and need to be checked in somewhere.

Please tell me you've never, in the history of your life, purchased a product, brought it home only to open the package to find its defective. Tell me you never had to return a product to get a replacement, or simply return a product because you weren't happy with it??
If you haven't - then you have horseshoes where the sun doesn't shine... Products aren't HANDMADE anymore... quality control nowadays goes as far as checking 2 or 3 phones out of hundreds on a production line.

[Q] Has anyone purchased the a GNex recently?

Yes, so far so good its the best phone I've ever had
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I did
I bought one brand new recently from Amazon, came with ICS. You can't buy the GNex from the google store in the UK, only the Nexus 7. It's a superb phone; I've had a GS2, Motorola Defy, iPhone, Galaxy Note and this is SO much better than all of them. It's all the great bits of Android with the simplicity and clean look of iOS (but it actually does stuff). I quite liked what Motorola did with Android almost better than Samsung but there's a few good bits on touchwiz. There's no doubt in my mind though that plain Android is LOADS better.
I wish some other manufacturers offered pure Android phones. WHy don't they? I don't particularly want to root my phone and install custom firmware and I really like the GNex but it'd be nice to have a choice of handset...I feel like from now on if I want to stick with neutral Android (which I do!) I'll only ever have 1 choice of phone! Why can't HTC, Motorola or Asus make a neutral Android phone?
Yes
I bought mine just a few days ago, owned a SII but wanted pure Android the Nexus
is fast and sleek with JB glad i bought it.
I bought a 2nd one last week. Still comes with ICS but got updated within the first 30 minutes.

Same here but about a month ago.
Probably be a while before they come with JB. They're not huge sellers (I see people with S2s and S3s every time I go out in London but actually have never seen anybody with a Nexus) and it's doubtful that Google would open all the boxes to upgrade them...
I just got mine from the play store the other day. as others have stated came with ICS and was immediately able to upgrade to JB. performance is very good, although first thing I did was install CNA 3.5 and franco nightly kernel
I bought mine last week from the Play store, which stated that it comes with JB. The unit arrived Wednesday and had ICS. It immediately began downloading the JB update. A little irritating that they do that, but eh, it was over soon enough.

Petty to complain about paying $350 for something and finding out it wasn't what you paid for? Most people would complain if that's what they got on a $5 purchase...
Nonetheless, it's not a "I'm going to call Google and complain" type of complaint. It's more of a "buyer beware" issue. It's good to give the market feedback so people know what they can possibly expect.

Whether an ota or not its the same jb. It was what you paid for a gnex that is running the latest jb available from the carrier. There is nothing for a buyer to beware about. Jb capable doesn't mean preloaded. Should a waited a few weeks or a month longer it would be preloaded once old stock sells. Just to be clear I would be the first to complain if it said that and there was no ota.

There's absolutely a Buyer Beware issue. You (and many others on here) probably have reliable, fast internet. I don't. I, unfortunately, live in a very rural area with unreliable dialup. I tried a few times to update via an internet connection share, but it kept failing. Since I didn't want to load all my work onto it without first updating, I drove 35 miles to the nearest free wifi spot and sat for an hour to get it. All said and done, I'm out several hours, plus about $15 in fuel, and an evening doing that when I could have spent it doing any number of more meaningful things.
Now you may think "who cares?" Anyone else in the same situation, of course. Which is why I posted that information in a forum where someone had asked for our experiences. Because, to someone in my situation, that's pretty useful information.
I'm sorry I don't happen to be exactly like you. Everyone is different, and just because it is no big deal to you doesn't mean it's not a big deal to anyone else. I downplayed all that in my original post because it wasn't really relevant. It's enough to tell others "It doesn't come preloaded with JB the way they advertise it" or some such message.
---------- Post added at 07:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:22 PM ----------
I should probably add that they don't advertise it "JB ready" as you say, but rather (from the website):
OS
Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
That's from the specs on the phone. Not "soon to be 4.1 with a minor update." Again, I think it's entirely okay to dislike lies in advertising.

Soon enough, or 35 mile drive and an hour wait? Are you just annoyed somebody disagreed with you so decided to make up a little story to make your complaint more valid?
Anyway, if you can't even download a 100MB update what's the point in having a smartphone anyway...do you have to drive another 35 miles every time there's a 10MB maps update? Sometimes where you live precludes you from having the latest technology. That's just how it is. My Dad can't get fast enough internet to stream Lovefilm or Netflix, but he just deals with it, he doesn't buy a Google TV box then start complaining about it.
There should be no buyer beware on this. Nobody thinks that as soon as software is released you'll immediately get it on all the sealed brand new units. It's a BIT dodgy to actually say 'it has JB on it right now' when it doesn't, but 'have JB' and 'will DL JB soon as you turn it on and connect'...is that really that much different? I get what you're saying but when you buy a brand new Windows 7 laptop you have to install updates as soon as you turn it on...not quite the same but I think you're being pedantic.
And no...I have no home internet or 4g I downloaded my ota over 3g.

It doesn't say anywhere it comes preloaded with jb either. Os says 4.1 Jellybean and it is running 4.1 Jellybean he assumed preloaded. "Assumptions are the mother of all fudge ups" paraphrased of course. So again no buyer beware issue. Assumption issue

The thing is, i haven't really used my stylus in any real sense, and it was really the main reason I got the device...also the multi-window. I have no experience selling phones, what's the best way to do this? Any advice would be great. my phone is under contract. is there issues i need to know about?

My best advice would be to shop around.. EBay and Craig's list would b good places to get a idea of a fair price.. EBay auctions definately because the buyers set the price.. Just b sure to shop around and don't stop on 1 price.. Good luck to u..

Your best option if your not familiar in selling is to use swappa.com. It's a great way to sell your phone. No eBay fees and only charge is the $10 you pay after selling phone. Just remember to calculate shipping costs on your asking price. And don't sell yourself short if your phone really is in good condition. Just look at previous sold phones and what they sold for and base it on that.
Other option is Craigslist. Only problem with this is you'll get lots of spam emails and hagglers trying to get a great phone at a cheap price. But if you somehow find someone that is worth it you keep all the profit. Just make sure you sell in a public place and take a counterfeit money pen to make sure your not being duped. Best thing is to meet at a Sprint store.
Good luck. If you have any questions feel free to message me. I do this all the time. Have sold my last 2 phones on swappa and a couple on Craigslist.

Swappa is becoming the best place to sell your phone since they only charge 1 fee. The only other fee you pay is with PayPal once you get paid. You must use PayPal. They also only sell phones that are in working condition and with clean esn. So far more and more people shop and sell on swappa. You can even link your phone sale on Twitter and Facebook. Just go on there and look at info they give you before you sell. It's easy and if your price seems high you can compare it to other phones and see how much they sold for. You can even lower the price anytime you want, or raise it.

I just checked local Craigslist, cheapest I've seen for a Sprint Note-2 is $400, seen one that was flashed to Cricket for $349. Most are 400 and up.
Thanks guys. Very helpful

All my phones have been sold through eBay. Even after the fees and PayPal fees, I feel that's where I pocket the most money after the sale. That also include shipping.
HAHA. MultiView - watching movies with GPS on the other screen.
Not to hijack the thread @THE op.. But you can sell a phone that's under contract right and avoid fees with a phone not being on the line by just getting a cheap phone to put on it until you sell the main phone right?

went mildly crazy and decided to buy the HTC One.
anyone interested?
Comes with 2 iSmooth screen protectors (the 3rd is installed...semi-perfectly, with a lint trapped in the upper left side, away from the screen) + sprint body glove case + all accessories, and original box.
looking for whatever the lowest in price in swappa. shipping included. this is the titanium version.
Caveat though, I can't ship it until I receive my new phone.
They go on Craigslist for $500 id sell mine for 450 in pristine condition. Thinking about the LG Optimus bro I cannot go back to something smaller

Same here. Got the S7 Edge on Tmobile Jump on Demand. If the 8 comes out and impresses us enough I may go to that in the spring/summer. Missing the Note. But the S7 edge is certainly holding its own

I wonder if any devs are planning to keep their unit?
At this point it's more a study in human psychology than a device forum. You have venting posts from those that are pissed about what they endured, genuine hardship stories from those that bought third party that are orphans, and those in denial rationalizing away the incident and bolstering each others reasoning for keeping the phone. You normally have to pay for theatre this good.
I have a replaced note 7, I will wait the s8 launch, here my carrier will honor the 1 year warranty period, and, for that period, the exchange as well, so, in the meantime, I will enjoy my note 7, and, if I decide within the warranty period, will get a full refund, it is win-win situation!

No one, at least no authorized dealer, is going to repair a Note7 under warranty or for cash. If something happens to it and if whatever that something is falls under warranty you'll be give the option of exchanging the phone for something else. To repair a recalled phone and put it back in the owner's hands is irresponsible and leaves whoever did it liable should the phone have an incident.

Don't forget, you also have the morally superior and socially responsible people who know far better than anyone else, who are happily and vigorously spewing toxic file hate towards anyone who's still using the phone and even remotely contemplates the idea of keeping it, or even keeping it for a short period of time until they can figure out what phone to replace it with.

It may even be illegal to do that in Canada. Possibly illegal in the USA too.
I know in Canada, you can't give or sell a recalled product to anyone (unless they are involved in the recall and you are giving it to them to give your device back under that recall). I kind of wonder if a business would be liable under the consumer protection and safety act if they repaired a recalled product and gave it back. I assume they would, because they knowingly gave someone (a customer, no less), a recalled and "dangerous" product.

Yeah seems like many are scoffing at people still using the device until they can replace it which is amusing ....and I can do even better than that .I returned and got a refund for my first one, then quickly realized i made a mistake getting rid of it so got another one lol.
Simple fact is there is not currently anything on the market which can replace it at least for me.
And anyone who has a problem with that, tell someone who cares what you think because I dont
Illegal or not they can still be bought and be repaired.... if parts are available which admittedly would likely be an issue.

You must be morally bankrupt! Where is your sense of social responsibility and justice?
Think of the children!
If it only saves one life, it's worth it!
Who even NEEDS a phone like the Note 7 anyways? I mean, really, phones like that have no place in a civilized society.
Hey! Waiting for Samsung to ship me the "explosion proof box" to ship my phone back to Samsung.

I just arranged an appointment to have my Note 7 returned on 3 November.
I am still sticking around because I am waiting for a report from Samsung, explaining what caused the batteries to combust.
Hey! And I'm with the other guy, this is better then any movie out right now. There is great drama on this forum. We have elation, sorrow, revenge, love, hate, and everything between.
I hate you all. I love you. It's outrageous. It's fantastic.

my phone went back and I've moved on, but still watch this just to see when the problem is actually stated and to see if the people sticking with the phone blow up.
