Connecting NFC with desktop - NFC Hacking

I hope this is the right place for it since its about NFC, but I was wondering if there is something like a NFC transmitter that you can plug into your computer so then I can use it with my phone to get a website on my phone that I was reading or just transfer data between the phone and computer easier.
Thanks!

NFC has a slow transfer rate, so it would be a bad choice for transferring files.

If you mean as if to have your desktop pc follow commands from say an nfc tag you would need an nfc device for your pc. I've had one for awhile you can get a basic one for about 50$ maybe less. Or if your really into nfc you can get one that you can do all sorts of cool stuff with. Popular nfc online stores sell them.

Btw. You could just get one of the nfc devices that connects via usb.

What kind of puter? You got the right samsung drivers?
I tried on my laptop (Mac) and desktop (windows) and yes they have the right drivers
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Well your mac laptop won't need drivers. If it's plugged in and your phone has the settings box checked for "MTP" then it'll be recognized. Did you download Android File Transfer? You'll need it to transfer files.
Is USB debugging checked? If so, uncheck it and try to install the drivers again. If you can't, shoot me your Gmail and I'll help you through G Talk.
Custom kernel? Make sure USB fast charge is off.
Ok! I tried the new cable that came with the replacement and it works just fine... its weird that the cable I have is not working anymore..

I got a replacement made in Korea... is there any reputation about it.. cuz I'm getting signal drops every minute, literately!

"Made in Korea" means it was manufactured by Samsung directly and not outsourced to some factory in China.
If you're unhappy with the signal drops you can try to get another replacement, or look at the threads here on signal drops for solutions
Yeah! I'm looking for ways to fix it.. but the one I had was made in china and was brilliant no drops nor anything. I curse the day I dropped and cracked the screen.. do you think I can just go to the Verizon store and ask them for a replacement

If you're within the return period, they will replace your device no questions asked. If you're over it, it would depend on the store you go to but more likely than not you have a good chance.
Just make sure you're stock and not rooted
I called yesterday and after a couple of minutes well an hour to be exactly they're going to send me a new device. That's what she said. But since today is 4th of July the phone should be here by tomorrow..

Does bluetooth work now with bluetooth dongle?

And if so with what rom, will it work with jellybean?
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using xda app-developers app
It works with an otg USB adapter, any rom using kernel 3.0.x
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda app-developers app
Could i have a link that shows which bluetooth dongle works for you?
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using xda app-developers app
So I keep reading, a lot, that otg and dongle work, but then nobody shows how or what brand...
Does it work or are all of these posts saying its works just repeating what they have read?
[I really dont think people should be posting answers in an FAQ if they are just repeating others words]
I have looked and looked and I can not find anything beyond the same reply: "OTG cable and dongle"
If someone can share a link/thread that shows actual success with a Bluetooth dongle and results that would be great!
Thanks!

It doesn't work, there's no driver support in any Kf ROM for any type of Bluetooth dongle.
These posters have all read it doesn't work, they just refuse to believe it.
I have heard that people have claimed success with dongle
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using xda premium
I said that the only way it will work is with an otg cable and a Bluetooth dongle. You still do need drivers for it to work.

People are getting confused here, and that's understandable.
Before Bluetooth was around and usable on PCs, you used to be able to buy keyboards with an adapter that would sit in the USB port. They would only work with that specific keyboard and nothing else. They were proprietary and use the standard USB drivers apparently - Which is why the guy who is using the dongle and keyboard in the video is able to do so.
Bluetooth on the other hand is totally different, and while you need the dongle, you also need the drivers. But I think we've come far enough that no one is going to write them.

Well I brought my galaxy nexus from the crapper

Crazy story but my nexus started having this crazy charging issue which spread into a USB issue no matter the computer they would all say could not recognize This device ..I thought my phone was through because it was the international version therefore I'd have to get in contact with another country to get this resolved *sidenote I tried mobile Odin and made my phone sort of unusable for a while * ..after much debate I figured I could fix this myself ..scouring the internet seeing tons of people with the same problem I decided to repair this because it was not software and it was not gunk inside the port ..so I ordered the part and saw how relatively easy it was to repair it was ridiculously simple and here I was going to pay someone to fix it lol...thanks google and Samsung for simplicity..that being said ill fix other peoples problem if anyone has it hit me up anytime

it does work on certain laptops with only one network card, not all models though, it works on my gf's HP but not on my Toshiba.
although I highly don't recommend it, it messes with your network card drivers and I once had to format a laptop after installing it, and I work in IT so I know what I'm doing

Meenova SD card Reader

So I backed Meenova SD card reader when they first came out and I have gotten a chance to play with it now. So far. I like the capabilites that it has.
Price: $12
Its priced adequately and for those that like to store large files ( movies, music, videos) it's well worth the price.
Fuction:
the Meenova Card Reader allows you to read any micro sd card on a tablet or phone. This is especially useful if your tablet or phone does not have removable memory.
My uses:
I work in cell phone sales and this will allow me to transfer files such as contacts videos pictures much easy to certain phones that don't have removable memory. I also want to take videos that I take with my GoPro and transfer into my tablet so I can edit them and upload them much faster than I will on my laptop.
Using it:
In order to use it on your Nexus device you have to download a Nexus media manager for $3.99. It's well worth the price for being able to download and stream your video right of that the card on a non rooted Nexus. Although I did have to pay for an application, I do believe that it's a software issue with Nexus not necessarily the card player. Overall it is a perfect buy.
My opinion:
Overall I think its a phenomenal by for being able to transfer pictures movies videos contacts etc between devices with removable memory and non.

Yeah, stickmount is highly recommended. I use it with my OTG cable and connect it to both flash drives and my 2TB external HDD.
Works flawlessly! Give it a try, it's free!

I also have the otg cable and is fine for the controller and a fast data transfer, but for watching movies I guess this is much better and confortable.
I guess I'm gonna get one.
Which format is supported depends on the device and SD card, see stickmount: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400034

Waiting for mine. I only preordered so hoping it ships soon. I have an otg cable, but on long card rides I can just load up a few movies on an sdcard and plug the meenova in. Much better for my son instead of having the otg cable hanging or me having to keep on transferring files back and forth.

was checking my pre-order of 28 august (no kickstarter backing) and saw this on the site:
Pre-order shipping will start on September 18th. We expect to clear the backlog of all pre-orders by September 30th.
So it will be shipped soon now
Sure hope it ships soon. Going on a month now with no notifications....let's hope they don't rush and skimp on production quality.
