I received my Galaxy SIII on Monday and haven't been able to complete a full day with light to moderate usage. Yesterday after about 11 hours of mainly standby / light usage I had about 3% battery before I was able to charge it.
Is this normal? I'm coming from an iPhone 4 (this is my first android phone) and was quite excited about this. But if I can't make it through the day what's the point. I have noticed at times that the back of the phone can get quite warm, not hot, but definitely warm. Perhaps I have a faulty battery?
I've heard Android can be a bit notorious for poor battery life, but I didn't expect that I wouldn't be able to use it for the fear of the phone not lasting the day.
My iPhone 4 I could use it quite often throughout the day and end the day with close to 40% battery life and if needed I could last through the night well into the next day without a charge.
Will I have to carry around a spare battery / charger at all times.
Here are some screen shots from today. I've been awake and unplugged for nearly 3 hours, barely used the thing and I'm already at less than 70% with HIGH cell signal standby.

Hmm, looks like yours may be fairing better than mine based on your usage. Looks like you used it for a good 40 minutes.
When I use mine I can watch the battery percentage drop. I really hope that this is an issue with my phone and not the phone in general. I really like the phone and it's a nice change from the iPhone (little quirks here and there but still nice).
However, if the battery life is this bad (bad IMO perhaps this is actually good), then I think I'll have no choice but to return this phone - assuming I can. Otherwise I guess I'll have to drop the money for extra batteries.
I've gone as far as basically making email manual. I've turned off that stupid S-Voice thing so it won't wake up by me saying "Hi Galaxy". Guess I'll turn off WiFi and GPS (though I feel I shouldn't need to). I have battery saving mode on as well and I've dimmed the screen down to what looks like 20%...
EDIT: also, the maps that used 6% of total battery usage was me just taking a look at the widget and disabling it. Less than a minute of usage...
Your phone is not sleeping. Install better battery stats to see what is keeping it awake.

Also cell standby means you are in a low signal area which from your screenshot appears to be correct.

Do you have a recommendation for a good battery monitor? One that preferably doesn't cost money?
When it was awake I believe I had been messing around with it. I've checked it again and it hasn't been awake that often (just spurts). Looks like it's periodically syncing with my email, while I realize this will cause the battery to be drained I wouldn't expect this to be too large a deal. I would think I should be able to have my phone idle and still be able to receive emails without it causing too much of an issue. All my accounts are set-up through IMAP (minus my exchange account - which I've set-up to run manual during peak hours and check once an hour during non - peak hours) so the emails should be pushed to the device since I shouldn't be polling the servers (although it's possible I don't know too much about IMAP....).

Better battery stats is free if you search for it on XDA and from your above screenshot it is awake without the screen being on for a while. I think you have an app using up CPU processes.. poorly written apps will do this

I also found an App called Juice defender, is this something that is recommended to use?
I got the BetterBatterStats app installed. I'll do a full charge, then see what it has to say.

That's what I am here for juice defender is good for longer periods for use so yes you might want to look into it. Wifi does not automatically disable mobile data I do not believe.
I also think you can load up better battery stats right now and it will tell you data

He'll have to full charge first to get a reference point for BBS. And as far as I know, once Wi-Fi is on, mobile data is off.

I don't know, I am pretty sure I thought the same of BBS but tried it for the hell of it last time and it was able to pull my stats from the current charge because they were just pulled from the system anyways.

I just got and activated my S3 on Wednesday and am having the exact same problem. I'm also on ATT and am coming from an iphone 3GS. First day I had the S3 I barely got 8 hours out of it, most of that time in standby mode and with nothing but the stock apps installed. Yesterday I cycled the battery and drained it to completely dead to where the phone wouldn't even try to turn on. I then charged it to 100% with the phone turned off. I then unplugged it to see how much battery life it would drain on standby overnight. In about 6 hours while I was asleep it went from 100% to 93%. Then I left home and between that time and now, 7.5 hours, with minimal use which included less than 20 minutes of phone calls, downloading 3 apps, syncing email a couple of times, etc.. no games, no videos, no music, no internet browsing, nothing....
Battery is now down to 24%
Screen - 1h 42m 26%
Android OS - 10m 7%
voice calls - 17m 5%
and the rest of the stuff at about 5% or less,
basically, in 7.5 hours of doing almost nothing, with power saving mode turned on and juice defender also active, my phone has gone from 93% to 24%.
Before I got the phone I read several reviews that said the battery life on these phones was supposed to be excellent. I can't imagine that this is what would be considered excellent. My iphone, which I replaced because the battery was dying, would easily last twice as long as this and that's with heavy use including games, pandora, youtube, and internet browsing.
Aside from the short battery life I'm also experiencing horrible wifi issues. On my wifi at work it will constantly disconnect and reconnect over and over. I had my iphone sitting next to the S3 and the connection was rock solid.
I contacted samsung and ATT and they did not have any suggestions or solutions but the guy from ATT did suggest taking the phone to an ATT store and they would give me another battery to try and if that didn't work I could exchange the phone.
I hate running around exchanging stuff but I'm very disappointed with this phone so far. Half the battery life of my iphone and horrible wifi connectivity isn't what I'd expect from a phone which has been touted as being significantly better than the iphone 4S and possibly even the iphone5 when that's released.
Any suggestions? I'm really trying to love this phone but so far...meh....not so much..... I love the screen, the interface is very cool, it's lighter than my iphone, but if I can't get more than a couple of hours of very light usage and no solid wifi connectivity, I don't know.... Once I get these problems ironed out I have a couple of other total newb questions about things I need to do with it but first things first...if I can't solve these problems, this phone won't work for me. I'll probably take it to the AT&T store and talk to them about it. If I can't get is solved I'll probably exchange it, but that exchange would have to be a guarantee that I'd either get the iPhone 5 when it comes out without having to pay full price, or perhaps the HTC One X, but I hear that isn't much better either. I have a friend who has the HTC One X (or the variant of it on Sprint) and he get's two days of battery life with some gaming even.
I do not want the 4S since IMO it's a worthless upgrade from the 4.
I'm located in the suburbs of Chicago so I have 4g LTE just about everywhere, granted my signal is a bit weak in my building... by a window.
If you come up with anything let me know and vice versa.
Yeah, you're definitely not alone. I've read some other posts on this and other forums of people complaining about the same thing. I have 30 days to return it so I really want to see if I can figure out how to make it work. If not, I'm going to do the same thing you're thinking of -- take it back and hopefully they'll let me go back to using my old iphone until the iphone 5 comes out, then get that one at the new contract price. Like you, I have zero interest in the iphone 4S.
I have to say, this is really frustrating and disappointing. I was expecting an "iphone killer" and instead I've wound up with a phone that with light to normal usage is pretty much dead by 3 in the afternoon. I can't work like this.
And like you've noticed, it does charge very slowly. Even through usb my iphone would charge very fast. 20 minutes in my car would give it about 15% more charge. The S3 goes up maybe 2 or 3% in the same time. I can live with this but not with the battery life or wifi problems.
btw, I'm trying another full discharge cycle tonight to see if that helps any. I really hope I can get this resolved. When I got the phone I started shopping for accessories like a car dock, screen protector/case, etc.. and was ready to order some but held off when I saw how crappy the battery life was.
No one has said this yet, but you are using a different version of SGS3 from us. You should go over to the ATT LTE boards and get help.

I am also in the Chicago area weak signal will destroy your battery so that could have a LOT to do with it. The sprint One X also is 3G only for the time being, so it doesn't have those life-sucking "4G" issues.

Almost 2 hours of Screen On, is not bearly doing nothing. It's nearly a 5" light bulb you're leaving on.
Your signal may also not be as good as on your iphone in the same areas. But both of you seem to be on par. Yes android devices don't last as long as an iphone. There's more to do and more do on an Android than an iphone. You're also in your honeymoon stage..
Did some research found this link to force hspa so it disables lte or wont connect to it. Going to try that. Not sure if this disables the antenna and you'd still get the battery drain.

No you will not experience the battery drain if you disable LTE in this way.

If I'm understanding you correctly, are you saying that the ATT S3s are different than the other S3s and are expected to get less battery life?

I've had 3 or 4 different evo's and it's been almost impossible to receive decent battery life on almost any rom. It started with CM6 and I switched even though I loved it and went to Baked Snack or some other rom that stated battery life, but it just always ends up dropping on me no matter what. I thought my expectations were too high, I just recently got my last replacement and it's now 3-4 days old. I heard how CM7 and Miui's latest had excellent battery life so I couldn't wait to test them. I first tried CM7 and as long as it's on stand by or not being used the battery was pretty decent I guess. That's with Green Power free running btw. when I turn the phone on to start using it, the percentages just drop. Tried Miui after hearing how good the new battery life is and almost the same thing.
So, that led me to believe it was due to some program, but for the most part I keep these stock. One of the first things I setup are a Gmail account, FB account setup... then of course my apps are added automatically hardly any widgets ever run. If anything it's Buzzbox, I've got beautiful widget's clock now. I use Vlingo, not sure if it's a hog. When I check the battery stats, there's nothing crazy or out of the ordinary. Anyways... there's got to be something wrong, I'm guessing. I've got a regular battery and an extended battery and they both do terrible. I'm going to install a rom from scractch with nothing loaded at all and test the battery. I hate to do that, because testing will take awhile especially with adding one program/widget at a time to monitor the percentages lost.

I normally keep wifi on and connect to it over the 3g data, although I believe Green Power said it cant control the data on the GB roms as of now.
Today, I started with 98% with my extended battery, CM7 and now at 1:00PM I'm at 70% Minimal usage.

Bluetooth is off most time and Wifi like I mentioned usually is on, because I heard it uses less power than mobile.

Calibrate your battery.
Use it for a few days without installing all your apps. If the battery still sucks, then you are probably going places that do not have signal and the phone is searching a lot. Check About - Battery for time without signal.

Of course it's not as bad as the original, but watching the batter go down 10% while I'm using it is very disheartening. Awhile back, I was able to get decent battery life, but I can't remember what rom, it might have been Baked Snack like 1.6 lol, guessing anyway.

what kind of use do you receive with yours? What rom/kernel as well.
Try my rom with ziggy I've getting great reviews from my rom users nets 4.3 works great for my evos today as of now stock 1500 10.5 hours 34% extended 3500 10.5 hours still in the 90's stock had my maps on all day literally and extended barely touched it will post screenshots in a few

I am one of the heaviest users around, I stream pandora for about 8 hours , listen to music app about 2 to 3, check facebook and certain websites constantly, my two email acounts check every five minutes, my brightness is at 100 percent, my gps and location services are on, I'm overclocked...using 4.3 mikfroyo with sbc number 7...at the moment I'm using miui with sbc 7 for aosp roms, depends what you do, but either way no matter what kernal or rom you use I'll tell you, this battery will last you all day, this battery changed my evo experience...
edit: I don't use setcpu for profiles, just for overclocking, i dont use juice defender, the useless task killer or anything
edit 2: Conductive i had the same problem update to 4.4 or 4.3

so let me get this straight, average use is 8 hours of pandora, 8 hours of sleep, and that leaves 8 hours for facebook and etc, so lets say 4 hours total for a guesstimate, leaving 4 hours of non activity of the phone being off. 20/24 hours is "average use". I mean this is not a competition of who uses theyre phone more, all im saying is that with this battery you can do pretty much whatever you want without caring with ANY rom or ANY kernal you want.

No I use my bluetooth headphones for music from around 8am-6pm entire time I leave the house to the time I get home. Both facebook accounts every 15 minutes same with both.twitter accounts on xda off and on all day I.text a lot and use g talk a lot with a few calls I wasnt posting it as a battle I was actually just saying we get about the same times but I use the phone a little more and I was agreeing with you that the battery works wonders

i just got my evo after a hero.
the battery life is exactly what i expected. ive got a stock sense, rooted with clockwork.
i dont use widgets, no auto syncs. i have complete control over my device and it never leaves my hand. that being typed, i can get about 13 hours of up time.
yes, id like the battery to last longer but im not willing to have a fatty evo for the 3500mAh battery. I purchased a second stock battery, official HTC, so if Im gonna have a long day, ill have a battery with me.

Cool lol I just can't go through the day without music and I believe you pandora itself would kill a stock battery in about 4 hours I got a extended rugged case so the phone doesn't look funny with the big back lol

Ok, yesterday I loaded Miui with nothing additional except changing the LCD density to 200, green power (which is useless since wifi doesn't work with this kernel) and right now I'm at 14h, 49m since unplugged with 17% left (normal battery). That's with minimal to average use. I notice when I'm using it, I can watch the percentages just drop, so I guess it's functioning normally and it's due to just my usage and programs, I'm probably expecting too much from my battery, once again I guess. I'm going to try your rom next with my extended battery.
I know what stock battery users go through, and with heavy use they don’t last too long, but I’m now in a different, horrible place entirely and I have the 3500 mAh battery!
I know that something is clearly wrong with my Evo but no one seems to know what it is. As I said I’m also using a 3500 mAh battery, but not to any advantage. In fact I get considerably less usage with this now then I used to get with the stock 1500mAh battery, regardless of the ROM or kernel.

Battery Life: 70% after 6 hours, literally next to no usage.
Before middle of last November, if I charged the phone fully (without the benefits of SBC), and then just unplugged it on a Saturday night and let it sit unused for like 19-hours, the charge would be around 89%, +/- 1%, with the stock battery. Yesterday, using the 3500 mAh extended battery, no phone calls, Bluetooth on for about 20-miutes this morning for the drive to work and was turned off upon my arrival, and I’ve sent and received 4-5 messages on GTalk. That’s it.

Awake time: 1:20
Battery Usage screen:
Cell Standby: 42%
Phone Idle: 43%
Android System: 8%
Bluetooth: 4%

Phone runs great; everything works great, no other issues. It once fell about 10”-12” onto plush carpet (kitten attack). It was in the Sprint case with the stock battery then, and has not been dropped otherwise. If anything, I am ridiculously careful with it.
Something happened the middle of last November like a switch was flipped, and battery life has been horrible ever since. Since we got our Evos back in the very beginning of June, 2010, I don’t think that returning it to the Sprint Store was an option then or now.
No one seems to have seen anything like this or have any clue what the issue might be, but it was suggested that I RRU it back to original, update it to current and then test the battery usage. Then, basically just live with it and see if it helped. After that, I’ll re-root and get on with life, whether battery life is better or not.
Any constructive thoughts are welcome. Thank you for your time.

I know that something is clearly wrong with my Evo but no one seems to know what it is. As I said I’m also using a 3500 mAh battery, but not to any advantage. In fact I get considerably less usage with this now then I used to get with the stock 1500mAh battery, regardless of the ROM or kernel.

Battery Life: 70% after 6 hours, literally next to no usage.
Before middle of last November, if I charged the phone fully (without the benefits of SBC), and then just unplugged it on a Saturday night and let it sit unused for like 19-hours, the charge would be around 89%, +/- 1%, with the stock battery. Thats crazy my extended has on for 2 days 4 hours only used it for a hour and the battery is @ about 80% your. Your awake and bluetooth time are low your battery shouldn't die like that it might be the battery seidio.should replace it sounds like you've tried everything in the book

Thank you for the input. I thought about that so I tried the 3500 mAh in my wife's stock Evo and it runs forever. I'm so envious! I've swapped her stock battery and mine and they both run the same in either phone.
In mine, the stock battery usage is proportional, too. Fully charged and unplugged at 6:00 AM and with absolutely zero usage, sleeping screen off the entire time, by around 2:00 PM the stock battery was at 41%. That was also with very minimal synching (I've tweaked those settings nicely), no bluetooth, etc. I believe that the awake time was like 36mins. Sick, but unfortunately not in a good way.
Since it can't hurt, I think that I may do the RUU thing this weekend and then re-root afterwards. It may not help, but its literally the only thing that I can think of that I haven't tried.

Sorry, I've bypassed your rom for so long, but I've got it loaded now. Looking forward to trying it out. I can't lie I love and miss CM7 and Miui, but if my battery seems to last longer with a sense rom, then I'll be switching. So far it is very snappy and quick. Do you recommend I stick with the stock kernel or switch to something else? Do you use any setcpu, juice defender, green power or anything?
Do you have theme's as well?

I'll post back how it goes. I would say I had the same problem as the user above, but this has happened on mutliple phones and roms.
I know with a new phone you need to cycle the battery quite a few times. Someone told me roms were similar, even though I never understood why. Would you say that's true? In order to give the rom time to adjust to the battery and settings you need to give it 3-5 days?
I have been very impressed with the battery life I've been getting on my Nexus. the talk time has been much higher than any phone I've owned. Here are a few screenshots of my battery life. These two days are pretty much my normal day (lol yeah I talk a lot on the phone).
The first post will be the day that about 50% of the time I was on wifi.
The 2nd post will be screenshots from a day of being connected to hsdpa for the entire day (no wifi at all).
My setup: I use push email, facebook sync, auto brightness, gps on, bluetooth on.
Also, when the phone first came I charged it completely then ran the battery down until the phone shut off. I then charged it completely without removing it from the charger.
Below is the day where I was connected to wifi about half the time:
These screenshots show the next day where I used no wifi at all and was connected to hsdpa the entire time.
I have had mine for 2 days, and I have to say it seems to have pretty good life as well, compared to my Atrix and Note. After reading about all the gripes here,
I was expecting the worst. This battery will more than get me through everything I need to do with it in my day, but I suppose it all depends on what you do with the phone.

Coming from a G2x with a terrible 10 hour battery life, anything I get out of this is freaking fantastic compared to it! I Just wish the devs start getting out some UVed kernels so I can make it longer through the day! I consider myself a heavy user/texter (girlfriend ) and so I'd like to get through the whole day (~18 hours) without a charge I must say, I got to 16 hours yesterday and I was really pleased with that, never had a stock rom last so long without any tweeks!

mysterioustko: I think you're usage is a bit different to the average user. With all that talk time you're using the screen a lot less. It seems the screen sucks a lot of power, and if you're not using it often a full charge lasts 4 to 6 hours longer.

I typically average between 1-2 hours of screen time on an average day. But I talk A LOT each day lol. I'm impressed with the talk time because I've yet to see a phone besides this one that can go 6 hours of talk time in the real world when connected to hsdpa. Also, if you think about it, 1.5 hours of screen time is decent use. It's not a massive amount of use, but it's definitely not like it's getting no use. All in all I have been pleased with the battery life.
I don't know about you guys but im very disappointed in the battery life. With wifi turned on the entire day and no calls, just browsing and chatting on google talk, i got 3 hours 54 mins of screen on time before the phone reached 12% battery. I think thstss pretty horrendous. I was hoping for 7 hours or something of on screen time. My galaxy tab 10.1 has spoiled me i guess. Illl live with it because theres no other android phone im aware of that will give me more, but im kinda bummed about it.
My iPhone 4 has insane battery life... I cant imagine having less. Hopefully they sell larger batteries + backplates for the Galaxy Nexus?

Same here tbh. And the really frustrating part is, I only have 2G where I live so I was hoping to see really great battery life. Hasn't been the case so far though.
However having said that, just last night I flashed XXIK6 and while it's still very early to say for sure, it "appears" that battery life has significantly improved for me. Currently sitting on 91% after 3.5 hours with very, very light usage, IE: 15-20 mins screen on, 15 min phone calls, etc. Nothing to write home about sure, but way way better than before. It would normally be around 80% by now.
It's really sad when the very first thing you do after unlocking your phone is to go into setting to check your battery. Wish I could stop obsessing and enjoy this marvelous device without having to worry about it.
What did you guys do after getting the phone.
Did you charge it all the way to full before use, use and charge at the same time, or let it discharge all the way and then charge it to full?

I would have to say that the GN has the best battery life of any of my previous android phones. (G1, N1, Sensation) These things are very subjective though.

Yeah, and I don't want to lose the thinness of this gorgeous phone with an extended battery, but 4 hours of screen on time? Anyways, can you let us know how that radio works out, I'm not expecting much, but still curious. If it is noticeably better, I will try to unlock+root this phone. I'm just a little scared to brick this 700$ device.
I'm just waiting for mod of web browser that will invert colours. Black backgrounds and white text ...that would extend battery life significantly. I swapped colours on xda app and pulse reader only browser left ha ha

Yup, it's under accessibility in browser settings. Great if you read mainly text-only sites since it inverts image colours as well

I did a benchmark this afternoon for about 8 hours.
ITL41F rom, rooted + dcm kernel, otherwise stock. bluetooth, HSDPA, 1 gmail sync, and a few background sync that is very light.
idle the phone in home for 8 hours. the battery drops about 2-2.5% per hour consistently.
how long does it last with 'constant use' though?... from fully charged, to then having the screen on the whole time & doing web browsing, video watching, downloading, etc... (with data on, not wifi)

with data screen straight you may get 4-5hours. With wifi probably 6 tops.

Hmm, compared to my EVO 4G, I barely had to do anything to this to get the battery life to be very good (estimate 100 -> 0 = 15hours). Maybe I use the screen less than you guys though.
At home, no LTE connection. 5.5 Hours.
On GSM.. battery life is stellar.. keep in mind, like the person who posted above me that if you are in a low signal area your battery will be destroyed searching for signal..

This high Android OS Keep awake time is not specifically about battery life issue.
We are discussing the fact that, because of this, the phone is constantly waking up (wake up state).
And that's should not happen while the device is turned off, for example.
Yes, of course, this will relate to battery life at the end. But, that's not the point of the discussion / bug as everybody has different preference of battery life. One can say 12 hours is enough, while others may say 24 hours is not enough, according their usage pattern.

Yeah I don't think that is the case... even after rebooting it stills is draining even when idle...

This is nothing new. Android is a batt hog, plain and simple. You think google doesnt know this already. Its an "acceptable" item. Where they know about it & it's not the best, but thats what they get if they want a phone thats constantly using the network, has a large HD screen and is so damn good to look at you wont want to put it down.
Quit itchin and get on with it....
I have the extended battery from Verizon so keeping that in mind, my phone lasted 14 hours with 10% remaining with normal use. I stopped testing since I had to go to sleep
By the way I have Beweather and Facebook updating every hour and Pulse updating every 6 hours. I also have endgadget, Cnet, Google currents, Flickr and 500px updating.
So far battery life is a bit lower than I would like but not to a horrible state. definitely going to need the extended battery though. playing around today to see how fast I can kill it.
can't get photo to upload now though for some reason but got 2 hours 10 minutes with 12% remaining. would kinda like to see that as a stat added to phone reviews, minimum battery life. Max is fine but I'd rather know how long it will last with power using.

I'd say battery life was less than great on 4.0.1 but 4.0.2&.0.3 its pretty damn good now my idle usage is next to nothing. 2 days ago i had 47 minutes talk time, 1h38m screen on and about 13-15 hours of idle and still had almost 40% left at midnight.

I think you don't understand.
This is not about battery life, but the high Android OS Keep awake time. Which means your phone was awake when it's turned off.
Obviously, this doesn't happen on my HTC Desire, nor Nexus S with Gingerbread.

I can't speak for battery life on the LTE Nex as i have the HSPA+ version...I've found that the battery life is quite excellent after a few charge cycles...Have gotten 21hrs on a single charge with normal usage...if i'm watchin vids or playin games then im putting my phone on the charger cuz the screen really does eat up battery alot.
This is from my first full charge cycle. Completely stock. Amazing! This is 3.5 hours screen on and 2 hours voice calls. It's not letting me upload those screen shots for some reason.

Yeah mine has been pretty solid as well. Yesterday after 17hrs I was still at 35% which is better than most Android phones I've had.
I really think that galaxy nexus standby is amazing but the screen is the only thing that really drains the battery. So if you don't use it heavily, you should be fine. I use my nexus moderately and I still get through a day with about 40% left.

Pretty good... i find voice calls and cell signal to be main battery drain cause on Sprint's turtle 3G network.
With 2100mah extended battery, 15% juice left unplugged at 8:30am, replugging in at 10pm, 2.5hr screen, 1hr gps, 30min voice

I use 30-40% brightness. Black wallpaper. Other than that, nothing special. I only have 1 gmail account syncing, unlike some of the people on here that have 3 or 4 email accounts syncing. I also only have like 2-3 widgets running (beautiful widgets smaller home, audiomanager pro, astrid, and maybe one or two others). And most of the screen on time is doing relatively simple tasks like web browsing, reading xda, google talk, etc. Nothing too terribly intensive like video.
Based on my experience though it seems like pretty much anybody except the heaviest of users should be able to get at least a full day's use out of it, and lighter users should easily be able to get 2.
Is yours GSM? I hear the Vzw/Sprint ones get far worse battery life.

I agree. I ended a day with ~70% battery left, and most of my usage was the screen (~30 minutes or something). I haven't had any issues with my battery dying on me yet. If I left the screen off all day, I could probably use 10-15%.

Correct it is gsm, not lte.
That's impressive! Stock rom allows you to get at least 20 hours of WiFi/3G with 3-4 hrs of screen. Auto brightness. Here in Europe we don't have LTE, so our batteries could last a little bit more.
avarage battery use is over 13 hours (cm9+franco kernel).
10 hours and 53 min it dropped to 94% worth mentioning I didn't even touch the phone, can't seem to post a screen shot of it

Some of the best I've seen so far from my phone (about two weeks old) is posted here. Almost 36 hours of uptime! Wifi on the whole time, had a signal for most of it too, but guarantee there were some times that I didn't (because I was trying to use the phone then). This includes time spent playing some games as well. I've fired up Osmos HD, Everlands, Swords and Soldiers, and Draw Something at some point during that charge for at least a few iterations of play on each game. Decent amount of browsing, including hits from Google Shopper for some price comparisons. I'm syncing one Google account and one Exchange account, with black wallpaper, auto brightness (not tuned) and the calendar, news and weather, settings, and prepaid usage widgets. Stock ICS and unrooted.
i have ext battery and can run (what seems like) forever
Mine has been terrible for awhile. Even Odin back to stock and it wasn't any better. Now I'm on a clean flash with very little installed and I've only seen minimal improvement.
Here are a couple of screenshots from this morning looking at while I was sleeping. Lost 25% overnight. Had an hour of awake time with near zero screen time, seems like a lot of battery lost
You're letting way too many apps sync in the background, your phone is not reaching deep sleep. I bet you left your Google account on auto sync. Your email is syncing too often. don't leave wifi on overnight. You're getting poor signal too.

I've always let my Google account sync and left wifi on at night. It just seems like the last month or so it's chewed up lots of battery. Heck with my old desire it'd only use 3-4% (with basically the same setup) overnight.
I had this problem and was able to fix it by repeatedly throwing my battery on the sidewalk. It helps to re-excite the electrons in the battery and improve battery life.
I am trolling, in all seriousness, lithium ion batteries significantly reduce in capacity over time. It is perfectly normal for the battery to last 25 to 50 percent less long just a year in. Pro-tip, you can find replacement stock batteries on Amazon for about $10, just make sure it is an OEM battery. If you are nice to the tech or store manager at your local sprint corporate store, sometimes they will give you a replacement battery for free.

Thanks. I'm with us cellular and the phone is only two months old. They do have a battery swap benefit, but I think it can a crap shoot on the quality you get back.
I un installed that hacked s-voice app, that seemed to help quite a bit.
So it must be something with wifi. Had wifi off all day yesterday at home and last night (just using 3g connection) and I only lost 2% overnight. On 16 hours with an hour of screen time and still at 79%. Not seeing the wake ups and wakelocks like I was before.
Also if you remove your battery. Try to spin it with it laying flat. If it spins replace the battery. Bloated batteries do not hold a charge. I w

Sounds like you've got apps set to sync when on Wifi only then. To confirm, try leaving Wifi on but turning off background data. If your battery life improves, it's definitely an app. Then you just have to go through your apps and figure out which one it is.
Gmail can be set to push so you don't have to worry about it syncing unless necessary. But if you get a ton of emails, it's still going to hurt.
Also, I disagree with revamper, if you get poor signal you should leaving Wifi on as much as possible. Being connected to solid Wifi will drain less battery than your phone constantly polling towers for a better signal (given identical app behavior, which you don't have atm). I'd still turn Wifi off when moving about, as you won't be on a single, solid Wifi connection and you phone will be polling both towers and Wifi networks, resulting in increased battery drain. You also want to set Wifi Sleep Policy to not sleep when the phone screen is off (otherwise as soon as you turn off the screen Wifi is disabled and you're polling towers again). From what you've said, it sounds like this is already set though.
The best thing I've ever done for my battery life was flash Calkulin's ICS ROM. 4 days of standby or a full day of some really heavy use. Email is the only thing that syncs automatically (push). Other apps like Facebook aren't that important to me so they only sync when I open them.

I had a battery cook in the phone this weekend and this is what the sprint tech did. I picked up my phone after being on the charger overnight and it was almost hot enough to burn me. I took it in, they popped it out and spun it like a top... Handed me a new battery within 5 minutes.
Yeah it's probably wifi. I also have much higher idle drain on wifi than 3G right now, although I haven't had time diagnose it. Actually, I hadn't bothered because I was planning to move to an AOSP ROM from stock ICS once kernel source was published, but I'm losing my patience. The AOSP guys seem to have things worked out without source anyways.

I also have extremely high drain while on wifi, I just made it so the wifi shuts off when the screen shuts off
