T-Mobile or AT&T? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

So there's s3 at T-Mobile but not att? Is it worth going to T-Mobile from.att?

I have t-mobile, but if I had att I wouldn't switch just because of handset availability.
If you are out of contract you should weigh the pros and cons of each in terms of coverage in your area, pricing of comparable plans to satisfy your needs, and THEN device selection.
Plus if you wait a lil longer you can maybe get your hands on the red version!

You realise you can get the AT&T GS3 overnighted to you. You just have to call up and ask for one.

I have a new line with the one x and I'm within my 30 days maybe I'll just see if bb has them. I would switch carriers based on horrible service that att has

I wouldn't switch.. far as I know ( and correct me if I'm wrong ) the T-Mobile version of the SGSIII does NOT have LTE !! To me, that would be a waste.

It has badass hspa+ (42mbps) though which can just as fast as lte depending on location. And it doesnt kill battery like lte, so id say the tmo version is a great option..

LOL, Best Buy is not selling AT&T Galaxy S3's over the counter! I dont know where you have heard that, but you definitely haven't been following either of the 2 Official Best Buy Galaxy S3 threads.
If Best Buy does have them in stock for AT&T, which is a HUGE IF, they are saying they cannot sell them because AT&T has not announced an official release date/launch date. I know, that makes not sense and is a huge lie, but that is what they are saying.
So NO, Best Buy is not selling AT&T Galaxy S3's over the counter.

T-Mobile will launch refreshed Galaxy S III with LTE support

Source: http://www.theverge.com/2013/1/8/38...aunch-refreshed-galaxy-s-iii-with-lte-support
At a CES briefing today, T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray revealed to The Verge that the company will launch a refreshed version of Samsung's wildly popular Galaxy S III that features support for its upcoming LTE network — a network that has now been confirmed to launch commercially any week now. It's not yet known whether the phone will be marketed as a new, distinct model or as a silent and unadvertised swap on store shelves.
Though the Galaxy S III that's presently being offered by T-Mobile does not support LTE, the slightly newer Galaxy Note II does; Ray tells us that it'll require a "small" software update to enable it once it's available. No other LTE-capable phones have been announced by T-Mobile yet, but it's likely that we'll see some announcements as the first markets go live across the first and second quarter of the year.

for what? lte consumes more power and isnt any faster than what youre already using. in fact, some would argue it is slower...
...and the Vibrant story repeats itself. T-mobile sure loves doing this. At least my unlocked T999 is ready to switch when I get the money to do so.

But seriously, that's why I said "If it happens to cover my area". I know it likely wont, but hey, who knows. I can already almost throw a rock and hit an HSPA+ 42 coverage area.
This is exactly what turns me off about the galaxy line in the US. I thought maybe they'd change with all the carriers having similar phones now, but no. Ill keep my s3 until its paid off then I'm probably going tontrybsomething else.

I dont think its that simple, I believe you need the hardware as well as the modem firmware, just flashing the modem could potentially brick your phone.
I get like 1.6 megs down already. It's more than fast enough.

I guess once this phone is released, there needs to be a detailed teardown (anandtech / ifixit) that compares the old T999 with the new T999L.
Hopefully there are no hardware differences, and everything is firmware/rom related.
If there are hardware differences, maybe we can start frankensteining a broken T999L (i.e. cracked screens etc) with a working T999 LOL

Unless Tmo planned for 1.5 years ahead when they launched the Herc, I doubt we have the right hardware. Hopefully it does have support and Tmo did plan for the future but they're keeping it a secret . Because when they build the source for a ROM, they don't take out individual little things for certain devices.

Actually the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S III (SGH-T999) is NOT capable of it period. I have one. But i did read rumors that they may be making another S3, one with the exact same specs, but adding an LTE capable chip. T-Mobile went on the cheap side with their S3 and used the same chip as the ATT and other variants, but cut out the LTE capabilities. Kinda dumb but hey im not the CEO. lol.
But you are right, the Note 2 just needs a firmware update to enable LTE, also, the only other phone capable of T-Mobile LTE is the Windows Phone 8X.

'Uncarrier' plans, remember? There are no free phones anymore (though there are ones with no down payments, but the SGS2 doesn't qualify). Even the absolute cheapest phones must be fully paid for now as shown on their website.
To the OP, I highly recommend getting a new phone. The i777 is good, but it lacks the 1700 band, so you won't have 3G. Choose whatever phone you like, though, personally, I intend to get the HTC One myself as soon as I can.
