{Script} CPU1 disabler while in sleep!!! The Battery Saver Mod! - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

Script Version!
This time I present to you a script that will in theory (and so far for me, in reality) save us some battery without having to risk our hardware with undervolting! I present to you...
CPU Sleeper
Honestly the Script can be made to work with any Dual Core / Quad Core! The Only Problem is you need to be Rooted!
~ Currently the issue with CM9, is that the boot becomes incomplete while in init.d folder without Modification to the sysinit..
~ however, with any rooted device you can download the script & continue to use it via a script manager app on every boot.
~ With the Script Manager App, this script virtually can run on any Multi-Processor CPU
Hope that clears things Up,
~~Eugene

What is it?
Its a fairly simple script that will put CPU 1 OFFLINE when the screen turns off. Once the screen comes back on, it will allow CPU 1 back ONLINE.
How does it work?
Since we have dual core CPUs, we have a CPU 0 and a CPU 1, core 1 and core 2, while the screen is off we really only need to have 1 core active, this script will make sure CPU 1 shuts off while the screen is off, then resumes normal usage when the screen comes back on.
WARNING! READ THIS!
This script relies on init.d OR script manager! CM9, for some reason, tends to run this at the exact same time it runs some other script (I forget atm which) and it will clash, causing no boot! CM9 users MUST use the script manager version install! Flex Reaper appears to work fine with it as init.d. I strongly urge you to use the script manager version of this, NOT the flashable version. Always make a nandroid backup before modifying the system, including this!
Instructions
Available in 2 versions, script only version which you can place wherever you want and run however you want, or a CWM/TWRP flashable zip that will place the file for you in /system/etc/init.d and set permissions.
Version 1: Flashable
Same as any of my flashable releases, I did most of the work for you!
Make a full backup
Download to external SD card
Install from SD card
Pick the cpu sleeper zip file
it'll be almost instant
reboot
Shouldn't be any need to clear caches or anything like that.
Version 2: Script only
This can be run in 2 ways, via init.d support, or via script manager. Both are pretty similar, and can be done a number of ways, however this is the basis of how.
Init.d supported kernel:
Make a backup!
Download the script file, making sure no extensions get added onto the file. Copy the file to /system/etc/init.d and set the permissions to the following:
XOX
XOX
XOX
Once done, reboot the system, and it will take effect when your system is finished rebooting.
Script Manager
This method is probably the better method, and should work with any kernel/ROM. Download the script file, making sure no file extensions get added, and copy it to /system/etc. Set the file permissions to:
XOX
XOX
XOX
Once done, load up script manager, select browse as root (if it isn't already set from the crossix mod method in the guide) then browse to /system/etc and select the script file S98cpu_sleep, then select ROOT and BOOT options. After this is set, reboot system.
What do I do if I can't boot after using this?
You made that backup, right? Ok, then here is what you do.
Hold the power button until the tablet powers off
Press and hold the volume down button, next to the screen lock switch
Press and hold Power (while holding volume down)
Once the recover kernel message comes up, release the buttons
In CWM go to advanced, mounts, mount system, then format system
In TWRP, go to wipe, then wipe system
In CWM go to restore, advanced restore, restore ONLY system
In TWRP select restore, then uncheck all so ONLY system is checked
After restoring system, wipe cache and dalvik cache, then reboot system.
System should boot normally.
Downloads
Available in 2 versions, script only version which you can place wherever you want and run however you want, or a CWM/TWRP flashable zip that will place the file for you in /system/etc/init.d and set permissions.
Dual Core:
Download: Script Only - Recommend Install via Script Manager App
CPU Sleeper script only
Quad Core:
Download: Script Only - Recommend Install via Script Manager App

Thanks! It's been confirmed working perfect for all Dual / Quad Cores device with no ill effect..

I think that this script is placebo effect if someone thinks to see a difference in battery life. On the Galaxy Nexus this maybe is a battery saver, but on the Galaxy s3 Samsung has delivered us the pegasusq governor and controls every core for itself. So your script doesn't change anything in the functionality if I understand it correct what it does. Because without this script the phone shuts down the uneeded cores, so where's the difference?
L

@ the op, what are you getting in terms of time without charge?
I've seen these ideas come and go and I give you merit for trying.
What is your up time from max charge to depletion?
If it works it works and I'm sure people will use it , we just need to make sure it's not a placebo and that it is actually saving battery.
Is there any lag on wake? Does the script ever cause too deep a sleep, forcing a restart or battery pull? What's been your experience?
I am curious about this because I've found the battery life on this phone to be no better than my evo 3D.
Many thanks.

lmao... then don't use it... CPU 1/2/3 is always online! even if it's report offline...
If you don't like it, don't use it! simple fact is, even when asleep there online & being used...

yeah I don't care at this point!

I'll give it a go and let you guys know how I find the mod under different situations.
Thanks for sharing OP!
edit: Isn't this what a Tegra 3 does? It has 4 cores and a sleep core. This might be good for non Tegra 3 devices but I can't see this helping.

No lag, battery is increased & there is no placebo!
This has been confirmed from Quad-core users before even posting it...... You only see Battery increase during sleep, if you are a heavy user then likely no you will not see any increase......
however, this works great due to android even when asleep still uses all the CPU..... I Don't f'k care if it's being report offline.....
when asleep, this scripts force all CPU offline until awake, as 1 cpu asleep can handle everything the phone is doing.

hmmm, I've watched how the cores behave for quite some time via adb. Actually everytime I send the phone to sleep mode aka push power button, core 1-3 is going offline. So I guess pegasusq does its work already

I downloaded the script in order to place in init.d but it was downloaded as a .txt file, what should the file extension be/how do I download it without altering the extension?

So..
Delete the file extension and that's all.

When you say script manager, do you mean SManager from Google Play?

This is a nonsense implementation. I don't advise anybody to use it.
It's a while loop just trying to send the CPUs into offline mode every 2 seconds per CPU, or every 6 seconds per CPU if you're turning off 3 cores. It does absolutely nothing to prevent the cores from powering up in terms of hot-plug logic and it can even decrease the battery life if there is some kind of load that would trigger a CPU to get online; so CPUs might just go online and then get shut down.
Edit: Oh, you also absolutely fail to mention that this script will turn on all 4 CPUs while screen on, completely disregarding hotplugging.

Stop whining and address the issues at hand. Turn on DVFS debugging in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/pegasusq/dvfs_debug and open a terminal to monitor /proc/kmsg either on your own device or through ADB to test the screen off nonsense; the core statistics with load of each core, if they're online or not, the runqueue lengths and the frequency for each sampling period of the governor.

I don't know what you mean by this unintelligible piece of gibberish, but I assume you are asking why having multiple CPUs if they are not online. The CPUs are turned on based on load and turned off when idling when there is nothing to do to preserve power. Hotplugging has worked since ever and it works perfectly. I don't know what planet you lived on or what credentials you have to earn that recognized developer title but you have clearly no idea of what you are talking about and have some issues with dealing with criticism.
This script certainly decreases screen-on battery life and in a best case-scenario does nothing to idle time, and in a worst-case scenario decreases it and conflicts with other scaling logics of the processor.

I tested it already and posted how to see the facts and statistics in my last post. You don't own the device, I do.
I see now that you're just very severely confused. This is the INTERNATIONAL (i9300) Galaxy S3 forum. The quadcore or any Exynos for that matter has proper and working hot-plugging. This is not running on Qualcomm processors. Re-read the last 2 phrases 10 times.
Now go back to my last post and read what I wrote before you starting releasing things for a) The wrong device b) Having no clue about the device you are releasing something for. I consider you are clueless since there is currently no quad-core CPU on the planet right now in mobile phones which does not support hot-plugging, so you couldn't have mixed that up.
Your confirmation is coming from some random people which know even less about the facts and installed that script just yesterday, making it worthless and meaningless.
Feel free to argue this with other users as I'm done here.
Edit: By the way, I see that you created a copy of this thread for every single ****ing variant of the S3 [1],[2],[3],[4] (Way to go with all US versions being in the same sub-forum category!). While I don't have access to any of those, I'm fairly sure they also have working hot-plugging.

No. Dont...really dont
I tried a few weeks ago, but instead of running my android freezes... :S
Does this overclock the CPU if so this was bad juju sometime last year was causing funky things to happen when overclocking was added to the default.txt

Script must be run as root. 528 is the fastest stable overclock I can achieve. Sometimes OC lockups will corrupt all your data. I don't recommend OCing at boot/system load unless you're really sure about it. I am not supporting OCing or this file. Every system is different, OC your device at your own risk.

I've been running ahb_div=4 & a11=500 all day, and it seems to be alright... The only problems I've had is when it's plugged in, as soon as I unplug it while it's asleep it locks up. A soft reset fixes it just fine, but not sure how alarms/etc. will work while its plugged in. maybe just simply waking it before unplugging will be fine.
NOTE: Everytime I reboot the phone, I need to reapply those settings.

That sounds right. You might have to use chmod to make it executable, too.
Even so, I understand you can brick your device doing all this?
Doesn't sound worth the risk. A little bit more speed in trade for instability and risk of bricking your hard-to-replace Kaiser.

Well, I can't flash to NAND - I'm still using HaRET, so I don't think that would be a problem for me.
If you put the script on your SDcard you don't have to chmod it since FAT partitions don't have permissions, the files are all 777. It'll only corrupt your Android data if it corrupts anything, so backup your Android data first. AFAIK no one has actually permanently damaged the Kaiser using reasonable overclocks.

I copy it to SDCard and open via "Root Explorer" ("Execute" Command).
I see message "oc.sh executed" but in my opinion overclocking not exist.

I have to voice a second opinion on this.
I urge you not to do this if you need your phone as a daily user, Th effects of overclocking are minimal at best anyways, the phone not waking up is one of the reasons 99% of us quit using this a very long time ago. I dont think anyone has permanently bricked their phone YET but its bound to happen. I would think that continually reloading a data backup would get very annoying atleast it did for me. I havent overclocked probly close to a year now and see no reason too even running polymods eclair. If your running myns donut there is absolutley no reason to at all. But if you so desire then go right ahead and hope for the best. And to the one that metioned his phone locking up no your alarms won't work if you overclock your phone don't count on its reliability.
is anything dangerous on overclocking Kaiser?
and whaat is max frequency? 528MHz?
Default is 400MHz

I already use "polymod 2.1g" and this build need to overclock.
But this script cannot make it.
I seen real overclock only on previous versions mssmison`s eclair: system tools shows 507MHz and device works faster than usual.
The script works, your device needs to sleep and wake before it takes effect. If you want to see the quantitative difference download Linpack or CaffieneMark for Android Every device is different, I can OC and everything works fine (99% of the time) but almost everyone else has trouble. Vogues seem to have it easier -- YMMV.
how i can overclock myn donut?
I'm 90% complete on my Android application that overclocks and changes lcd density within Android. It also works on the Kaiser
Stay tuned.

Overclocking XDAndroid Rhodium

So I noticed a number of references in one of the mega XDAndroid threads to overclocking Rhodium. Sounded pretty simple, just a string of text with the desired frequency in a particular file.
A couple of questions for those who toyed with that:
1) was it stable and what was its fastest stable speed?
2) did it run uncomfortably hot?
3) is it possible to alter it on the fly (so you can run it slow when you're reading, and crank it up for video), or do you have to choose a speed preboot and reset to change it?
4) If it can't at the moment, be altered on the fly, might it be possible for some program to do that in the future?
5) finally, why is it so easy on adroid? It seems like no2chem has hit a bit of a wall in making his winmo project hum, but the references here made it sound like a pretty basic task.
Part of the reason I'm asking is flash 10.1 is due for android in Q1. The last I read of CPU requirements had them over Rhodium's specs by a lot. Mobile hulu access would be fantastic, and I'm planning to start dual booting this summer, once classes are done. It'd be nice if my TP2 could eek out enough performance for that.
Thanks

I did test and confirm this. I think what happens is with smem.fake=1 the phone actually never goes to sleep.... at least the sleep light never turns on. I will have to ask phh if this is the case.
Tried putting the overclock line in Startup.txt but it did not seem to change anything, at least according to the CPU Benchmark app. The battery line did seem to work though, as it thought it was charging even while not plugged in.
Is there a specific order that these parameters need to be added in? I just added the overclock line at the end and the battery one after that.
Using the latest non-sense 2.1 builds.
I'd love to add Rhodium overclocking support to my RogueTools application.
I think there is still a constraint though with write access to /system. I am hopeful that shortly the Rhodium kernel and rootfs developers will deviate out of the current read only SQSH model and go the way of the Vogue, Kaiser and Polaris hosting the system and data in separate EXT2 partitions on the SD Card. NAND would be the next step.
If someone knows another way to overclock on the fly once the system is up (post boot). PM me. Like I said, I'd love to add support for the Rhodium.
so nothing on the OC for 2.1 yet?

I'm about to test overclocking with the SetCPU app. Worked fine on my rooted G1. I'll report back with my findings.

Data corruption is inevitable without running extensive stress testing to find a safe speed. I have yet to find one for msm7k processors, but surely Qualcomm has one. Benchmarking is not the same as stress testing. Such stress testing apps need to be run for several hours & even days. They can't test all functionality accuracy. Stress testing in themselves can cause hardware damage & even catastrophic failure.
Data corruption is often the "silent killer" and goes undetected by you or system checks ... until you need it most. It may be a config file, a message file, a contact database, an executable, a registry hive, a system file. Any non ROM file is vulnerable. Backup OFTEN & NOT while OC, even though BUed corrupted data is still corrupted. Quote "stable speed" isn't such just because device doesn't randomly lock up or reboot.
Every CPU and memory chip has different limitations. Same phones built on same date may not OC the same.
Don't OC when when building new Android data.img file, downloading update files or apps, extracting or creating archived files, installing apps, encrypting or decrypting.
OC doesn't help Project XDAndroid developers. I suspect many "bugs" they spend valuable time on are OC related.
The msm7k processors supported by Project XDAndroid are a speed scaling processor designed for optimum performance vs. battery runtime, ramping up and down the processor speed based on demand. Average device use doesn't utilize full processor speed.
OC is most noticeable in OS boot times (when OC is initialized prior to), certain multitasking operations, some video playback, CPU intensive games, & to a lesser extent web browsing. Many factors determine the effectiveness of OC especially whether graphics are hardware or software supported.
Your OC device may actually perform worse, noticeably more sluggish, or more jerky than when not OC. Ever notice on some boots into Android it takes forever for your carrier to be detected & displayed on the lock screen and it may creep along as if your processor was hijacked by a random process? Ever notice when you open the app drawer not all your apps are displayed?
OC does use more energy thereby shortening battery run time and producing more heat. Don't complain about battery life if you are OC. Accurate battery charge state & battery run time are not synonymous.
While OC may shorten hardware lifespan it most likely, though possible, will not lead to a catastrophic failure in the typical device lifetime due to the rate of current technological innovations and average length of ownership.
My overall performance satisfaction with Project XDAndroid is best when not OC, especially now that hardware 3D is supported or partially supported as in my rhod500.
OC at your own risk.

Heads up! New Kaiser Wifi update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6456191&postcount=33
Old one replaced build.prop with wrong version. Reinstall and use the new Wifi update.
Also to get rid of android-rebooting-problems with GPS Test application do the following:
1. Start terminal emulator
2. su
3. cd system/lib/hw
4. rwsystem
5. rm sensors.msm7k.so
6. rosystem
7. exit
8. exit
9. restart phone
So how is it? I'm too lazy to install it.

Seems like a really nice build. I'm using 320x428 with 144 dpi. A bit slow because I'm currently not running in NAND but I would expect it to perform quite well once I go back to running NAND again.
I haven't tested it very much yet as I'm doing some experiments in WinMO at the moment.
just tried
hey
i just downloaded this and i have to say im impressed about this.
as i love the eclair design and everything and the donut speed i have to say this is impressing because it is FAST! not as fast as donut but pretty much the same. that could be due to the 500 mHz OC but i just like that build.
just needs to be optimized a bit, maybe a few apps like astro and others
and as the developer has a new phone we need a new one.
But i have to say its awesome!
i love it already and just tried it for 9 min.
just the OC needs to be removed i noticed right now and is there any way to set another value for the screen sensebility because quiet often it does not react on a touch.
so keep updating this!
nick
nice rom but it chews through battery like crazy. With a full charge battery will drop from 99 to 75(battery fix removed OC and set 1400 value) with just a 10min phone call and a couple txts. I think what we need is a new kernel highly optimized for battery life using the latest patches. Judging from the name alone of the kernel its running right now 2.6.25-01051-gc362ac-dirty and the fact that 2.6.25 was released in jul 2008 i think theres room for tons for improvement.
Does anyone know how to adjust the microphone gain? my friends complain they cant hear me..
The wifi scan interval is set to 15 seconds by default in this release. That will have a negative effect on battery life if you are out of range of a known network and have wifi enabled. I'll put together an update to change this when time allows. I use 120 seconds myself.

Thanks to update.
It working good on Polaris.
Also i change interval to 180 and density to 120 in .prop
Here's an update that changes the wifi scan delay to 120 seconds and also (not tested yet) changes the model name from Vogue to Kaiser.
i'm still trying to figure out if it's possible, somehow, to flash an update.zip file (to be able to use the cyanogenmod skins) with the nomorootfs we're using, instead of converting the skins to metamorph format
does anyone know if it's possible or how to do it?
Can't get wifi to work with updates, which one should I need?
kallt_kaffe's works for me. If something isn't working like it should, power off the phone and remove the battery. Then hold down the power button to remove any remaining power left. Place batter back in and try again.
Also, make sure to always fix permissions when you apply updates, even for wifi.

edit: how stupid can I be? I've bought another phone and forgot to add the mac adress.
Certainly think mod needs work. So far the battery meter is off, and all this time I thought it drained less power. A lot of pop ups to force close apps. A lot of apps are running that I don't use.
mssmison didn't say he was going to put any more effort into it either. Hopefully, someone will pick it up.

Have you removed or renamed /lib/modules/hw/sensors.msm7k.so? After I removed that it runs very stable for me.
kallt_kaffe how do you do it?
I'm new to the androidinstall.tar method. I'm tyring to run from haret but it seems impossible.
You said you where experimenting with something in winmo, so that implies you're using haret? Are you running from haret?
When I try, Polymod, and Mssmission they don't show an install option, when I try myn and incubus I get it installed but I get no sound. It was actually your gps kernel that let me get things installed all other kernels i tried had non-functional dpads within the installer environment. Also, trying another kernel once installed didn't fix the sound issue.
Anyhow just let me know if you're using Haret. I wonder whats up with the sound and missing install option. I tried the install two different ways one with a 2gb fat32 partition, and then another attempt using three primary partitions 1.3gb fat32, 300mb ext, 300mb ext. All installers then would give me options beside's fat, but not all intallers would have an install option.. I'm using radio 1.71.09.01.eMo, model: kais100, os: wm6.5 (shifu v.3)

It can work after i added "sensors.sapphire.so" into /lib/modules/hw/
I've installed the cyanogenMod updater from the marketplace, but it can only find older versions, no experimental versions, whatever option I set in the program.Anyone?

battery life has been fantastic for me on this build...
although I reverted back to 400mhz and got rid of compcache.
I am sure that OCing to 500 by default is draining the battery faster.
I would rather a usable phone than a fast one...(although it still seems very fast to me)

Now supports hotplug governor !
Now makes it's own tweak directory to cut down on overhead !
Now screenstate + CPU1_ON is working better than ever !
Now generates a list of kernel default settings for governors !
SHOULD now flash onto other phones without issue !
DOWNLOAD NOW AFTER READING MORE HERE
The setup I've been using lately uses two scripts; one script that has all of the tweaks and settings, and one small script for screenstate awareness.
Here are some details about installation and use.
1) Download the zip package you intend to install.
2) Boot into recovery with your preferred method. ( I personally just type "reboot recovery" into terminal. I hate holding the buttons...)
3) Navigate to the zip you downloaded and install it.
4) Assuming all went correctly, you will have the quickest flash you've seen, with the least "blahblahblah" possible.
This is normal.
TO VERIFY: Try switching gears. Open terminal emulator and type one of the following.
( you must first type "su" and hit enter )
ondemand
peqasus
conservative
interactive
smartass
lulzactive
If it installed correctly then this will effectively switch you to another governor with optimized settings.
Enjoy.
If this didn't switch you to a new governor, chances are there was a permission or mount failure on my part.
I will be posting additional tools to assist with this part, plus I'm getting a little better at preventing these issues.
To fix it yourself, try setting a governor after typing the following into terminal emulator. (these can be copy pasted if exact)
If it isn't working due to mount; the terminal emulator solution is
busybox mount -o remount,rw rootfs /
busybox mount -o remount,rw `busybox realpath /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/FACTORYFS` /system
If if it was a permission related failure; the terminal emulator solution is
for i in ondemand conservative pegasus lulzactive interactive smartass;do
chmod 0755 /system/xbin/$i; done
If you have a problem that neither of these fix feel free to ask me or anyone else in this thread.

Placebo:
It's hard to summarize Placebo quickly and in an easy to understand way.
Placebo is a script, or set of scripts, that changes Linux kernel settings in your Android.
It is hard to stay caught up, because the number of potential combinations is almost without limit,
and placebo is constantly changing as I learn/dabble with new/existing modifications.
Some will be for better battery (though all will probably help a little), some will be to make your phone
scream louder than Jenna J.
I would be more than willing to provide more technical information to anybody that requests it.
It's almost pointless to post specific values that are set, as no two Placebos make every adjustment the same,
but there are some constants, for example:
Every Placebo implements a sysctl.conf (or equiv.) which will adjust (at least some of) the following settings:
(The following is a brief breakdown of tunable virtual memory settings, as I understand them.
I do not claim to know a lot about Linux. If you notice something that I have misunderstood,
Please correct me. Flaming will not be responded to. Helpful knowledge will be appreciated.)

This one almost effects the battery as much as a new ROM. It will probably take a short cycle before it balances itself out.
These settings are a little aggresive, but Im still taking it easy because I dont want anyone to break anything...

Much better on the OP. Are you able to provide the download link to the file using the regular xda method (I added one below)? It is easier to see the link and it provides 2 very useful things: it has a built-in download counter (views) and you can remove or update it to new file(s) whenever you like.
Edit: Please put a brief note on the OP with what this script is known to work with (ROMs). And also do yourself a favor and put a disclaimer that you do not plan to support all the roms that are out at this time, try at your own risk stuff. That will save you a lot of headache there are so many different roms out there.
Is there a reason you're leaving /system writable?
Also, this seems to effectively replace kobridge's 41tweaks script, but doesn't address his ondemand scheduler, or build.prop or wifi sleep tweaks. Is that accurate? Can you see any potential conflicts if I kept those?

Actually it was by design to leave those alone, and since I have no scheduler in Placebo, no conflict there. (I smaaawt sah ntine) .
I didnt ask kobridge for permission to insert his work into placebo, so WifiSleepWait is left alone.
If you look for the "*tweaks" youll see what it is.. placebo will interact only with things having "tweak" in their name in its current config.
And about system, thats just a preference of mine. Feel free to add anything (including unmount) to it.

As for GB, I dont see why there would be any issues. I havent tried it, but these are the same things that were in scripts long before I was playing witb them so Id guess that its safe.

[Q] Core and frequency control according to temperature

My N2 makes me crazy when it gets warm.
When it reaches about 36 celsius degrees it starts with frequency limit of 800MHz.
The second step is making 2 cores offline and at last my gadget becomes limited to 2 cores at a max. of 500MHz.
It becomes almost unusable for me when in car. I use two navis in multiwindow (Waze and Sygic) and AutoGuard recording in background with FullHD and in about 5 minutes it's restricted hardly.
I know it's for safety reasons but I think it's too strict.
Is there a possibility to raise the thresholds of these by a few degrees?
What kernels support this?
There is a nice app called Android Tuner which is able to set these tresholds but it is for Qualcomm CPU-s only...
Thanks for any answers in advance!

Not exactly understand...
There must be a safe setting for it as with Perseus kernel the thresholds are higher, but not too much. I forgot to edit my question according my experiences with Perseus.
At least with Perseus I get a max of 1000MHz at most cases but it is not enough for me cause I use apps needing high resources.
Would You be so kind to write about the value to be changed in order to get higher thresholds?
If I understand you correctly. Then you could try trickster mod.
Or try saber kernel. I use this baked into the Jedi rom.

Thank You for the advice!
Now I had some time so I'm on Saber kernel and just testing.
The testing is awesome till now: the phone is working more powerful with this kernel and doesn't get hot so soon. :good:
Oh, now there is something strange, the programs get FC-s...
The phone is on charger, I ran AutoGuard in the background in FullHD, Sygic and Waze in MultiWindow, VideoPlayer in popup with a FullHD video and SuperPlayer in popup with another FullHD video. It was extremely fine but after a few minutes the players collapsed and AutoGuard had an error. The system is stable anyway. It seems I have to restart phone now...
Edit: After restart I got an old problem back: Dropbox is unable to run again... I loved Perseus because of this, on Perseus this problem was away... I hope that I won't get the other issue back with my WiFi... And it seems, AutoGuard became stupid too... :crying:
I don't give up and keep on trying to make them ok.
But I can't find the thermal control feature in Trickster Mod Donation altough I have just a minute for it.
I am reading Trickster webpage to get ahead...
Question: Are You using Jedi ROM and have no thermal problems?
In that case I'm going to try that ROM, cause I'm on hunting for a ROM that works with no problems for me.
I tried some lately and till now Omega v18 was the best amongst them. I tried MIUI, ProBam, Hawkish in the last days and I get problems with all of them or had non-working applications and/or features which ones are essentials for me...
Edit: mmmmmmmm, as see there is no Jedi ROM for international N7100...
hey bro,
wow you seem to be a bit more advanced than me so maybe ive reached the limit of the advice i can give you.
However, if you inform me how to check for thermal problems i will surely do that and then report back.
the saber kernel to the best of my knowledge is underclocked so if you try to o/c it maybe that will prevent your fc's. I have read in the various threads, of which the community is very helpful, of some issues for heavy users due to the u/c.
Regarding the jedi rom i am a uk 7105 user and to the best of my knowledge i thought it would also work for international 7100 users?!?!
Here is the thread i use.

reading the op of that thread it would appear you are correct. I do know they are working on version 18 so maybe that will work for you. fingers crossed.

hey bro,
wow you seem to be a bit more advanced than me so maybe ive reached the limit of the advice i can give you.

Thank You for Your effort!
I'll keep on investigating for a solution.
Unfortunately the real test was horrible with Saber kernel, when I tested it in car the temperature got high soon and the thersholds were low again.
But it's a good idea to try o/c thank You very much!
I'll try it tomorrow, now I have to go to play Cod4...
And I found that TWRP is recommended for Saber and a few minutes untouching after the restart so I'll try again.
Have a nice day!
you too bro, sorry i couldnt help more.
but if you post in the saber kernel thread there are some helpful and intelligent folks in there that may have a better solution for you.
enjoy cod

Thank You again!
I got some experiences with the newest Saber kernel and I like it 'cause the first kernel I can use 100MHz step with and using 300MHz step too.
It seemes to be good at battery consumption too. My only problem that this kernel doesn't support STweaks so I can't regulate charging voltages like I used to. Perhaps only Perseus kernel makes it possible as I can't get any other programs for it till now. Or NEAK kernel and the new versions of AGNi pureSTOCK kernel as I read their pages. I'll try them some day. But Perseus is my favourite.
I think it's important to say that the kernel isn't UC/OC by default so this doesn't make any problems and it's not UV-ed too.
I set min. to 100MHz and max. to 1920MHz to test and it's stable till now. I tried to Overvolt slightly and had no change on media programs behavior they don't like each other as I see.
Trickster Mod is nice 'cause it shows the CPU temperature which was helpful to understand this regulations of thermal control are needed.
When I tested it turned out that CPU is below 70 degrees while the battery temparuture is 'only' about 40 degrees.
So thanks for Your kind advises!
wow. Ok i think i understood most of your post. probably a little bit over my head but i need to learn.
I really like the new kernel im getting 1% battery drain an hour with the screen off which truly is unheard of for me,
The kernel runs real smooth apart from when i play asphalt 8. Or i should say it runs smooth playing the game until the phone tries to do something else. For example if it attempts to update a programme or if a message/email comes through. then the game just lags and i have to wait for the phone to stop multi tasking before the car starts to move normally again.
So im surprised to read you say the kernel isn't uc/uv by default??? I was pretty positive it was. But i dont know for sure and im probably not clever enough to figure it out lol.
I wonder what settings i would need to increase to aid the phone in its multi tasking? Also there must be some kind of programme we could use that would test our specific phone/cpu and tell us which settings it would prefer. As i believe each phone will run slightly different?
You are right i remember reading the kernel does not work with stweaks.
I wish i could work with you and figure out how to optimise our settings but i simply dont have the skill set.
I presume you used trickster to overvolt slightly?

No, I didn't overvolt at last. But once I tried and didn't helped on my problems.
Unfortunately now I'm back on Perseus kernel again 'cause some issues with Saber. It became crazy every time and locked my CPU on 160MHz only and only reboot helped.
The other issue was the stuck system server process what was active all night and didn't stop hard work.
Now I'm on reading the kernel's page till I get cleverer on it... then I perhaps try it again 'cause I liked it.
