[MOD]<<<< AppsBak-Auto Backup >>>>

This mod will backup your apps and auto update the backup on your sdcard at every boot.
Backup apps and data
Flash zip
Open terminal and type su
Then type bak
Follow onscreen instructions
After you do a restore you must reboot or do a hot restart before the apps will show in the menu.
Before installing a new rom just reboot one time to update your backup or do it manually with the script, then after you install your new rom flash this again and restore.
This uses init.d
Now it syncs files instead of using 7zip using rsync. Thanks to dodava for the info and download of rsync it's a much more efficient way to do it.
It also syncs data and settings now but some settings cannot be restored so it excludes those. It keeps your system settings but not accounts like google you have to make those again if you change roms. It does keep app data for installed apps.
Backups are located at /sdcard/appsbak

Tried a bunch of times to get it to work with AOSP but it's just not happening, Tested and working perfect with Sense.

I'm not sure what you mean but yea you flash the zip then open a terminal and type su then type bak it starts the script you will see a menu.

That's what I was asking, didn't want to assume to flash in recovery before launching in terminal. The install method was not clarified in the OP.

Not yet, this actually took some time to get this working on the MT4G from the Evo 3D do to the fact he doesn't have the phone but there will be more added in the near future. This does a great job at updating the zip for newer versions of apps installed and clears what you delete apon reboot, the good thing about it is holding on to what you actually use without fear of losing apps say something happens with the device.

Right now i can backup all of the data in /data/data which has all your settings and app data may be good enough to restore i'll try and see.

I'm flashing a different Sense ROM in a few minutes, give me about a half and I'll get my end going for you.
( I'm gonna see if I can get WIFI fixed for this particular ROM in the mean time. )

[Q] Sleeper Rom vs Clean GB

Just curious about experiences with either or both. I have been steadfast with cleanGB and am curious about Sleeper but don't want to have to wipe data and reinstall everything, to include my mail settings etc..etc..
Is it even worth considering? Thanks!

They are both very good roms! That's about all I can give you... sleeper rom will gie you evrything that clean gb has. Really its all about what agrees with your phone better... just backup in cwm and flash sleeper rom... if you figure out its not for you restore your backup and your right where you left off!

yea, what flast said.. just go ahead and try out the rom if you like. just do a nandroid backup of cleangb before you flash the sleeper rom. that way if you don't like sleeper rom, you can just revert back to the nandroid backup and continue where you left off.

Why would you lose everything? Providing both ROMs are on the same file system, do a nandroid, do your wipes, flash other ROM, do an Advanced Restore data from your nandroid. All apps and settings are back.

I don't know which recovery you are using but most are the same. Boot into recovery with the phone off, Press and hold in this order camer, volume down then power buttons. The recovery menu will come up. Scroll down to backup and restore, hit backup. You will see the advanced restore option to be used later.

I've used both, and I honestly prefer the latest SleeperROM. I switched from SleeperROM 1.0.09 BML to GleanGB 1.04 MTD and was greatly impressed. It was faster, more efficient. Battery life was a negligibly worse (could be my settings or use for that timeframe), but still a great improvement above most others. I didn't personally like the circle battery mod, but that's just me.
When SenseiSimple put out the 1.1.02a release that fixed for MTD, I immediately jumped ship back. Battery life on my phone is better than it's ever been. I have no problems with ANYTHING.
Overall, I think SleeperROM is just more polished.

Yup. I have nandroids of CM7 and Legendary and can switch back and forth in like 5 minutes. Just remember not to mix your BML and MTD. There are specific procedures for that stuff.

How do I cnage the boot animation on sleeper? With cleanGB it was very easy, copy and paste type stuff.
Looks like sleeper is a little harder?

It should be the same... If not, flash a different kernel.

The release notes say it can be done...but I cannot delete, rename or move the files that are in the media folder...frustrating...

Had to reinstall ESfile explorer to get the access to root option, but even after that when I moved the new file into media folder I still have original boot screen that comes with rom....

What did you name your boot ani as? Was sanim.zip or bootanimation.zip? Try the opposite of what you did.

Tried both ways, sanim and bootanimation did not work...I understand that the kernel should support the change of boot ani's...really puzzling.
Not that this is the correct place, but I also encountered an issue with the Swype app that came preinstalled with the rom, it was missing the US Eng file, which caused me to have to install swype seperately...there were a couple other minor inconveniences too.
Thanks for your assistance in trying to help nevertheless. I am thinking about going back to CleanGB, have had better experiences with it...

No problem. I just read through most of the ROM thread and it states to simply replace the bootanimation.zip with your own. Did you delete the one in the folder before copying yours into it?

I like the color and brightness from Toad's Kernel, and was wondering if you might have found a matching set of color settings that replicate it's brightness and color scheme.
Reason for this is to use a kernel governor. Want to try using voltage control with more governor settings than what is offered by his kernel, but like the color of it...if that makes sense!

Totally, you want an overdrive kernel but don't like voodoo color. Bbelos default colors in Shadowkernel work pretty well for me although still a little darker than stock colors. I think to make them a little brighter you have to boost the gamma values a little.

Thans Kenny! I have begged toad to add some governors to his kernel, but he expressed his disinterest....love his color, but would love to have smartassv2 along with his kernel.

I recently changed to rogue hitman kernel running current version of calk 2.8.1 i think. Since I did this did I loose

If so how would I go about re-enabling the battery saver script?
Even if the battery saver script is not disabled could I get help figuring out how to enable it if I were to go to another rom?
Yes I do own set CPU but I like not having to worry about 1 more program. And it would be great to learn how to apply to all my rom endeavors.

The undervolt scripts will not work on a stock Kernal so you need to use a Rogue or other non stock Kernal that supports voltage/clock adjustments.
If however you have SetCPU installed then the scripts are designed to not run to keep you from accidentally undervolting too much.

I am on the rouge hitman kernel, undervolting isn't an issue just trying to figure out how to get the battery saver script on this current setup.. I didn't see under his signature a download for his battery saver script

The script is installed in /system/ect/init.d and in my case is called
3cpufreq_screenstate_scaling
It runs automatically if there is a Kernal installed that supports init.d
"If SetCPU, Overclock Widget, Android Overclock or QuickClock Advanced Overclock are detected, the script is ignored, so it will not affect them"

If it is not there then you are probably not on Calkulin's Rom that they were designed for so I can't say. The Rom you are on may not support init.d scripts.

since you are writing to the /system folder, you may need to set certain permissions for it. i know that when i ran script manager for V6, it placed the script in the init.d folder, but i had to be "browsing" as root. i just assumed it set the permissions automatically. but i may be wrong, and if it doesnt need permissions, then yes. as long as you have a rom/kernel that supports init.d scripts, you can use it.

[Script]CPU Sleeper A100 Discontinued

Hey all, back again with a new present! I guess my hiatus didn't last that long.
This time I present to you a script that will in theory (and so far for me, in reality) save us some battery without having to risk our hardware with undervolting! I present to you...
CPU Sleeper
What is it?
Its a fairly simple script that will put CPU 1 OFFLINE when the screen turns off. Once the screen comes back on, it will allow CPU 1 back ONLINE.
How does it work?
Since we have dual core CPUs, we have a CPU 0 and a CPU 1, core 1 and core 2, while the screen is off we really only need to have 1 core active, this script will make sure CPU 1 shuts off while the screen is off, then resumes normal usage when the screen comes back on.
Who do we thank for this awesome script?
eugene373 is the one that released this for the T989 (the phone I use) and I thought, hey, with our crappy battery life, we could use this! So, I asked his permission to repost it over here for us, and he was great with his reply, be sure to stop by and give him a thanks!

WARNING! READ THIS!
This script relies on init.d OR script manager! CM9, for some reason, tends to run this at the exact same time it runs some other script (I forget atm which) and it will clash, causing no boot! CM9 users MUST use the script manager version install! Flex Reaper appears to work fine with it as init.d. I strongly urge you to use the script manager version of this, NOT the flashable version. Always make a nandroid backup before modifying the system, including this!
Instructions
Available in 2 versions, script only version which you can place wherever you want and run however you want, or a CWM/TWRP flashable zip that will place the file for you in /system/etc/init.d and set permissions.
Version 1: Flashable
Same as any of my flashable releases, I did most of the work for you!
Make a full backup
Download to external SD card
Install from SD card
Pick the cpu sleeper zip file
it'll be almost instant
reboot
Shouldn't be any need to clear caches or anything like that.
Version 2: Script only
This can be run in 2 ways, via init.d support, or via script manager. Both are pretty similar, and can be done a number of ways, however this is the basis of how.
Init.d supported kernel:
Make a backup!
Download the script file, making sure no extensions get added onto the file. Copy the file to /system/etc/init.d and set the permissions to the following:
XOX
XOX
XOX
Once done, reboot the system, and it will take effect when your system is finished rebooting.
Script Manager
This method is probably the better method, and should work with any kernel/ROM. Download the script file, making sure no file extensions get added, and copy it to /system/etc. Set the file permissions to:
XOX
XOX
XOX
Once done, load up script manager, select browse as root (if it isn't already set from the crossix mod method in the guide) then browse to /system/etc and select the script file S98cpu_sleep, then select ROOT and BOOT options. After this is set, reboot system.
What do I do if I can't boot after using this?
You made that backup, right? Ok, then here is what you do.
Hold the power button until the tablet powers off
Press and hold the volume down button, next to the screen lock switch
Press and hold Power (while holding volume down)
Once the recover kernel message comes up, release the buttons
In CWM go to advanced, mounts, mount system, then format system
In TWRP, go to wipe, then wipe system
In CWM go to restore, advanced restore, restore ONLY system
In TWRP select restore, then uncheck all so ONLY system is checked
After restoring system, wipe cache and dalvik cache, then reboot system.
System should boot normally.
Downloads
Available in 2 versions, script only version which you can place wherever you want and run however you want, or a CWM/TWRP flashable zip that will place the file for you in /system/etc/init.d and set permissions.

Honestly I don't know, I've never had SoD on my Acer so I didn't even know it was much of a problem. You could try it, but I don't think it'll do much to help that issue. For me I've found turning off wifi when I plug it in for the night helps with SoD issues on my other devices. And in developer options check keep awake. That usually helps.

Yeah he's been hammering out kernels for us since we got ICS and source on the 11th, busting ass and making some awesome kernels!

That error is usually caused by a bad download.

Thanks for that, never seen it or heard of it before. Either way I'm going to go back over it and double check, and add a /system/etc version for use with script manager. Same basic flash, just not in init.d. While I'm at it, I'm thinking of making a flasher for SU, for those having issues with SU and busybox.

I've got it installed using script manager. How do I know it's running/working?

Try: busybox ps l |grep nameofscript
You will need busybox and grep binaries in your rom, neither are provided with stock but both should be if you are using cm9/10.

I got that error, too! Redownloaded to check.
Since "flashable zip that will place the file for you in /system/etc/init.d and set permissions" it has to be that way on original ICS ROM (not supporting init.d), right?

No, that just means it puts the file there and sets the permissions, it doesn't need anything to be there first. Why would it already need to be there?
If stock ICS doesn't support init.d then this won't magically make it work, you'll need a new kernel.

Yeah I missed this one when I was marking them before. I no longer actively support the a100 as of a few days ago. I'll still respond and over some support on my past projects, just won't update anything.

Not much you can do without physcially having an a100
Plus, I'm sure the Nexus 7 is much more fun!

Error loafing profile wicked rom

After I installed the wicked rom I try to underclock it because it comes with its own tool and its over clocked but I keep getting an error .

yeah i didnt like that app so i just uninstalled it from titanium backup. Now I just use set cpu and everything is working good.

probably at whatever you have it at now. It wont change just because you uninstall it. But once you uninstall it and use another app like setcpu or something you can change the clock to 1.5 or whatever you like and it will stick.

Ok good. Because every time I change it to 1.4 on this apps it never sticks and always goes back to 1.7 and I don't want that much because of battery .

Yeah it should stick, make sure you check set on boot in set cpu.
Also you might want to try upgrading your kernel. im on trinity 43b and its amazing.

All I have done to my phone so far is rooted and installed wicked rom. I am not familiar with kernels. Can you guide me

Alright you may want to do some more research first.
But to install the trinity kernel 43b stock here are the steps.
1) go to tmobile original android development fourm and click on trinity thread
2)read the thread (lots of useful information and you can see other peoples results...at least skim the thread)
3)go to original post (1st post) click on the blue website image/logo you will be redirected. On the left click on the tmob/atnt link and download 43b stock kernel.
4)put it on sd card
5) go to cwm wipe cache and dalvik cache
6)flash above kernel from your sd card
7)Reboot phone
8)change your settings in setcpu or wherever
9) Enjoy

That sounds very simple just like installing the rom. I might give it a shot and see if I get better results. BTW changing my clock it seems better now !
