Do not order this MHL cable: - Galaxy S III Accessories

I ordered this MHL cable that specifically says it's made just for S3 12 days ago but hasn't turned up, so I emailed the seller asking why it hasn't turned up yet and got this reply:
we have just realised these cables are not compatible with the s3,
would you like to wait till the correct cable comes in or shall we refund
your money\?
kind regards
sunny savers.
And they didn't even try to explain why I didnt receive it even though I got email delivery confirmation 12 days ago.

Thanks for warning users.
Personally, I don't think it is that vendors fault. Samsung said that the SGS3 had MHL. There have been more then 100 devices with MHL so far and they have all been compatible with each other.
There was no way for the vendor of that MHL cable (or anyone else) to know that the SGS3's MHL port is not really an MHL port.

Yeah but it looks like the seller knew that before I even put the order in yet still took payment and confirmed delivery, because after 11 days I asked them to confirm it had been sent and they just said they found out it isn't compatible and it wasn't until I emailed them that they informed me of this, and you know maybe it just got lost in the post but I really think it's more than that.

Is this MHL adapter good?

I need an MHL adapter ASAP. Does anyone have any experience with this MHL adapter?
Thanks!
EDIT:
What about this one! http://www.amazon.com/Skiva-Adapter...F8&qid=1341247731&sr=8-5&keywords=mhl+adapter
I have that one. It's worked with both a LG G2X and a Samsung Galaxy Note. I think most devices need to be hooked up in sequence for it to work properly (charger first then HDMI, or vice versa).
Edit: Oops, I meant Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket, not LG G2X (that one had its own HDMI out). Too many devices last year...
The reviews from people owning the Galaxy Nexus state that it has awful performance.

I just noticed the extra reviews. I need one for vacation, and this was one of the top ones on Amazon. If this doesn't work, I can always return it. That's not a problem. I just really need one.
Do you have any recommendations for MHL adapters on Amazon?
What about the other one in my OP?
I have the Skiva one. Works well. I PM'd you about it.
If you need one "ASAP" why not just run down to the TMobile store and pick one up.
I just bought one off of monoprice, 9 dollars. I'm sure by reviews it will work fine and monoprice has never failed me.

I don't have a TMobile store near me at all, and plus, I'd like to not pay out me butt cheeks. I need one by tomorrow and I figured I could use Amazon and get it for cheap with one day shipping with my Prime account.

That's too expensive when I toss in shipping. I would definitely have checked them out if I would have thought about this sooner. Sadly, I just thought about it last night, but I was busy with work.

[Q] Best HDMI Adapter for JellyBean ROMs?

Could I get this adapter and us it with the custom JellyBean ROMs? (specifically Viscious Liquid 4.1.1-V1).
http://www.amazon.com/Micro-USB-HDMI-MHL-Adapter/dp/B005NG71K8
It looks like that one goes to a regular HDMI (instead of micro HDMI) which is nice, and also has the USB port extended for charging as well.
Thanks!
I can't say if it's the exact same or not, but mine looks identical to that one, right down to the writing on it. I got it from monoprice (actually cablesonsale.ca, which sells monoprice stuff in Canada). It works great.
The micro USB port isn't just for charging though... you have to plug it in for the adapter to work. At least with mine, anyway.

Anyway, please come back and let us know how it's working out, I want to get one too.

Smartdock and motorola lapdock...

has anybody with proper cables tried hooking up the gnote2/smartdock to a motorola lapdock? that would be friggin' awesome if the lapdock completely works with a hdmi cable and the keyboard/trackpad if functional with a usb from the smartdock. i really have no interest in the smartdock as i have mhl already so the smartdock would be redundant for me in the few situations i use mhl but if it works with the lapdock then a whole bunch of possibilities arise and my laptop would probably never ever leave the house.
so anybody know, tried, working on it, interested etc.? i was planning on selling my atrix/lapdock soon but seeing i need to order a couple things from samsung this week i am thinking of trying it. the thing is though, the smartdock has been unavailable on their website and $100 is too expensive for me to just experiment for hahas. if it becomes available and i can snatch it for $50 with a half off coupon then i will order the other cables necessary to try.
I would be interested in this as well. There is another new thread asking about it (though yours in newer).

Thanks. Didn't see that. Problem is finding a smart dock now. Amazon has no stock. There are 2 on eBay at let me empty your bank account prices. Samsung has no indication if and when these will be back in stock. So now the question remains... anybody want to sell their smart dock for a reasonable price so I can test this?

Supposedly the dock will be back in stock mid February. It is likely amazon will have it a few days before Samsung's website has it though. Don't ask me why.

Would a OnePlus 3 USB Type-C OTG adapter work for OnePlus 2?

Been trying to get the damn OTG thing to work, but no luck. After a lot of searching around XDA forums, among other places, came to the realisation that only the official OnePlus MicroUSB to Type-C adapter supports OTG. Too bad they don't sell them anymore and I can't find any elsewhere online.
They do sell a newer version for the OP3 on their online store and I was wondering if that would work too. I ask because I've already got a thousand cables and adapters I've tried that didn't work, so I don't wanna drop any more cash on this.
Tried to contact OP support and they didn't really seem to understand what I wanted and just said it would work "because it's USB Type-C". Yeah, so were all the other damn cables I bought.
TL;DR: Would a OnePlus 3 USB Type-C OTG adapter work for OnePlus 2?
UPDATE: Original Xiaomi USB Type-C to Micro USB Adapter works.

Hi!
My bro had a 1+2, he bought an USB cable Type-C OTH from OnePlus store... he had tried to connect an USB several times, but it doesn't work :'(
OK awesome, so basically stay the f*** away from OP in the future is the lesson here.
Hi there, in my fourth purchase of OTG have purchased a fully compatabile one for my OP2. I am finally able to connect with out any issues. I have purchased it from Indian ebay for ₹68/- only. But works like a champ. The model or company name is MX in caps written on the OTG which is black in colour.
usb otg
When i bought my OnePlus 2 i purchased the microusb otg cable and the microusb to type c adapter and have no issues with it working. it could be a a possible compatibility issue or maybe the rom you're on doesn't support otg.
Hello. I'm from India too. I'm not finding any product branded as MX. I would really appreciate if you can share the link form where you bought it.
Thanks in advance

Tried and worked on LineageOS 14.1, Stock OOS , and MIUI
Little update, in case anyone else is looking for OTG support the Original Xiaomi USB Type-C to Micro USB Adapter works. They're a *bleep* to find in Europe, but you can get them on tinydeal (ships from China)
https://www.tinydeal.com/original-xiaomi-usb-type-to-micro-usb-adapter-p-156512.html
Came to the UK in less than 2 weeks with the cheapest shipping option (also free shipping available, but would've taken more than 2 weeks).
Thanksyou for letting me know. I am Happy that it is worked for you.

I have it, it works, but it is only more annoying since that part is large and straight under the phone
..
I use this with no issue as I can use any MicroUSB otg adapters with it and can charge the phone via MicroUSB cables in a pinch

HDMI Out?

https://store.google.com/product/moshi_usb_c_hdmi_adapter
Google officially sells this adapter and I double checked with google support and specifically asked if this works with the pixel 2 PHONE and not just the pixel book. Their response was "yes this was specifically designed to work with the pixel 2 phone". I didn't want to pay $50 so I found what I thought was the exact same thing on amazon for about half the price. It was still the Moshi USB-C to HDMI Adapter. When i got it in I could not get it to work. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I couldn't get it to show anything via HDMI. So I was thinking... ok maybe the Google store version is just slightly different since the support said it should work. The other option is support was just wrong and didnt know what they were talking about. My question is does anyone have this and can anyone confirm the Pixel 2 does HDMI out? I dont want to waste money buying the $50 adapter if it doesnt work and then have to send it back.
I believe support had no idea what they were talking about. The Pixel phones do no support video out of any kind through the UBS-C port
