toggle wi-fi direct widget - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps (US Carriers)

been looking all over and can't seem to find a toggle wi-fi direct widget also love one for nfc.

edit: I totally misunderstood what you were asking for
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app

the wifi direct option , i would like a widget to toggle it off an on . also one for nfc

if it can be done with an intent then I can do it with tasker. I did some research on it yesterday and I wasn't able to figure it out. I haven't done much with intents and couldn't find much info in it in the tasker documentation so I'm probably doing it wrong.

i tried to use anycut as well but no luck

hi,
I'm also looking for a way to activate/disable wifi-direct and NFC with one click. A widget would be great.
I also searched the actions through apex launcher menu but none .
any ideas ?

(Q) Alternative to Widgetsoid?

It seems this Widgetsoid has been abandoned. The battery info switch doesn't display the correct battery info from the setting.
I contacted the author and got no answer.
So what do you use for toggle settings widget?
Widgetsoid was very good and powerful btw.

That's strange because the battery on there works perfectly and is dead accurate on my GSM stock galaxy nexus

It works yes, but if I click it, I got the phone info from the settings.
And not the battery details information.
Extended Controls is not compatible with ICS yet, I read on it's market entry. They are working on it though.

I would also like to know! Thread subscribed. A shame about Widgetsoid.

On the Market entry, at What's New it says "Added Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwitch) compatibily"(sic). I admit I didn't test it yet...

Exactly, especially because I paid for it. Well, for such an inexpensive price, I won't complain much. But this kind of developer attitude make me sad.

FWIW, if you visit the dev's Facebook and Twitter pages, he mentioned this week that updates are on hold because his computer crashed and took his source code with it. He's trying to find a backup, but in the meantime it might be worth a try to contact him via either of those for help with the battery info issue.
Ok, hope he will update soon ...
Great to know it wasn't abandoned!

I use Notification Toggle. It also looks nice with the ICS blue. I paid for extended controls but havent used it in so long ever since Gingerbread.....too many bugs. Quicker is another good app ive used but i like a set of toggles that mimics touchwiz and/or cyanogenmod and this app does that nicely.

I purchased extended controls too. Its a good app.
I've tried several, 'extended control', 'widgetsoid' and switchpro:
- ec and widgetsoid can use notification bar
- none of them can activate the flash
- none of them can activate the gps, only redirect to the settings page, widgetsoid developer states in the facebook page that is an ICS security limitation but official widget is able to activate/desactivate the gps!
- only ec can activate/desactivate wifi tethering
- battery status is ok
- all of them are resizable with BRD Launcher at 241 DPI but not of all them can be installed directly from the market
Until GPS problem is fixed i'm keeping the official widgets

Someone needs to tell him that data doesn't exist unless it is in two places.
It surprises me that people who work on computers or computer related tech fail to back their stuff up.

Anybody using Tasker?

Hi all,
Any Tasker users (with secure settings) can give me some advice?
I have been trying to figure a way to enable gps via an sms text (or even if it is possible) . :banghead:
I have a number of profiles set so when i use certain programs gps is enabled automatically (saves having to switch it on manually each time) and mobile data off, keygaurd off etc etc, got all that working, but I would like 1 that turns my gps on via sms (for a security app).
Any ideas?
Darren

Oh ok. I didn't try it either, so I can't 100% guarantee that it'll work either.
Go into your secure settings app and go to the helper tab and install the helper. Make sure it is enabled.
I had the same issue.

Got it working with a little help from the Dev
Create a profile with an event Received Text. In the Body parameter put the keyword text you are looking for, then use secure setting GPS Enabled as the event...Bingo!!
i have tried this application before, but i think it's too complex.

I haven't found anything to link it to, no.
But NFC Task Launcher can link to tasker...thus bringing you said functionality.

Rom suggestion based on...

I got wife a gs3 and I'm looking for a rom for her. Not having the phone for myself I'm not able to be the flashaholic I normally am for myself. So for people that have flashed a few here, is there one based off what she/I am looking for.
She actually likes touchwiz, so I am hoping there is one with a stock theme, preferably not really themed. I think I prefer it odexed, because from what I understand (I could be wrong) is that with the setup of an odexed rom it is a bit faster feeling. Also more importantly, it has a voice removed with the double tap home button using the voice search/assistant of Google now/search. This maybe common practice but I'm not sure of the community favor of s voice, I find it slower and not as good in my opinion.
If this is an annoyance for a rom suggestion thread, I apologize. Just looking for the guidance of people that for frequently flash the roms offered by this phones devs, and the familiarity of what they offer.
*edit*
After doing research on odexed/deodexed nature, it seems the advantage of odexed comes from only the initial boot. So unless what I have gathered from that little bit research is false, the odexed portion is not important to me.

Graviton or CS ROM.
Graviton is themed but black and blue colored... Not really themed per say. Simple to ogles and all the ztouchwix stuff she would want. Great battery and my wife will actually use my phone with this one.
Only major changes is debloated some and asop MMS and you have to add gs3 weather widget is she wants it....which is easy to do. Also comes with the 4.2 camera. Swap or Samsung keyboard for 4.2 one and she will love it.
dev is awesome as well. He's makes both. Intergalactic is a great one too.

ROM Suggestion
I've been using TWRP and Vanilla Rootbox. I find them very reliable, fast, and well supported. With all the options, you'll probably have to try a few and follow your preferences.
Cheers.
Is the s voice still equipped? If so is there a way to get Google search/now to work in the same manner that s voice does, i.e. double tapping home?

I cant speak for other launchers, but Nova allows you to set any action you want for the home button from your home screen. So, setting the home button to open Google Now from the home screen essentially turns a double press of the home button into automatically opening Google Now. It would be a convenient workaround and would work excatly the same.

Weebo app

I'm using the avatar ROM and it has a weebo app that allows you to use it to do functions automatically based off your location. I've been trying to get it to put my WiFi on and off when I leave my house. Ive let it recognize my location numerous of times. I don't know if I have my settings right or what. Another thing I'm trying to do is create my own rules using this app as well. So anyone with some assistance would be appreciated, thanks.

If you're using that "weebo" app for that, I would highly recommend purchasing Tasker from the play store. Awesome app, frequent updates, and can be set up to do a huge range of things based on profiles and specific parameters, including what you're trying to do.

Basically, Weebo is similar to Tasker, but you can do a whole lot more with Tasker, and since it's been around for years now, there are a whole lot of tutorials on how to program automation in it. The auto-on or auto-off of wifi is one of the more basic things you can do with Tasker (and there are tons of tutorials on it).

Query S Pen status

I'm trying to google if it is possible to check spen status by querying file or variable. Can't find anything useful, maybe someone is aware if this is possible?
I want to setup Tasker profile, which would enable/disable nav bar (Pa rom) every time spen is attached/detached.

Thanks mate, however this is yet another app running in the background. I was rather hoping there is a way of doing everything in tasker (shell script) . Still, this is great, usefull tip, many thanks.
