Kernel Tweaks & Information by ktoonzes:
ktoonservative Governor
This governor is based on conservative, but added some tunable vars and made it a hotplugging governor unlike conservative. With the settings I included stock it is probably the most responsive gov and is pretty good at saving battery as well. Especially with my screen off option to limit the CPU top Mhz. Hope that answers all ur questions.

I don't see why not
I did not include it because when I used it today, it seemed I was eating more battery. That's my PERSONAL experience with it, I'm not going to bash his work.

uoY_redruM said:
Oh yeah! First shot, perfect boot and no FCs!!!! I was expecting a lot of FCs since I didn't test any of the new MODs and such. Let me clean some things up really quick, test a few more things to be safe. Keep an eye out for a new thread soooooon
Also, after I get this uploading, I'll play with the sound increase mod (or decrease in this case).

Are you releasing this build and redruM simultaneously or is this the one you were talking about in the redruM thread.

So just a question. This isn't going to flash over my kernel is it? Thanks ahead

redruM will be a separate ROM. I want that one to stay relatively stock while this one will be the heavily modded one. Hopefully themed eventually too.

It should be. I DO NOT include anything kernel related that could screw up your phone if you're not on T-Mobile. I had several users post in the Lean Stock thread that it was working fine on AT&T. If there is an issue, let me know please so I can make sure to clarify that in the OP.
You should not have an issue though, to my knowledge.

These kernels are provided as-is without warranty. I'm not responsible for any problem you can encounter with your phone or if your cat suddenly dies.
Although, don't expect support even if I will eventually help since I love cats.
Note : These kernels are only compatible with CyanogenMod and MIUI roms !

port : 6667
Channel : #glitchkernel
Overview :
- Up to 1.7GHz CPU OC with added bus/GPU OC (Thanks to morfic for the great base of work)
- Undervolting (using third party apps)
- Voodoo Sound & Voodoo Color (Thanks Supercurio & renaudallard)
- FPS uncap (Screen running 68Hz instead of 60Hz, from 56 to 66 FPS max) from JPX source
- Various tweaks for more smoothness and reliability
- LED notifications using Neldar's BLN
CHANGELOGS IN #2 POSTThe frequency/voltage & informative UV settings table is as follow for V13 kernel :
Note that these UV settings will be unstable on many devices. It's only informative.
1700 MHz - [email protected] 243 MHz - 1.500v / -> Most phones will fail here. -25 to -50mV may help to stabilize. Much stabler as unique frequency for benchmarks.
1600 MHz - [email protected] 229 MHz - 1.500V / -> That's high and many devices will fail on this frequency. Find working UV for you if any.
1500 MHz - [email protected] 250 MHz - 1.500V / -25mV
1440 MHz - [email protected] 240 MHz - 1.475V / -50mV
1400 MHz - [email protected] 233 MHz - 1.450V / -50mV
1300 MHz - [email protected] 217 MHz - 1.400V / -50mV
1200 MHz - [email protected] 200 MHz - 1.350V / -50mV
1000 MHz - [email protected] 200 MHz - 1.250V / -50mV - If you have stability issues, try to let this one by default.
800 MHz - [email protected] 200 MHz - 1.200V / -75mV
400 MHz - [email protected] 200 MHz - 1.050V / -100mV
200 MHz - [email protected] 200 MHz - 0.950V / -150mV
100 MHz - [email protected] 100 MHz - 0.950V / -200mV - (can be very different between two devices)
GPU frequency is linked to bus speed
More volts is not always equal to more stability. Try to add more UV (less volts) if the frequency you're trying to achieve is unstable.
Considering all phones will respond differently to OC/UV, to tweak the values to suit your device will be required.
By default, no overclock/undervolt is applied. You'll need to use one of the tools below to adjust the frequencies and voltages.

- New PMEM settings for more available RAM (now 331MB)
- 1.54GHz step added with some gentle settings for now.
- New step by step frequency switch when scaling down (part of the Galaxy S II port from Bilboa1) - more stability on highest frequencies
- Corrections and further tweaking on smartass governor + some fixes from Netarchy (Nexus S). 400MHz lock when screen is on removed (not needed anymore -> more power saving)
- Higher cache for faster SDcard read speed
- New sleep settings : Effective lock to 400MHz max when screen is off -> fix long wake up/hiccups when playing music or similar use. Be careful with your UV settings on 200 and 400MHz steps to avoid sleep of death problems ! These were not used on previous versions of my kernel (locked to 100 MHz when screen off and locked to 400MHz when screen on with a buggy gap in smartass governor forcing generally 600+ MHz)
- 600 MHz step removed (it was generating instabilities on some phones when jumping to 800 or down to 400 when using UV)
- Some voltage tweaks for added stability on some devices (as always)

- Little surprise, thanks to Morfic
- Updated to V9A² to fix SOD and some performance issues
21/05/2011 - V9B
- Upstream sync (CWM recovery 3.1.0.1, better screen colors (kills voodoo color for now and looks awful on my 0516 build, but should be good on latest), GPIO fixes, samsung modemctl...) + small changes on my side for official CyanogenMod repository compatibility
- Voodoo Sound updated to V9 / cleaned voodoo color stuff until it works again
- New cleaner bootlogo based on the one in first post, preferred by most users
- Some additional compilation flags from Netarchy and Zacharias.maladroit (better overall performances + NEON)

- Added screenstate scaling script from well.heeled.man as a test (with my kernel's smartass default settings). It should give better sleep power consumption as well as better power efficiency on screen off tasks like music playing etc. by switching to conservative governor.
If you want more information, discuss on this or contribute to enhance it, please come here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087646

Alternative version now available (V9B-VC) using old AMOLED panel color/gamma settings and with Voodoo Color V2 added back.
24/05/2011 - V9C TO USE WITH CM7 Nightly build #12 OR HIGHER ONLY
(Updated to fix "no service" issue, but still sucks.. unstable on #12 build, very stable on others but no service)
- Upstream sync (PMEM disabled (gives 339MB RAM now), new RIL, headset fixes...)
- Divider changes for MUCH better stability on 1.2GHz at the cost of a slight decrease on performances
- New branch with Voodoo Color display driver and "old" color settings named "VC"
- Fix for Vibrant no service problem - hopefully
- Small changes on smartass governor for better scalability (reverts some old settings not needed anymore with the screenstate script)
- Glitch logo now in update script too for nanu_x2 to be amazed when installing my kernel
24/05/2011 - V9D TO USE WITH CM7 Nightly build #11 OR LOWER (for i9000, or cappy/vibrant equivalent) AND MIUI ONLY
First "D" revision.. Sound like duty. It's basically a fix of a fix done to make the V9C features available for "stable builds" (considering the i9000 #12 isn't)
- Obviously all the V9C changelog
- Using old RIL to be compatible with builds before #12 for I9000 (--> WON'T WORK with #12 for i9000 or equivalent !)
- Replaced 1.54GHz step by 1.6GHz (1.54GHz step was somewhat useless, too close to 1.5Ghz, and slower overall because of the lower bus speed)
- I can't build Vibrant ATM, the CM7 build system is broken on this device or I'm doing something wrong but I wasn't able to fix it. Any help is appreciated. I'm sorry for Vibrant users I'm screwed.V8
07/05/2011 - V8A - To use with 05062011 or newer CM7 build (useable on MIUI RC8 but you'll lose camera - MIUI needs an update)
- Upstream sync (camera fixes etc.)
- More stability fixes
- Cleanups on OC code (found that 1.2 and 1.3GHz were very unstable compared to earlier releases)
- More work on Vibrant/Captivate. The kernels are now available to download but are untested - for now. Feel free to try and report any problem or if all runs well. If I have enough positive reviews, these kernels will be released in their respective device sections.
11/05/2011 - V8B
Upstream sync only :
- USB switch suspend
- TV out stuff
- Fascinate specifics
- Revert "Got back to previous samsung_modemctl" for 05112011 CM7 build
V7
02/05/2011 - V7A - To use with 05012011 or newer CM7 build and MIUI RC8+ only
- Resurrect Voodoo Color killed by 2.3.4 merge.
- New step for 1.5GHz on top of 1.44GHz (now 9 steps total versus 8 before)
- Forcing 400MHz max when sleeping for added battery life (default = 800). Couldn't detect any side effect.
- New tweaked Smartass governor now default (800MHz min when screen on). Please report your experience
- It seems the smartass governor is not working by default, it will revert to performance >< Please force it to get it to work -> Ok found the problem, I'll update in a min
- Now updated to V7A-2 to fix the governor bug
03/05/2011 - V7B - To use with 05012011 or newer CM7 build and MIUI RC8+ only
- Resurrect Voodoo Color killed by 2.3.4 merge - Again - fully working now
- Fixed sleep of death issue when unplugged
- Switched to LZO compression for better overall speed and reduced boot time
- Tweaked smartass governor more for - hopefully - better battery life and a bit more responsivity
- New voltage and frequency table rewrite as a bonus with now 11 frequencies total
- Stability fixes on 1.5GHz step -> please test and report
- Reverted FPS uncap - at least for now - for two main reasons : more stability on high GPU freqs (1.4GHz and more), and to prevent FPS limit at max/2 (33 when unlocked to 66), limiting overall performances in heavy scenes. I think there's a lack of buffering somewhere.. It will give higher scores on some benchmarks, and lower on others. A better battery life can indeed be expected too.
- Upstream sync
05/05/2011 - V7C - To use with 05032011 or newer CM7 build and MIUI RC8+ only
- Upstream sync (better battery life, reboot recovery, etc.)
- A general stability fix missing from V7 branch added back
- Tiny tweaks on the voltage table
- Big bugfix on the V7 branch (redone from scratch, cleaner)
- Switched to 2011.03 toolchain
- Added some optimization flags, "-mfloat-abi=hard" being one of them (up to 40% performance gains in specific cases)
- Small improvements here and thereV6

(thanks Zach for your suggestion)
25/04/2011 - V6pre - update 4
- Cleanups on Led notifications to resolve a bug (buttons stopped working randomly for some users)
- More typo corrections
- Voodoo Sound V8
- Various bugfixes on CPU load and schedulers
- CONFIG_CC_OPTIMIZE_FOR_SIZE disabled for speed
- Lower latency on GPU states switch for stabler performances
- Added a stability fix for voltage change latency when frequency is changing. It should give more stability with high undervolt or big voltage differences between two steps - Please test and report ! (Thanks Zach for pointing that to me)
- Two versions for testing purposes : V6pre-u4 is compiled using GCC 4.5.1 toolchain, and V6pre-u4(alt) is compiled using GCC 4.4.3 one. If you get instabilities on the first one, try the other and vice versa. Please report your findings on that because it was the first stability differences source between my kernel revisions. For information, V6pre-u2 was compiled with 4.4.3, and u3 with 4.5.1.

- New sensors drivers added
- Normalized 1.5GHz bus speed (GPU will now run @ 250MHz versus 247MHz before. It can affect your stability !)
- Int voltage lowered for 1.5GHz step because it did have a bad effect on lower frequencies stability
- GPU power latency back to default - but fixed (100ms)
29/04/2011 - V6B - To use with 04282011 or newer CM7 build only
- New initramfs source to fix compass and update CWM recovery

- GPU overclock on 1.3 GHz added (217MHz / +8.5% from default)
- New PMEM settings for more available RAM compared to V5A (now 328MB)
- Stability fixes for all frequencies, needing globally less volts. Results may vary depending on the device
- Switched to Conservative governor by default (still switchable by app). It can feel less responsive coming from idle but more battery saving, and plays better with high frequencies.
- New voltage table. Default settings should be stabler for most devices.
- Switched to 4.4.3 toolchain for added stability on some sensitive devices
Captivate and Vibrant support will come later. It will need more time than expected.
21/04/2011 - V5C : Small update to fix a bootloop issue on some devices.

Thanks a lot, goign to try it soon.
I have a question: what is a stock frequency of GPU and is it possible to control it?
If no, can you release 2 versions: with and without GPU OC?

The stock frequency for the GPU is 200MHz. It's not possible to control it directly because it's linked to the bus. The bus clock being a fixed value by frequency step.
Up to 1300 MHz, the GPU runs at 200MHz. At 1400MHz it runs @ 233 MHz, and at 1440MHz it runs @ 240MHz.
The bus frequency increase will lead to higher memory bandwidth and a better productivity from the CPU.
A version without GPU OC would mean with lower global performances too on the highest frequency steps, but better stability for some sensitive devices.
I'll wait a bit for more opinions if you're okay, and if some of you wants a stock GPU version i'll do it, no problem
Hm.. after flashing i got boot loop..
I'm on MIUI

What kernel did you use before ?
great
man, you are so cool... bilboas kernel died in development, and platypus is soo lagy, and still autorotation problems... thank you for this, everything looking working great, so far...
looking great on first install. I like it! Thanks.

That's OK because I am not going to OC that high and will keep at 1200 as maximum.
Thank you once again for your efforts.
I have zacharias last kernel can install this one over?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
@ mosd Sure you can. His init.d scripts could interfere with stability and/or speed though I don't know. You'll have to tell me, I didn't test that at all ^^

To delete the scripts ? Not needed, you can do that with zach's kernel.
For something else.. hmm.. not needed, you can flash mine directly^^
If I'm on Miui and install your kernel do I still have to install the gpu drivers u put up?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
@mosd
If it's the latest MIUI, I don't think so. This driver should already be included.
Thanks for answers man
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
No problem
Since the gpu oc is linked to cpu oc I suppose it's impossible to make gpu clock higher from 1300mhz..right?cause not all phones clock up to 1400

A quick message from ME!
I have NEVER, sold this rom, nor any open source software.
Nor, have I ever CHARGED money for access to my early releases.
The issue was with kernel source code, (or lack of it)
and in my public voice of dissatisfaction
Again, never have sold ANYTHING! But according to the GPL, I can.
Apparently, every single developer,
more so kernels and applications, developed under the GPL,
are required to have a source code up.
Kernels are GPL, my rom's apps are Apache
PLEASE REPORT ANY THREADS
OR DEVELOPERS
of roms/kernels & apps
THAT DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE GPL!!!!
It is illegal software.
Alot of paid apps are GPL, and a source code is required
Also:
According to XDA: having a contributor release, is acceptable, but not preferred by xda.
Therefore: the Contributor program will remain.
Kernel source added: go to my website, and hit the information tab.
Although, I choose to advertise my work on XDA:
because of recent treatment, I will not be here, much
I will check in here, from time to time,
but I much prefer you join me on my website.
Fell free to post and discuss here, there...anywhere!
Thank you, everyone, who showed your support, while I was XDA banned
ROM Permissions:
NO part of BOCA may be relinked, nor uploaded anywhere.
Period.
Nor distributed in whole or part, without my permission,
and possibly the other developers whose work is in BOCA.
KERNEL Permissions:
full permissions granted,

Major thanks to Humbros & Ronis for this newest release
I look forward to reading your BOCA reviews

Sounds like an outside issue.
I have over 8000 current euro users, as in, using right now.
havent heard them say its an issue.
Maybe reflash modem.
Because BOCA doesnt change modem.
If your modem worked before BOCA, it should still be the same.
-diz
Ps, yes its daily driver status.
And has awesome battery.
No more 'less than a day, and its dead'

I have not tested, though.
just remember, kernel only, not the overcome rom
Can anyone confirm thats its still okay?

Known BugsSplash Screens will only work on TouchWiz
Working on finding out the cause of these issues. Please report bugs in either of the Team Kernelizers threads.
This is still in Beta, more is yet to come!!!!!!
Kernel InformationGeneral Installation Instructions (for both TW and AOSP):1. Download correct version of kernel for your device and rom. This is important as you may brick your phone is you use the wrong version.
2. Flash kernel using your preferred recovery
3. Do the following AFTER installing the kernel and BEFORE you reboot your phone:
a. Clear cache
b. Clear dalvik
c. Fix Permissions
4. Reboot your device.
TW Specific Kernel Instructions:
(can be used with AOSP too)There are some files on your TouchWiz phone that need to be renamed in order to maximize the battery life of your phone. There has been some debate on whether or not this is necessary, but for now we would recommend renaming these files to ensure that there is no chance of excessive battery drain.
Part 1:
These steps are only necessary on TouchWiz ROMs, however you can also do this on AOSP as well:
1. You must have ROOT. You will need to have a root enabled file explorer on your phone (ES File Explorer works very well and you can get it from the play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en). When you get it, open it up and go the the settings and scroll all the way down until you see the Root Settings. Go in there and enable ALL of the root settings.
2. After that is done, navigate to your root folders using the Folder Up icon at the top. Once you are in your root folders, navigate to /system/bin and locate the following files. You will need to rename them with a ".bak" at the end of the filename
gsiff_daemon --> gsiff_daemon.bak
mpdecision --> mpdecison.bak
qosmgr --> qosmgr.bak
smd --> smd.bak
smdexe --> smdexe.bak
Renaming these files will not harm your phone. Many users rename these files every time they flash a rom, and no damge is done.
Also, some ROMs come with these files renamed or deleted entirely, so if you don’t find a file, don’t be alarmed.
You have to do this every time you flash the ROM and/or Kernel.
If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself, you can use the TK-MOD (see Downloads section) and it will handle this for you.
Part 2:
Stopping mpdecision from being called:
1. Open terminal emulator and type the following code:
su
2. When terminal emulator asks for root permission hit 'Grant' or 'Allow'.
3. At the # prompt type:
stop mpdecision
Using Rom Toolbox (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox) we will make a script that will stop mpdecision from being called at each boot so you don't need to use terminal emulator each time
1. Open Rom Toolbox and scroll down to the Scripter option
2. In the scripter, click the “+” button in the top right corner, then select 'Create'
3. Type a name for our new script, lets call it “stop mpdecision”
4. In the commands enter the following text:
#!/system/bin/sh
stop mpdecision
5. Hit the disk icon to save it
6. Select the script that you just created and a dialog box should pop up, select set at boot
Were done here
AOSP Specific Kernel Instructions:When coming from a 3.0 Kernel to a 3.4 Kernel there is a new method with kernel updates. Skipping these steps will cause phone instability, due to some bad data left behind. This is a flaw in the Android OS, not the application. You must follow the instructions below (Thanks ktoonzs for the new method of the ktweaker app)
1. Go to Settings on the phone
2. Go to app manager then all apps
3. Scroll down to ktweaker app n open it
4. Once open hit FORCE STOP and then hit CLEAR DATA
5. Reboot and flash your new update of ktoonzs kernel
6. Repeat steps 1-4 in the above “General Installation” section
You should be good to go after that

PERSONAL EXPERIENCES OF FOLLOWERS @Maybelle
I've been following along and will be so bold as to put in my two cents worth. I am a general/vascular surgeon. I got into Android because I was pissed off about a tablet I had that Toshiba wouldn't update. That lead me to y'all in time. I cannot say enough about how much respect I have for the Android and XDA development community. You truely "stick it to the man" while making the platform better.
I have been following the events related to Exit_Only and can say that while I have a hard time understanding the details of what is evolving I do understand that he, as well as all of you on the TK team, have helped me and my ability to communicate with my patients and my colleagues using a phone that does a lot more than its manufacturers or carrier would have it do.
We have "kanging" in medicine too. As a matter of fact it is written into the Hippocratic Oath IMO. What we do not tolerate in medicine is claiming credit for another doctor's work, although we are free to use it to benefit our patients as long as we do not claim glory for ourselves.
Kudos to EO for defending his hard work and kudos to all the rest of y'all for rising to his defense. I would be proud to support a TK website if that is the direction you wish to go in. I only wish I was more knowledgeable and could contribute in a more technical way. With your help I will get there.
I'm sorry if I am off topic but I had to speak.
*Users with Ktweaker settings reseting: Freezing system tuner and or rom toolbox is a possible fix for either min/max mhz, scheduler or governor resetting in Ktweaker. Another way could be making a backup of your settings, clear data on ktweaker, reboot and restore settings twice as not all apply right first time and reboot again with restore settings immediately at boot.
*Ktweaker Issues if on Kt747 Kernel: could have issues on roms like Freegs3 and it is noted that if you prefer to use Ktweaker to set your settings vs script than make sure no conflicting script is running for example check /system/etc/initd/ for 70tweaks and remove or place somewhere for safe keeping to prevent conflicts with Ktweaker for example min max changing or voltage tables, governor or scheduler. This script in the example is Freezas script to set phone based on screen on and off and current battery level for example of some of its functions, there is nothing wrong with using scripts nor is there a problem with this script in particular. Just be aware there will be conflicts if used in conjunction with Ktweaker and or setcpu and the like.

Jcdominguez chart
[Light usage] SIO> ZEN> NOOP> Deadline > BFQ > CFQ [medium/heavy usage]
************
Battery Saving:
-Noop: best battery savings for all mobile but not the best data rates. Considered a simple i/o
-SIO: similar to noop but uses a little more battery with benefit of some deadlines.
-Zen: Combo of noop, sio and deadline.
Balanced:
-BFQ: a good balance of battery and performance.
*tuning for solid state storage
# Freecharlesmanson tunables original
# MW86 tunables (use if above tuning resets ever time)
Performance with battery secondary:
-Row: fastest latencies on reads over all governors but may have the highest battery drain. Read Over Write.

General Tips for faster UI
-enable Hwoverlay and force gpu rendering (leave out Hwoverlay on touchwiz to prevent a noted video playback issue)
-Disable animations and transitions on launcher (or set to as fast as possible)
-Use Launcher options to force launcher into memory like in Nova Launcher (Thanks Pberge)
Create localprop and force app in memory thanks nonato
- Go to terminal type su hit enter
-Type all of the following and hit enter to add an app to local.prop and force it in memory. Nova Launcher would be as follows. If local.prop doesn't exist the command will create it.
echo sys.keep_app_1=com.teslacoilsw.launcher-1 >> /data/local.prop
-(Thanks nonato for posting this trick in Seeder thread.)
Fix Gtalk fully disable if it was removed and causing a wakelock (needs credit need to find poster of this)
Cyanogenmod Based tweaks
-enable memory management options
-disable dithering (dithering on smooths color transitions off can show a banding effect) (if not on a CM based rom the use dithering 0 build prop has same effect)
-16bit transparency (close to half the bandwidth needed for 24/32bit color)

Stop MPDECISION on a 4.2.1 Rom
- Navigate like in this pic to system/etc
- Open initpostboot.sh
- Go to line 223 (i use droidedit free at play store to edit the file it makes it easy to find line numbers)
- Place cursor in front of mpdecision and insert a #. Save the file and exit and reboot. Thats all thats necessary to prevent stopping mpdecision from starting or showing errors over and over in logcat on Android AOSP 4.2.1.

- Directions same as other build props we have listed. Until we have an easy install script this is for advanced users only who already have experience editing build.prop. I will always suggest using rom toolbox to do so vs manually editing your build prop file. Do not add all of them in without checking if the value exists already. You don't want double lines that one says the line and true and the other false, its hard to say but one may override the other. THIS IS NOT A BUILD PROP IT IS A SIMPLE TEXT FILE WITH ALL THE ONES I USE. THE BUILD PROP ENTRY IS TO THE LEFT OF THE EQUAL SIGN AND THE VALUE USED IS TO THE RIGHT OF THE EQUAL SIGN. YOU MUST SEARCH AND REPLACE OR ADD THEM MANUALLY.

Systctrl settings via Init.d (requires kernel with init.d support or enable initd with RyuInfernos apk link at bottom) (tested on same roms as Build Prop)
- * Thanks Zeppelinrox for talking some settings over with me.
- Help entropy pool
- read_wakeup_threshold to 1366
- write_wakeup_threshold to 128
http://db.tt/NilQsqG6
- Init.d for systctrl with the above set already and other optimized values
- Here guys this one is without anything special for entropy the values related to it are set to default on this one
- read_wakeup_threshold 64
- write_wakeup_threshold 128
- randomize_va_space 2
http://db.tt/rHcNuTfR
- Instructions:
Download. Using a file explorer, i like es file explorer go up from internal storage with a root explorer till you are at / you should see system, sys and much more. Go to /system/etc/initd/ and paste this file in there. Select it and go to properties of the file and select permissions. Change them to rwxrwxrwx. In other words enable read, write and execute for the three options user, system and other or whichever they are called. Now exit and reboot. Now at boot systctrl are applied. These are the presets system tuner sets plus a few tweaks by Freecharlesmanson (if you see him please be sure to give him thanks) and a fix for entropy where noted above.
- What is changed in the two systctrl (initd commands are as follows in the above files except the settings mentioned) (you can pick and choose and make your own initd script):
#!/system/bin/sh

Great job galaxys3man30, well written, easy to understand.
WIFI TETHER APP
I'M understanding that people are having problems getting it to work i will explain what you have to do there a few steps that you have to do to get it to work
STEP 1: Always make sure you use the wifi tether that is baked into your settings the one in your toggles want work
STEP 2: Open it up and for the those of ya'll that's using it for the first time it will take about 45 seconds before you can use it because its has to get all the permissions from SU so once that is done tap on the wifi sign and start broadcasting the tether
STEP 3: Now you need to hit your menu button on your phone and you will see access control tap on it and enable this will let whatever you wanting to connect to the wifi tether see that it is there
STEP 4: Now go to your laptop, gaming system and etc etc and click on android wifi tether that is your phone
STEP 5: Now go to back to your phone and open up the access control and you should see mac address and ssid there with box's to be check them these are the device trying to connect to your tether now that you have check the box's hit apply at the bottom of the screen and that gives your device access to the internet
Hope this helps everyone that is having a problem with it
I'M always open for suggestions please let me know what ya'll want to have a how to on and i will get one up on it
Thank you to everyone involved to figure out and provide this for us.
Thanks for the great write up. Very easy to follow.
3 questions.
1: What is TPR?
2: What exactly are the process you had us stop used for? Just curious.
3: Do I want to run a particular I/O scheduler? I am using your suggested current Ktoonz governor tweaks.
Thank you again,
Whiteice
Thanks for this! Went ahead and stopped the mpdecision with the mw86 tweaks, Koonservative gov and bfq scheduler. Time to full charge and give it a run

TPR is another rom called The Peoples Rom
The 2 files that are renamed r stop because they cause bad battery drain with ktoonsnative gov and the mpdecision is stop because it keeps core 2 going even with the tweaks I have posted so you stop it to keep core 2 running on the tweaks saves battery more less
We have found that bfq is about the best one to use but you can use whatever one you want to you use bud

Great work
Thanks galaxys3man30 for starting this thread, and thanks mw86 for giving me the link. I can attest to the fact that the setting work and stick. Ive been following the several threads prior to this one. Ive use the tunings while tinkering with them, til I based my own off them.

INSTALLATION
Install zip from recovery.
You must have an existing working kernel for the ROM you are using, and you must reflash this kernel whenever you change to a different ROM. The reason is that the universal installer injects the ElementalX kernel into whatever boot.img that is currently installed.

NOTES:
Compatibility
Works on all Xoom models: wingray, stingray and everest. As of version 1.0, it should work on any ROM. I have tested it on EOS4, My Android, CM10.1, CM10, Baked BB8 and Orca. It should work on others, including Android 4.3
Versions
The vanilla version does not overclock the graphics. I recommend using the regular version unless you are specifically having issues due to the overclocked graphics.
Configuration
The config file is located at /etc/elementalx.conf. You can edit this file to change kernel settings. Whatever is set in this file will take effect when the device is booted. A log file is stored at /data/local/tmp/elementalx.log
Sweep2Wake
I totally revamped sweep2wake. To put the screen to sleep, you now have to swipe along the edges. You can swipe anywhere to turn the screen on. There is a new option for sweep2sleep only.
0=disabled
1=sweep2wake/sweep2sleep (default)
2=sweep2sleep only
/sys/android_touch/sweep2wake
There is also an option called shortsweep (enabled by default) so you don't have to sweep all the way across the screen. You can turn the shortsweep option off.
0=disabled
1=enabled (default)
/sys/android_touch/shortsweep
Doubletap2wake
Doubletap2wake is another new feature. You can turn the screen on by double tapping anywhere on the screen.
0=disabled
1=enabled (default)
/sys/android_touch/doubletap2wake
If you are one of those with sleep of death from sweep2wake, you might want to try sweep2sleep only and doubletap2wake disabled. Then you can still sweep your screen to sleep, but the touch driver acts completely as stock during suspend.
All these options can be changed in /etc/elementalx.conf so they are automatically set at boot.
zRam
zRam creates a compressed block device in RAM that is used as swap. Although it claims some of your RAM as swap, everything written to swap is compressed. This increases the apparent memory available to the system and helps with multitasking. Swap files on disk are very slow, but with zRam the swap is on RAM so it can be read as quickly as regular memory. Even though the data need to be decompressed, modern CPUs can decompress quicker than if it had to be to read from disk. The penalty is cpu usage, which could drain battery; however, this is likely negligable in daily use. I didn't enable this by default because not everyone will want it. This is for heavy multitaskers and will allow you to quickly switch between more apps and have more tabs open in your browser without refreshes.
zRam is disabled by default. If you want to enable it, edit /etc/elementalx.conf
change ZRAM=0 to ZRAM=1 and reboot.
You can check if zRam is working by typing the command "free" into the terminal. You should see the total used and free swap. If these are all 0, then zRam is not enabled.
Governors
Intellidemand is the recommended governor, but there are several to choose from. If your ROM has performance settings, check that your desired governor selected.
Max Screen Off Frequency
You can toggle max screen off and change the max screen off frequency by editing /etc/elementalx.conf.
If you want to edit the settings directly, the sysfs entries are at /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/screen_off_max_enabled and /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/screen_off_max_freq
Editing those files doesn't persist after a reboot, if you want the setting to persist, edit /etc/elementalx.conf
If you have instability or reboots while the screen is off, disable max screen off frequency.
exFAT support
There is also optional support for the exFAT filesystem. A module has to be loaded for it to work, it is not loaded by default. The option to load it at boot is in /etc/elementalx.conf

.
I hate the power button on the Xoom, so I decided to implement Sweep2wake. I just started working on this last night, so I haven't done any changes other than sweep2wake. Once sweep2wake is working well, I will add a bunch of other features.
I'll update the OP properly later this week.
Awesome stuff, gonna try it tonight. Should this work on CM10.1? what about Stingray?
There are many governors available for other devices, any chance you can include them in this one?
Thanks for the effort, we've been starving for new kernels for a long time now...

I will be adding more features and an installer sometime this week.
I think CM10 needs a different kernel, but I'm not sure. If you try it, let me know if it works. I've only tested on My Android and EOS4.
If someone could let me know what needs to be added for Stingray, I could give it a shot but I wouldn't be able to test it since I have the wifi only xoom. Is the modem the only difference between Stingray and Wingray?
I don't have a clue, but will try tonight

OK, tried it just now and it won't boot, stuck at the boot animation of CM10.1 nightly 02112013 (Stingray).
Any logs I can pull? Followed the steps in the OP.
EDIT: Flashed boot.img from the cm-10.1-20130211-NIGHTLY-stingray.zip, booted fine.
EDIT2: I wonder if i need to flash radios after the kernel?

I don't think your mobile will work, this is based on dreamcwli's kernel, which currently only has full support for wingray and everest. This will work on stringray except the mobile data connection.
It appears this does not work with CM10 (I'm not surprised)
Installed it on the other Stingray tablet running My Android (don't have data activated on it) and it works fine.
What do you use to control the kernel? freqs, voltages, gpu, etc...?

I'm going to be testing out a bunch of different governors and schedulers. Some will probably have to be backported, since this is still a 2.6 kernel and everything else I've worked on lately is well into 3.x.
Seeing as there are only a few people tyring this, I'll probably just toss everything out there as I build it.

If you're talking about a delay in the animation when you exit the app drawer, then yes, it still lags. I've noticed it happens only on screens with icons and widgets. No problem on blank screen (ie, just wallpaper, no icons or widgets).
Could you create test builds for Stingray? Currently running Baked v7 on it.

I think this should work, minus the mobile connection.
I would like this to work on all models, but I just started poking around with xoom kernels on Sunday, so I'm not up to speed on all the hardware variations and requirements yet.

Excellent work for only a few days. The sweep2wake feature is great because it also works from the lockscreen, unlike other solutions.

How to's *READ BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING EVEN IF UR DOWNLOADING STABLE*:
- These builds are currently at the super experimental stage. Whichever below are risky for being your daily driver, but I myself test it before release, so rest assured it will boot.
- By downloading the zip, just wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash the zip.
- Your first bootup may take up to 9 minutes, So yeah. Take note It's not a brick.
- Lastly, Always check up the issues log and make sure you accept that issue before flashing. I assure you that every single bug will be listed there.

GOLDEN MASTER RELEASE NOTES
- Any release that falls under the Golden Master release is a pre-milestone release. With the G.M Builds, you'll get to enjoy 95% stability system-wide. This means that builds falling under G.M are considered daily drivers. But there's a saying, "Nothing is perfect". So yeah. Expect a few issues here and there. Even if there are, it wouldn't be bad. All the major bugs will be completely killed before the Beta phase ends.
- Boot up speeds won't take as long as Alpha and Beta releases, expect booting to be much shorter

There should be virtually no issues here. Even minor ones most probably are ROM-related. Unlike the builds above, you won't get to enjoy super experimental features like higher frequency clock rates. - Wait, is this another mainline kernel?
*No. It is not. ASKP has commits that would come from almost every part of the world. This gives it the feeling of unity, like a unified kernel. Apart from that, Patches from Various manufacturers of the many parts of the phone will be brought upfront into this kernel.

Joining the ASKP Team.
- Yep, you see this. I just feel that being a soloist isn't helping this kernel. I want to bring an up to date kernel to my users as soon as I can, and in fact, I prefer giving them nightly builds. But it is the fact that I can't work on it daily, so I need more help, that's why I am forming a team, a team to help in this kernel. So here are the few people I need
+ Kernel Developer (You know it
+ App Developer (Something like A trickster mod?) xD
+ Official Tester - We've got two already So Yeah, no need anymore
PM me please or email me @ [email protected]
Need something a little different. Thanks.
So far I'm loving your kernel. Great battery life and performance. Keep up the great work.

Now,
Build 5.
It is a complete rebuild of Build 4, reverting a few unstable commits and bringing in some hotplugging fixes.
Build 5a,
Has the new generic hotplug helper from 3.10 RC 7, fixing issues that involve natively shutting core down. This should improve the hotplugging of our phone by about 50%. and also, it includes new governor tweaks and fixes and also OMAP based fixes

Yes, it is

Well, I went ahead and flashed this kernel. I hardly ever comment until things run a few cycles. However, over the past few months, I've flashed so many different kernels trying to get stability, good performance and battery life. Nothing has worked exceptionally well as problems always set in after either a couple cycles or days. As such, I'm desperate.
So far, this is the smoothest and fastest kernel I've installed since the AK Cylon days. Hopefully, it holds up and I will have found a new beast for my GNex.
Let me know if you still need any testers. I'll do my best to help within my realm of usage (power user) and knowledge (advanced user but not developer or programmer).
Thanks!

Now,

So does this mean the device will no longer sometimes freeze when it hotplugs? Or is this not included in the 50%?
just flashed on Raped Ape, and so far is running very nicely. too soon to give any deep insight, but it seems quite quick and responsive for a pre-milestone build!
Many thanks for the work - keep it up!!!
