Bell issue? - Nokia Lumia 900

I have a Rogers Lumia 900 unlocked and am using it on Bell. I have the latest updates and haven't had the data connectivity issue since the first update several months ago was sent out. Last night I lost data connectivity over the cell network and still haven't gotten it back. Wifi works fine though. Is anybody having this issue on a Lumia 900 on Bell?

Hey
Hey Brother if you are having data issues and even issues with calls going to VM sometimes outta nowhere go get your sim changed, i had the issue and i realized i was using bells 4G micro sim and i actually needed the new 4G LTE micro sim once i got all that setup the phone part of my lumia runs fantastic no data issues what so ever

Thanks for the reply. I should already have the LTE sim. I made sure I asked for that when I got my Lumia. I haven't noticed any issues with calls going to VM without ringing... just lost my data last night.

Well I seem to have fixed it. I added the proxy address of web.wireless.bell.ca port 80 to the APN settings and my data is back. That seems really strange to me that I'd have to do that since it's been working without the proxy ever since I bought my Lumia. When I got it, I tried it with and without the proxy as well as both APN's for bell... pda.bell.ca and inet.bell.ca and they all worked. O well it's working again so that's all that really matters.

Glad to hear it's working now..
Wondering if you can confirm a couple things..
Internet sharing, is it locked for you? As well is MMS or group texting working for you?

Internet sharing is locked for me... I tried a Rogers sim in my phone and it worked perfect but locked with the Bell sim. MMS it not working as the network setup app from Nokia is available. I haven't tried group texting so I can't comment on that.

Sucks.. So Im in the same boat as with my Titan 2.. no internet sharing, MMS and group text.
So the Nokia network setup app is still unavailable at this time?

I'm pretty sure there's no speculation as to whether or not it will fix it. That is the only thing holding back MMS from working as it allows us to change the MMS servers. Once that app is available again, we will have working MMS as long as you put in the correct MMS server.

[Q] MMS issue

I just got the Lumia 900, and everything is working fine except I cannot send/receive MMS. I am currently on the newest update, but my APN settings were not built into the phone like they should have been. I manually inputed them and the data is working fine now, but pictures still will not send. Am I the only one with this problem? If not, has anyone figured out a fix? I called both Nokia and At&t. At&t told me the issue was that I didn't have a data plan, which I do, and Nokia told me to have At&t send an APN update push to my phone. At&t said they couldn't do that. Anyway, let me know if you all know of anything that could help.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: After spending 2 hours on the phone with AT&T and Nokia, I finally got tired and called an AT&T rep that I know. She took a look at my account and realized that I had data on my account, but it was never set up with the 4G data which is why I could access the internet via HSPA or HSPA+ but couldn't get MMS. The phone was just confused. She made the change for me and it's working fine now. If you're on AT&T, just call 611 and make sure you're on an LTE plan, not just a 4G plan and see if that fixes your problem.

Something seems wonky here.
You have a Lumia 900 on AT&T with a qualifying DATA plan, and you can't get MMS.
A couple of thoughts:
What aren't you saying? Hacked? Rooted, Unlocked??? Bought it off of eBay?
Have you tried a Hard Reset with the sim in? During setup, the first indication of a setup problem is, Time Zone, Region, Time are not setup automatically. Does this happen?
Do you have an official mini sim, or is this a cut down one? Cut down ones...might not work.
Take it back to the place you bought it....do a hard reset in front of them. Does it work? By work I mean does it detect time zone, time, your number. NO, its not usual for them not to...don't believe that if they tell you that. If there is NO detection....something is wrong..either with the Sim or the account.
Have them check your account...right there...is it setup? You should NOT have to input an apn on this phone, if all of the above is correct.
I have had 2 lumia's and a Samsung Focus S since March 2nd. Each one had to have the account reset. For some reason something went wonky on the phone during setup. Dropped vm, one time it was data plan not initializing. A Quick check caught them...

I am in the same boat. Bone stock 900.
Looks like an issue with 4G. When I change my data connection to 3G MMS works as expected, change it back to 4G, no workie...
I was going to mess around with APN to see if I can get one set up that works. There is a Nokia Network Setting app that can help with this but it's not on the Market Place anymore. I've been doing some searching and this appears to occur on many different carriers with 4G. I'm in the US on ATnT, but it is happening overseas too.
---------- Post added at 02:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:10 AM ----------
Might have figured mine out, I added an APN
apn: wap.cingular
user: [email protected] (all caps)
pass: CINGULAR1 (all caps)
proxy: 66.209.11.32
port: 8080
There is not slot for MMS so I skipped that, it would be:
mmsc: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Go to settings
Cellular
Edit APN
Input the above
Save (check mark)
I then toggled in airplane mode for 30 secs and then out of it. Sent my self a MMS and it worked, sent one from my wife's phone and it worked. Both of those scenarios were failing on 4G before. PITA
That app is off the marketplace

Yes it work but..... It seemed to have reduced my data download speeds. So I deleted the APN and that got my LTE speed back.
Will toggle to 3g when an MMS fails for me. Will also start to bug ATnT about this too.

I'm more convinced than ever tht LTE may not be our friend. Nokia may be finished with the beta test, but AT&T isn't...or any other carrier that is

Can't receive MMS from T-Mobile users.

When I get MMS from T-Mo users it shows up, but when I go to look at it the message is blank. Has happened from many T-Mo users but no other carrier.
Anyone have ideas?
I tried different roms, messaging apps, broadbands and apn settings, no work.
If you have ideas keep them coming even if I don't test....will test tomorrow....don't want to keep bothering ppl all night.

Who's your carrier, AT&T? My friend is experiencing the same issue. At least, I think it's the same. I'm on T-Mo and he never gets my MMS.
I tried putting the different APNs in his phone as well. I'm honestly not sure, either.
Wife and I are on tmo and I can't get any of the dumb ass mms that she sends me.
I take it as a blessing really.

The T-Mo users I know can send them but it just comes in as a blank 1KB MMS.....
No one has any idea here.....or can we at least get people to confirm they CAN get MMS from T-Mo users...
Mine does this sometimes. Im on sprint
Im pretty sure this is a gnex issue between tmobile and ATT, Switching my sim into a tmobile branded phone and it will send. Seems that all other providers receive my MMS though. I can receive an MMS from a Gnex on ATT to my Gnex on Tmobile. Im thinking its something to do with the user string of the Gnex and tmobile not knowing what it is.
I can send MMS to any one except people on AT&T. My best friend has an Xperia Play 4G on AT&T and my pictures just shows up as a white box. I'm using T-Mobile
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I started having an mms issue on T-Mo recently. Fixed it by resetting the apn settings (the only thing that seemed to change was the ipv6 changed back to ipv4 - i believe you are supposed to have separate apns for data and mms)
Pull up the apn list, hit menu, then reset to default...
No one has any ideas about this ? I'm pretty pissed off now because I called AT&T and they basically said since it non-AT&T your screwed.......
and can we please get an AT&T user to confirm receiving MMS from T-Mo using this phone?
Not using a G.Nexus, using an HTC Sensation with a CM9 variant. Just noticed that I'm only having trouble receiving MMS from TMO friends. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone has a fix
I should probably clarify that I do receive the message if there's text in it, my phone recognizes it as an MMS but there is no picture and the size is 1kb.
It's definitely the IPv6. I switch it on and MMSs won't come or go. I switch back to IPv4 (and reboot..grrrr) and MMSs send/receive fine. I have checked and cannot find anything in the APN settings that's supposed to fix it.
You have to set up two APNs on the T-Mo phone:
Ipv6 for data
Ipv4 for MMS
I'm in the same situation. I'm using GNex on AT&T. My friend has GNex on T-Mobile. I can receive text but no picture messages from him or anyone that has T-Mobile. Let's keep this thread going to find a solution.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I've given you the solution.
The guy with the T-Mo phone needs to tweak his settings...
even tried to change the apn. I have a Skyrocket on AT&T my brothers and girlfriend have T-mobile and they send me MMS but nothing comes through.
I know other people that have AT&T and they have I-phone and get all MMS messages from T-mobile.

Rogers Lumia 900 on Fido - Did your MMS start working?

No figured it out, did the Update Trick to get Tango, it must have installed the OS in an "unbranded" configuration. I had some Network issues, called Fido and had them do a "Resend to Switch" that's when MMS and Internet Sharing started working. Had someone confirm by doing the same thing with their Rogers Lumia 900.
Did you specifically ask for that by name? What problem did you report? Would love to get mine working. I find mine is slow on data connection sometimes especially compared to focus.

Are you on Fido? Different carriers have a different name for it, I believe all they are doing is reprovisioning the sim. If you are on Fido and did the Tango update trick, you'll get the added benifit of MMS/Internet Sharing working. On a side note, when I first got my Lumia 900, I had put my Fido Sim in the phone and my data was very slow, especially compared to my old Focus. I had them do a "resed to switch" and it fixed my data speeds.
Power off your phone and call them from a lan line. Tell them you're having data problems and the last time you experienced this the customer service rep did a "resend to switch" and ask if they can do it again. if the customer service rep doesn't know what you are talking about hang up and call again. If the customer service rep knows what you are talking about they will tell you to power off your phone (which it already is). After they do the "resend to switch" wait a few minutes and then power your phone on.

is it because Fido is the same network as Rogers ? or does it really have anything to do with the tango update ?
I have a Rogers Lumia working on Bell, even after the tango update, the internet sharing still cannot work. still no way to change APN to get MMS to work also.

Since Fido doesn't carry any WP7 devices at the moment and pre-Tango required APN with MMS/Internet Sharing not working, I could be wrong but, I'm going to guess that it's the Tango update through the update trick. I could be wrong but since you're on Telus, you could try the same thing.
Couple of things to note though, Nokia claims that LTE gets configured from the firmware (pre-OS boot) so don't know if it would work for you or not if you're using an LTE sim. Also, they finally confirmed that the Network Setup app is coming back to the North American marketplaces within a couple of weeks and the new version being released is supposed to work with the Lumia 900.
So you can either try doing the same through Telus or wait for the new version of the Network Setup app to be released.

MMS?

I have an unlocked Nokia Lumia 900 from Rogers. As I'm sure most people here know, getting MMS to function on an unlocked [Nokia] Windows Phone can be a hassle. I've tried hard resetting my phone, changing the APN, etc, and so far I've had no luck whatsoever. Can someone guide me through a process that will enable MMS to work? It's fairly important considering the number of messages I send/receive every day...
Download Network Setup from the Nokia collection. That will configure MMS.
It's not available in Canada, for whatever reason.

Hi,
I had the same issue with Fido until another user on here helped me out. I called Fido and had them reset my data package. I believe the user called it re-provisioning. I have attached the link to the original thread. I just said I was having data issues which was not untrue because my data connection was extremely slow and that I had talked to someone who suggested reseting (re-provisioning) the data plan. After the re-provisioning the MMS started working and my Visual Voice mail (visiual voicemail through mms, not the windows phone as its not supported on Rogers from what I understand). In addition my data connection finally seemed to work correctly.
here is the link:

Hope that helps.

Yes, I have. I tried both this one and the TelCel rom. Both of them allowed me to finally use internet sharing and MMS. I'm pretty sure LTE works on both roms too it is just shown as 4G instead of LTE and when you are on HSPA it shows H instead of 4G like with the stock Rogers rom (and probably AT&T too). When tethered and showing 4G as the connection on my phone, I have gotten 1.5 MB/s down and about 800 KB/s up so I'm pretty sure that's an LTE connection. When I went to the cellular settings and changed it to only use 3G data, I get about 150 KB/s down and 80 KB/s up.

[Q] Unable to send IM from unlocked T999

I have T-mobile Galaxy S3 T999. I unlocked it and now using it outside US with different carrier. It runs the pre-loaded Jellybeans OS.
It works perfect on wifi. However whenever I am connected to 2G, none of the instant messaging works! Internet browsing works on 2G however whatsapp, Google Talk, FB Messenger won't work! I used to use same SIM card (with same provider) on iPhone 3GS, and everything used to work fine.
What could be the problem?

I doubt it because web browsing works fine. E.g. FB app works but FB messenger doesn't. Gmail does but gtalk doesn't.

The problem is either that you need to setup the proper APN in the phone or if
that don't work you need to get your phone unlocked if it's not already unlocked.

Thanks for the reply but the problem is solved. It wasn't related to APN. I was able to browse internet but only messengers weren't working (like Gtalk, Whatsapp and so on). with the custom ROM, everything is working fine on 2G connection.
