[Q] abt OTA firmware updates with custom ROMs - HTC One X

Hi all,
I just got an One X, my first android (loving it a lot). I've rooted and flashed custom ROM leedroid one xtreme 6.4.0.
I've a question, how do i update my phone firmware from HTC? Or i've unroot and bring it back to stock to have it update?

the OTA updates are for a stock ROM, not custom ones. If you want to get OTA updates in the future, then return to stock rom and stock recovery, you don't have to unroot or relock your bootloader.
Anyway you're using a ROM with the same firmware as the official 1.29.401.11, because 2.05.401.2 is not released officialy yet, so basicaly you'll gain nothing.

no, once htc release an official rom, you can just flash the ruu as usuall i wouldnt advise it tho or you may have trouble rooting, wait for a dev to remove the new hboot and root it before you flash

[Q] Root & Software update to Gingerbread

I rooted my DHD and I have LeeDroid ROM on it, my question is now HTC announced that DHD will get Ginger Bread update, does my phone after rooting will accept the update or not?
You will not get the OTA update when you are running a custom ROM. If you want to get official OTA updates you will need to un root and replace your custom ROM with the official one.

OTA?

if iupdate with the OTA
will all, my custom ROM features be gone?
AFAIK you should never update with OTA if you are using a custom rom.
hmm.. iwas just wondering
If you are rooted, and accept an OTA, you will lose root. So no, don't do it.
The OTA will remove root, your custom ROM, etc. etc. etc. and put you at stock 2.3.3, and in order to root that you will have to downgrade back.
Simply put, if you're rooted, flash a pre-rooted OTA ROM, or keep your custom ROM or one of the many based on the new 2.3.4 OTA's. Get all the features and won't lose root.

If you want to update to a ROM based on the OTA, but keep root, you can flash one of the many Pre-rooted OTA builds in the dev section. Or you can always flash a different custom ROM thats based on 2.3.4 also.

Reverting to stock for lollipop?

Do we have to revert to stock Rom to upgrade to lollipop? Was wondering if it's the same with the htc eye update wherein you have to go back to stock and update manually before flashing the custom rom. I am having an extremely difficult time going back to stock for some weird reason.
For every major update on this device so far (AFAIK) HTC has updated the firmware. So yes, my guess will be that you will need to update firmware to run Sense Lollipop custom ROMs And unless you s-off and therefore able to update the firmware manually; your alternative will be to return to stock ROM and recovery and OTA to Lollipop.
Ohhh, Been trying to revert to stock but it just doesnt work. thanks
If I'm just rooted and not s off stock Rom and all that anything I need to do to get the lollipop update or just wait for it to hit my ota on my phone?

Just wait for it. If you're stock then you shouldn't have a problem. The only real headache will be how long you have to wait to get the OTA.
Stock: Stock ROM, Stock Recovery, No changes to system i.e no xposed framework. No deleted pre-installed apps(Facebook etc) no changes to files like platform.xml, build.prop etc.
Being rooted on the other hand shouldn't cause any problems.

HTC One M8 Stock rooted ROM

Hello, i just get update request on my rooted HTC One M8 (global). I was unable to install 6.0 android with TWMP.
Does any one know stock rooted android 6.0 rom, that i can install with TWMP ?
Many thanks
OTA will not install by TWRP. And a flashable MM ROm is probably not what you want; at least not if you want the proper MM firmware and future OTA updates.
You need the stock (never rooted) Lollipop ROM, and corresponding stock recovery, in order to properly update to MM.
