Verizon GS3 - Sixaxis - Galaxy S III Accessories

Anyone with a Verizon GS3 try using a PS3 controller yet? I want to buy one but I'm not getting my GS3 until tonight so I can't try the Sixaxis Compatibility Test app yet.

I downloaded the compatibility checker and it says my VZW GS3 should be fine, but I haven't actually done the field testing yet.

I appreciate the app test. Hopefully someone who has tested it will chime in. Don't want to drop 40 bucks to find out it doesn't work

Was just playing critical strike using sixaxis with it last night with my gs3. Though i got tmobile, but it should work just fine for other carriers

I'm sure it'll work because all the others work, I'm just nervous

Does the six axis require root?

Yeah it does, at least for the Sixaxis Controller app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...5ncGl4ZWxzdHVkaW9zLnNpeGF4aXNjb250cm9sbGVyIl0.

Make sure you buy a genuine controller. Chinese copies won't work.

I was able to use sixaxis just fine with my official Sony PS3 controller on my rooted Verizon Galaxy S3

Im running it and it works fine, currently playing Nova 3 with it.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Ordered one today. I'm also looking at the GameKlip in this section, which looks so badass. Only issue with it is it might not fit with my TPU case. Hopefully he can get a model to fit it with most gel cases.

Well, as convenient as wireless connection would be, I was able to connect my PS3 sixaxis to my TMo GS3 using my OTG USB adapter. Now I just need to look into getting a gameklip type holder.

Using USB OTG adapter to hookup PS3 controller on my Verizon S3 stock NO ROOT. Works well, was playing Dead Trigger with it. Root is only required if you want to use bluetooth to connect it.

The maker said if you give him the exact size of your phone with the case he could make a custom one for you. And he said if he said if it didn't fit you could get a refund I think.

I can confirm the xbox 360 controller is supported. The wireless one too, if you have the pc receiver.

Root is required if you want to map controls for games that don't support a controller. The majority unfortunately... This is done through the sixaxis app of course.

Yep, I just tried my wired one with a micro-usb-to-usb adapter (I didn't think it was even an OTG one, but maybe). Dead Trigger was WAY more satisfying!

The wireless xbox controllers "for windows" come with them. You should also be able to find them on ebay, etc.

I guess I’m confused. I downloaded N64oid and have a couple roms (Mario kart64/goldeneye) and they both work well using the on screen controls but when I plug in my PS3 sixaxis controller via OTG cable the controller will control things like navigating the home screens but once I’m in the game it does nothing. Pressing start takes me back to the home screen. Do I have to root in order for the PS3 controller to control my game controls?

I was having the same issue running a custom ROM (CleanROM 2.5), it was bugging the hell out of me and I didn't see anyone else having the same problem. What I did was restore back to factory (reflashed in my case), did not install ANYTHING except sixaxis and N64oid and it stopped for some reason. Then I rooted, with stock ROM, still worked great. No idea why restoring worked if anyone else has a work around please let me know.

Bluetooth Gamepad

Any good suggestions for a bluetooth gamepad for the Xoom?
I could use the wii remote's but was wondering if there's any better alternatives that anyone can suggest...
Thanks!
Also wondering the same. I think there's a good demand for a nice bluetooth controller. Something similar to the Xbox 360 controller would be nice.
I don't have a ps3 or xbox but i'd happily buy a controller if it worked!
Wii controller, while great - would be slightly annoying as if you use the classic controller the actual wii remote is attached and dangling loose...
Ps3 is bluetooth so could theoretically work, if an app provides support. I picked up a Datel wireless wii Retro classic controller or
whatever on ebay for $20, which should work with one of the wiimote apps. Its basically the wii classic controller without the need to tether it to a regular wiimote for wireless.

PS3 Controllers wont work based on the way they pair with the PS3. Tried this and have tried to find apps that would make this work.
Wii!
A Wii controller of course! I got mine up and running fantasticly a couple days ago when N64oid was released. Its very simple and uses bluetooth (obviously). You will need the assistance of the app "Wiimote Controller" that can be found in the Android Market free of cost though to actually pair, but from there on out, your good! And hopefully you didnt even need to go spend any money Hope this helps. Take Care

For those keen on a Classic Controller, but not wanting to have the hassle of connecting to the WiiMote, take a look at the Datel Retro Wireless controller...
Does anyone know what games work with the wii remote / retro controller? I know the emulators work, but I don't think games like Samurai Vengence, Vendetta Online, Airattack HD, or Angry Birds works. Anyone know if there is a way to get them to respond to the controller input?

EDIT: Not sure what happened there, mine should read codejunkies also, not turbojunkies (awesome brain explosion though).

[Q] Full HDMI, now Dualshock 3?

So now that we have got full HDMI out, are there any devs looking into getting the PS3 controller working with our beloved EVO? I'm aware of the ability to use the Wiimote. I've also heard they have gotten the sixaxis controller working on maemo, another linux based mobile system, and supposedly there are drivers for using ps3 controllers on windows 7? Let's get some reverse engineering going on this bad *****, I know I would love to see this!
On a side note, thank you to everyone in the community, lurkers and active members alike, especially the devs who work day and night so that we can play with our toys to their full potential!
From what I remember reading in here somewhere it has to do with the Bluetooth stack(s) used on android, where the protocol* wiimote uses is compatible and the ps3 one isnt.
*correct me if I'm wrong people

Yes this would be excellent! But how long will it be before the market devs start converting their games to be compatible with such epicness lol!?

Totally possible to get the PS3 controller working.
Would require a custom bluetooth stack, custom kernel with usb-host mode to do the initial pairing, then finally pairing it with the custom bluetooth stack.
See link for more info: http://www.pabr.org/sixlinux/sixlinux.en.html
This would really be amazing. The wiimote ain't that great for playing many emulators unless you connect a classic controller to it.

Would that one be possible to use with the phone (with the already existing wiimote-app, because I doubt anyone will make a new one for that)? If so, I might consider buying it.

[HELP NEEDED] N64 to USB for Emulator FUN! [ACCESSORY REVIEW]

I ran into this while browsing Amazon. I've always loved the N64 controller layout and I found this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002B9FIUU
It's a N64 to USB adapter that I hope we can get to work with Emulators. I've tested the N64 controller in the N64oid app and I can't get it to work. I mapped the keys within the app and it does recognize the key presses when mapping. When the game starts the START button doesn't seem to to work.
The controller however does work when I'm on the home screen. I can move back and forth between screens and with the Analog stick.
I'm wondering if I can somehow pull the WiiMote controller app and recode it to work with the N64oid. I'm looking for suggestions on what we can do to get this to work. No documentation came with this accessory and there is a switch on it which I'm assuming switches from N64 to PS2 controller. I've only tested this in N64oid but I will try in the other emulators and see if it works. I contacted the dev of WiiMoteController to see if he'd be willing to make an app for N64.
Here are some shots of the accessory in question:
Thats cool i always wanted the snes adapter but n64 blows it away

Most definitely. I just want some input before I pull the trigger. I would be playing N64oid the most if not primarily and I need my Super Smash Brothers fix.

It's a N64 to USB adapter. I ordered 2 OTG cables and I believe that it'll work but I hope someone can confirm. I have a ton of these lying around my house and I'm dying to use it. I'm pretty sure I have an old OTG at home so I'm going to turn my house upside down today to look for it.
It's priced reasonably. Feel free to chime in. I hope this is a great find.

I would think any controller should work as long as it had the proper controller layout file in android. The PS3 and Xbox controllers have specific layout files so I would think one would be needed for a N64 controller.
I have a similar adapter for Playstation 2 Controller to USB and it only emulates mouse movements (left joystick) other buttons are not recognized. Proceed with caution.
I think I will buy it and be a guinea pig. Worst case scenario I'll just sell it to my friend who games with emulators on his laptop.

http://cgi.ebay.com/PS2-N64-CONTROL...Accessories&hash=item3368e62969#ht_1351wt_648
It's shipping from the U.S according to the eBay listing so hopefully I'll get it early next week. I will test this as soon as I get it and let you guys know. This would be the ultimate controller for N64oid (obviously).
I'll fill you guys in when I get it.
I'd be interested to know if it works - had trouble mapping up all the keys on a ps3 pad

If memory serves, xbox360 doesn't use bluetooth. Wii controller will sync, and I've read that ps3 could work. The game would need to support the controller to work. Even android specific controllers, like the Moga, only work with a limited number of games.

The ps3 controller uses bluetooth. With the app six axis you can play any game with the ps3 controller. Six axis is a very robust app. Look for it in the play store. Worth every penny especially when you pair it up with an emulator and mhl adapter.
Only problem is the ps3 controller sucks Imo. Wish I could use the xbox 360 controller.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am aware that the PS3 controller will work. However I don't have a PS3 controller, I have 2 Xbox 360 wireless controllers, and a wireless adaptor, and therefore I would like to use them!
I know that it is possible to make make the nexus 7 and the samsung s3 work with a wireless xbox controller, so in theory there is no reason why the note II will not. As the Xbox controller uses a propriety wireless system (i.e not bluetooth like PS3 and Wiimote) it is necessary to be able to somehow connect the Note to the usb xbox wireless receiver dongle. I can do this through the Note smart dock.
here is a guide for getting the wireless xbox controller to work with some android systems:
(edit - sorry cant post links yet, a quick google will turn up a few hits)
But it is missing an xpad.ko for the Note II, and I don't know how to make one.
I'm not familiar with trying to use Xbox controller. Obviously you're doing to need a OTG USB cable to use the Wireless gaming receiver dongle.
What you may want to try, and make sure you do a Nandroid prior, I would trying using S3 xpad.ko from the S3. I'm not sure what it references, but since are both touchwiz, it should give better odds for working than once from other devices.
PS3 i've gotten to work but xbox would be worth looking into

I intend to use the smart dock but that should work the same as the OTG.
I believe so. I think the more important, and potentially useful bit is trying the S3 ko file.

Yep.
I have no problems connecting my PS3 controller with OTG, then connecting it via Bluetooth.
I map out the buttons "touch emulation" with an app called "sixaxxis controller" and that makes it so I can even play Gameloft games with it.
And of course I have the usual emulators, dead trigger, etc.

I buddy of mine got the Moga Pro, and it's great for the LGOG. I don't have to take my Diztronic case off of it, and it still fits into the mounting bracket. Overall, it is very comfortable. The only bummer, and it's not due to the controller, was that I couldn't map any buttons for Call of Duty: Zombies. You have to use the screen to control the game. Worked flawlessly with Dead Trigger. Moga's app is kind of lame, too.

And this is the only advantage of using the Sixaxis app because there is touch emulation. Would be sweet if there was a universal app that did the same thing with other controllers, there may be but I just haven't discovered it yet.
I've always wondered how people use their sixaxis controller to play games on their Android.
How do you play? your both hands are holding the sixaxis, what's holding your phone? Or is there a way to hold your phone on top of the sixaxis.
I would like to know because I want to use my sixaxis, but feel really weird holding the sixaxis and my phone on my lap. I want to know if there is a controller that can hold a phone similar to the MOGA controller but much less expensive.

Gotcha, that would he cool since I sold my moga but have a xbox360 still (or rather the kids have take over it but is still in the house)
Sent from my Optimus G using xda premium
I just looked online and the gameklip looks just about what I was looking for. I wanted a mount so I can attach my phone to my sixaxis.
I have not bought the item yet, but I will in the near future.

Well I was using a Gametel to play all my old favorite NES, SNES, SMS and Genesis games, but after minimal use the right side of the d-pad stopped working. Seems to be a common problem.
As much as I love the design and the way it fits in my hands the durability makes me say avoid at all costs.

they've got it working on the Nexus 7, shouldn't be too different here or any rooted android running jellybean.

Looks cool to me- I might check it out because I'd rather have it all together- meaning like a handheld console where the controls are on either side of the screen.
