O.O say what? You need to do some reading bud.
Odin is a program from Samsung that allows the loading of img files to your phone.

BTW can you get it onto download mode?

You shouldn't be flashing things if you don't even know the basics. You should do research before you get all over excited and brick.

Brick? Siyah Kernel problem
So I just flashed the latest Siyah kernel to my sprint samsung galaxy SIII. After choosing it from the internal storage on CWM my phone turned off and will not turn back on. Even when I plug it in it just stays dark! Any suggestions of the $(#* is going on? Anyone else with this problem and if so how the hell do I fix it when I cannot even get it to boot into recovery?

Try to get it into download mode and flash stock rom using odin

I wish I could the damn thing will not turn on at all. No recovery mode no nothing and it will not charge when I place it into a charger.

Nice thread jacking.

I'm sorry, but if you bricked your phone and are not familiar with Odin you really need to do some reading/research before playing with root or system files. There's plenty of information all around this site applicable to your device. And do everything manually, you'll learn much quicker.

Pull the battery from your phone and let it sit for a couple hours. Then put it back in and press volume down + home + power to get into download mode. From there you can use Odin to install the stock firmware. If after that you can't get into download mode, you have a hard brick. If you take it in make sure you pull you external SD before hand. Found out the hard way that tmo is not a fan of rooting.

You are hard bricked, unless you can get into download mode.
This company unbricked my phone and they did it quick. The usbjig will probably not work, I tried.

I don't mean to be an ass but you are "the problem". If you were willing to play with fire then you should get burned. I don't think warranty should cover your misfortunes. Why should X company pay for your gambling? You know I'm right about this...
If you (not specifically) really have a brick then you should just pay for a jtag servicer to get it back in line. On your own dime.

bricked epic touch 4g (wont boot, cant get into download mode)

I was installing a kernel with odin and pulled out the battery by mistake. now it wont boot or go into download mode.
I cant seem to find anything relating to bricked epic touchs that wont boot or go into download mode. most people who have problems can at least still go into download mode.
is this GG for me?

similiar problem
I tried to upgrade to 4.03. but i realized ( at the worse possible time) that the pit and other files for it were for another phone. Now I can't connect to usb or start my phone. It says there was an issue upgrading the firmware. But I can however get into Odin/Download mode on my phone still. Is there anyway to fix this through an SD card install?

I accidentally flashed the t989 pit. Hard bricked where it wouldn't even power on. These guys were able to jtag my device back to life. Had my phone back within a week. They have a forum on XDA somewhere if you want more feedback. If you decide to sell "as-is" PM me.

Unfortunately my friend your phone is bricked. I have seen this numerous times in the last couple of months and the only way to recover your device is a jtag service, as someone mentioned above. The ROM you flashed is most likely an international version which is definitely NOT compatible with our device. The bootloader disables the usb port which in turn causes for you to not be able to connect to your computer. You can test this by going into download mode, and if you do not hear any dings when you plug into the computer, there is no chance. Most likely, your bootloader has either been corrupted or usb has been disabled.
I purchased a jig tool off ebay, that wont solve the problem?

Hey endofwed, my last post was for mortalitas91 he has a different set of circumstances than you. A jig should work in your case. Do you have the link to which file you tried to flash?

When you say you can get the phone into download mode does the computer recognize it then? If so it is most definitely NOT bricked. I had the same situation happen to me when I first rooted I flashed a rom for the galaxy I9100 thinking it was my phone because thats what it says when you turn it on. Turned out to be wrong and I couldnt connect through usb when the phone was booted either and couldnt acess my sd card. I could however get into recovery and acess the internal storage but that didnt do me any good because I had no roms on there. I was also able to get into odin mode so I just flashed back to stock through that. If you can connect through odin you are golden!
i think that is what i did. i flashed the ICS rom for the GT-i9100 . I can get it into odin mode (power button volume down) and factory mode with my usb jig. but it won't connect through usb. I saw something earlier about some king guy fixing that. but i haven't found out the instructions for it. ~ Mortalitas91

Ya same here and it definitely does seem like allot of people are bricking lately! It is because of samsungs tricky model numbers. Like I said in a previous post I almost bricked my phone too I flashed a rom for the GT I9100 but luckily Odin recognized my device still! Also Qbking is the man even though now I am at the point where I am 100% sure I know how to flash I still just watch his videos before I do just to be 110% sure. He DEF is the man!

please help

i recently got tmobile galaxy s2 with cracked scree. so i replaced the screen and when i turn it on. it reboots then after 1 min it does the same thing over and over. idk why that's happening. any idea how to fix the problem. help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
I would recommend you call and get another if you just got our. I really don't suggest the following return it! I am not responsible for what you do with your phone. If it is bad hardware you want a new one.
You just need download mode hold Vol buttons on boot and plug in USB as it boots but before samsung logo goes away (may take a few good tries there is a real trick to it sometimes).
If that works follow Odin flash directions for rooting the phone. I used theunlckr guide myself (easy find via Google).
If you can get download mode and flash a recovery package to it you may get it running. may just be really bad flash on their end.
I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU REALLY TRY RETURNING IT AGAIN IF YOU JUST GOT IT. USE THIS ONLY AS A LAST RESORT. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS WITH YOUR PHONE.

I have the tar file in PDA on ODIN, but I can't get my device into download mode because it won't respond. I tried hitting start on Odin anyway but nothing happened.
I was thinking I could tell my computer somehow the device is my phone but I'm not sure if that would help without it being in download mode.

If you're sure you can't get into download mode then your best bet is to get a USB jig. They're fairly inexpensive, i'll link you one. This jig has good reviews and works for pretty much any Samsung device with DL mode:

[Q] Slimbean Brick

So I flashed the latest Slimbean last night and it instabricked my phone. Total failure. After I rebooted the phone would turn on, wont charge, wont go into recovery or download mode. Yes I flashed correctly and yes the battery was charged. This is probably the 10th rom i've tried with this phone. Any help out there?
Make sure you're trying to boot into download using the correct combo (Vol down + power + home buttons) use Vol up for recovery.
Make sure the file you downloaded is for US GS3 codename "d2att,d2tmo, or d2ca" and not anything international.
If you didn't flash anything international or from another phone you shouldn't be bricked.

Because the international versions hardware is COMPLETELY different than US version.
If you did flash international version you're completely out of luck, you're bricked and your phone is now a paperweight. Sorry bud.
Only thing that can bring it back to life is JTAG service.

Download Kies to get drivers then disable or uninstall kies so it doesn't disturb Odin. Flash stock ROM with Odin and you should be good to go. You'd need to get into download mode though on the phone. If you can't, I'd say you can only JTAG.
Course, I've never bricked my device. That's just what I gathered based on the little bit I just read up on. Good luck.

As stated by busarov, if your device is seen by your PC there is still hope!
Try Odin as many times as you can as long as your device is visible.
I've read its taken up to 5 times times for some users to get it to work after flashing international firmware.
Just don't use Kies. Since your device is rooted it will have problems. Stick to Odin.

There is not necessarily hope. The PC can still register a generic USB device on a hard brick. Unless the phone can be put into download mode, either by Volume Down + Home + Power or by homemade/purchased USB JIG, I'm afraid a JTAG is your only recourse.
Keep in mind if the device does not turn on at all, no vibrations, no flicker of light, even after a battery pull, and the only sign is a red LED turns on when plugged into the charger, the phone is hard bricked and will require a JIG (not guaranteed) or a JTAG.

Agreed, even though you flashed a Slimbean ROM, it was for the incorrect variant. Your thread title should be changed to reflect that, as it may cause new users to be fearful when flashing that ROM.

It's going to require jtag service. I can't change the title of the thread, but if a mod wants to, please go ahead.

That stinks. At least it an option for us on Samsung devices. Mobiletechvideos.com for jtag is fairly quick from what I have heard. Good luck to you

Yep, that's a hard brick alright.

Try posting your issue in the actual thread in original android development

Only your recovery and possibly boot partitions are touched, so worst case you can always get to download mode. However if the phone won't turn on at all its something not directly related. What happened before you rebooted into this state?

i was doing the freegee thing and it had finished i went to home and hit reboot and nothing it stayed there
FreeGee has been updated and I unlocked my phone without any issues.

Mine's doing it too man. Installed the app. Phone is rooted but stock recovery. Let it do its unlock thing and said yes to disable LGE security. Then tried to reboot using the volume and home keys to get to recovery and it gave a "Secure booting failed. Cause: Device Unlocked so boot success!!" message. Then LG logo again then AT&T animation and that's as far as it gets. No recovery menu, no normal boot. Just AT&T.
You get yours figured out yet? We gonna have to LGNPST back to stock?

I am really sorry to say this but if that is the case then your hard brick can't be fixed your option is warranty.

If you bought the phone within the last 14 days then you can return it if not you can call at&t and speak to warranty and they will send you a warranty replacement your other option is to ask if they have a local warranty center they can try to flash it or exchange it.

Are you sure you were putting it into download mode? You take out the battery. Then put battery back in the phone. THen I believe you hold the volume down key and plug the phone into the computer. Then LGNPST should recognize the phone after you change the COM port to I believe 41 or 42
Edit: You hold BOTH volume keys while plugging the phone into the computer. It needs to be completely off when you do this.
Edit 2: Here's the guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660
Switch it under device manager to COM port 41. Now flash tools should recognize it.
I'm honestly bummed that I'm now going to have to re-setup everything again. I just had to flash my phone 2 weeks ago to get rid of 2nd Init recovery to install the value pack. Now I get to do it again, then run the update, then re-root, and put my 200+ apps back on, lol. FML. I guess this just isn't the phone the tinker with. Never had any of these issues on my S1, S2, S3, HTC One, One X, Note, etc. Oh well.
Tried it didn't work thanks for the help anyways guys i have a 90 day no questions asked with Costco so i'll take advantage of that any way to export text and call logs? Too much to ask right?

Hey do you remember what version of freegee you installed? I think somehow you might have gotten version 1.0.6 instead of 1.1.0. Ive been through everything and the only thing that could have bricked you was using and older version of freegee. I didn't post on xda till Google showed the updated 1.1.0 version was live but maybe somehow you got an older on?
