Sprint suit for charging the extra $10 for 4G LTE that we aren't getting yet!!! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

We should start a class action suit on Sprint, for charging the extra $10 for 4G LTE phones, and if it's not available in your area... Sprint shouldn't be charging the extra $10 until they deliver, cause there charging us for something there not giving us. I just want my $10 back for every month I've paid the extra fee for LTE, up until they deliver it. Who's with me!? Do the math, it adds up....

This has been discussed ad nauseum. The $10 is a premium not for the data, rather just for simply having a smart phone.

Sprint customers have been paying this fee for a long time. Long before they were even talking about LTE.

how are you gonna sue them for something you agreed to when signing the agreement when you bought the phone? that cracks me up:good:

You're basically paying for Sprint to build out their network. I wouldn't be surprised if they eliminate unlimited data once they are done rolling out LTE.

Hah! I remember this crybaby argument back when I had an EVO! It's a data fee, not a 4G fee. If you don't like it, feel free to drop your unlimited data and switch to another carrier.

Ok soo to get this straight.
The $10.00 fee was originally labeled as a WIMAX 4G fee only for 4G phones.
Then people got all up in arms about not having wimax 4g coverage and still getting charged the fee.
So Sprint got smart and said let's make some money and re-label it as a "premium data" fee. And now it's charge to all phones that sprint considers high data use phones aka most smart phones.
OP I can give you a box of tissues to cry in if you'd like?

yup..
Everything above is exactly right. Although must add that I heard ppl who calld n *****d got the fee knocked off. And also must add, read ur contract, you can't start a class action suit. Thx for the lolz tho would rather read this than 50 post abt some dumb ass hard brickin

You're right, and I have screenshots to prove it from when I disputed this with Sprint myself. Unfortunately there's no winning, but you're right:

After people started complaining:
Funny, their network is still sh*t because they simply don't invest into improving the 3G part of it. Yes, yes I know all about Network Vision. It's been talked about forever and they've been working on it forever. Yet nothing has come of it. And that's why I left them for Straight Talk AT&T. This is coming from an ex-Sprint employee too.

I signed a contract with them 2 years ago, and at the time they were calling it a "4G wimax" fee, many months after the contract start date, they started calling it a "premium data fee". Well, they didn't have 4G wimax in my area when I signed the contract, even though it's a major city where both AT&T and Verizon now have LTE, and seeing how things are going, Sprint eventually decided that wimax was a losing and obsolete technology so now they've decided to switch to 4G LTE, guess what, we're never gonna get wimax where we are now, and it'll probably be another 2 yrs before they might even get close to having LTE here. So that means waiting another 2 yrs to get the "premium data"? Meanwhile, now that they're trying to fund their LTE installation, somehow their CDMA 3G has got even worse than before, to the point that I barely even get a continuous data connection, my voice calls often say "network busy" or shows roaming, and data speeds average about 100 kbps when they used to consistently be about 700 kbps when I signed up for the contract. Needless to say, I got fed up and switched to Verizon. However, I agree with this post, why should i have to pay the 4G additional fee only for them to realize they could get sued and change the name of it to "premium data fee", only to figure out that they picked the wrong version of 4G so I have to wait another 2 yrs, and during the process not only not get "premium data", but now not ANY data? I already paid for it for 2 yrs, and where did that get me? I agree, they should return people's extra $10 if they failed to improve their service during this entire time, and if you switch due to their non-existent data and voice service, they should also void your ETF becuase it is their fault. I never wanted to go to Verizon, so why should I have paid the extra $10/month only to have to switch carriers now?
How does it go to proceed with suing them?

More proof from before:

The $10 fee has nothing to do with 4G / LTE though, so what would the class action suit be over? Its basically just a fee that they charge on devices they think use more data, has nothing to do with 4G.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium

When they first started charging it with the release of the original EVO I was very upset because I could never get WiMax to work anywhere. But after all the other carriers just discontinued unlimited data I think the extra $10 charge is well worth it to subsidize my heavy internet usage

Not that it really matters now. But you have had a couple chances to get out of your contact ETF free over the past 2 years. This was due to changes Sprint made with in their TOS.

[Q] Getting terrible data speeds and want to switch.

For the past few months i have been receiving terrible data speed on my 3g connection as well as failed sent text messages. Also with all of the 4G fees, I have 3 lines as well as the fee of having a third line, switching to verizon will be the same cost as i am already paying.
I've decide I officially wanted to switch after seeing the lte speed on verizon. I understand they will drop once the towers get populated but i'm sure it can't get worse than what i'm dealing with. I know you can change the prl to roam on verizon and eventually have my contract terminated.
I know this might be wrong but how i've been treated by sprint has been wrong as well. I would like to escape etf charges, and sell my 2 evos and 1 evo shift and get the thunderbolt. Thanks.

I can respect that you want to leave but instead of abusing the system with PRLs just call them and explain the issue [no doubt you've called and complained about the speeds multiple times].
They are required, with the contract, to give you a certain level of data speeds.
You're not getting them therefore they are violating your contract agreement.

That's $50 more a month without Navigation or even detailed billing (for the sake of arguments and keeping things simple)
But, if you want out of your ETF your best bet is to call Sprint and have them check your area, how long your towers been down or being worked on and ask to be let go. Don't ruin it for everyone by doing a PRL hack.

Okay, I won't do the prl hack. I called them friday to complain and they are sending me a airwave, which no matter how well it works doesn't help me, when i have wifi at home. I will call the day I get it and complain again and demand to be canceled. When they give you cancelation without etf is it automatic or do I have time to go to verizon literally and sign a contract.
Also I dont know where you got that price from. Right now I am on the family data plan which is 139.99, this gives me 1400 but with mobile to mobile we barely use 500 any given month. The 4G is another $30 and the third line is $20. Thats 189.99 for crappy service.
On verizon, I only plan on getting the 700 minute plan with texting which is $99.99 plus data for 3 phones is 90, making it 189.99 for the current super fast lte, which by the way is availible in my area unlike the 4g i've been paying months for.
Also I realize I should have stated that i only need 700 minutes. Another question, any chance you know the terms of sprints unlimited mobile to mobile compared to verizons.

When I was with Verizon, they didn't have true mobile to mobile. It was only Verizon to Verizon. If you talked to a mobile number on a different network, you got charged minutes. Also, Verizon's free nights start at 9pm, sprint is 7pm.
I'm not sure if Verizon has changed their mobile to mobile policies, but it was less than a year ago that I was with them.

That price was their 1400 minute plan, remember they don't have unlimited calling to all mobile phones in america, only Verizon and their nights don't start at 7pm. All that aside, tell them you will be porting, speeds are horrible, ask can ETF be waived since you're porting.
That's simple...with Sprint you get unlimited calling to any mobile number on any carrier. On Verizon you will get unlimited calling only to other Verizon customers. Calls to people on any other carrier will come out of your minutes.

If you have a Google Voice number or don't plan on porting your current number, you should look to see if you can get a plan that has Verizon's friends & family feature. It allows you to get unlimited calling to 5 numbers, if you use your Google Voice number on one of the those lines, you'll get unlimited calling to any number when calling though Google Voice.

Who is going to leave Sprint after contract is up?

I here a lot of people talking about just how terrible Sprint service is (myself included). I wanted to know how many of you are thinking of leaving Sprint to go to Verizon, AT&T, etc. I definitely know that I will be switching to Verizon after my 2 year contract is up. I love the SGS3 but hate the service. So...who's with me? lol
living just north of Chicago, i have great signal pretty much everywhere and LTE, so I'm lucky in that aspect. plus i use a ton of 4G data
So I am not planning on leaving, but i know if i had crappy service I'd be looking elsewhere.

Probably switching my 5 lines to Straight Talk. 2 unlimited and 3 on the lower level. It will save me a nice chunk of change, and upgrade my service. Never had Wimax, and will never have LTE. I just beg Sprint every month for the usable 3G that I had 20 months ago. We aren't on a "list" to get anything. They are forcing my hand

I live in WNY, and actually get pretty decent Sprint service day to day. It prob helps that I have an Airave at home, and am on Wifi both at the office and home. Just renewed for 2 yrs with the Sam's Club $0.96 GS3 deals, renewed both lines on account. Also get 23% discount, and unlimited data...so it's gonna be very hard to leave Sprint any time soon...my entire company is on VZW, and our company gets 17% discount, still not worth giving up unlimited data for!
Never. The service is serviceable but the unlimited data for the price is unbeatable.

Does the AirRave cause you to get dupe SMS' or anything? Mine was acting all nutzo.
I don't plan on leaving. I have Spotty 4G around Indianapolis but the price blows away the only other carrier (Verizon) that I would consider. But I am around wireless the majority of the time and haven't been in a situation where I could not get by with 4G.
I just got my S3 last week from Radio shack for 99 dollars that came with 50 dollar Google Play Credit. That came in handy for stocking up on a few widgets I needed to customize it.
I would be gone if I didn't pay $41 a month for unlimited everything with insurance included. At&t, Verizon, and MetroPCS all have LTE in Sacramento where I live and T-Mobile has HSPA+ 42. Sprint doesn't even know when they are going to start to roll out LTE here. In the meantime my 3G is absolutely pathetic. It is very frustrating to say the least. I'm highly considering Straight Talk or T-Mobile with a unlocked Nexus 4 when my contract is up in June.

Honestly, after 2 years you probably won't feel so strongly about leaving anymore, assuming data is still unlimited.
Sprint now has 100% of clearwire....That makes them the Company with the Biggest Spectrum and SoftBank putting Billions into being the number one, He's that type of Guy, no second in the Game for him, so that means lower cost to be coming, unlimited to stay and All others to Envy us Sprint Users.....Good things come to those who WAIT....lol....
I'm in Hudson County, NJ and prior to Hurricane Sandy, the signal was sketchy at best. After the storm, I have yet to reach two bars of signal at my home. I called Sprint and they said the towers in my area were afffected by storm and they were aware of the situation and trying to get things back to normal. I have yet to see any improvements. Wimax was available here but LTE looks like mid 2013 at best. Since I renewed my contract to get the SIII, I'll be on the hook until 2014 but this will be my last run with Sprint if I dont see significant improvements on their network around here.

How do you only pay $41??? If that was all I had to pay I wouldnt complain either lol. But I live in Tallahassee, FL and I am lucky to get 300kb/s download speeds, so needless to say, I only use wifi. Also I would only have to pay $15 more to switch to Verizon so thats a no brainer to me.

Unlimited Data?? Hahaha when you only get 300kb/s down, unlimited data is useless. I would rather pay $15 more on Verizon and get LTE speeds on have 4gb of data that I will never exceed. I guess it would be a good deal if I lived in an area that had reasonable data speeds tho.

But unlimited data means nothing unless you can use it. If you are on wifi all the time then unlimited data is worthless to you too. With Verizons "limited" data plan you can get 4gb of data and trust me you will never use that much. But like I told the other guy, if you get reasonable data speeds where you live then Sprints plan IS unbeatable. I only get on average 300kb/s down lol
Atlanta, GA
Here in the Atlanta, GA area, I get pretty good service since they turned on all the LTE towers. One place I don't get good reception is in my house. I have considered trying to get a free airrave to solve that. I will be sticking with Sprint, unless things suddenly go to pot.

Honestly, since the network vision started my service became alit better. In every way. I had dead spot in my area in one block I would perfect signal the next completely dead, and now it have a 50% increased in sign in all my dead spot. An network vision has been fully deployed. Before making rush decision I would say wait and see what sprint offers with their network upgrades specially now that they 100% clear. And will have 800mghz spectrum too. I say it going to go to number two if they actually able to keep their word with network vision

Forced to leave sprint
I got forced to leave sprint. I had 4 lines on a shared plan, and they booted my number because of excessive roaming. Now I'm stuck with a pretty new GS3 with no use for it. I ported my number to a dumbphone on straightalk toi save the number. Therefore if anyone wants I have a GS3 (16gig) with a cracked screen that I found after I got my new one through insurance, a GS3 (16gig) that Id be willing to trade both for a decent android GSM phone.
PM me if anyone wants it

I got a golden ticket!

The first six years of service were pretty damn good, and the price was great. However over the last three years, things just went to hell. Data rates slow as can possibly be, but I stayed with them because they were cheap. However back in October, my bill hit $280 after they just randomly removed my discounts, and then told me that they were no longer allowed to apply those coupons.
The "we'll upgrade it some day" network (there's nothing "now" about it, especially with $10 a month per phone for "premium" 2g speed data on towers they probably haven't upgraded in over 6 years) is no longer my network of choice. I live in the 6th largest city in the US and there's still no 4g from sprint, btw. Even a few small MVNO's in my area offer 4G. Sprint is a horrible name for this company, Crawl would be a more appropriate name.
For a while I've been trying to get off of sprint without ETF (it's totally unwarranted for what they've done to me,) and behold, the golden ticket has arrived:

Based on what I've observed on my own account, and on that of others, is that it takes three consecutive billing cycles of excessive roaming, and you'll get the termination letter up to about 10 business days after the end of the third billing period.
I called 611 and asked for details, and at first the retentions guy told me it was only for one line (I didn't call the number on the letter because it was past 7 PM.) However I called that number the next day and they told me it was the whole account, and to give them a call right around the time that I port the numbers out and they'll remove the ETF.
Anyways, t-mobile has offered me unlimited voice, text, and 4g data for a little over half of what I am currently paying sprint for limited voice and utter crap data rates. Only thing is I have to front the cost for the nexus 4 phones from google (1,400ish for all of them,) which I am more than happy to do as I will easily make up for the cost over the next year, and everything after that is pure savings.
You probably could have just called up retentions and explained your situation to them. That's what I did well over a year ago and I was able to get out of my contract ETF free.

I went well beyond that. I even had one of them tell me that my service quality was 100%, as in no dropped calls ever, so they weren't going to let me go (though that wasn't the reason I asked to get out, it is apparently the only reason they'll let somebody out). She said that the dropped calls must have been the person on the other end. I was baffled with that because I even called sprint earlier about a billing error (they make them every month, sometimes very egregious ones) and was either dropped or hung up on. She then told me that CSRs don't have the ability to hang up. So i said that either her metrics are wrong, or i was hung up on, and asked her which it was, and she kept dodging the question. But get this, later during that call I was dropped. She actually called back (!) and when I asked what that was, she said that she didn't know, but insisted that we have good service.
Anyways, I'm fairly certain that they wouldn't let me go because I was a high paying contract customer and never made any late payments in those 8 years. That is easily what sprint considers to be their most valuable customer outside of corporate contracts. Forcing their hand by making myself too expensive to be worth it was the only option.
Wow. I've been wondering about T-Mobile. My 3g speeds and home and work are so bad that I am literally forced to use a Verizon prl. I've been wondering if they will cancel me for about 7 months and I haven't received a letter or call yet. But since I switch to a sprint PRL when I'm in a sprint area, my data roaming and sprint data are usually pretty close. Wonder if that helps keep you from getting booted?

Congrats . I'm planning on the same thing myself. In my area ( upstate NY ), the entire 2 year term of prior 4g wimax phone, never saw wimax, now still yet to see any lte, and sprint customer service is just going down the tube, if it was ever " up the tube " lol. Anyway, that t-mobile plan is something you were offered based on a discount/family/corporate? or that's standard...?
Edit: I wonder if they will ask me for the free AirRave 2.5 back as well...id sure love to take it apart and have some fun...

They probably just treat that as regular roaming, e.g. you occasionally roam. What I did was download a bunch of 1GB test files all the time:
http://www.thinkbroadband.com/download.html
I would forget to now and then, but I mostly kept up with it, one month using 61GB. Make sure you only download these when your phone is charging, it will drain your battery fast.
From what anecdotal data I've gathered, in addition to what a sprint rep accidentally let out of the bag about it being flagged only at the end of billing periods, excessive roaming for three consecutive billing periods does the trick. Doesn't have to be for a full billing period, even if you started roaming at the very end (which is when I started.) I got the letter 6 business days after the end of the third billing period.
I'm currently trying to find a way to get off Verizon without having to pay an ETF. :/

Lol that's what I've been doing... I started downloading 1gb files about 2 weeks ago racked up 10gb in the last 3 days of my billing cycle. And I will continue to do so until I get booted. I had a discount on my account from my job and without warning the discount was removed right after upgrading. I still work for the same company and multiple calls to sprint didn't help. My bill went from $150 for 2 lines to almost $200. Not only that my bills arent even consistent. And every month my bill seems to raise a few dollars more. Sprint keeps telling me its BC of rising taxes So I'm gonna rack up as much as I can until I get booted. :banghead:

Good to know about sprint, I've always gotten decent speeds and signal with verizon but the cost sucks for one account. I guess sprint should really be toroMINUS, not toroplus. I'm also trying to get off Verizon without ETF like DirgeExtinction said. Currently using evasive minimalistic tactics.

Good work. My father had sprint for over ten years when we got out two years ago. The service here in San Antonio is really good. I had wimax years ago on my Evo.
I prefer Straight Talk BYOS program, unlimited everything and $45 a month. (I use work att and its okay, full LTE/HSPA+, same network and speed as ST since ST uses AT&T or T-Mobile towers). Check it out. Its a good option.
You'll love being GSM.

If you leave Sprint, who will you go to and why?

Hey everyone! When. My contract is up with sprint I will most likely be leaving them for another carrier. I am leaning towards T Mobile because of their upgrade plans and good "4g" speeds.
What carrier would you move to and why? I live near Orlando Florida if that makes a difference. Thanks!
T-Mo cuz I am never going to ATT again and screw Verizon in their money hungry pig faces... I'll probably stay with Sprint tho, but it's between those two only for me.

Already left sprint! Went to T-Mobile and it's been awesome so far.
Great speeds, cheap plans, good phone upgrade system, and they use gsm phones so if I ever get sick of them I can sim unlock and go with just about any carrier in the world.

I have been testing t mobile for work, and we already have sprint. What a difference. I can't wait for my contact to end. My phone calls don't drop longer, the speeds are 4 times as fast... T mobile is a good option IMO.

My contract is getting terminated on the 3rd of September. I am going over to AT&T. I love their customer service, and where I live they have great service. My biggest concern is where I work. That could be anywhere from Alaska up to New York at any ship building yard and sometimes a few miles off shore, any other carriers other than Verizon have no signal in those areas. Verizon is ok, but AT&T has a good signal inside the ships and a few miles offshore. T-Mobile and sprint... Nothing even around the ships.

I'm on boost right now, but definitely looking to T-mobile for the future..Better speeds...I'm just waiting to save the money for the S4...Doesn't matter where I'm at..I will always have a Samsung device..:good:
Whichever is cheapest without a contract.
<3ing T-mobile
I bought an HTC One outright on Swappa for $460 and put it on the T-mobile prepaid $30/month plan Sim-kit I got at wal-mart. (Did I get raped for $20 you ask? NO because this includes the first month of use with it, so technically you can ignore the entire "add funds" step on the setup page. Comes with 5GB unthrottled data but only 100 mins. I use Groove IP + Google Voice anyway so this is a sweet deal for me. Gonna stick it to sprint who wouldn't let me out of contract due to material changes in July, since to them they are not "material" unless they make my bill go up. Which is utter bullcrap. Did you know? Sprint is NOT a member of the BBB. I find that funny.....I am currently roaming data trying to get my line cancled, but will probably eat the ETF(which with less then 9 months left, shouldn't be so horrible, and port my # to google voice for $20(so I never have to worry about giving my t-moble # out anyway)
I also feel that we do not get any roaming data on this plan.....but I'm near wifi enough daily to not really care, and even not roaming, the 2G speeds are still waay faster then any ****ty Sprint speeds. I've gotten 4GHSPA+ and 4GLTE in nearby towns and boy it was nice and fast! Still no Sprint 4GLTE what so ever, nor any 4GWiMax remotly near me (ironically they chose to give New Bedford MA LTE before Boston even? Seriously sprint?( Thus my GS2 is a very very sad phone to use
I also like how the ONE has b/g/n wifi so now I can actually get 100% signal in my bedroom whereas my poor GS2's G only had 1-1/2 a bar with me hanging it over my head to use -.-
Left Sprint for T-Mobile just this week. Been great so far and signal in my house is better than it has ever been with Sprint.
Only issue is that the Nexus 4 I got has a dead pixel Going to the store to get the phone replaced tomorrow.
I left them for PagePlus. While PagePlus does not have 4G yet, it's a BYOD (If you know the right people) and their coverage and 3G speeds are just like Verizons (they are true Verizon MVNO). Only $55 a month for unlimited talk/text with 2GB of data, and normally with promo codes you can get it down to $52.50. I plan on sticking with them until I can afford real Verizon (which currently for 1 line and 2GB of data would cost me $90 a month after company discounts :crying
I was with Sprint and actually never had a problem with their service. I was on the Unlimited Everything plan on the Samsung Epic 4G Touch and it came out to about $132.00/month with the phone insurance. The service for me was sensational as I am in West-Central Florida although I lived in 3G coverage and 4G was not available unless I went towards Tampa/West Coast. I never had any complaints or problems.
Eventually though I asked myself why I was paying that much a month for service when I could just hop over to MetroPCS and pay $40.00 for unlimited. I had a couple MetroPCS phones lying around for donor phones and I have not looked back since. The 3G coverage is a little spotty in some areas if you travel away from the coast but all in all; it was a way cheaper option.
When T-Mobile completely takes over MetroPCS and forces people onto GSM devices (Epic 4G Touch is CDMA), if that happens; I will gladly switch over to the S4 or S5 if it is out by then. Until then my Epic 4G Touch does everything I want and don't see too many reasons to upgrade yet.

I went with Ting because of their Bring Your Own Device program. It has worked really well for the past 6 months. The only part that annoyed me was the phone number porting process. After that, it has been the same service as Sprint, but it only costs $33 a month for my usage.
Here's a $25 credit link, if anyone is interested in switching to Ting.

Sprint To Make Buyout Offer For T-Mobile

A new report has surfaced this afternoon stating that AT&T isn’t the only one who wants T-Mobile and its millions of customers. We’re hearing Sprint is preparing a bid to buyout T-Mobile USA, which would be a big move to compete with the other main US carriers.
According to the Wall Street Journal nothing is final yet, but Sprint is in the final stages of preparing an offer for the buyout, which of course will need to seek approval before ever completing. Sprint was recently bought by Japanese carrier Softbank, who is now aiming to snatch up T-Mobile too and compete directly with Verizon and AT&T. This could be a major change that would shake up the mobile industry here in the US, and one worth keeping an eye on.
This isn’t the first time a company is going after T-Mobile. As we all know AT&T tried to do the same a few years ago and failed, as FCC regulators shut down the acquisition. If the deal ever gets approved it would leave the US with only three major wireless carriers, and instantly put Sprint front and center as one of the biggest carriers in the USA. Now only if their speed and network was anywhere near as good as Verizon, then we’d actually have something to talk about.
The WSJ states that Sprint is busy studying the approval and regulatory concerns before taking this huge bid any further, but if all goes as planned we could see Sprint launch the buyout attempt early next year. The deal is being reported in the ballpark of roughly $20 billion, depending on the size or percentage of the buyout.
T-Mobile’s parent company Deutsche Telekom reportedly wants out of the US market, and is willing to let go of its share of T-Mobile USA, which is around 67%. So that’s where the unsure number above actually stems from. AT&T’s effort was worth roughly $39 billion for the entire company, so we’ll have to wait and see exactly what Sprint and T-Mobile actually have planned for the $20 billion being reported.
Even if these efforts are successful and a buyout gets completed, the combination of Sprint and T-Mobile’s post-paid subscribers would be around 53 million, which is a lot, but Verizon has the lead at almost 100 million, and AT&T is sitting in an easy second with 75 million post-paid subscribers.
I hope it doesn't go through. I hate sprint. Nothing they do goes smoothly.

Sprint is only awful because of their **** download speeds and because they are cdma. If they switched over to gsm and gained access to the T-Mobile network, it probably would only help both companies honestly. They need to get rid of Hesse and make T-Mobile's guy the CEO though.

The FCC will shut it down for oligopolistic reasons. I doubt they will allow three carriers to control the wireless infrastructure, it's bad enough as it is now. Personally, I hope it doesn't go through.

This.
If the feds didn't let AT&T buy T Mobile why would they suddenly let Sprint do it?
And if they did AT&T would have a pretty firm case to keep this bogged down in the courts for years to come by claiming biased and uneven rulings by the feds that cost AT&T $3 BILLION due to thier "If the deal doesn't go through clause".
AT&T could demolish Sprint just by making their stock too volitile to touch due to the unsure nature of the merger that AT&T would tie up for years.
i left you for a reason sprint, everything you touch goes horribly wrong unlimited data doesnt mean squat if you cant use it. though i wouldnt mind t-mobile getting another chunk of cash for the deal not going through. would help them buy spectrum they want and benefits all of us

Why would they? Their "4G" was worse than some of my EDGE speeds. If they throttled at 4GB your bill would cycle before you hit 3.5
Sprint can blow a fat one. When/if you get a signal long enough to call their customer service - good luck getting anything accomplished. BTW, I live in their home city and I constantly roamed. WiMax gave me a massive 2-7 Mbps on a clear day with a full signal. They sucked so bad that I can't think of another way to say how badly they sucked unicorn d*** and gobbled up the balls without missing a beat.

???... I have unlimited data and never get throttled. I think most of their data plans are unlimited - but only xGB are at full speed - except the unlimited plan. I've been over 10GB just in my line and didn't get throttled (moved, was waiting on my ISP). You might want to double check which plan you have then call customer service.

I think the FCC didnt permit the ATT/T-Mobile deal to go through is because AT&T is quite large to begin with. It would have basically created a market with only TWO national carriers and price fixing rather than a fair competitive market.
The FCC has since allowed Sprint to acquire Clearwater and T-Mobile to acquire MetroPCS. This deal (although slightly larger) still would leave Sprint in 3rd place and 50% behind ATT. The other carriers couldnt object as they did before.
Still it would be bad for business allowing just 3 carriers here. Canada has 3 and is looking to add a forth. Would surely mean hefty price increases to us to help pay for the deal.
