Incipio Faxion... anyone own this case? - Galaxy S III Accessories

This is a new case offered by Incipio I already ordered mine I was just wondering if anyone has this case because I've searched the forums and found not anyone has mentioned it. I like tpu cases but I like the feel of polycarbonate. This case is probably similar to the Spigen NGP neo hybrid, which is what I was waiting for but I can't wait any longer. So let me know what you guys think about it if you own it.

Please post pictures when it comes in! what color combo did you get?

How do these stack up against the Trident Aegis or Otterbox Commuter cases? This case life sits right between those two in terms of pricing.

Just got my s3 today and got the incipio case from radio shack, just so it wasn't naked. The case is alright, light and thin, but the screen saver blows.

I had a commuter for about 24hrs... Now on a silicryllic and couldn't be happier. I have no kids, no real damage to any device but an iPhone that fell completely face flat onto hardwood @ 4ft and shattered into 100 pieces in an incase slider.
Otterbox Commuter
Pros
- Tough as hell! It seems overkill for my everyday use. People with defenders must play baseball with their devices.
- Dust covers will keep things cleaner.
- Flash, Camera, speaker are seperate cutouts and deep.
Cons
- Added way too much thickness IMO. I don't remember my iPhone 3GS in a case being this thick...
- Plastic is SLIPPERY. You need such a tough case because you'll be dropping it more than naked.
- Plastic came down the sides further than I would like, so you're holding onto it's slippery face, and not the rubber near the screen face.
- Buttons are terrible to press, way to hard.
- Damn near impossible to remove. I like to remove mine for cleaning once a week or two, and switch out with a thin hard shell depending on my day.
Incipio Silicryllic (Should note I've had this on two other phones now, but been happy with it's durability on them)
Pros
- Slips into pocket very easy.
- Isn't too thick
- Adds side grip over stock
- Looks much better, frankly more grown-up too.
- Slightly easier to hit the home button
- Around $10 cheaper than Commuter
Cons
- Probably not as protective as the Commuter on big drops(Based on a GNex and Titan, It's still very good, better than a TPU, hard shell, etc)
- Flash, Camera, Speaker opening is one large hole, easier to get the lens if it's lands on a protrusion.
- no port coverings
- Silicone can catch dust, but a quick wipe takes care of anything visible with it's clean lines.

This thread was about the Incipio Faxion guys not other incipio cases
Got my faxion case.. And I like it... It is thinner and lighter than the sycrillic and has good drop protection. It is in between a two piece case like sycrillic and a tpu case.. The polycarbonate back does scratch up fairly easy. I have the blue and Grey case. The white might not show up as much. I will post pics if I get the time.

Oh dang I never noticed this was a TPU/Polycarb case . How sturdy is the TPU core around the top and the bottom of the phone? I recently got the Silicryllic case and I don't like how loose the top and especially the bottom where the USB mini port is. It feels like that area might tear sooner or later.

While silicone does tend to be a little more flexible, I've never had even a pure silicone case tear on me yet, and I've had versions for years on a phone and a 7" tablet (switched to a folio for the tablet, though - better screen protection)
IMO, I'd always prefer silicone over TPU in a hybrid case, since it both provides better grip (if exposed by the polycarb shell) and better shock absorption. I don't think I'd ever want a pure silicone case for a phone ever again, though, since while the extreme grippiness is great, it's a lint magnet and a pain to pull out of your pocket sometimes. Also, it's too easy for toddlers to rip it off.

A friend had a simple silicone case on his phone and had those exact problems as you mentioned with it being a lint magnet and how troublesome to put it in and pull it out of the pocket.
My family recently upgraded their phones to the Epic 4G Touch and I ordered some simple TPU cases for them and I found even though the grip is less compared to the silicone hybrid, just adding some bulk helps with gripping the phones. I like how the TPU cases are just a tighter fit around the phones.
We all have come from phones that were maybe 4+ years old so they were thicker and we didn't have to worry much about damaging the phone from a drop. I myself came from the HTC Mogul so it was a huge change in the thickness of the phone.

What about the body glove drop suit? Anyone seen this, or have any opinions on it.

I want a simlar thing, I think I'm going to just wait for the OEM rugged battery door; looks sweet and will still work with the docks!

I picked up the bodyglove that ATT sells, love it so far feels good in the hand and deosn't add bulk to the phone. Bought the otterbox but that thing is huge don't like at all sucks to cause the store I got it from doesn't do returns so currently selling it on ebay.

I got this one as well. Had it for my Captivate too. Works great and doesn't stick to your pocket lining.
I think the Incipio Feather case should be very thin. Available from them directly or I'm hearing in Radio Shack too.
We have that same case on the wife's iP4 and it adds almost no bulk to the phone. It probably doesn't provide much shock resistance like the Otterbox cases, but prevents scratches and makes it easier to grip.
I purchased a smoke TPU case off of EBay; should be here today or tomorrow. I've used a TPU case on my EVO since about 2 weeks after I had it and I love the feel and the slimness of the case, and the fact that it provides a bumper of sorts to keep the screen from lying on surfaces (unlike the Incipio case).
The one I purchased is item 290530353216 (chose that one due to the seller's location being near to me, only reason really).
If you have prime with Amazon, the case 2 posts above is only $2 with 2 day shipping

Can you still dock the phone with the body glove?
The body glove case works with the car dock perfectly. It's a great case. Not to rubbery and not to slippery, just right.
any TPU case is the way to go. rubbery and protective, but not too rubbery to stick in your pocket and not come out.

I purchased the Speck case at the Att store. Very good protection nice looks without the added bulk of an otterbox case.

Cross posting this from the Incipio thread:
Just scored the Incipio Feather case (in black) - we're already using one on our iPhone 4, and I really like it. I wanted something to cover the back/side, provide better grip, and maybe offer a touch of drop resistance, but that's secondary.
The material is super thin, like 0.5mm or thinner, it basically adds no bulk to the phone. It does come with a screen protector, but I doubt I'll use it, I'm pretty gentle with my phones and they're usually just in my pocket (and I keep my rusty nails and broken glass in a +different+ pocket). Plus the design isn't edge-to-edut
The fit is tight, really clean, the ports/buttons are easily accessible. It uses that popular "soft touch" type material, which has an almost felt like surface. We have a Speck case that's like this. The nice thing vs. silicone is it's grippy, but it doesn't attract dust ~n~ gunk and wipes clean. It also isn't so sticky that it's hard to get out of a pocket!

The Body Glove does not work with these docks. It will fit (extremely tight), but the thickness of the sides of the case near the HDMI and microUSB ports keeps the phone from sitting all the way down on the dock. The end result is that it doesn't trigger or power the device.
I ended up returning my dock because of this.
+1 for the Incipio feather. Its the right mix of style and protection in the this case range. I dropped my phone about two feet this morning, and the feather was more than adequate to protect it.

Seidio ACTIVE Case Review

I received an ACTIVE case from Seidio recently and it was for the Motorola Atrix 4G. Well being a case from Seidio, it had to be something good packed in it.
The package was nicely fitted into an average sized package and it contained an instruction pamphlet and the case itself. No pictures here sorry =(. The case is consists of a 2 piece design where the 1st piece is a silicon based glove and a harder backbone would be attached on to the back to strengthen the case.
Here's the case compared to the other cases

(from left: Otterbox Impact, Motorola Atrix, Seidio ACTIVE case, Otterbox Commuter)
Size : The Seidio ACTIVE case had the slimmest appearance among all the other cases and it was the lightest among them too. The Otterbox Impact was the bulkiest followed by the Otterbox Commuter Case.
Looks good!
Closer view on the top section of the ACTIVE case. There is even a small curve at front camera. Nice one there Seidio!
Front View: The Seidio ACTIVE case covers the sides of the Atrix and has a groove to enable users to place the phone face down and would prevent the screen from getting scratched. However, it is noted that there is no protection on the top section of the phone unlike the Otterbox Commuter. I personally preferred the one without because on the Otterbox Commuter, there was a noticeable amount of dust getting stuck at the earpiece and the front camera. Getting them cleaned was a hassle compared to the ACTIVE case which is much easier to clean.
Back view: Back side of the case. It resembles a fish bone type of design and there are hand grips on the sides which gives a nice secure hold when it is held. The finishing on the back section was also a joy to touch as it was slightly rubberised but still strong enough to withstand impacts.
The earphone jack area and finger print scanner had their own openings. As expected, the case is quite a dust magnet but it is negligible as I found it quite easy to wipe it off. I've yet to find a case which does not attract dust at the moment.
The jacks were left exposed as well. Probably this is to reduce the weight of the case and ease accessibility to the ports. Makes plugging the device in and out from the cable easy =). The rubber grip on the back adds extra functionality by preventing the phone from sliding off the table as well.
Here's another shot where the finishing of this case could be much improved. Guessed it is from the molding process.
Final thoughts: The case from Seidio did not fail to impress me. Protection was great as it felt really solid and the fittings were perfect. The looks were pleasant to the eyes and not too large unlike some cases where you would look like carrying a little rock with you. The only thing that I hoped could be improved was the finishing of the product and it could be molded better. Product well worth the $ 29.95 price tag. Blows all the TPU cases or cheap branded silicon cases out of the water.
Nice review!
I take it that it has a silicone feel to it? I hate the texture of the Ottorbox plastic bits, reminds me of nails on a chalkboard.
Yup, very nice review. Case looks nice but I already see hairs sticking to the silicone. Looks nicer than Otterbox though.

These kinds of cases look too "industrial" for my taste. They seem to serve a purpose if you are putting your phone down in hostile environments but my phone is either in my holster or on my desk next to me.

The only two cases I have found that fit in the car dock are
1 - Motorola Ruggedized Battery Door, fits perfect in all docks with the little shim removed.
2 - The butt ugly Body Glove that AT&T sells for way too much money, I bought one too.
I have also tried the Seidio Active, a very nice case with great protection, and the Seidio Surface, preserves some of the slimness of the phone while giving some protection.
I've had this case for a few weeks now. Has anyone who owns one noticed any peeling on the silicone part? At the top of mine is has started to peel a bit. Is this normal?
Edit:
Here's what it looks like. I take good care of the phone too and have never dropped it. This is just from basic use.
Mine sees daily use as a gaming pad for a 3 year old and I've seen no problems.

just got my Trident Kraken AMS today!

I have the GLAS.t screen protector on my phone and I was worried about fitment, but I took a shot at it anyway.
The case consists of 2 individual layers: the first is a silicone case, which is just the more casual Trident Perseus, and the 2nd is the polycarbonate addon which turns it into the Kraken. You can use only the silicone layer if you like.
There were no fitment issues with just the silicone layer since it's flexible, but when I added the polycarbonate layer, it became a little tricky because of my thick GLAS.t screen protector. The fit is very tight and it took me a little adjusting to get it to sit well, but it's working well now.
The only gripes I have so far is the cover for the S-pen. Unlike the USB and headphone covers, there are no hinges or anything to secure the S-pen cover to the rest of the case, so it's just left hanging there all loose and free to flap around. You will be able to see it in the pictures. The second gripe I have is the kickstand. It's secured very tightly. Whenever I pop it out, it makes a loud popping sound and it feel like it's going to break off from the case.
Other than those issues, which are minor to me, I'm loving this case! It overall feels hefty and very solid in the hands. This case is huuuuge compared to my Seidio Active. It makes the already huge Galaxy Note even bigger and heavier. This case is not for everyone, but I figure if you are the type that would buy the Kraken, size shouldn't be an issue to you. If you do want the flexibility of going less rugged when you want, you can always just remove the polycarbonate layer.
Here are some pictures I just snapped:

You can clearly see the S-pen cover here:
And here:
Here's the case with just the silicone layer:
Here's one comparing the sizes of the Seidio Active and just the silicone layer of the Trident Kraken. They are about the same thickness and same size, with the Trident just a hair taller.
Here's one comparing the size of the Kraken and the naked Note:
Here's some comparing the thickness of the Kraken and the naked Note:
As you can see, it pretty much doubles the thickness of the phone.

With a case like that, I'd expect you're in construction about 500 feet off the floor! lol
Thanks for the thought and many pictures! It certainly helped me arrive at a concrete decision to buy the case. Would you share how thick it was with the outer shell on too?
this reminds me of the ballistic hardcore case i had for my old motorola atrix. that thing could take a drop, accidentally dropped it from the roof, atrix still ran fine, not a single scratch or crack on the atrix, and the case just had a few scratches.
if this case is anything like the ballistic hardcore, it will last you a while.

The photos of it on their website make it look like a flat black, but yours looks glossy. Is it because of your flash, or is the hard plastic gloss black?

+1 to that. Looks great.
Can it be used with the outer skeleton?

Which case to get? TPU, Polycarb, Silicone, Flip, ...

Since the international Galaxy S3 is exactly the same form as the U.S. variants, check out that thread first.
My 2 cents...
TPU:
All of the TPU cases are essentially identical, and provide the best protection VS all others -- except an Otterbox -- should you drop it, and the 2nd-best grip (VS silicone). They range from the official Samsung TPU cases ("overpriced"), down to the $2 EBay S-Line / X-Line's. I went for some middle-of-the-road Cruzerlite cases ($10 each or $20 for 3 on Amazon), and they're great, though not as grippy on the sides as I would've liked.

Hard Polycarb:
The hard polycarbonate plastic cases are also very nice and slightly thinner than TPU, but provide little drop protection. Some provide more top/bottom coverage than others, and some, like this Rock Quicksand case I bought, are actually much grippier than you might expect (it's grippier than my Cruzerlite!):
There are still many other types of cases to consider (listed in order of their level of drop protection):
Full body armor -- bulky; otterbox
TPU
Silicone / Gel / Jelly -- these are the grippiest cases you can get, but that also means they attract lint like the plague, are harder to take out of your pocket, and so flexible that they have a tendency to slip off the phone. I still have one of these $0.99 cases on my Captivate, and it's OK, but not ideal.
Bumpers -- protection around the edges of the phone only; often paired with body skins for scratch protection.
Polycarb
Leather pouches -- for "executive" style; slow to access
Flip -- usually seen on tablets; a little awkward to hold when the flaps around back; a big plus is that it replaces the original back cover of the phone, so the original will never get scratched; very little drop protection
Gelaskin / fullbody skins -- scratch protection, but zero drop protection; they're basically just stickers.
Metal battery cover replacements -- these are known to interfere with NFC, and GPS; steer clear
Other...
Soft TPU / hard polycarb are still the most common.
(my ideal case would fuse TPU or polycarb with grippy silicone on the edges, but AFAIK nobody makes this)
I have a flip on order. IMHO the display is the weakest link and the photos posted from EU with totally busted screens annoys me. I'm hoping that the flip's cover will help protect the display somewhat.
The problem is the design, there's hardly any bevel to keep the glass from hitting something and while it's stiffened glass it's not unbreakable. I'm going to gamble on insurance for a couple months even though the replacement cost with insurance is $200 plus processing ($50?).
I'm going with the otterbox defender.

In terms of protection that a great choice, however, it usually removes any styling from the phone. Since Samsung is making the flip case it won't box up the style or feel of the phone (and I have a desk charger on order too which it will still work with). There was a video on some UK retailer site...
I'm probably gettin a Diztronic TPU case once they're available have em on my Nexus GSII and Atrix all are great...minimal bulk great drop protection.

I'm liking the looks of this plus the price.
How is the Otterbox Commuter series in general? I'm looking for a quality case, but nothing bulky. I had a Defender for my iPhone, but it ended up being too bulky so I never put it back on.

People complain that the stand on most kickstand-cases is often flimsy or slippy, so I wouldn't cheap out here if you really intend to use the kickstand a lot vs a dock or desk stand.
If I hadn't ordered a universal ThoughtOut stand I'd have opted either for the official samsung vent case (where you put a coin in the back to act as the stand):
Or, this "SD smart stand" case, which is also getting high praise (the stand flips in and out like a wristband), though is a bit harder to find:
I ordered the S-Line off ebay for $2, and will replace it with an Otterbox Commuter the moment it's released.

What case should I buy? (Otterbox Commuter, UAG Case, SGP Neo Hybrid)

Hello guys, so I recently bought a AT&T i747 SGS3 and knowing how picky I am with my electronics I started to look right away for a case.
The case must not add bulk, must offer great protection against scratches as well as the case not scratching the phone in any way, must offer camera protection and must have at least a small lip on the front.
So far I have come across these 3 which are:
Otterbox Commuter
SGP Neo Hybrid
Urban Armor Gear Case for the SGS3
As far as the otterbox commuter, I had it on my atrix 4g and loved the protection it offered but a few months later it just gets old, attracts lint on the borders and overall takes the beauty and slickness of the phone but I must mention protection was great and that is the most important feature for me.

The SGP Neo looks very promising offering a good quality screen protector and overall a great case all around but what has me worried is the direct contact of the TPU with the phone, specially the camera area and bezel as opposed to the otterbox which has a rubber sleeve, I had a blackberry about a year ago and the phone scratched badly on the bezel from dust getting under speck TPU case and acting as sand paper.
The Urban Armor Case seems like a very well rounded case, offering some type of rubber/soft TPU inner lining on the inside and a very tough poly-carbonate shield on the outside. What I like is that both pieces are bonded together offering a seamless design but what worries me a little is the X pattern on the inside which seems to be part of the outer hard layer which goes all the way to the top of the camera/flash/mic opening which could potentially scratch those components down the line.
Which case would you recommend and why?
Other case recommendations are welcome.
I wouldn't recommend the SGP Neo Hybrid due to the issues regarding sensitive buttons which many/most people are experiencing.
To make things harder for you, I'd also recommend looking at either the Incipio Silicrylic or the Acase Superleggera.
Edit: I also hope you realize you're in the wrong device forum (but accessories are all the same so doesn't matter)

UAG, with out a doubt.
Sent from my BAKED SIII
Otterbox commuter. Feels better, looks better and UAG has horrible customer service

Otterbox no longer attracts lint.
Otterbox is the biggest and has the most sturdy feel to it.
UAG feels really good in the hand. Less slippery than otterbox.
SGP still has button issues. It is super thin but feels as sturdy as a gel case.
The speck case is nice.

How about
how about using the original from Samsung called flip cover that comes especially for protecting front and back side, see the pic:
I have the same color as the pic, your SGS3 will look very nice, I promise!!!!
Dont forget the Trident Aegis
Acase Superleggera
Currently not being productive on my S3.
.
I have the UAG & Neo Hybrid, both are going back.
UAG isn't bad at all, but I'm not a fan of the stiff buttons...that being said, the Neo Hybrid buttons are atrocious. I can't believe they even released this case with all the issues I've been having.
Will probably try the commuter case next, as people seem to be having less issues with the power button.
Hey guys,
I have all three cases. Hands down the feel and the buttons go to UAG. what r u guys talking about the UAG buttons feel crappy?'honestly they feel better then any case I have ever tried for the gs3. The protection , otterbox wins this by a hair. Look goes to sgp but its very thin, buttons feel like crap and you can't buy the plastic bands seperate.. plus customer support is crappy. I love sgp ultra clear screen protectors though..
I'm just giving my honest opinion and in very anal on cases.. the gf gives me verbal treatment for buying all these cases
Thank you guys for your sincere opinions, so far I am leaning towards the UAG in white. I never drop my phones or anything and they are always over some layer of rubber or cloth when out of my pocket but I know accidents happened and that is why I need a case to at least cover it from getting scratched or dinged.
DBA Ultra Complete

I own, use, and recommend the DBA Cases Complete Ultra. It is both thin and protective. The inner piece is made of TPU, no scratching your phone. The outer piece is a flexible polycarbonate. The fit and finish are first-rate. Both sides of the phone are protected when resting on a flat surface.

The Acase one is pretty nice for a dual layer one. It's what I use.

i have this case and the otter box (defender and commuter)
i like the defender because it has a protective screen the protects the entire front screen... the bad, obviously the size.
I like the commuter because it doesn't bulk up the phone that much, a bit slipper though at the back.
the original front flip case looks the best... but offers the least protection
Get the Commuter case! It's add a little bit bulky but the protection was MAX! I did few drop test in front of my friends to show off. It's drop from about 1.2 meter height and the case and phone survive it. I would recommend UAG case due to special design..^^
Commuter = Max protection + Keep the round shape of the phone
UAG = Less protection than Commuter + Makes your phone a bit square + nice design & less slippery.
Final decision still yours. Both case almost at the same price(UAG at Amazon.com, now only 21.99!!). Grab one of this and you will not regret for it. If not, grab both cases..xD

My sister grab this case also. Nice looking in the begining but after few months of use, the side of the flip cover start peeling off. Now she is using Non-Genuine SGP Neo Hybrid case only $6.

I'm waiting for mine to get here, just ordered one myself. As for drop protection, I would assume it offers as much protection as the spg or uag cases, if not more. There's a DBA thread where there is a picture of the outer plastic part of the case being bent almost in half and it still doesn't break so it's got to be pretty tough. The otterbox is pretty much max protection as far as drops go but it is also bulkier than any of the others mentioned.
