Moshi iVisor...innovation or ineffective? - Galaxy S III Accessories

I just seen this protector on CPN and the design is unique, piqued my interest. I haven't seen another like it. Anybody have it and if so, how is the fit and clarity? Does the colored areas match the phone nicely and blend it as it should does it stand out like a sore thumb?

I had one on my atrix 2, and while i liked it, I dont know how well it would fair against the bevelled edges of the screen, being that it is completely flat.... Anyone else who has one some input on this would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance....

I've seen a lot of these before an installed many of them for people and everytime i did it fit very very well and highly recommend over any other screen protector on the basis that you can remove it wash it and dry it and use it again. Zagg sucks

I bought this from my local ATT store a few days ago...
I am Mixed on if I like it or not. The fit and finish is very nice... it feels nice and doesn't have a problem with the beveled edge.
The Clarity of the screen is good... but it is not as good as a naked screen I have the iVisor AG and the AG stands for anti glare. it does cut down on glare but it does muddy the image some.
As far as the visor part matching.. it does not match perfectly. You can see the cutouts on the bottom of the phone for the 2 soft keys. It's not terrible but it's not perfect either.
one thing I do love about it is 0 fingerprints and the quality of the screen is very good. I feel very confident that my screen is protected. 0 bubbles, application is a breeze and you can pull it off and clean it. Although I haven't had to yet.
I paid 25 bucks and that is a bit steep if you ask me, I was really feeling vulnerable having my phone naked so i went ahead and bought it.
anyways.. my .02

Thanks for the link. On the white phone there is some led bleeding around the capacitive buttons, I'd imagine this would significantly decrease that. Hmm.....might have to stop by AT&T tomorrow

I usually can't stand most screen protectors especially anti-glare, but this new moshi ivisor ag on my galaxy 3 is incredible. Inside screen looks great and fool proof to put on take off and back on again!

I had one and I didnt like it. Install was easy and bubble free.
It was far to easy to get dust between the screen and the protector it self. Also had a hard time getting any case to work with it. Maybe it was just my bad luck? Then again maybe not.
Try it out! You may like it. I on the other hand didn't find it all that great. Way to pricey and the screen protector seemed to have collected dust and lint like crazy.

I bought one for the pebble blue, and really liked it. Did a great job of preventing fingerprints. Overall, it blended in very nice. Most people didnt even realize a SP was on it.
I ended up returning it and just getting a basic SP because I couldn't use it along with the TPU case I got. Because the iVisor goes all the way to the edges, when I put the case (Diztronic Matte Black) on, it would push the iVisor up. The case was more important to me, so I opted for the regular SP that doesn't go all the way to the edge. This will work until I get an Otterbox Defender.
If you don't use a case...the iVisor works very well.

Good to hear. Does the part covering the screen lay flat against the screen or is there a bit of room between them? The way I imagine you'd be able to tell is when you press on the screen to type or swipe, you'd see some movement in the protector possibly causing a slight degredation of the display.

That goes with any protector, as far as getting dust trapped. That's more of an issue with your environment and your prep work than the protector itself. What case were you trying to use with it? Yeah, it's very pricey but worth it if it can be reused, as user friendly as claimed and doesn't degrade the display much like most AG protectors do. I like that it covers the whole screen but doesn't present the danger of installing a wet application protector....nor the downtime that goes along with those.

Yeah, those TPU's fit very tight so I could see how that would be a problem with this protector. I use a Incipio Silicrylic so hopefully I'll be fine cause I stopped by the AT&T store today and picked one up! Gonna install it later on and see how I like it, will post a review as well.

I love mine I got the white one eventhough I have the pebble blue phone. I think the contrast looks nice even where the menu buttons appear. It was hard to find a case that fits right with this protector but this speck case goes great with it. Please ignore the bad photos can't find my nexus or camera so found a thundebolt laying around to take pics. For a 35 dollar case it scratches easily but still looks and feels great and provides reliable protection

Atrix TPU Case Received, pics inside

Hey everyone, I received my TPU case from EBay (item 290530353216) today, here are some comments and pics. The fit is only OK - the cutout for the USB/HDMI ports is a little off, and there is a little bit of an edge around the power button that impedes fingerprint swipability a little. I will say too that I didn't expect it to have the goofy pattern - what is it with TPU cases and argyle patterns?? Also, as you've noticed it is somewhat translucent.
I give it a 3/5. $7 shipped in the US. I'll keep it until another inexpensive case rolls around that is higher quality.
And just in case anyone wonders, on my screen are the Pandora Widget, Android Agenda Widget, and some apps. I am running ADW Launcher (free). Also, I know I left my back panel sticker on there, and that was on purpose.

Yeah seriously with the frikin argyle ****! Its like they made a billion sheets of the argyle TPU and they just like heat mold them to phones (not like thats how they're made). This will be my third phone encased in argyle TPU. Other two were the dark one like yours, this time I got sick of trying to hide the argyle and people asking about the stupid pattern. I got clear so, "yes its frikin argyle! got a problem!?"
Waiting for the Realook screen protectors to be cut. no idea why it takes them so long to cut the right size. Realooks are by far the best screens...
Everything is temporary at this point...I'll buy nicer stuff once my 30 days are up.
I was fortunate enough to have a solid black non-patterned TPU case for my EVO that someone on this forum actually commissioned and was selling out of their garage essentially.
Check out tpu-cases.com. I bought an all black one there, shipped same day. Quality is nice, it's glossy, feels good in the hand for an 8$ case.
the 1.99 one I got from ebay is decent
Nice, never seen that site before. I'll order one up and hopefully it'll get here by the time I'm home from travel. Wish someone would make one like I had for my Evo though - it was matte on the back and shiny on the front.

Well I tried the Speck (or whatever it's called) case from AT&T and hated it...looked and felt like a toy.
Then I tried the Otterbox Impact (the smallest case they make). It's made of a type of rubber that sucks up all dust and won't let it go. It's pure black rubber but after putting it in my pocket and driving up to Starbucks to meet some friends...it looked gray. My pockets don't have any lint or anything in them...and yet the case now looks completely gray. I just put it on yesterday. It's also a bit big for my tastes...and the phone can easily come out of the bottom.
I'm going to try the cheapest cases on eBay. They always worked great for my Nexus 1 and most other phones I've used. The cheap thin rubber is fantastic for me. The phone's so freaking sexy...I just don't want to add a bunch of mass to it.

i like the feather as well. not much in terms of impact protection, but most of my scratches come from the phone vibrating on the desk over time and scuffing the battery door, so its a nice line of defense against that. also, its a little less slippery than the standard battery door which i like

Yeah its great for worrying less about the normal wear and tear.
I particular like the argyle tpu cases which give decent protection and feel. i have it for the ipad, galaxy tab, atrix, inspire, and xoom.
www.degasis.net offers these as well
I ordered my case from http://www.degasis.net/models/atrix.html (as the poster above recommended. $6.98 shipped
This is the best fitting TPU case I've had across all my devices. The best part is that it actually makes the on/off button easier to push and the finger scanner easier to operate (its cut at the perfect angle to compliment it). Its slightly different cut but a better fit than the pictures posted above.
I'll post pictures when I come across another camera some time today or tomorrow.
TPU is far superior to any other case material in my book. perfect balance of grip/non-stick, thinness, protection, and fit.

That's the problem I have with the feather - it doesn't protect either end of the device, only the sides and back.
Judging by the picture, it looks like you have that "textured" screen protector. What is the screen protector you are using? Those are my favorite kinds and I have been trying to find one for a while! thanks in advance
Kbc, who are you asking? I'm using an AT&T screen protector. It's matte and perfectly smooth.

Anyone Using A Matte Screen Protector?

I cant find any. its probably just because of the phones newness i guess, but there is a shortage of cheap accessories on eBay... lol but patience is a virtue...
DO NOT use matte protector, it makes the SAMOLED look like 1970s B&W TV with no signal, I tried it on my vibrant and on the new sgs-II with same results. Anyways if you want one then its available here:

hmmmm never heard this before.... this is not good. thanks for the heads up. i was deff gonna buy one. how did it do against finger prints?
It does reduce the fingerprints as compared to glossy one but at a cost of looking at horribly pixelated screen with rainbow effect which is much noticeable in solid colors or backgrounds. You'd wish they worked as well as matte screens on laptop.

I used to have a matte screen protector on my HD2. Gave me headaches from the rainbow oil-slick effect.
Yep, the other members are correct. I had one on the S2 for about...two days because my OEM screen protector had gotten bent, and it was the worst move ever. Touch accuracy was a joke. The screen looked horrible. ~1980's tv
Yeah I hated my matte screen protector on my SGS4G. Made it look really pixilated like vicosphi said.

Unlike the typical screen protectors, the ones I got from XtremeGuard do not have 3 layers of plastic (meaning there's no protective layer covering the top of the screen protector itself, just the screen protector and the backing).
In addition, the sides of the screen protector do not stick to the screen. You get a bubbling effect all around the screen protector. This probably has something to do with the poor cutting of the film. You can see that they aren't well cut even before peeling and applying the screen protector. I haven't had this issue with other screen protectors, and yes, I've used many.
Maybe they sent me a bad batch but I'm only speaking from experience. I'm not talking about their other full body products, only the screen protector.
I still have around 4 or 5 of them lying around at home left over from testing if anyone wants pictures but that would have to wait until tonight.
Just got my phone today... ordered Realook Screen protector two days ago... I had it on my Samsung Vibrant.. one of the best! It gives the real glass feel and looks like nothing is there.... hope it give me the same result.
i ordered this cheepo matte one. when i get it i'll do a review of it.

i got a matte for my hp touchpad and i love how it makes the screen easier to use even though image is less crisp.
matte Screen protector
I tried a matte screen protector and am glad I finally got some regular ones. The matte one, does not look good on the phone. It is harder to read smaller words and does give the screen a much less defined look. One other big issue is my matte screen did not have the cutout for the front facing camera and every time I tried using the front facing camera, my face was all blurred out. One selling point to the matte screen is enhanced visibility in sunlight. I found out this is not true with the super AMOLED plus screen. The screen looks fantastic in sunlight with a regular screen protector, and dull looking with the matte screen. Hope this helps.

I purchased an xtreme guard on Ebay and the cutout was reversed. The sticky part was on the wrong side. The seller is sending me a replacement. hopefully it's correct this time. The cutout doesn't seem exact either. I'll report back when I get the new screen protector. I purchased a mirror finish one prior and I couldn't see **** in the daylight. Lol!

3 layers? That's the cheap crap. Why do you need to cover a scratchproof screen protector? How do you think they keep costs down? By not doing laying an unnecessary layer of film. Even the $30 ZAGG doesn't have a top protective layer.
In addition, you more than likely applied the film incorrectly.
Mine should be here anyday now. I'll post how to make it proper.
I don't work for Xtreme. I've just always used them since my LG Dare days.
I've worked in the wireless industry since 2005. I applied over 400 screen protectors in the past year.
I can say it's not for everyone. Especially the wet applications. I actually ordered one to prove you wrong.
I'll also do an iPhone 4 and Touchpad as well.

I didn't read the directions. I used a spray bottle. I didn't use the squeegee that came with it. I used another. The screen protectors work perfectly fine. Yes, it gets bubbles. But that's the concept. That's how all wet applications work. I did 3 today and they all settled / cured within hours. Be sure to take your time. I use an air duster. A little heat goes a long way and speeds up the process. I usually throw it in my pocket screen facing my leg.
If you get dust under there, you muffed up.
Some of the bubble will stay under there for 1-3 days. You can work them out. If you stretch the screen protector it will overlap and you will see it lift up. I left mine sit in the sunlight for a little and the bubble started working themselves out. Make sure you're doing it right first before telling everyone to avoid the company. Have a little more tact. I'm sure most of the others are probably better at simple things like applying screen protectors than you are.

ZAGG Invisible Shield (mini-review)

Just thought I would share. I picked up a ZAGG Invisible Shield for the Galaxy Nexus today at BestBuy. As usual, its top notch. Very well cut. Reaches to all edges, not too hard to install (mind you, I have a lot of experience with them, and have gotten pretty good lol)
(sorry its stupidly hard to take pictures.. and uhh I used my Nexus One to take them lol) BUT just as the pictures show.. it really is invisible and hard to notice.

+1 on the powerskin.
is there a "invisi skin" for the body?
i'm more interested in putting a invisible shield type protection for the body.
as for the front, i've used armorsuit and they have less orange peel effect.
without a suitable "powersupport" type i probably would just use the wet skin, but not for this phone. resolution and screen is too damn sexy.
How's the feel of it? I never liked the rubbery feeling of ZAGG protectors... made swiping motions on the screen a chore. Has it changed from their previous material or is it the same?
+1 for Best Skins Ever, their stuff is super cheap and works amazingly well with minimal orange peel and not as grippy as the Zagg. I've tried them all; Zagg, GhostArmor, Skinomi, SGP, but as far as the wet film install types, Best Skins Ever is definitely my favorite.

I concur, and the orange peel bothers me. Never using them again.
The cover itself is very good though for those who aren't OCD like me.
I like Zagg. I'd rather have a thick film that actually protects from cuts and scratches than a thinner one that looks nicer.
The only time the zagg shield are hard to use is the summer time when it's humid outside. Makes swiping hard.

It doesn't feel rubberish actually, and when you look at the reflection, its kinda looks slightly bumpy (though can't see any air bubbles). On screen, it kinda looks like there is a smear of water/oily look -- but then again, I only just put it on 10 minutes ago!
It does say that micro air bubbles will eventually come out over the next couple of days, so will see how it goes.
I love mine. Ordered mine on CyberMonday from Zagg along with my full body for my 2011 11'' MacBook Air. Due to issues with customs I received my shield prior to getting my phone so before I even booted the phone up it had its protector on. I put Zagg on all my devices that take it.

Yeah after two days it is so much better now!
I was scratching my head as I don't see any orange colour on the screen protector, but now I just realised you referring to those little bumps (aka orange peel). Yeah at first, it bugs me, but it grown onto me now.

I hate ZAGG. They look good for about a week then they start collecting lint around the edges and it also stretches out of place.

then send it back you get a huge warranty. I have had them on all my phones and never had them peel off. They take ages to put on but really worth it

I always found BSE to be much better and cheaper. the orange peel affect of the zagg bothers me. IMO power support has everyone beat, but they only make products for apple

I had the Zagg on my Vibrant and i now have one on the Nexus. The one on the Vibrant had annoying orange peel but this one seems better. Im good at installing them though. One thing that really annoys me now though is they watermark the shield in the lower right corner with "ZAGG". But you are right about power support. Thats all i buy for my wifes iphones. She hates the Zagg anyway LOL.
This is a strange question, but do you still have the packaging for the screen? I wanna know what the UPC number is so I can see if any local stores around me have this bad boy

Screen protector

I bought 5pcs for about $3 off of ebay which is a great deal but it looks like they were cut wrong because it doesnt line up great.
Here is the link:

I really dont want to pay $18 for a single one, like Steinheil.
My question is, have any of you bought cheap ones that lines up perfect with the phone and corners?
As with many things you get what you pay for.
I have the Skinomi which one of the early ones available and its been ok:
http://www.skinomi.com/
The more I use them the more I recommend the wet apply one as they seem to have less bubble and last longer. For people who are worried just go to best buy or a mall stand and have someone who installs them all day install it.
Most of the newer screen protectors don't line up directly to the edge if thats what your referring to. They save space on the edges so that it doesn't peel off as easy and a lot of new cases cover the edges to. Plus they save money by using less material. I have the ones from verizon and they dont go edge to edge. I even believe that the new Zagg's are being cut the same way.

I actually hate the ones that uses water to install, such as invisiShield. They are not as slippery as the ones that stick on there.
Is skinomi requires water to install?

No I am definitely not looking for a perfect fit but the ones I bought does not line up straight, from top corner to bottom corner. I can buy verizon protectors $9 for 3pcs. So, if they dont line up crooked I am fine.
i bought this http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...BX5A/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1324879125&sr=8-6
i think it's worth it since i started using that brand since my first android, 2 yrs ago. it's really tough and durability is super good.
The reason why the nexus doesn't have a dry install that doesn't extend to the edge because our screens are slightly curved so they will create bubbles at the top and bottom of the screen. The wet screens protector will fit better because they are more bendable
I use a brand called terrapin on my GN. They're cheap on eBay but they're made from very hard plastic. They go right to the edges of the screen and fit really well with cut outs in the right place for the speaker, camera and various sensors.
The quality of these protectors is brilliant, no affect on screen quality at all and there's no rainbow effect or orange peel. There's a few light scratches I can see on the screen protector when bright lights are shone on the unlit screen but as soon as you wake the screen up you can't see them at all.

I would still use a screen protector dust/sand/dirt can get on your fingers and still scratch it plus anything gets in the case and the cover may scratch it. I am super paranoid about scratches though so it may be just me.
There's a bunch of discussion in the Accessories forum on which screen protector is the best. I vote for Verizon "clear" one.
Great! Ordered them. Hopefully they will turnout better.

Me too. Too paranoid. As much as I would like to use the phone without a screen protector to view s amoled with its glory, I will kick myself in the gonads if I end up scratching it.

In their videos the take a dremel to one and it stops the bit. No way the cheap plastic ones would.
Orange peel is my biggest problem with expensive ones such as invisible shield.
XO skins looks pretty legit. I wish I had seen it before I purchased the one I posted earlier
If they are not too too expensive I might pick that up too, as a back up.

Packaging:
Minimalist cardboard packaging printed with Soy ink (as stated on the package). Very easy to open with the pull tab on the back. Inside is a cardboard flap that protects the screen protector and included cleaning cloth. As for that cloth...what a joke! It's a nice material but it's roughly the size of 50 cent piece or silver dollar. It's so small it's tough to keep two fingers on it without letting them touch the screen as you're trying to clean it. Once I seen that cleaning cloth I though "oh boy, what did I get myself in to?"
Installation:
Before proceeding with the install I did a dry fit to see how it lines up to get an idea of how it was going to fit. It covers the whole face of the phone all the way to the edge. The cut outs are precise and form fitting and there are two "cutouts" for the capacitive buttons as well. The fact that this protector is able to be removed and replaced at will, guarantees a bubble free installation, took alot of the stress out of the procedure. You don't have to worry about how or where you hold it for fear of getting finger prints on the backside of it since it's the same color as the phone except for where it covers the screen. Simply peel off the protective sheet, line it up at the top with the protector slightly bent in the middle so once it's lined up you can roll it down into place. Once it's in place, use the cleaning cloth to rub all around the colored portion to ensure a good adhesion.
Final Thoughts:
It looks like you don't have a screen protector on it at first glance. If you have a white phone you're well aware of the light bleed around the capacitive buttons, this fixes that. Install took all of 20 seconds and resulted in no dust or bubbles under it. The reason it guarantees no bubbles is because there is no adhesive or other adhering properties on the area that covers the screen. The "adhesive" is only on the colored area. The protector adheres nicely to the phone including the beveled areas of the screen but beware when using this with a case. I have an Incipio Silicrylic Dual Pro and because the silicone sleeve barely wraps around the edge of the face of the phone, when you press the volume or lock button it pushes the sleeve against he side of the protector and lifts it I have a Fosmon S style TPU case and checked it out to see how far it's edges wrap around the face of the phone and it looked like it wrapped over it more, but because it's such a tight fit I decided to remove the back cover of the phone before installing it and that worked out perfectly! The phone is nice and snug and it doesn't cause the protector to lift when pressing the buttons since it actually overlaps the protector instead of butting up against it's side.
As for clarity....well, this is an AG protector which stands for anti-glare so i'm sure you all know what that means. The standard grainy effect is there, although it's not as bad as most, and does take away some of the clarity of the screen. It's mostly noticeable on light backgrounds but if you're looking at it close enough you can see it no matter what. One thing that worried me is that there would be an obvious sign that the protector is not adhered to the screen itself...there's not. The protector is nice and smooth to swipe across and even the "openings" over the capacitive buttons are smooth, that's because they aren't actually openings it's just that they aren't colored.
Overall the product is good but it degrades the display quality and limits the cases you can use with it. But it also covers the whole screen, is washable and reuseable, eliminates the light bleed around the capacitive buttons, significantly reduces glare and fingerprints, ensures no bubbles and makes installation a breeze. Only 2 negatives, but they are big deals to alot of us so weight the pros and cons before you go give up your $25 for it
thanks for the great review.
My last hope for this protector is that it plays nicely with the Seidio Surface Garnet Red case I just ordered for it
Good review but I returned mine. I wasn't as good as I hoped for personally. I used it for a good week and a half.

I don't blame you. I had issues with it letting dust between the protector and the screen. So I returned it. Plus it wouldn't work with any case that I bought. Really its to bad because I loved it at first!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it plays nicely with the new case cause like you I really like this thing...the degredation is there but it's not so significant that I couldn't deal with it given all the other benefits of it.
Thanks guys for the kind words on the review, I try to be as thorough as possible to help those on the fence try to make their decision.
WTF are they thinking not making a clear one? Such potential!!
Hopefully the X gear one has beveled edges.
Thanks for posting it!

I've had my eye on that tempered glass protector you posted as well, somebody posted it a few weeks back. Can't wait to hear some reviews on it once people get their hands on it for the GS3.

It doesn't fit with the seidio case. I have the surface case in black. When you slip the case on with the protector on, it squeezes the edges of the screen protector together causing one edge to lift making a slight bubble. I couldn't stand the anti glare so I ended up returning the screen protector. Made the screen look blurry. The screen looks 10x better without it. Also wasn't worth $25 to me. It did feel nice but can't say it looked nice though.
You didn't go wrong with the seidio case though. It's a nice case. I've been using it for the past 2 weeks.

What I meant was I hope it has curved edges like the gs3. I think they mean beveled edges as in not sharp edges so the don't get caught on anything

I like the idea of this as a screen protector, but like others have mentioned with their cases, it does not fit properly with the body glove case. Hopefully I can return it, as I really like the feel of the Body Glove.

Yeah, with someone confirming it doesn't play nicely with the Seidio Surface case, mine is going back too
I have a question. How thick is this protector? The Xgear version is only .4mm thick. That's about half the thickness of a human fingernail!! I was worried about it interfering with the home button but it should be fine considering how thin it is!
