FFC issues (ICS and GB) - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Attached is a picture taken with the stock CCM7 FFC. Any other camera app produces the same results on GB and ICS, on multiple ROMS.
I've done all kinds of data clears and resolution changes, with no better results. Any ideas?

did you do a full wipe before flashing ROM. I've been on ICS ROMs for a couple months with no issues. What build ICS ROMS are you installing?

Omg! Your phone must be the one! It is seeing in the matrix code. Lol
Maybe try another camera app to rule out hardware failure.

For ICS I use Aeroevan's builds of CM9 and for GB I use CCM7.2. I always do full wipes when installing....things just work better(usually). Camera 360 and Angel Camera also give this same result.

My guess would be a hardware problem then. Does it happen on sense rooms too?
Sent from my ICS Dinc2

Sadly, yes....think this is enough to warrant a replacement if I flash back to stock? Would be convenient since my digitizer has a crack in it.

yep.

Nice. Its just going to be a pain to deal with the new rooting methods. I was fortunate enough to be able to root on 2.3.3.

Just got off the phone with VZW and I was informed that they will not be replacing hardware all be cause of a minor crack (less than a quarter inch in length) in the digitizer next to the Home button. They want me to file an insurance claim! IMO, damage to the phone or not, if the hardware is faulty and under warranty it should be replaced at no charge to the customer. Definitely leaving VZW asap.

You can't really hold that against VZW. Any phone warranty I have ever seen is voided by physical damage which makes sense. Including any of those indestructible phones. If there is physical damage then there's typically a good chance that its related to the hardware/software issues.
If you had a TV and an HDMI port went out then you dropped it and cracked the screen just a little in the corner do you really think BestBuy would take it back?
There's plenty of good reasons to leave VZW but this isn't one of them.
Sent from my ICS Dinc2

Yeah....my last post was just an angry rant pretty much BC I know for a fact the small crack didn't lead to the camera issues. The damage happened about three months ago and the ffc stopped working on Friday. In the time between the phone operated smoothly and without hiccup.
Just sucks I'm stuck with technically a faulty device. Unless someone here at xda has a DInc2 for sale at a reasonable price.

Yeah I know it sucks. Unfortunately there are people that would take advantage if they did exchanges in that situation and get their phone covered under warranty when it really wasn't a defect which would lead to us all paying even more than we already do monthly. Hopefully you can find a replacement for cheap!

Battery Dropping way way too fast? One more thing to check!

This tip is not rom specific and specifically for people where battery is dropping super duper fast on any rom. I'm talking like a percent every few seconds or so. This happened to me and I tried all the stuff I had read about like, dimming display, shutting off sync, disabling led's, disabling sounds, disabling haptic etc...
With all the apps that are normally discussed for sharing and vieweing battery life, there wasn't an app that was able to show me my current cpu usage level (that I knew about). I found a free one by searching: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eolwral.osmonitor&hl=en
and the second I launched it I saw, unfortunately, that ChompSMS (my go to program for years) was the culprit. Apparently it didn't play nice for whatever reason on my first CM9 Beta1 fresh install.
I uninstalled it and cpu went back to normal etc... now I'm on GoSMS... boo : )
Anyways, hope this helps someone who has the uber mega battery drainage and doesn't know why as I was stumped for a while until I used that app.
If youve been in possession of the phone for more that 8months the best thing to do is buy a new battery for the phone.

Agreed. Had my E4GT for a year now and my stock 1800mah battery just popped a couple of days ago. I think it had been going south for the past few months, cuz right now I'm using my old OG Epic's 1500mah battery and the battery life is better than ever! Dunno why the OG Epic's battery is working so well (considering it's a year older and been passed around the family a few times) but hopefully, my replacement 1800mah will be even better whenever it gets here...

I've had my E4GT for just about a year. In the past month I've noticed some odd behavior work apps and the radios. Random reboots, LOS, sluggish response and other weirdness. The first thumb was snapped early August, the second 2 just this past weekend.

I picked up an Anker 1800mHa battery + charger from Amazon.com and I'm very happy with it. The new battery seems slightly better than my OEM, but I don't think by much. Anyway, I picked up the Anker specifically identified for the E4GT for around $10 (and charger for $10). There are combo deals for other phones that I think are 100% compatible with the E4GT, but I didn't risk it. If you can be confident in what's compatible, you should be able to get 2 batteries + charger for $20.
Please don't rub my nose in it if you get that deal.

...However, due to the nature of the Inc2's charging port (namely that it sucks), it is totally believable that it broke again.

Have you tried a different cable? Some cables are made to only supply power, sometimes cables just fail because of cats and their diabolical ways.

Still alive. I'll report back on how my nephew does on replacing the cracked screen. He is mechanical, but i think i might be supervising the fix. It was pretty cheap to get the parts $17.95 on amazon for the screen + digitizer, t5 & t6 torc screw & pry tool, & adhesive tape. I thought that was pretty cheap.
Finally got the parts needed for a USB repair on one of my Inc2s! seems like a common issue on Inc2 after x amount of time.

Intentionally break phone

Has anybody intentionally destroyed their phone to get a refurbished one with little time left on their warranty? I want to know if there is a way I can successfully get a replacement from Sprint. My screen is in pretty rough shape, and based on what I've read, they won't replace it soley on a broken screen. (no digitizer damage) I know it's a bit underhanded, but I'm sure as hell not spending $270 on a screen replacement! Thanks in advance!

The screen replacement is only like 178.50 with next day shipping there and back from samsung. And how are you almost out of warranty when the phone hasnt even been available for a year and you have a 1 year mfg warranty.

Sprint won't help you at all since it sounds like you don't have TEP(they don't help anyway). And Samsung only covers manufacture defects and hardware defects. If the phone has physical damage then your warranty is voided with them

Samsung repairs busted screens under warrant its just not free, but it is about half the cost it would be out of warranty. Its not a bad deal since they replace the entire glass/digitzer/lcd assembly and then reinstate your warranty afterwards:thumbup: and its next day shipping there and back so you're only without your device for 3-5 days max. Typical turn around is 3 days, day you ship, day they receive, day they ship back. However if they are backed up sometimes they have it in their possession for a couple days while they do the repairs

I'm an old iPhone user and I know with the iPhone if you cracked your screen, you could buy a replacement kit and spend no more than $50 bucks or so. Is there no replacement screens for the Galaxy S3?
There are, but the glass is fused to the display, making it extremely difficult to replace just the glass.

Too good to be true? We'll see.

So I have a plan to water-proof my GS3 with ZERO bulk (okay maybe like 1%)
I'm sure if you've Googled anything having to do with waterproofing your GS3, you've seen this: http://www.iottie.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=1010&ProductType=320
In theory, it seems like a great idea. Until you realize that you have no way to charge your phone or plug in earbuds.
A couple weeks after I saw that product, I came across this article: http://m.webosnation.com/galaxy-s3-gets-cleanest-touchstone-mod-yet
Now if you see where I'm going with this, you're probably thinking "Well that solves the charging problem, but what about the headphone jack?"
After about 10 minutes of research I found this: http://www.jabra.com/products/bluetooth/jabra_clipper/jabra_clipper
Unfortunately this blows the $80 budget of a waterproof case.
So instead, I just found a refurbished pair of blue tooth headphones for $35 on ebay. (I bought these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004B...edirect=true&ref_=as_li_ss_tl&tag=chescifi-20)
So the idea is to combine these products (Jabra clipper is optional) and have a waterproofed phone. Is this idea too good to be true? I have ordered all of the items. I will post a video showing my results when I have received the items.

Although it says that it isn't meant to be permanent, it implies that that is only because it does not allow charging. Either way, I've bought the items. My point of view is that if the waterproofing isn't successful, at least I have some badass accessories now right?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
It says reusable. That means they intend you take it off sometime. The 5 sealing tapes are probably for wear and tear leaks but maybe they could be used for "panels" to cover those holes but I really think this is a temporary skin for if you're going out in a wet environment.
hows it working for you?
So far, the "case" itself is literally the only part of this experiment that has not shipped yet. Please be patient for a video on my results. I'm going to try to go as long as I can with one package worth of material. I'd say I can make it last 1-2 months. I don't plan on much submersion except maybe for a quick test.

The idea seems great, but it would worry me a bit. Not to mention the fact that devices that were not built to be waterproof can get water trapped in non air tight areas. At CES they had a liquipelled Tab 2 that got water trapped between the glass and the display. Not fun. This technology is used more for accidental exposure to moisture.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
He says he can take pics underwater and still say that you think it's not a good idea bc a tablet(that isn't built like a phone) got water under the screen... That means tablet wasn't sealed properly no?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Technology that was not designed to be waterproof may not play nice with that. I'm not saying that nothing will work with it, I'm just saying that it may not be the best idea in all cases.

I'll figure out an alternative soon.
Not sure this is something I'd ever consider doing. However, it's sure going to be interesting to see how it works.
Ugh. I have not made a video for this to this day. This is a dead thread and I apologize. My plan worked to an extent. It stayed waterproof and charged normally, but was cumbersome to use because of the odd shrink-wrap feel of the case.

Warranty exchange question.

Hello I have recently been having issues with my cell phone call quality and have been wanting to call tmobile, in regards to get it exchanged as I have the warranty still available.
However I have a small hairline cracked on the right bottom part of the phone. How much will the fee be for that from tmobile?
Picture to follow shortly

I wouldn't bother, not trying to put your hopes down but I also jad a hairline crack at the bottom corner of my phone, under the back key. Then I sent to samsung for repair, but told them of the crack befoee and they said it'd be fine since its so small. But after they had it for 9 days and then claimed phone couldn't be repaired until crack is fixed which also puts it out of warranty and tried charging me $180 just for the screen. Additional repair fees would've been added later. So to make it short I probably wouldnt try if I were you unless if your going through tmobile directly.

Also its cheaper to pay the out of warranty fee through tmobile than to use insurance...or it used to be anyway.
