My signal suddenly disconnected???? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

OK, so I was gonna go to this place, and then I realized that my GNex had no signal! No whatsoever. It did spike up to full for like 30 seconds and got no signal again... Why does it do that? I did drop my phone before I noticed it, but when I dropped it, it still had full service, so I don't think that's it. I also flashed from yakjuux to takju (including radio and bootloader) but I did that few days ago and had no problem until today.
Since, it is still disconnected, I went to settings-mobile networks-available networks and then clicked Koodo (My carrier), then the message popped up saying "Cannot connect to this network right now. Please try again later." and now, I have this notification saying "Selected network (Koodo) is unavailable"
Does this mean that my carrier's sevice is off right now? Or does this mean that my phone is broken? Or does this mean that my SIM card is broken? I need answer ASAP!

Can anyone please help me? I really need to call and text people

The same thing happened to me yesterday around 17:30. I have a GSM Galaxy Nexus. I'm on T-Mobile's monthly 4g prepaid plan, so I thought the coverage was just spotty. When I got home the next day I noticed it was still like it. I called T-mobile to ask if there was a service disruption, and the rep informed me that there was not, but to bring it in. Indeed the rep himself was using a GSM Galaxy Nexus, and he had 4 bars. He even changed my sim and it still wouldn't pick up a signal. It's either the 4.1 update, which he had also, or we have bad radios.

Radio hardware or software? If software, can you give me link to the better radio? If hardware... I guess I gotta ask the seller to give me the receipt so I can tell Sammy... This is second time my GNEX breaking... I am getting too impatient...

Should use another phone to call your carrier and see whatsup.
How have you modified your phone? If you're stock, then its not your software. There's nothing in the 4.1 update or any of that that's known to be a bug with network connections.
Also, have you tried completely doing a factory reset and/or some airplane mode toggles or reboots?

Highly doubt that a radio flash can fix this. Sounds like a tower/network issue or something you changed in your phone's settings. Sporadic network outages DO happen.

I can guarantee you that it's not tower problem cuz my dad's Nexus S handles Koodo SIM just fine. If you are saying the truth... I am officially screwed since I got no receipt for the GNEX. I did email the seller of this GNEX if he can help me, but he didn't reply yet. Of course, that was few minutes ago and he probably didn't even check his email. I didn't change anything that can disrupt my cell connection. Also I am running stock and I did factory reset and the problem still occurs... Do you think this is because I dropped my phone?

Very likely could be the issue. Surely the seller isn't going to help you out if you dropped your phone... I'd make sure all of the pins in the SIM tray are working etc and its not damaged. That's easy to see at least.
Unless you can confirm your SIM is working fine in another phone, I'd still call to see if that SIM's account is all in order and active.

I dunno... The seller was really nice enough to help me... I bought this from the guy, not the store btw... After he first helped me, when he got my phone back, he didn't give me the receipt. So I'm just hoping to God that he'll help me... Also IF sim tray or anything is damaged... How can you know? Sorry for the nooby question but it doesn't look very damaged... Also when I go to service property setting and click search for service, Koodo does show up but when I try to connect to it, it doesn't connect...

Just look at the tray and see if the pins are damaged or bent.
If somethings "broken", its likely something broken internal from when you dropped it.
Did you take the SIM out and use it in another phone to confirm 100% that your account/SIM is working properly? This is just part of troubleshooting... super easy and quick way to eliminate one potential problem.

So you put your SIM in his phone and it worked just fine? Okay so that means its your phones hardware.

Depends on the damage. It might be easy as bending some prongs, might be as much work as replacing the SIM tray. Unless it dropped at a really weird angle though, I doubt the SIM tray got damaged... the reason I recommend it is its the easiest thing to check without disassembling the phone. Everything else inside is much much harder to diagnose.
Like I've said over and over, if you've done a factory reset (and are on stock firmware) / reboots and the problem persists, its not a firmware/software issue. Also, if your SIM works fine, then likely you severely damaged something inside the device when you dropped it.

Dammit.... I heard that fixing hardware related stuff is very expensive... Hopefully it's only some part of the phone that you can replace that is damaged, not something that I need to replace motherboard for... Thank you so much for your efforts... I guess if it's not sim tray problem, I am officially screwed and probably have to put down over 100bucks...

I concur on going to T-Mobile and getting a new sim card for free.
In the least it sounds like your card works partially, so why not get a new fully functional one...
I had the EXACT same thing happen to me.
Call tmobile and have them send you a replacement phone--it was the only thing that worked.
(mine happened within a day of sim unlocking my phone...no clue if there was a connection).
tmobile WILL replace your phone, even if you bought it on craigslist. When the guy tells you 'no', tell them you would like to speak with someone about canceling your account.
Tell that person your story--how you are a good customer, how this phone was working, doesn't work now, etc...
Tell them that AT&T (true) will replace a phone you bought on craigslist, as long as it was an ATT phone and still under warranty.
This worked for me.
Worst case, you can send it back to samsung (but they won't send you a replacement...you have to send it in)
Good luck!

No signal after diassembly

I've disassembled my p930 yesterday to change the broken screen, but I'm not getting any signal after I reassembled it.
I thought maybe factory reset or re-flashing would solve it but that didn't work, and I've tried putting the antenna cable in and out like ten times.
It won't connect AT ALL to my network operator. It doesn't even detect any networks.
WiFi&bluetooth and everything else works.
Any ideas?
Have you tried flashing a rom that flashes all new baseband firmware etc? Like the ICS leak? Maybe all that is reset when antenna is unplugged. Just an idea. Also sure you have already but checking all connections and solder points on the hardware is where I would start.

I know it sounds odd, but I dropped my nitro a couple months ago on the sidewalk, and quite literally the only thing that broke was the sim card. I couldn't believe it, but sure enough they checked it at the at&t store and I had to replace it.

I had to get a new phone because flashing nor changing the antenna could solve the problem...

Don't know, but, if the person has not deleted your account from the phone you could send an email to yourself and either offer a reward for the return and tell him you are about to lock it and make it unusable.
You can also play store on your computer and install Wheres My Droid and hope he puts your sim back in for a few minutes!
Then on someone other mobile phone send your phone a txt of
WMD GPS
it will send back the location
See the website for other comands you can send to it.
Can't hurt to try and hope he puts the sim back in.
Definitely install it on your phone if you get it back, or your next phone.
It can send you the new number if they change the sim!
Good luck! Hope it works out!

I'm 99.9% sure the answer us no.
They will mark it as stolen in the system.
Your only hope is stated above.

Yes they can but they won't. Have you tried android lost app ? It allows you to find your phone even if you never installed the app before it allows you install the app using your gmail account to your phone and send info to your phone using the web or a different phone.
Anyways go and take a look on androidlost.com for more info.
Good luck

I lost it for 4 week now. They probably already restore it along time ago and start to use it with their own sim card. Can the android lost app still work?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
No, it will not work if your account is no longer on the phone.
I would suggest you call your carrier and ask if they can locate the phone by IMEI + GPS/etc - that's about your only hope (and I don't know if they'd do it, or if they'd block the IMEI, or if they'll only do that if you have insurance, et cetera). Also, 4 weeks is getting a bit late, unfortunately.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they can track it but they just can't give you an address then if something bad happens you sue them lol. Crimes may happen over a phone phone companies won't get involved in that. Also really they don't mind that you have to get another phone meaning most likely paying them.

Agree. When my wife lost her phone I asked carrier about this, and their answer was a straight "Sorry, we can't do that". I wish there's an app out there that tied the IMEI to a GPS tracker that's made available for consumer use, though that in itself can probably cause a different issue altogether.

[Q] low/ no signal on note 2

Hi,
Ok so I had this problem for about 3weeks now... I lose signal in areas I had full signal. I know it's not the simcard cause I got a new one. I know its not the whole network setting thing, I know it's not the rom and I know factory reset wont fix it.
I ordered a couple of new piece flex antenna cord, backhousing case, and antenna and charger board.
I haven't received the flex antenna cord and board, but I'm wondering if this will actually fix the problem I am having...
at the moment, I only have emergency call only. I can't bring the phone to the carrier cause I got it from a 3rd party and unlocked it for my carrier.
What else can I do???
Thanks
Same for me.. I am going to try a new sim card tomorrow

That's not necessarily true. If you take the sim card out and turn off mobile data you can get around them pinging your old phone. I did the same thing with my Verizon Samsung GS4.
