Stuck On Sony Logo Help PLease - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
THis is the first time i am rooting a sony phone(previously used HTC and Samsung and rooted them without issues)
1. Rooted Stock ICS using DoomLord ZergRush Exploit.
2. Installed CWM installer for Xperia and installed clockwork mod
3. flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526717
4. Wifi wasnt working so rebooted to recovery and flashed again.
5. Stuck on sony logo
have tried to get into CWM by holding volume down(number of times) and back button as well...
i understand being stuck on Sony Logo = Bad Kernal.. but i am stock kernel (bootloader locked)
how do i fix this guys... please help.

Just to confirm, are you stuck on Sony logo or Xperia logo?
Tapatalked 2 using my LT18i-ArcKnight

stuck on the Sony Logo

Did you unlock your bootloader and your ment to rapidy tap the volume button down to boot into CWM
and its not a bad kernel, unless a kernel is ment to be used with the ROM
this is what you can do, for unlocked bootloader and rooted phone... Boot into CWM > hit "wipe data / factory reset", "wipe cache partition" and "wipe dalvik cache" <- in advanced settings > now re-flash the ROM (always best to make a backup before doing these things)

Did you follow all the instructions for rooting and installing CWM and the ROM to the dot?
Also, did you install the ROM via CWM or Flashtool?
---------- Post added at 06:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:24 AM ----------
Are you by any chance trying to switch on your phone while charging? Installing the CWM via the CWM Auto Installer causes the phone to go into a bootloop if you try to charge it while it is switched off or restart it while it is charging.

For rooting, just did what it had on the ZergRush instructions, CWM install was quite easy as well with the flick of a finger..
Flashed rom via CWM, It did boot ok the first time, but second time when i reflashed came this issue.
Only thing different between my first install and second is, I didnt format system partition on my second install? but i did do a full wipe
I did have it plugged in via usb till it got bricked, removed it just then and pressing vol key to try and get it into recovery.

Read the second part of my previous post. Are you trying to boot while charging?

Hey guys still messing with my phone here, managed to download an ftf file and flashed the default ics on it..
thanks for the help.... it has booted now
are any instructions on how to root and get cwm so i dont screw up this time over again..

Did you flash ICS 4.0.4? As you may already know, the rooting method for locked bootloaders depends on the build version in Sony's case.

Thank you again..
I've tried downgrading the kernel into .431 firmware (which is compatible to the theme that I tried)

What I did is that..
1. tried to flash a theme for .431 firmware

Hi thank you..
I just did the flashing
But still, boot loops ..
I really don't know the problem :'(
Here is what I did to install that theme..
● Copy the .zip to your sdcard
● Boot into CMW
● MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP
● Did you make a nandroid backup?
● If not, go away from this thread immediately!
● Flash the .zip
● Clear Dalvik Cache
● Reboot
● For wallpaper, Xperia S lockscreen, deodex/supercharge/LED fix check post #3.
● Enjoy!!!
i really don't know if that clearing that Dalvik Cache caused the problem..
I really don't know
pls help ..
Did you even read the previous posts? These say everything how to fix your phone.
And if you got bootloop, doing it the same way will not make it any better, it will just result the same - bootloop!

dont use CWM v5. reflash to stock firmware, download 'x-parts' from play, and istall cwm with that app and see what happens
Hi (my first post at xda!),
I once had a nasty BootLoop like you have. actually, even worse - at some stage, the phone didn't start at all - AND usb wasn't responding... worst case scenario lol.
Be advised, this will bring you to clean stock unrooted phone.
- What you need to do, is restore the original rom+kernel (stock), using SEUS ("Sony Ericsson Update Service") software (download it).
- You'll need to connect the phone with a special recovery mode enabled, by plugging the usb cable to it while holding The Other Button (Back button) that gives A GREEN led light (this is NOT Fastboot mode that shows BLUE led light).
- After the phone is connected in that manner, simply follow the instructions in SEUS and let it download and flash the original software.
From here, you'll have a factory-new unrooted stock rom+stock kernel device, but you'll probably manage with re-flashing and restoring your Nandroid afterwards.
- Use this as a last resort, as it's what they call "The long way".
Get back to us with the results.
Mike.

It's not a special recovery mode it's the standard flash mode, but this is basically what you've been advised to do on the last page.

Xperia arc s not booting after flashing custom rom.have i bricked it?

I had rooted and installed HD 3.0.2 custom ROM on my son's Sony xperia arc s successfully and it was working well but the adventurist mind set to work and I wanted to try the jelly droid custom ROM.
I went to recovery mode via x tools and did the factory reset and formatting system.
Then I clicked install zip from SD card.it showed that update installed successfully then after around 15 minutes and no further instruction,I rebooted the phone.seems like I missed some step or something which I am not aware of.
now it only shows the Sony screen.I attempted going to the recovery mode pressing the combo keys volume down and power after taking out the battery but nothing transpired.
have I bricked my phone?
Is there any way I could bring it back to life?
would be obliged if anyone could recommend some steps to try and restart the phone.
thanking in anticipation

Did you flash the correct kernel for your phone? Ultimate HD uses stock kernel while the Jelly Droid should be using a custom kernel. You need to have bootloader unlocked to use a custom kernel. CWM does not work after flashing the update package as X tools installs CWM into /system which you just formatted. To be able to use CWM after changing ROM, use a stock or custom kernel that has CWM pre installed on it.

Thanks for your quick reply.it seems I did not flash any kernel or anything else prior to pressing the install from zip.seems a grave mistake on my part.
now that the phone does not even start up what could I do to recover the phone.
I am a complete novice and would request your good self to kindly suggest remedial measures to go back to the stock ROM or HD 3.0.2.The boot loader I think was unlocked before attempting to root the phone.the phone only shows SONY written on it.no turning off even.having to pull the battery to put of the screen.

To recover your phone, use Flashtool and install stock firmware to your phone with a correct FTF file. You can find the FTF file from the forum, just search.
OR if you have locked bootloader, then you can also use PC Companion to repair your phone.
Sent from LT18i with custom firmware by myself.
Since you have bootloader unlocked, I recommend that you repair your phone using flashtool, since it's a hassle to relock bootloader to use Sony Update Service. After restoring your phone, flash a stock kernel with CWM on it so you can still use CWM after changing ROM. If you want to go back to UHD, Jader recommends LuPuS kernel to use with his ROM.

First of all, calm down , i rarely see arc-s really bricked and not recoverables so ,in this case, the best metod is a thinking mind. Answer my questions.
1° Have you checked your bootloader if it's locked/unlocked or if there is possibility to unlock it ? There are a plenty of guides about it.
2° Please describe how you have installed the rom.
If you have the possibility to reach the recovery , you have to fully format the phone. Factory reset, format system cache and dalvik. Only after that, try to re-flash the rom.

Are you even sure if it's volume up?
Flash mode -> connect phone to PC while holding down back button.
Fastboot mode -> connect phone to PC while holding down menu button.
Enter recovery(if installed) -> hold volume down button when phone boots up.

PC Companion's repair option should work as well, try that one. If you wish to stick to Flashtool, then first make sure you got drivers installed.

Hey iggy I have the same problem, have the same kernel (2.6.32.9) and software and I saw your post to download different kernel, the problem is when I open the link, it's empty (nothing downloads).
So I downloaded the content on the link and it doesn't show in the downloads folder. And I don't even know where to flash it.
Any help would be much appreciated.
you guys can try any kernel with cwm included.
or i saw an method to install cwm via flashtool (manuell). What is the problem btw?
you dont see the blue light or it doesnt open it when you put volume down?
yall can show at xparts (there is standing install cwm) sometimes it doesnt work on the latest version. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840
download the version 5 and install cwm again, if it shows cwm succesfully installed you installed cwm, if it doesnt i can show you guys how to install cwm by another way.
if it is succesfully installed you can reboot and put volume down when the blue light turns on at sony logo or go to xparts again and try boot in cwm.
i hope i helped you guys, if i dont please ask again

This method is for locked bootloader, if you have an unlocked bootloader just flash a kernel with a recovery. Furthermore, this recovery will be gone every time you install a new ROM because this recovery is installed to /system partition which is wiped when you flash a new ROM.

My LT18i with locked bootloader don't get the blue light... I already flashed ftf several times and tried the Sony Companion repair... it don't work. I can Root but can't enter CWM mode.
In the past it worked fine, I already had UHD instaled but after I tried another ROM the problem started after it gets freezed in Sony Logo... I flahsed the original Sony firmware and now I can't enter CWM even after instalation... The blue light never appear... instead the blue light, the screen gets brighter for 1 second.
Do you know any way to get CWM working again?
Already tried the method of this post and the X-Parts... they don't work... at the boot it starts normal system... even If I press BACK button or Volume down...

Xperia Arc Stuck in Loading

Hey guys! Today I rooted my device, installed CWM and installed a ROM onto my Arc device today. It all went fine but when I rebooted after the install the device seems to be stuck at the "Sony" logo. I cant seem to boot it into CWM (tried it couple of times). I'm new to this so does anyone know what the problem might be?
Thanks in advance

I'm kinda new to this and I just did what the guide told me to do , which is the following:
For Locked Bootloaders: Root your phone using this tutorial, than install CWM using this app
Place ROM on SD-Card
Back up user apps and data. (Various apps available, search Google Play. This is a popular one)
Power off phone.
Boot to CWM (Keep pressing the Volume Down key after the Sony logo appears)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Mounts and Storage --> Format /System
Advanced > Wipe Battery Stats
Install zip from SD card > Choose Xperia Ultimate HD
Follow on screen instructions on AROMA.
After Complete Installation untick "reboot" and select reboot in CWM
Give the phone a good full charge, and enjoy your brand new phone!
Okay I suppose you flashed this rom and installed it with aroma installer. And you can't boot into recovery mode when logo appears (by pressing vol down button?)
Argh I had the same problem when using different rom with aroma installer and I couldn't boot in recovery mode. The main problem was not getting into cwm so I had to flash the stock rom (ftf file) back on arc using flashtool and I rooted the phone and unlocked BL again. Then I restored the previous backed up rom.
Is there any particular reason to have locked BL? You can do it with flashtool.
I don't know what the problem would be since I don't have enough experience with aroma installers, I just know the basics of flashing, installing and I can solve problems on my own arc when I f*** up something but I'm a bit confused here so you better wait for someone who has more brains than I do.

I don't know what the problem would be since I don't have enough experience with aroma installers, I just know the basics of flashing, installing and I can solve problems on my own arc when I f*** up something but I'm a bit confused here so you better wait for someone who has more brains than I do.

I just want to put my standard rom on there atm, can you link me to something that tells me how to do that?
Ok, so here's thread with stock, custom roms, kernels etc. here find the stock rom and choose version (lt15i or lt18i depends on which phone you have and where you're from) and download the ftf file.
Then go to this link where you'll get direct instructions on how to flash. It's really not that complicated. Just open flashtool, choose flashmode and browse for the ftf file, then flash it.
Good luck.
If you wish us to help you, at least tell which ROM you installed.
For a locked bootloader, flash the original TFT through Flashtool.
Root.
Install CWM.
Reflash ROM.
If your bootloader is unlocked, just flash a kernel with CWM included.
Mount your SD Card.
Put the ROM on it.
Flash.
Hope I helped you !
Cheers.

Well I just bricked my wifes phone..Help a dead husband?

Hey guys. I had a ZL C6506 that was on 4.2.2. I succesfully rooted it and flashed Dual Recovery. I then tried to flash Utimateblack XZL rom (4.4.2). The instructions were to factory reset, wipe caches and then flash rom. Then flash a kernel (stripped kernel) with flashtool. I did everything to a tee and then it said just reboot and let rom settle. Upon reboot I get to the sony logo (with the backlit black screen) then the Sony logo goes away and this is where im stuck!
I can no longer get into recovery. I've tried hitting the reset button on the back and same thing. I CAN get into fastboot mode. I am wondering what I should flash to correct my situation as well as the steps to do so as i am a huge noob that was trying to impress my wife with my "hacking" skills. Any help would be super appreciated and I even don't mind donating if i actually manage to get it back to life!
Download the stock firmware. I recommend the 4.2.2 jellybean. Then download the flashtool and install it on your pc. Then connect your ZL in recovery mode and flash the firmware. Try it

Exchange phones. I did likewise, and now she has my XZ, while I recovered the ZL and its now my phone.....

Its the problem with bootloader unlocking, if you have TA backup, relock your bootloader completely, and then flash any stock firmware, before you relock your bootloader, follow few steps, the problem arises because of busybox, dual recovery have specified busybox, remove busybox using this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ybox-uninstaller-v1-0-remove-busybox-t1853419
, then remove dual recovery completly by flashing stock android 4.2.2 firmware for xperia zl, then completly relock your bootloader using flashtools and by restoring your TA backup, then you have completly branded xperia zl but not working one, then you can flash any stock firmware using flashtools, but for convinience you should repair your phone using sony pc companion, as pepair option in sony pc companion works with locked bootloader and unrooted phones, first choose repair option on sony pc companion, then connect your phone on flashmode, it must recognize your phone, but if it cant then you manually choose your phones model in the list, then it will download the latest firmware for your cell, and install the SUS files !
rply me if I had helped you !
