Unable to install SE Backup and Restore - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I rooted my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc which was on ICS OS. Before rooting I used the SE Back and Restore application to take my backup. After the root was completed, I copied the apk file for the same from my PC to the root SD folder (also tried updating the build.prop file and deskclock.apk as was mentioned in some other forum).
Now when I try to install the backup and restore apk file, it just doesnot install. Screenshot attached. I really need help in restoring all my data.

Unfortunately it doesn't work on ICS.

Flash back to v2.3 Gingerbread, restore all your data, root, install CWM, run a Nandroid backup.
Upgrade to ICS, restore.
Or use third party programs:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync

If you have root install titanium backup this will back up and restore from a back up.
This feature is available in pro version not sure if available in free version.

You will have to find an Xperia Phone running Stock 2.3 firmware.
Then you can use your backup and restore the contacts to the phone.
Sync the contacts with Google and Voila!
Let me know if it works!!

Changing roms l without losing data.

Can anyone tell me how to upgrade to gingervillan from the defrost 6.1 rom without losing my data and settings? Do I do a nandroid or titanium backup? I'm kinda new to the rooting scene.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You will lose your settings as you are flashing a new Rom.
1. To keep apps: titanium backup (backup apps + data)
2. If you want to keep other data such as messages etc: my backup pro (this can backup your apps too but rather use titanium for apps)

backup files are on ur microsd , nand backup should be in clockworkmod folder (if u're using clockworkmod recovery) , as for apps backed up by titanium they are in the titanium folder
when u do a wipe and flash a new ROM,just install titanium again and restore the apps u want.

Actually settings can be saved, too (Homescreen, Icons, widgets, Messages, WiFi etc. ) with Titanium backup.
you should also ofcourse do a NANDbackup if you ever want to go back to your old rom. when you restore a NANDbackup everything will look the same as before the rom change.

First android phone, Note 2, first root

Hey there, this is my first android phone and well,,, I do not fully understand the meaning of root. I do want to delete some of my stock apps and what not so i rooted my device from a tutorial, but I don't know where to go from here. I looked at a lot of forums on roms and backup and what not, but I just do not understand any of these technicalities, but really want too.
Can someone tell me how to delete and my stock apps and how to customize my phone?
Thank you!
Download and install the paid version of titanium backup, you can use this app to freeze all the app that you want to delete and backup all current apps. Then you can download and install a custom launcher from the market.
Check out the custom ROMS in the development thread. Always make a Nandroid backup before customizing anything and backup your efs folder in case you loose your IMEI number somewhere in the flashing process.

I'll purchase the titanium back up.
How do I make this Nandroid back up? And how do I back up my efs folder?

Titanium requires root. Helium doesn't, but you need to install some drivers on your pc and connect the phone to the pc (just to initialize the first time or every time you reboot) if you want to backup without rooting. (dunno why he doesn't want to root, root allergies?). Or he could just use the Sony Backup&Restore app. There's been some fuss about it not working, but from what I can see I can backup data of system apps just fine. Not Play Store apps, but most keep their data on the SD and you can find what apps you had installed in the Play Store.

There's threads with ICS ftf files in the General section. I don't need to hold your hand do I? Thorough steps: backup your data, open flashtool (read a guide on how to use flashtool, it pretty much explains itself though), flash the ftf that you download (oh and wipe data if you switch Android versions), reboot your phone, restore your backup.
where can i find recovery image to boot xperia s in recovery mode and kernel for stock Jellybean???

[Q] Back up & restore app - now works different

Just tried to back up my files using this app, which I've done many times on the ICS firmware, however the version on the new JB update is different and states that only system apps will be backed up, but apps with downloaded data will not, so literally all the apps on the phone. Before this wasn't an issue and it backed up everything, all apps.
can anyone help/explain how to solve this?
seems normal for me, can backup all downloaded stuff too, if this (as per image attached), mine .200, unlocked BL, rooted.

Try with Sd card or use ICS backup restore app

You'll have to backup to a USB drive via OTG, then you can backup media files and downloaded apps with data.

Yep realised this, which is strange because it never used to be like that.
I downloaded the old app from ICS and it installs and works fine!
You can install old backup and restore app
