New Voice Search Question - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

I am loving the new Siri-like voice search, but it does not work to play local files. Is there a way to say "Play XXX by XXXXXX" and it search your locally available music and play it? I have used "Listen To" for years but on my Cell there is always a data connection. This is a VERY annoying fact if there is no work-around. It shouldn't need the internet to search my android music library.

Pictures not showing in Google Voices search

Picture cards (from wikipedia) are not showing in Google voice search. Is there any way to fix it??? Or are there any settings that i'm missing out on? And i'm currently outside US so can it be the reason?
Unfortunately you are right, in your setting, set it to search on google.com, (Google now, settings, privacy and accounts, tick the box), then you will get pictures. This used to break local searches, but they seem ok now =]

"Listen to" voice action not working anymore

Yesterday I was trying to showoff the features of our phone to a friend and decided to use the listen to command, but it didn't launch a song it just did a google search.
I have my langauge set to English (US). I cleared the Google Search application data.
Other voice actions work, likes "send text", "navigate to", "call", pizza, "how old is Barak Obama". For some reason "Listen to" just does a google search.
Anybody else experiencing this?
There was an update to the Google search app but that still hasn't fixed it
Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda app-developers app
I've been noticing this, too. It seems that "listen to <band>" works, but "listen to <song or album>" doesn't. Annoying.

[Q] How to save & stream music from the cloud? [Help]

This may be a ridiculous question to some, but for the life of me I can't figure out how you can save music using cloud services & then stream it using the stock Google music player. I'm trying to make some space on my Galaxy Nexus since I have a lot of music, so I saved my music to Google Drive but the only way I can play these files is through the Google Drive app itself.. So when I exit, stops playing.. I'm convinced I'm obviously missing something, so any help would be much appreciated.
Hi,
You need to upload your music to Google Play Music (https://play.google.com/music/).
Go to the website, log in with your Google account. You will need to download the Google Music Manager softwarre on your computer. Using it you can upload up to 20000 songs to your Google Play Music Account. Once you are done with that, you can use the web link mentioned above to access your music on the internet from any computer. Alternatively, you can use the Google Play Music app on your GNex to sync/download/stream music from your Google Music account.
I have been doing this for ever now and works perfectly (except for the slow 3G connection in my country).

Google Play Music Question?

I am thinking to use the stock Google Play Music to play MP3 I have locally.
I don't want to use streaming services like Spotify or Saavn (or I don't want to subscribe to Google Play Music Subscription too)
How well does this Play Music handle local MP3? Also, It says I can upload 50,000 MP3s to my online storage for free.
It is very confusing because I had a Moto Phone before and my some of locally stored MP3s refused to play and it said 'Online connection required to play this song' even though it was my own local MP3 file.
I refuse to move to 3rd party apps.
Can someone elaborate how to efficiently work with MP3 files locally on Play Music without a subscription service?

It plays local mp3 files stored on your device just fine, when you launch the music player, just press the X in the top left or say that you dont want to subscribe and after that you will see all your music you have on your phone.

Strange Google assistant issue with YouTube music

I almost going crazy here, but if anyone here is using Google assistant and YouTube music on a note 10 can someone confirm if you experience this behaviour.
I use the band muse as an example.
Firstly make sure YouTube music is the default music provider for Google assistant.
While the phone is unlocked ask "hey Google, play muse" and Google assistant try to play in Google music, not YouTube music.
Then try to lock the phone and say the exactly same thing, and it works and play in YouTube music.
Anyone have any idea how this can happen that Google assistant works when the phone is locked or on lock screen, but when unlocked it does not respect the provider.
Tried with Spotify too and same issue
Update: it's a bug, but to solve it, go into Google music and deauthorize all phones, then uninstall Google music. You need to deauthorize the phones before uninstall or Google assistant want to reinstall Google music
i also have same issue. it doesn't hear me sometime .
i can't using it when screen is locked.
