[Q] Cannot install Miui port. - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719746
Original Thread.
For those that want information I've a GSM model and I flashed this upon
.58 Enhanced v2
-Firstly Flash DooMLoRDs ICS Beta Kernel via fastboot OK!
-Boot the phone into recovery OK!
-Perform a Factory Reset OK!
-Wipe cache and dalvik-cache OK!
-Flash the Zip from SD Card in recovery OK
-REBOOT and Enjoy! - Stuck On Kernel Screen / DoomLord Kernel ICS Beta
I'm unsure what to do, all the other roms seem to work well for me.
This rom is built based on KA14 Test Play which does not work for me either, and Cyanogen 9 RC2 is sluggish at games at least for me.
Cyanogen 7 is slow on the menu and all apps always stay in memory.
I just want to add this rom to my collection I.E I make a backup of each Rom and Kernel so I can switch without using a laptop.

Hi , what was your rom before trying to install miui?

It seems so I had two recoveries at that point of which one being the leftover and which is terminated upon forst boot and one in the IcsBeta Kernel. What have I done is used the leftover CWM and that was the error. Anyway I found out this by accident when trying to enter flashmode and I didn't realise the kernel booted. I've flashed this rom using the kernel's touchscreen recovery and that worked for me. Anyway to answer your question it was 2.3.4 stock (.58) Enhanced version v2 anyway considering this is as an ICS ROM I should be able to get to it with any Gingerbread version.

You probably didn't flash the ext4 converter. Stock roms use the RFS file system and custom roms use ext4. You can find it in phiexs Cyanogenmod 7.2 thread, but if not I could share it from my drop box.

try with a full wipe!
Oh and Cyanogenmod 7.2 is probably the best for daily use, it has almost no bugs, but I use cm9 because I like it better. The only issue Is that the camera doesn't work, and some people report reboots on wifi (i dont though) but if you don't mind that, get Cyanogenmod 9 ICS

- CM9 (cam not working & bugs) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414173

same thing happened to mine, but now it's ok,just...
-enter recovery

{Q} Help flashing P.A.C.man rom!

Hello again guys, I installed LuPuS v8 JB Kernel on my phone (I had 4.0.2.A.0.58 Enhanced Firmware (Gingerbread) installed) then I went to CWM to flash the .zip with the wifi modules and G.Apps but when I rebooted I got a bootloop. what I have to do to correctly install it? Please guide me since I'm kinda newbie to this of unlocked bootloaders and kernels :/ (I'm trying to install PACman rom and followed the FAQ guide but...)
EDIT: Forgot to add, my PLAY is an r800a(i) GSM btw, I have to take off the SDcard to enter to the Kernel menu, idk if this is normal

After you flash the Rom reboot the phone and just let it fully boot. After that you can go back to CWM and flash the WiFi modules and other add-ons
You need to boot into the kernel's recovery and set it to jb mode or ics depending on your rom. Then make sure your rom and gapps don't exceed the system partition size, which it most likely did if you flashed the full gapps package as well.
The default recovery for the lupus jb kernel is TWRP, if you load into another CWM recovery it most likely did not flash to the correct partition arrangement that lupus kernel use therefore the rom can't boot.

Sounds like you didn't wipe data
So go into cwm and wipe cache, data, delvick and try rebooting then

These are the steps I did
1.- Flash the 4.0.2.A.0.58 Enhanced (2.3.4 firmware)
2.- Flash the LuPuSv8 JB Kernel via flashtools
3.- Take out the SDcard (I can't access to kernel menu without taking it out)
4.- Access Kernel menu then go into recovery mode
5.- Wipe data/cache/davlik
6.- Flash p.a.c.man jb
7.- Reboot
And then it bootloops and stays like that (i left it alone and it stayed like that for about 20 or 30 minutes)
I also wiped data/cache and davlik after flashing the rom, but got the same results, maybe I need a vendor unlocked firmware like in Turbo Kernel? I will try that...
Edit: Flashed the vendor unlocked firmware then wiped cache and data then installed the PACman rom but got bootloop again, maybe I should try with another kernel...

Do as above but after step 5 you need to go to mounts & storage and format Data/Cache & System (IMPORTANT DO NOT FORMAT ANYTHING ELSE):good:
Then flash p.a.c.man JB

[SOLVED][ARC]Can't change ROM/Kernel?

Hi guys,
I'm pretty new to this stuff and I'm pretty desperate for some help
Currently I'm on CM 9.1 with the included kernel. I tried to change to other ROMs to see which one fits me best. The problem is, it does not seem to work in any way, i'll try to describe the progress:
+ X10 FlashTool 0.9.10.1
+ Unlocked Bootloader
- I tried to flash some ROMs and kernels, I believe they were SlimBean(latest) LightningCM2(latest) with their recommended kernels, with one kernel the procudure was to flash a ftf first, which I tried but failed, don't know why and didn't save log.
- So now my phone did nothing, I restored it to GB via Emma: developer -dot- sonymobile -dot- com/services/flash-tool/
- Flashed previous kernel and restored backup via CWM
- Back on CM9.1 FXP Kernel
- Tonight I tried to change to XPERIA Ultimate HD 3.0.1 (like 50 times) I took the following steps:
- I used the instructions as described on the thread
HOW-TO INSTALL ROM
For Unlocked Bootloaders: Flash the Recomnend Kernels; Xperia Ultimate Basic Kernel - This one is blazing fast and features an excellent Battery Life in combination with this ROM.
For Locked Bootloaders: Root your phone using this tutorial, than install CWM using this app
Place ROM on SD-Card
Back up user apps and data. (Various apps available, search Google Play. This is a popular one)
Power off phone.
Boot to CWM (Keep pressing the Volume Down key after the Sony logo appears)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Mounts and Storage --> Format /System
Advanced > Wipe Battery Stats
Install zip from SD card > Choose Xperia Ultimate HD
Follow on screen instructions on AROMA.
After Complete Installation untick "reboot" and select reboot in CWM
Give the phone a good full charge, and enjoy your brand new phone!

*Note: Recommended kernel is Vengeance so I flashed this one, the latest(1.32 anzu).
- Booted phone, got sony logo and after that black screen, let it rest for like ten minutes and it went into a bootloop.
- Rebooted couple of times, same result.
- Tried to flash it (kernel & ROM) again, several times, same result.
- Tried it again, but now flashing .587 ftf first, stopped at 13% flashing, no response for like 30 minutes.
- Restored via Emma, Flashed FXP, restored via CWM
- So then I saw the following in the XHD 3.0.1 thread:
I figured out what's wrong with mine.. It's because I came from a GB rom, did a full wipe but still when flash the rom the aroma installer is cut into half..so this is what i did . . .
To anyone having problems/bootloops/FC/ etc you can follow this:
1.Download UHD 3.0.1 rom and your desired kernel (I'm using vengeance kernel)
2.Put UHD 3.0.1 rom and kernel modules on your SD card
3.Flash your kernel using flashtool
4.Flash .587 ftf (specially when you came from GB rom) ... exclude kernel and exclude TA ...after that reboot to CWM
5.Do a FULL WIPE
6.Flash UHD 3.0.1
7.Flash wifi modules of the kernel you are using( recommended kernel is Vengeance)
8.reboot to system
9.let your rom settle for a while(at least 10 min) ..that means don't use touch your phone at first boot (at least 10 mins or so)
10.Enjoy the best ICS rom! (Good job my idol jader )

- It wasn't specificly my problem but I thought, why not give it a try, with ofcourse, same result(stuck at ftf).
And that's it, I searched a lot, but can't find anything because I don't know what the problem is, I guess the kernel?
I hope that someone sees what the problem is and can help me out, I'd be very thankful. I tried to be clear as possible, hope it worked.
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,
Janoee
Re-Download .587 ftf from Zelly Cream Rom thread, u may have downloaded broken ftf! Use latest flashtool to flash ftf to phone! Then follow the directions on ZC thread and try his Rom and recommended kernels! I don't know if this will help but it's worth a try! Hit thanks if it works! Get back if it doesn't! Remember follow all directions to the letter!
Try installing flashtool (latest) again. It shouldn't be the kernel because you can flash an stock ROM and then the kernel w/o problems. Try looking for other .587 tft and verify it is for your device
Try This
Thanks for the effort,
will try these, although i've tried similir methods, I can't get any ROMs to work, only can flash kernel and then restore, nothing else works,
will report,

Custom roms - no mobile network

Hi,
I cant get any mobile network on any custom rom. It does work on the ICS beta but its not a great rom imo. I have flashed jellybean, xpress ics rom, dark ics rom, and ICS 4.04 all from Shadowsnipers tutorials on youtube. Roms work perfect but never any signal - im with Meteor in Ireland. I tinker with the settings GSM only etc or wcdma or both but I get error when looking for mobile networks. Another problem I have is any custom kernel I use to flash a rom ( Lupus, Doomlord ). It installs the rom, but instead of rebooting, It always boots into recovery. The only way I can install a rom is by using the boot.img that came with the stock beta gapps addon on ics beta. When the rom is flashed, I have to flash boot.img again without recovery ( from stock ics beta )...then the rom loads perfect apart from the NETWORK...Main problems is why cant my device reboot normally in the first place after i install a zip from sd card through lupus/doomlord/cwm auto. I have followed the instructions 100%. wipe cache , dalvic, system restore and advanced settings - but no change..would that be the cause.??... looks like stuck on stock 2.3.4 ...

Im on the same network with no problems. What kernel of mine are you using (gb, gb/ics, ics beta, or jb) Did u flash the recommended ftf. Try wipe all partitions in cwm → advanced→ mounts.. then format system and do your wipes. or
sudo fastboot erase userdata && sudo fastboot erase system then wipe you caches and flash ROM.

[Q] Stuck trying to install Cyanogenmod 9

Hi,
I went to use up my Xperia Play after a long time without using it.
I want to install Cyanogenmod 9 to it.
It's got a Lupus Kernel (2.4.4.0).
I don't remember how I installed that and at the point I put it away in storage It didn't seem to have a running rom, though looking at the card I have a backup of an altered Xperia Ray stock rom I used to use.
I cleared out the cache, dalvik cache and system (even though there didn't seem to be one), installed Cyanogenmod from a zip of cm-9.1.0-zeus.zip on the sdcard using the Dalvik 'install from zip'.
But now Cyanogenmod is stuck on the boot screen - with the picture of the android.
I've tried wiping and reinstalling multiple times.
What should I do to get it working?
Do I need to have a different Kernel?
Could the Kernel be corrupted?
Do I have to install from a windows pc running fastboot?
Is it because I need a different Lupus Kernel?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167766
Seems to indicate so;
"Custom Partitions ( Does not support CM9 )
LuPuS_zeus_Stock-gB+iCsv7-full.img
...
Stock Partitions ( Supports CM9 ) (camera in cm9 not working)
LuPuS_zeus_Stock-gB+iCsv6-full.img"
But I'd want the camera working so how would I achieve that? Do I need to change Kernel?
Any suggestions on a decent Kernel that would support the camera?
Use lupus ics/gb v6, or use boot.img (kernel) that is inside zip file you flashed
